I recently bought Apple Composite AV Cable and while i can use my old IPOD to connect to my car's tv I can not use my IPAD 2 or IPHONE 4,,why?

does that mean I can not buy a movie or tv show  from itunes and watch it on my car tv through my iphone? Does that also mean I can not watch any video even the ones I take via the iphone camera? That makes no sense, f that is true what is the rational? And how come it works from the IPOD?

  • Connecting my old ipod nano to a new Windows PC

I recently purchased a new Windows PC and I want to connect my iPod Nano (1st Gen) to it, which I've had for about 8 months with 800 songs on it.
I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (with Quicktime) on to my new PC. When I try to connect my iPod, Windows detects a USB device but doesn't recognise that its an ipod, so it doesn't show up in iTunes or My Computer.
I don't know why this is, but I have some theories (listed below)
    * Is this because you need a driver for the iPod nano (I thought you didn't need it with the new version of iTunes) or...
    * Will the iPod only Sync with Windows once (i.e. when you first connect it and it hasn't been formatted to Mac or Windows), once synced with that Windows it will sync with any other (for piracy reasons)?
    * Have I got to do a master reset to my ipod to get it to sync with my new PC?
    * Or is it some other reason?
    Can someone please help me?

i have the exact same problem. I have a 1st generation ipod nano 1g, and the previous computer which had my software on it, crashed (windows 2000). Then we used another computer which had windows xp and i tried installing the latest itunes onto the comp and as i connected my ipod it showed an icon stating... "USB does not recognise devive" "no drivers are installed for this device". so yeah practically the same problem and i really want a solution, as this is the 5th time ive had my ipod stuff up in the short amount of time ive had it. Very frustrating!!

  • Old iPod isn't recognized by Windows Vista

    Hey Everyone,
My girlfriend has a second generation iPod, which is around 5 years old. She didn't use iTunes before getting a new laptop(which runs Vista), but has now decided to try it out. When I plug in the iPod a message comes up saying "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computor has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message." It recommends to reconnect, which I have done, and then it recommends "replacing" the device. She doesn't want to have to get a new iPod if at all possible. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:

  • New ipod doesnt connect to updated itunes

is there a way to change my serial number or something on my itunes so i can use my new ipod??

    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - Then do the other actions of:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
paying special attention to item #5
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • How can I transfer songs from my old Ipod to my new one?

I just bought a new ipod video from apple and I would like to transfer all of my songs from my old 3rd generation ipod to my new one, how can I do this?

Download iRip, the program will detect your iPod then select "recover". If you have a firewire connection this will be fast. If you have a new iPod then you'll wait a little longer for your music to be ripped. When everything's recovered you eject the old iPod and connect the new one, drag'n drop, voilá. Don't forget to get rid of your music once you are sure it's installed -and maybe backuped in a external hard drive- so your computer memory won't be affected.
I use mac, I'm noticing that you are windows, if this don't work, google "rip ipod" and you'll find something there. Hope it works!

  • Ipod shuffle connected to a PC with a rootkit / malware

OK, so I tried to search this and only found some "old" posts.......
Sorry If this is already covered - Please provide a link, if it is - thxs.
So my ipod was connected to a windows PC, I got an
"unable to disconnect, in use by another program" error msg.
    - I knew the anti-virus wasn't scanning
    - decided to check the "open ports" and found a rootkit had opened
~ 20 ports and was communicated with a different country, on the other side of the world....
    - that PC is now a large PaperWeight until I do a "format c:"
Do I have to worry about some windows malware on the ipod (I had about 2meg free) getting on to my mac ? I know windows malware / exploit has no effect on OS X. BUT Has anyone heard of someone writting malware / exploit for this scenario that could have some effect on OS X ????????

I suppose if you enabled disk use, stored it on in the iPod, then copied the file to the computer you're wanting to play it on. If you mean directly from the iPod to a TV... no.

  • Transferring my music from an old ipod to a new ipod Video

I have just bought a new ipod video for my son who has an old ipod - how can I register his new ipod when one is already on my profile and how then do i get my music onto my new ipod from my old ipod profile
    many thanks
    paul

The way I do it if all of my items are on my iPod and not in my library is make sure that the old iPod is connected via USB or Firewire. Go into your Windows Explorer and the iPod should be recognized as a drive letter. Click the pulldown menu "Tools", "Folder Options" and then click on the "View" tab. Under "Hidden files and folders", check "Show hidden files and folders." click OK and then click on your iPod folder. You should see a "iPod_Control" folder. Take that folder and copy and paste the entire contents somewhere to your hard drive. Make sure you make a subfolder prior to such as "iPod Backup." Once that is done, in iTunes navigate to File, Add Folder to Library. It will bring all of your music into your iTunes library and begin to re-tag all of the music (you need to be connected to the Internet). From there, you can unplug the old iPod and plug your new iPod in. Drag and drop from your library to your new iPod and Voila!

  • Old iPod issue

I have an old 15GB version 2.3 and its formated for a macintosh, I purchased a tunetransfer program that I thought was for macs, but i brought it home and found out that its for windows. So I ran parallel on my new laptop so I could use the program on my old iPod so i can transfer my music to the new 60GB iPod i just purchased. I have the tunetransfer program working and itunes on parallel, but I can't get my old iPod to show up on windows XP because of the formatting. Is there anyway I can reformat it to work on windows with out effecting the music I have on it?

You can't reformat without erasing what is on the iPod. However there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows This one for instance will let you use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows and can be used to copy files from the iPod to the computer: XPlay 2

  • I would like to buy a new ipod touch; will I be able to transfer my smurf village from my old ipod to my new one?

I would like to buy a new ipod touch; how do I transfer my smurf village from my old ipod to my new one?

Yes.  Just make one final sync (it includes a backup) of the old iPod,  Then connect the new iPod to that syncing computer and restore the iPOd from that backup.  Also see:

Well, there is always the possibility that it's been jailbroke, in which case, you're out of luck.  However...
