Old ipod stolen, new one won't sync

a few months ago i got my ipod stolen, & now itunes won't let me transfer the music that i already had on itunes onto my new ipod. & every time i unplug my new ipod, then plug it back in it makes me register it again. do i need to reinstall itunes? help pleassee =]

What is the exact error iTunes is giving you?  What happens if you do a restore of the device? This will wipe all data from the iPod and reset it to factory settings as well as load a fresh copy of the iPod's firmware onto the device. This should help rule out any sort of software issues/glitches with the iPod.

  • Old iPod and new computer won't sync.

I have recently purchased a new Mac computer (OSX 10.7.4) and it won't recognise my old (6years) iPod.  I keep getting a message that says my computer can't read my iPod and vice versa.  Surely I don't have to buy a new iPod
Is there any way round this problem?

  • How to replace old ipod with new one

I have just got an iPhone 64gb as my 32gb iPod touch is full.  How do I transfer the contents from my old iPod to my new iPhone?  It should be simple but doesn't seem to be!

Thanks.  I think the problem is that the c:drive on my computer is full and so it does not have the capacity to do it.  I have a new computer and have managed to copy the downloads on to the new computer but it won't sync the rest of the music because I think the old device is the registered device.  If that makes sense!

  • How do I get music from my old ipod to new one please ?

I have tried bbut cannot seem to get music from my old ipod to my new ipod. I lost old one long ago and recently found it and much loved n' missed songs . I since replaced pc and saved no music . I tried connecting both ipods to my laptop but no luck getting songs from old to new !!  Any help would be greattly appreciated pelase n' thank you :-)

    Hi Lea64!
If your music was ripped from CDs, you will need to re-rip it to your iTunes library on your new computer. But if you bought your music from iTunes, they are still in iCloud, and you can redownload them at no cost. Sign in to the iTunes Store on your computer, then click on "Purchased" on the list on the right hand side. You'll see everything you have ever bought from iTunes in there, and anything that's not currently on your computer will have a little cloud with a downward pointing arrow in it. Click on the cloud symbol next to whatever you want to download, and it will download to your computer. Plug in your iPod and synch it, and you're done. Hope this helps!

you just have to install this software, connect your old ipod, copy all the files inside your old ipod to your laptop and after that put them inside the new one!

  • HT1414 Transfering games from old ipod to new one.

I just go a new IPOD 6.1.3 and have been trying to transfer games from my very old IPOD 4.2.1. I backed up my old ipod to my itunes account and then did a restore on my new ipod.  I also tried resetting my new ipod and just individually transfering the games over. The games will transfer but the data doesn't.  When I click on the games on my new IPOD it's as if I've never played them before.  What am I doing wrong?

You have to restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod. If you restore via iTunes all the apps have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup.

  • Photos not on my computer are still on iPod and new ones aren't syncing.

I deleted some photos from my computer and now new photos aren't syncing to my ipod and the ones that I deleted from my computer are still on my iPod- even if I change what folder the photos sync from to a completely different folder.

Anyone else have ideas? Because the last person's post didn't do anything new.
Edit: Now in the photo app it's making folders with the same names as those on my computer, but it's not putting any photos into them.

  • Old iPod broke, new one by mail but extended warrantee gone?

    Hey guys, Problem!
OK. I sent in my iPod because the HDD Crashed. I got my ipod july of last year. I got back a brand new iPod, except with a new SN.
Now recently, my earbud's wires were somehow stripped and wires snapped off near the base, and noe there is no sound. I have gotten a new pair easily before for free because I have the extended plan which allows me to just fill out a form and get a new pair of earbuds the next day, and i have done this twice before.
But just now, I logged on to the support page and filled out the Service Repair form for a new pair, and it said that my warantee expired. So I tried my old iPod's SN and it said the same thing.
Does this mean that when they send you a new iPod, that you have to buy the extended service plan again!? I thought this is why I bought the plan in the first place!
PLEASE. Anyone out there that would know, do I have to buy the plan again to get my earbuds replaced with cost covered and not pay the fee?
    MUCH appreciated,
    Tim.

    Hey!

And so yesturday i called griffin and they were like this has never happened before and so my mum researched it and sure enough it has!And tey offered to replace te itrip, but i was like what about the 7000$ in ipods, compared to a 20$ ting? and mine and one of my friends ipod isnt even 4 months old yet! what do you sugest i do?!

  • Is Apple going to have an exchange program for ipods?  (IE Getting credit for old ipod for new one?_

    Apple exchange?

Another alternative is various retailers will give you store credit for older devices that work and you can use that credit towards your new device. Best Buy and Amazon (in the us anyway) give store credit and Radio SHack may also.
I'm sure there are various internet services of questionable honesty, but there are at least a couple very reputable companies. Best Buy gave me $70 for my like new condition iPod 4, so it was almost like getting 30% off the new one.
    Something you can look into.
If it's a non-functional device, then Apple's program could be your best bet since these companies want working devices that they can resell.

  • Music from Old Ipod to New One

I recently cracked my 6th generation ipod Nano that has over 600 songs on it and I want to buy a new Nano but because most of my songs on the Nano are from a computer I no longer have the hard drive for I am wondering how I can get the songs from that ipod onto a new one without losing any of the music??

If the songs on your mini are not on your computer then you need to take the tracks from the mini and put them in iTunes, you can't transfer from iPod to iPod. If they are on the computer then all you need to do is connect your new iPod and it will update automatically. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod and return them to iTunes. This is just a selection, have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • Transfer Playlists & Music from old Ipod to new one - Shared ITunes

I have just bought a new ipod nano and want to transfer the music and playlists from my old 2nd generation ipod over. Unfortunately I share a computer and the library in ITunes isn't mine. I can connect both old and new ipods at the same time but obviously I Tunes won't let me just copy over. Any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

See below for how to get the stuff off your iPod and into iTunes (maybe you can create your own account on that computer so you can have your own iTunes library)...

  • Transfering songs from old ipod to new one

Hi! i wanna know how can I transfer the songs in my 15 GB ipod to my new 30 gb ipod.
    Thanks

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying your songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes

Once you have reloaded iTunes just connect your new iPod and let it auto-sync.

  • Linking old ipods to new itunes account and syncing songs

does anyone have any idea how???

It is an ipod from an account I had on a desktop that is no longer in use.  I downloaded many songs from itunes but transferred most from CDs I owned.  We moved to another state, and for the first 9 months, I used my ipod infrequently and never added any songs.  Then I got an iphone.  I mostly used Pandora.  I ran a 5K without satellite service, hence, no music, so I decided it was time to download my own music to my phone.  I could not remember my itunes account and it was linked to an email address that was with my cable/internet provider in the prior state.  So, I started a new itunes account. I've been running happy since until I decided to train for a marathon and I discovered that my iPHONE battery will not last all 26.2 miles.  And there is NO way I can do that without music.  So, back to my ipod.  I would love to add more music and create a playlist that is strictly fast paced music so I won't have to fast forward while running, BUT...I can not get the 2 to link up.  I can't transfer the new songs on to the ipod, or the old songs on to the computer.  I have tried to authorize this computer, but again, I can not remember the password.  It also sends the info to my old email address which is no longer valid.   There are 691 songs on the IPOD, erasing them all and starting again will take up too much time.  I leave tomorrow to fly to dc at 11 am.
