Old Phones and connections
Hi. My Mother, who is getting on, complains all the time about not being able to contact most services as her phone line and phone were installed in the 60's, and has never been updated, so whoever she contacts if the phone response is Press 1 or 2 for "" etc, she will dial one or two just to hear clicks and the utility she is trying to contact hangs up as she has no tones to her telephone dial. I cannot replace her phone as her phone is wired directly into a box on her wall, about the size of a cigarette box, and doesn't have a jack connection for a new phone to be plugged into, she doesn't have a lot of money to spare for expensive replacements, so I am a little concerned about her as most services require you to have a touchtone phone of some kind to get through to who you need. Is there any help for the over 80's to enable them to afford a replacement as technology moves on and leaves her behind. Cheers.
You should be able to call sales ( 150 ) and ask for the line to be converted from hard wired to plug and socket, as I seem to remember this was a free service Bt offered.

hey guys, iv recently changed over from the 4 to the 5 and i have lost my 5. Luckily a few days ago i downloaded find my iPhone but when i log in it tracks my old phone and not the new one. I have logged in so i dont know why it wont connect. I'm really upset about lossing it, if anyone one knows how to fix the problem or another way of tracking my phone that would be great.
The iphone 5 can only be located if connected to a data or mobile network. If in Airplane mode or switched off, it can't be found.

I'd suggest looking over the following articles, as they should be of some use in your endeavor to back up your old iPhone, then restore its content to the new iPhone.

My husband and I have upgraded our phones (iPhone 4s and iPhone 5) to the iPhone 5s. We have given 2 of our kids the "old" phones and want to set them up as an iPod touch. Both kids have email and need to be able to text (iMessage).
I have read multiple posts on how to do this and I am still confused.
Apple ID/ICoud:
We want to be able to monitor what they do, but do not want their devices linked to our emails/contacts/etc... Each kid has their own email account. So, from what I have read the best way to do this is to use our family Apple ID, but set them up with a separate iCloud account? Is this correct?
Reset/Restore/DFU:
To start fresh we have done multiple factory resets. I did one that someone said was a DFU and a plan ol' factory reset, etc... Not sure the difference. However, when I do that I get the "hello" screen and am able to start setting the phone up anew. However, when I go to set the phone up as an iPod I end with the same result.
So, here is what I am doing (tell me what I am doing wrong):
Hello Screen
Asks me to select language and selecting: English
Select Your Country or Region: United States
Choose a Wi-Fi Network: select my home wi-fi network
Enter password: entered my home wi-fi network password
Activiate iPhone - wants me to enter Apple ID and Passwordsays that this iphone is currently linked to an Apple ID (k*******@gmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
Location Services - I have enabled location services
Set Up iPhone
Set Up as New iPhone
Apple ID
Options are to sign in with your Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID
Or I could "skip this step"
I signed in with my Apple ID
Terms and Conditions - Agree
iCloud - I can select either to use iCloud or Don't Use iCloud - I selected use iCloud
Find My iPhone - I can select either to use find my iPhone or to not - I selected use find my iphone
Once I do this it says iMessage and FaceTime and shows the following:
my email
my other child's cell phone number
and my husband's work phone number
This is where things do not make sense. I only want the phone set up with the current child's email address. Where did I go wrong? There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:

Here's a limk with useful tips: Note: It's also valid in IOS 6

I have the iPhone 5s. I synced it with my Mac and got all the old apps from my old phone. I was not able to update any of the apps on the old phone and they will not update on the new iPhone 5s either! What can I do?
Hey there rmflint,
It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

I tried to update my old iPhone 3GS and is giving me a message that it can be activated. This is my old phone and it shouldn't have a line but I Still like to use it as an iPod. What can I do.
Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

My 4 year old daughter dropped my 3GS in the toilet tonight. Otterboxes are not waterproof in case you were wondering. : /
While my turned off phone is buried in a bag of rice, is it possible that I can take the now removed SIM card and put it in another 3GS for the interim? I have an other 3GS (my mom's old one that we use as an iTouch for the kids) on hand that is attached to my apple ID.
If this is possible, is it as simple as taking out the SIM card in my mom's old phone and replacing it with mine? And does this mess anything up when / if I'm able to salvage my toilet phone? Can I take the SIM card and simply put it back in my phone after having used it in the other one?
Thanks.Put the SIM in the other phone and Restore it from Backup in iTunes. If the old one revives reverse the process.

I have around 1,000 photos on my old phone and I want to put them on my new phone without using a backup or iTunes, which would be the easiest way?
I was looking for something on the net, and i run into this post. Am not sure if you have found a soulution or not, anyways, if not here are some programs that i love and they show you every thing in your iPhone:
iFunBox, iBackupBot and DiskAid
am sure they will help you find what you want and then you can just copy them to your computer.
if you use Mac, iPhoto will import everything for you. -
I just purchased an Iphone 5. I'm trying to activate my new phone by using my Icloud account, however it's telling me there's nothing found. I'm looking at my old phone and it does show that Icloud is on. What can I do?
I recently had a 32gb iphone 4 I backed up the phone via cable to my pc and when I tried to sync the 16gb iphone 5 no apps synced and some other data as well there was an error message saying there is not enough room. there is plenty of room on the new phone for apps, is there any way i can access the photos and apps that are on my pc? I am mainly concerned about my photos. Do I have to buy a 32gb phone now?

Could I bring my old phone and top up for a new one?
Could I bring my old phone and top up for a new one?
You'll also want to make sure you have fulfilled any commitment on your current iPhone. If you purchased it on contract then you'll need to make sure you have completed the terms of the contract. Some carriers won't allow you to upgrade to another phone until you have either met your commitment or paid off the existing contract. Check with your carrier before selling your existing device. You don't want to be standing at the counter with a new device only being told that you're not eligible to upgrade yet.

i broke my iphone and got a new one. My iCloud backup has a backup from the old phone and one from the new phone. The new phone didnt download everything from the original icloud backup. Is there a way to download the stuff i didnt get back? please help
You'll have to do another restore from the old phone backup. But before doing that, tell us what was not restored. For example is it just photos that didn't get restored? If so, that seems to be a common problem for many users, judging by the posts left in the forum. There doesn't seem to be a solution to that problem (other then to tell users to ALWAYS sync photos to a computer and never trust an iCloud backup/restore to save photos.

I have 2 phones saved on iCloud storage, one is old phone and other is my new one. How do I restore my old phone data from iCloud storage to my new one?
It shows like 4.3GB is stored on my old and 105.9MB on my new. I want to restore the 4.3 to my new, how do I do that please?Welcome to the Apple community.
You will need to restore your phone and when prompted use the backup that you made yesterday.
Before you do so, you may wish to change your wife's iCloud login details, otherwise you may find that you then overwrite her data. She should have her own iCloud account to avoid this. -
Do I restore the old phone? What should I do?
it now says the old phone is in restoration mode and to restore iPhone.
Hmmm...
That's a doozy. I'll have to think on that for a bit.
Quite perplexing indeed. A quandary you could say.
Not really sure what you could try...
Have you tried anything yet?

Hello fine folks, I want to print out the contents of a photo album onto a contact sheet. Bingo ... iPhoto gives me that option. But a digital contact sheet without photo file numbers is pretty much useless. Is there any way to print a contact sheet
