Old packages available?

Hi folks,
I have a simple question. Are old packages available for download?
The reason: i am trying to play some *.mp4 movies with 5.1 AAC sound. The current Video Lan Client doesn't play them correct. i had to downgrade to VLC 0.6.2  To avoid this i was wondering if there is link, where people can download old packages, in case they have problem with the current ones?
VLC forum
Shemeta

well it's complicated to make VLC encode 5.1 AAC.
Hans-Jueren:
Normally yes, FAAD2 supports at least 7.1 playback of multichannel AAC/MP4 files. But the latest VLC test build also seems to generate an "unexpected channel configuration change" with stereo files. I don't know yet if they also used the latest source code or the release version 2.0 which does not include the Parametric Stereo decoding
and also there are lots of people complaining about the latest VLC & .mp4 format. so the best thing was to downgrade to 0.6.2
thankd for your help guys,

  • Due to NAS issues, when I started a new time machine backup it did not have the old backups available. My question is do I need to delete them or will time machine automatically reclaim the space?  Only one Sparse Bundle, same name.

Due to NAS issues, when I started a new time machine backup it did not have the old backups available. My question is do I need to delete them or will time machine automatically reclaim the space?  There is only one sparse bundle but when I enter time machine I don't see my historic backups.  I use a synology DS212 for my time machine.  Started a new backup which is 218gb but it says 618 gb is occupied  therefore it looks like 2 or 3 backups are still on the disk. Before my NAS issues the last backup was in 2014.  As you can see there is a second sparse bundle from 2012.  Not sure what that is.

This is an old message now, but what happened to me similarly was:
I had a major computer crash and through complicated pathways ended up reinstalling (Mavericks) as a new user (long story).
At least I had good Time Machine backups on an NAS drive (Synology DS212j), or so I thought - when I started Time Machine up again, the old backup file was gone, replaced by a new one using my "new computer" name. The old file was gone both by directly mounting the NAS drive and by clicking "Enter Time Machine".
It's like I had {OldShareName}.sparsebundle and then it was replaced by {NewShareName}.sparsebundle, all of the old info vanished.
(I have spent a week finding old files elsewhere and have completed a satisfactory self-restore. It pays to "archive" [my own variation of] as well as "back-up".)
My belief is that if this were a wired-netword-drive, e.g. plugged right into my iMac with a USB cable, then the old file would have remained.
But this is an NAS drive, connected directly to my Airport wireless router, and I don't know the significance of the fact that it stores its Time Machine backups as "sparsebundle" files rather than simply as plain(er) files.
As usual when things get complicated with computers (not just Apple computers) there was never a warning message. Something like "YOU'RE ABOUT TO DELETE A TIME MACHINE BACK-UP FILE!!!" would have made my life a lot simpler.
BTW, I did try a "restore from Time Machine" option the first thing I had my "new computer" (old hardware, 2009 iMac) up and running, using Migration Assistant, and it ran for many hours and then failed in the wee hours - what that has to do with anything I'm not sure.
I'm not sure that I have a question about this other than "why do these things happen to me?", but it's a warning. Apart from that I've been very happy with the stability and reliability (but not the cost or set-up complexity) of NAS vs. directly-cabled external drives.

  • Is there a standard package available for JAVA for MM in Enterprise Portal

    Hi
I would like to know if there is a standard package available for JAVA in MM for Enterprise Portal as we want to create purchase requests in the portal and send them to SAP .

    Standman--
If you want a somewhat more powerful tool (albeit more complicated) check out TOra:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/tora/
As an Oracle DBA I've used this at client's sites when I can't pay for PL/SQL Developer to be installed, and it has quite a few useful things built into it. I think that it's going to see a boom in popularity now that Oracle came out with XE.

  • Where to find old packages?

I recently upgraded my xine to the latest one, xine-ui-0.99 and it eats up all my PC resources, and I wasn't able to play any movies at all. I was wondering where I could find the previous version, 0.98, because I had no problem with it.
i tried ftp.archlinux.org, but i can't find the old packages there anymore.
    please assist, thanks

if it is not cached in your /var/cache/pacman/pkg then you will have to download the old PKGBUILD from the web CVS and build the package yourself. read the wiki on how to build packages.

  • Audit of attribute value change: is the old value available?

When changing the value of an user attribute in the FIM Portal, the new attribute value is properly logged. This can be read in the request and in the standard report FIMUserHistory.
The question is, what about the old value that was replaced? Is the old value available in the Data Warehouse somewhere, so one can make a report or is it gone forever (of course one can find the old value by looking at the previous attribute change or creation
event, but this could be too long time ago)?
    Thanks for helping,
    Didier.

As far I remember (I don't have access to test FIM Reporting now) in reports stored on Data Warehouse, there is no such thing as "old value". But as far I remember it, also very old data is stored there, so there can be something like:
User: JJK003 -> New attribute (mail) value: [email protected] (12.12.2013)
User: JJK003 -> New attribute (mail) value: [email protected] (12.02.2014)
so, if you look closely to a history and sort it by user - you can determine what was the old value.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj133843(v=ws.10).aspx
In report, you have always most recent display name of this user and of attribute's display name, but history should show what value was inserted long time ago and what value was set a week ago - than you know what value was there previously.
But please be aware that users report, according to TechNet, does not include all properties:
This report provides information about changes to key attributes on user resources in FIM, including account name, email, job title, and
    employee start/end date.

  • Flash CS6 and the old Packager for iPhone?

    Hi,
I was wondering: now that it's possible to select an Air SDK version in Flash CS6, would it also be possible to use Flash CS6 with the old 'packager for iPhone' that came with Flash CS5?
I know, I know, I should get rid of that old thing, but reality is that I used packager for iPhone to create one of my first apps and now I can't update to a newer version of Air. Apple doesn't allow that, because existing users wouldn't be able to update anymore.
It would be great if CS6 can work with the old Packager for iPhone.
Does anyone know the answer to this?

Too bad... I was hoping to kick my old CS5 installation out of the window...

  • Old packages cleaning utility.

    Hi, all.
I wrote small program for cleaning local repository from old packages (usually I save cached packages). May be it will be useful.
    Project page - http://code.google.com/p/repo-clean/
    In AUR:
    repo-clean - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16692
    repo-clean-svn - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16670

    Hello,
thank you for your contribution. I think the makedependency to gcc is not needed, because gcc is in base-devel and everyone who uses AUR is adviced to have these packages installed. The dependency to pacman also is not needed - everyone who wants to use a package has to have pacman.
I also suggest to put || return 1 behind the scons line and the cp line.
Thanks for advice. I take notice to it.

I have a problem: in my repo there are the following packages:
    [haawda@bertrand repo-clean]$ ls /opt/repo/cow*

    /opt/repo/cowbell-svn-30-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
    /opt/repo/cowbell-svn-33-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
    [haawda@bertrand repo-clean]$
So I suppose repo-clean should delete /opt/repo/cowbell-svn-30-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz, since it is an older version of /opt/repo/cowbell-svn-33-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz. But it does not.
By default repo-clean run in dry-run mode - only show packages with more than one versions and mark newest. For  cleaning you must use -mc flag.

  • Setting up new Arch repo with old package backup?

I love Arch and want to give something back. I can't program and don't have any luck finding questions on the forum that I know how to answer So I thought maybe I could set up an Arch repo. I looked around for a HOWTO on doing this but couldn't find anything. How do all the repo's get their packages from the main Arch repo?
As of late I have been working with dav7 to set up an old package repo. More like a place to download old packages at http://schlunix.org/arch-linux/i686/ he supplied all the packages. There are a lot of them there but obviously it is only as complete as the packages he uses.
So... 1, how would I got about setting up a repo? And 2, is there any kind of nifty script I could use to instead of deleting obsolete packages, just move them to an "old" folder so people could search it if they needed an old package?
    Thanks!

Thats what I'm trying to do, make and keep a real backup mirror for the benefit of all Archers. My hosting account has 550GB space (grows 2GB/week) and 6TB monthly bandwidth (grows 40GB per week). I don't know if that will be enough... but I would imagine that would hold quite a few packages.
I was checking out rsync, and when I do "rsync archlinux.org::" it does say that only authorized mirrors are allowed to access it. So right now I'm looking for another mirror that will let me use rsync. But in the meantime who would I talk to to find out if it would be possible/helpful to the community/worthwhile to become an official mirror vs just syncing off a mirror that syncs off of archlinux.org?
Also, assuming I get this all working, how do I update the packages.txt file? Would I just use the one that I would get by rsync'ing off of whatever server I end up using? Trying to figure out what the easiest way to keep all the old packages would be. If I do what iphitus suggested and just not delete the old packages but leave them in the same directories as the current packages will that cause any problems (as far as people being able to do a "pacman -Syu" to my server)?

    Titan -
In TestStand 1.0.2 there is way of customizing a TestStand installation and I believe that this will also work for a distribution. Take a look at
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/e684845ac856014c862567f3006c7e26?OpenDocument

  • Repo-add [custom] database need to REMOVE old packages ? script to do?

I believe it is still needed to create the custom database to use local packages and not have to do pacman -U [full-file-name]
Doing this with repo-add (as mentioned in wiki 'pacman tips' will have old packages added sometimes if there are duplicates.
How to remove older duplicates reliably?
Or is there a way to sync without creating custom database with repo-add. The wiki speaks of: Installing packages from a CD/DVD/iso
without mentioning any requirement of needing a database. I didn't understand how that would be possible just because the files are on DVD etc. I would expect the same 'old files in database' likelihood to exist also and as well cannot see how pacman would sync without a database.
Basically I have tons of duplicate files in my huge copy of files locally. Not really sensible to try to keep it with only current versions so I thought there would be a guru's script to do this.

Two things I attempted to touch on tomk.
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman_Tips
    Installing packages from a CD/DVD/iso
I thought there appeared to be no mention of need for a custom database infering that the dvd/CD/iso would sync with pacman -Syu however the files were on there I guess it would be.
    Custom local repository
Where this wiki page says in this Custom local repository 'repo-add' paragraph, that there's no way to assure that the latest packages will be added.
The last argument will add all pkg.tar.gz files to the repository, so be careful. If having multiple versions of a package in the directory, it is unclear which one will take precedence and end up in the repository.
As I had a not so understood experience I wondered if there were old packages in there as I got a message saying that local was newer than database or something when I tried to pacman -Syu with this local database I'd created. Something like that anyways, definitely not working right though not assuming I'm accurate in describing or guessing or methodology.
I could be half asleep so apologies for not been my detail-freak self here.
P.S. I started out with TONS of older version when I tried to create a good database.

  • Old packages which should be removed with the new python package?

I recently pacman -Syu'ed and got all the new updates Arch has to offer. In doing this, quodlibet wouldn't work anymore. Doing my own investigation, it apparently looks for libs in /usr/lib/python-2.4 before /usr/lib/python-2.5 come to find out a bunch of old packages still use /usr/lib/python-2.4 and therefore the folder sticks around and quodlibet complains it cant find what it needs in /usr/lib/python-2.4 when it is in fact in /usr/lib/python-2.5
I then proceeded to pacman -Qo /usr/lib/python-2.4 and remove packages until i could successfully delete the folder with no packages owning it. I would then assume, that the packages I had to remove need to be rebuilt with the new python. If someone can confirm my logic here, I'll post a bug report and  hopefully this clears up some of the python migration issues that seem to be cropping up.
