Is there a place where I can download old software for my ipod? I lost the disk it came with...

Old software? You probably can't get them now from Apple. Is there a reason why you want an older version and not the most recent version?

Old ipod updater ... where can I get a copy?

I had asked this question in a previous post but received no replies so I though I would try again.
I am (like lots of others) having problems with my ipod and itunes 5 and the new ipod updater.
I was hoping to download an old ipod-updater - say Feb or June of 2005 and try using it instead of the new one.
Does anyone know where I could find this? I have found a czech version but I can't install it on my powerbook without changing my computers language to czech, which I don't want to do!
Thanks for any help! Even if someone mailed me the .dmg file that would be great (or post it on a web site somewhere)

eBay. You should get a "retail" copy (which came on three CDs not one DVD), black with a big silver X. Don't get a copy that came with a particular Mac model (grey color), unless it happens to be the disc that came with your particular Mac model.
You may want to consider getting Tiger (10.4) instead, if your Mac supports it. Tiger provides better software compatibility with more recent applications, compared to Panther.
If your Mac is a G4 or G5, 867 Mhz or faster, with at least 512mb of RAM, Leopard (10.5) is also supported.
NOTE: Leopard does not have "Classic" mode for running Mac OS 9 apps. Tiger (and earlier) does.

IPod Updater Software won't install in computer

Help! I've searched through the discussion boards and can safely say I have not seen my specific problem with the iPod Updater software posted. For 8 weeks, I've installed the latest iPod Updater software (06-26; 09-23; 10-12) that I've downloaded from Apple and zdnet sites. Like most everyone, I kept getting the message that the iPod software is too old, etc. After each installation, everything seems to have downloaded properly. I then go on to the Utilities folder, and after I click on the latest Updater software to finish the installation, my computer keeps asking me to connect my iPod, and the Update and Restore buttons are greyed out. I even went up to the Options menu to Update and Restore and that's also not viable. I've then tried to reset, restore my iPod, nothing was working. I was even on the phone with Apple for 2.5 hours (iBook and iPod helpdesks) and the newest result is that my iPod is in the disk mode; and the folder with the exclamation mark is flashing. When I checked the Console log of my computer, I found this message:
2005-11-16 22:36:48.012 Installer[365] SUIS couldn't be installed because "This software cannot be installed on this computer."
2005-11-16 22:43:09.278 SystemUIServer[196] Trying to set an iPods time, though I have no user client.
Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone have any working solutions? Should I have posted this on the iBook site? I'm at my wits end.

I am experiencing the same problem. I cant seem to get the ipod updater to actually update my ipod.
itunes tends to freeze my system, even though Ive had a full format and reinstall. I think the trick is getting itunes v4.9 though I am struggling to find this version as well...

ITunes and iPod updated software is impossible to download

I download stuff all the time, but I have not been able to download any recent itunes or ipod updated software since december 2005.
Of course, Apple provides no easy contact info just this useless message board.
There is nothing wrong with my cable modem. There is something wrong with the apple servers. overloaded or something.

If you go to apple.com, you'll find a Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. I have a copy of iTunes for Windows downloading now for a friend who has a slower connection than mine so the server seems to be fine.

IPod updater software download problem

Hi. I got the !/folder icon on my Nano. Plugged it into my computer and reset it (but still get !/folder). Got a message that software version 1.1 was available. Am unable to download software. When I click the "download iPod updater software" button on the ipod updater download webpage, the download dialogue starts but no progress is made in the download. I've tried many times (using both the "save to folder" option and the "run" option, but the download stops as soon as it begins [little icons of pieces of paper fly through the air and into a folder but no data!]. I waited overnight in case the download site was swamped and tried again, but the same thing happened. What could be the problem?
1. Reset your iPod. Check
2. Retry with a different USB port. Check
3. Restart your computer. Check
4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software. Problem!
5. Restore your iPod.
What to do? What next?

FYI: Problem resolved. I still don't know what the problem was, but I have finally managed to download the updater software.
Using the updater to install the new software solved the problem with the iPod, BTW.

Is it ok to delete old ipod updates, but keep the last update.thay take up close to 1gig of space.

Yes, you can delete them. They aren't needed once they are used.
Keeping the most recent updater is a good idea.

Ipod update software server cannot be connected?

i was trying to update my ipod touch using the general setting update, download it then it ask to install. Followed instruction then the connect to itunes put out, i did that, itunes said need to restore, i said ok
but then this happened, ipod update software server cannot be connected,

The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

At the moment, the nano's software is still at version 1.0. So there haven't been any bug fixes yet. We'll just have to be patient.

IPod Updater software on CD?

This should be in a separate forum... but I am wondering if it is possible to get the iPod Updater software on CD (separate from a new iPod), instead of downloading it from the internet, (which for dial up users, can take quite a long time).

No, but you can find a friend on a faster connection and work a deal to get it burned to a CD on his system. For that matter, the boys and girls on the Genius Bar would probably do it for you.

Ipod not recognised by iTunes after latest Ipod Updater Software loaded

Can you please help as I can't get my Ipod to work anymore with iTunes. I recently did a "clean-up" of my computer and removed a lot of old files to speed up my computer and whilst doing this I upgraded my iTunes software with the latest Ipod Software Updater. However, I can't get my iPod to work with iTunes anymore. I plug in my iPod and it starts to say "Do Not Disconnect" on the iPod screen but then it doesn't show up in my iTunes so I can't update my iPod.
I tried to use the iPod Software Updater "Repair" option but this just freezes my system and doesn't recognise my Ipod. I also get the error "Write Failure on this disk" showing up in the icons near my Computer Clock when I plug in my Ipod.
I've tried doing a system restore back to when the ITunes worked with the Ipod but this didn't fix it. I've tried removing iTunes and the iPod from my computer and then reinstalling them from the software from apple.com but it still doesn't work. The problem being is when I've deleted ITunes and the Ipod Installer I've lost my original HP + Ipod installation disk so maybe I'm missing some essential system files? I've used the Ipod Software Installer from apple.com to install the iPod files but I'm not sure whether I need the files from the original installation CD. Can I find the installation CD files from anywar

Bad iPod update software?

Last week I was prompted to install the latest ipod and itunes software released 1/10/06.
However, upon installing the software, my ipod no longer updates - anything.
I've done the 5-R's, I've reinstalled everything from scratch, and it still won't update:
These five steps (known as the five Rs) will conquer most iPod issues.
1. Reset your iPod.
2. Retry with a different USB port.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Reinstall iPod and iTunes software.
5. Restore your iPod.
I suspect there is something very wrong with the latest 1.11 ipod update.
Symptoms:
1) PC & iTunes see ipod fine
2) itunes shows songs/podcasts on the ipod
3) ipod is blank - no podcast menu, no playlists are updated, it's blank.
Anyone know if Apple has responded to this issue? or has a fix in the works? Or if there is some way to roll-back to the older version? or what I can do?

Can't Run Ipod Update Software because missing Easy CD Creator 5 Basic Disc

I just installed the Itunes software for my nanno. When I try to download the songs I have in Itunes to my nanno, I get a message saying there is an updated version of the Ipod Software. When I try to download the updated Ipod Software, I get a message saying that I'm missing the Easy CD Creator 5 Basic Disc Software needed to do the download. I don't know what this is or where to get it. I can't figure out how to download the songs without going through this process so I'm stuck. Please help! Thanks.

Something is wrong here, you don't need Easy CD Creator 5 Basic Disc Software for the Pod updater!
Ok, got to start > all programs > ipod updater.
Run that propgram, does it start? Is it even installed on your PC?

Cant Get Past Contacting IPod Update Software Server

I Have Been Trying To Update My IPod Touch 4th Generation to IOS 6.1.6, But Something pops up saying Contacting IPod Software Server, and I cant even get past it.

Old Ipod Updates

Hi all......I have Ipod 5th Gen and I'm using a PC....When I go into Add or Remove Programs I can see a few Ipod Updaters and Ipod for Windows ***-**-*. Do all of these need to stay on my system???
I've tried to unistall the old one but the Unistall box appears....status bar fills half way up and then disappears. I've restarted my PC after this and went back inot Add or Remove programs and they are still there.
So my question is.....do they need to be there?....and if not....how do I remove them?
