Old palm Tungsten W

I lost all data in my desktop computer but have 2 handhelds with it still there. For some reason when I install the Palm disc on my newer laptop I can't get it to hotsync with the handhelds.

It looks like your laptop has Windows 8 on it.
If you open the Control Panel, then click "System", it should tell you whether it is 64bits or 32bits.  Most likely it will be 64 bits, and you will need to follow the instructions I provided in the link I just gave you.
Since your T|W is so old, if installing the Aceeca drivers doesn't work with version 4.x of Palm Desktop, you will need to uninstall 4.x, install version 6.2 (see the first post in the list for downloads) and also the extra "Palm HotSync Setup" patch also (as mentioned in the instructions).

  • I lost my old palm tungsten (about 5-6 years old. All the information is backed up on my laptop. Is there a new Palm I can buy that will do a sync with my computer?

    Post relates to: Tungsten E

Sorry for your loss. But it's awesome that your stuff was backed up. Yay!
Yes, any handheld/smartphones that uses "Palm OS" (key term) should sync just like your old Tungsten. Palm no longer sells Palm OS handhelds/smartphones as new, but you can usually pick one up on eBay or Amazon as a used item.
In order from newest to oldest:
    Palm TX
    Palm Tungsten T5
    Palm Tungsten T3
Centro is Palm's last smartphone which does everything a Palm OS handheld does, and you don't have to have a wireless service attached to it so you can essentially use it as a handheld.
The Lifedrive is a pretty good workhorse - chunkier and older than the others but I always liked it. Nice big screen.
    For example:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0009JMT38/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000BI7NHY/ref=sr_1_12_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1279132491&sr=1-1...
Keep in mind these products are no longer manufactured, so when your "new" used device needs to be upgraded/replaced, you'll need to start looking at webOS phones, Windows Mobile phones/handhelds, or Android products. None of these sync the same way as the old Palm OS devices. Some of your stuff might not port over.
webOS is the next generation of Palm, so I'm suggesting that option when the time comes.   Palm has an app that migrates Calendar, Contacts and Tasks from Palm Desktop to webOS, which is quite convenient. In fact, you could get a webOS phone now, and move your Palm Desktop stuff over to it today - no need to go through a new/used Palm OS intermediary device.

  • Transferring info from  Palm Tungsten PDA to I-Touch?

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer information from my very old Palm Tungsten PDA to the I-Touch? I am trying to save myself hours of needless work transferring everything by hand (yikes!). I would be grateful for any feedback or solutions.

You need to transfer to your outlook or other address book on your computer that you plan to sync your ipod touch with then sync from there.
Search the palm site or Google for instructions on how to do this.

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

No, there is nothing published - that I am aware of - other than the Missing Sync User Guide that you received [as portable document format file] when you purchased the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
There is some developer documentation available from Apple, but it has little direct bearing on anything like the issue you are seeing. Your crash logs should have provided an indication of what was going on, and - using them - Mark/Space should have been able to identify your issue pretty easily.
It's very difficult to troubleshoot unusual issues remotely. Common problems - which can be easily identified - are readily corrected just by following the instructions posted by some knowledgable person here in the Apple Discussions forums. Given the unique circumstances you report of total failure following the installation of the Missing Sync, it's very likely that the actual culprit in your configuration is NOT the Palm desktop, iSync, .Mac Sync, the Missing Sync for Palm OS or your Treo 600. Something unique about your configuration is likely responsible. Trying to eliminate the variables, though, is not an easy task.
One relatively easy way to troubleshoot such issues is to create a new user, reinstall the Missing Sync and attempt to synchronize using that new user account. If that process is successful, you'll immediately know that something involving your existing user account is responsible for the issue.

  • Palm Tungsten - Screen Digitizer

    No device
I have a Palm Tungsten PDA.  I have not used it in three years.  Recently I charged the battery and tried to operate it.  It asks me to tap a bullseye circle to set the screen digitizer.  It will not accept a tap anywhere on the screen.  The reset button also does not work.  How can I get beyond this and to some old contacts stored inside?

There is a multi-page thread "stickied" at the top of this board which covers pretty much every cause and fix of digitizer issues:

When you say it will not transfer all your info, does any data sync to the handheld?
If all your data is on Palm desktop, set the hotsync conduits to desktop overwrites handheld. Hard reset the T2. Connect the T2 to the PC and start the sync.

  • How do I remove an old Palm sync device?

I used to have a Palm Treo smartphone.  Worked great, but I eventually moved on to an iPhone 3.
That was a few OS X versions ago!
Now, I have Lion and an iPhone 4.  And I just noticed this error in my console log:
12-01-04 3:19:46.791 PM SyncServer: [0x7fe69a416df0] |DataManager|Warning| Client com.apple.Palm:3297500208 image file path /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/Resources/tungsten.tiff does not exist.

It seems at least part of my old Palm sync conduit is still around!  And not very happy.
I don't use Mobile me.  And the iSync app is gone in Lion.
So, how do I manuallly delete this old device?
    Thanks in Advance

    THANKS! for the reply.
I'm Not sure I see the relevance of your link.  I used the predecessor to isync when I first used my Palm to sync data with my MAC.
I don't thinik I installed any of Palm's software, so there are no old packages to remove.
I assume the log errors are old sub-system functions or drivers still looking for the hardware and software interfaces.
I thought the solution would be to find whatever lists sync devices and remove the Palm entry.
Or just delete the com.apple.palm objects.
I won't do either unless I can find some confirmation which path is safest.
If I missed something in your link, please let me know.

  • Palm Tungsten T5

I badly need help from somebody.  I have bought 2 Palm handhelds and both of them have let me down totally.  Just wasted my money.  I have an old Tungsten E which I used and loved for years.  It finally would not hold the date but jumped back to 2003 or something.
So I purchased a new Tungsten T5.  I have had it for about 4 months and, lo and behold, it has started doing the same thing - jumped back to 2004.  I brought it up to 2011 but, within a few minutes, it jumped back to January 2004 again.  I really am regretting paying good money for these things.  Apparently there is no Palm support for them since they aren't the newer generation.  Bad public relations, I must say.
I am a 79 year old grandmother and "in the good old days" companies stood behind their products.  Have I any options here?

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
The date problem sounds either like corrupted data.  I suggest you try a series of resets on your handhelds...first a Soft Reset and then a Hard reset of the problem persists.  Hard resetting will wipe all data and third-party applications from your handheld.  Play with it for awhile to see if the data problem persists.  If it seems OK, you'll have to be careful Hotsyncing all your data back, because it's probably something there that is causing the issue.  This Palm Support article describes the procedure for diagnosing a problem or conflict caused by a third-party application:
    http://tinyurl.com/24wwzw
As for support issues, both of your handhelds are pretty "ancient" in technology years.  The original warranty for new devices was one (1) year from new retail purchase.  The Tungsten T5 was discontinued something like 4 or 5 years ago, the Tungsten E even longer, so it would be very surprising (though I guess not impossoble) if you purchased a brand new one.  HPalm's support for retired devices consists of device-specific support pages (accessible through the Support link at the very top of the page), and these forums.  I don't work for HPalm (just volunteer here), and I think that the continued availability of these resources for old Palm devices is pretty good in today's world of limited and shrinking resources, for old devices which are long gone from HPalm's income stream.

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Easiest way would be to get HotSync working on the Win7 box.  Please follow the directions in this thread we have at the top of the messages in this section.
You'll need to erase the "new" E2 by doing a Hard Reset.
Once you have Synced your old E2 to the PC, do a HotSync with the new erased unit and when asked, "Do you want to Create a new account, or sync to an existing one?" choose Existing and pick the name of the original E2.  Proceed with the HotSync, and the data from the old unit should flow to the new one, and give it the same HotSync account name.
Plan B:   Send the data from one unit to the other via BlueTooth, or Infra Red (Beaming).  Note: Some programs will not be able to be sent due to copyright rules!
Erase the "new" unit via the same Hard Reset, then turn BlueTooth on in both devices.  Pair the two devices.  Pairing the E2.
Each database (like Contacts or Calendar) has the option to either Send (via Bluetooth) or Beam (via Infra-red) the data.  I don't have my Palm devices handy right now, so details are sketchy.
Try the HotSync method first, then if desired we can delve into Sending and Beaming later.

the list has infrared to gsm phones,Sony E t681, Nokia 6310i, motorolla TP280i, - NONE WORK
However there is an edit option for custom settings, that asks for "init String" and speed from 1,200 bps to 115,200 bps.
Is there someone out there that is smarter then me
(I'm a 68yr old pensioner)  that can tell me what string to put in and what speed ???
    thanks and kind regards
    Post relates to: Tungsten E

I have no idea what the init string would be, but another vendor sells drivers.  The E51 isn't specifically listed, but the "Nokia Other" driver may work.
They do offer a trial version, so definitely "try before you buy".

  • I NEED HELP PLEASE! Palm Tungsten E2 versus Palm Pixi

I LOVED my Tungsten E2:, but I accidentally stepped on it, plus it didn't seem to be compatible with Windows 7.  I can't afford an expensive PDA and have been considering the Palm Pixi as both my cell phone and PDA.
I've been online all over the web trying to find out what I think would be simple answers, but can't seem to find them.  I want to make sure that the Palm Pixi will fit my needs like the Tungsten did.  I LOVED the calender function, To Do function, notes, etc.  Basically, everything that I used to use with a paper planner I want to do with the Palm Pixi (as I did with my Tungsten E2).  I'm actually not that concerned about internet connection, music player, etc.  I just need the organization!  And if I get a decent phone out of that AND music, internet, etc., that will just be gravy.  But I DO want the Documents to Go function.  Also, can I Hotsync to my computer's desktop?
Can anyone answer this question for me?  Thanks so much!

The webOS Calendar, Contacts and Tasks functions are much different than the old Palm OS functionality.  Some folks like them better, some not.  There will be an adjustment, no question about it.  Only thing I can suggest is that you give a Pixi a trial run and if you don't like the way it works, return it with the 30-day return period most providers have.
But I DO want the Documents to Go function.
Documents To Go that comes with webOS devices is a read-only application, i.e. it cannot edit or create docs on the handheld.  Moreover, Dataviz (the developer of Documents To Go) has ceased development of its webOS application.  However, it has been announced that QuickOffice will be providing its own Office-compatible application as part of webOS 2.0, which will be upgradable to a version with editing capabilities as well.
