Old Photo Stream photos don't show up on my new iPhone

My old iPhone only had 16GB and was running out of space, so I turned Photo Stream off on it. However, I have Photo Stream enabled on my Mac, and there are 500+ photos in the Photo Stream album there. I just bought a 64GB iPhone 4S last night, so I enabled Photo Stream on it. However, nothing shows up in it on the iPhone, even when I'm on WiFi. To verify that Photo Stream was even working, I took a picture this morning on the iPhone - it shows up in the Camera Roll and Photo Stream on the iPhone, and it shows up on my Mac. So, my Mac says that there are 504 photos in my Photo Stream, but the iPhone says there's only 1. I verified that my iPhone has more than 20% battery, Photo Stream is enabled, and I am on WiFi.
How can I get the rest of my Photo Stream on my iPhone?

Answered my own question. Net: iPhoto was lying to me. All the photos it said were in my Photo Stream actually were not. On my Mac, System Preferences -> iCloud, I unchecked Photo Stream, then signed out of iCloud. It asked me whether I wanted it to keep or delete my contacts and other things from the Mac - I told it to delete them. iPhoto then showed me that the Photo Stream was empty, and asked if I wanted to turn it on. Instead, I logged back into iCloud on the System Preferences panel. Photo Stream was still unchecked, but I went back to iPhoto and now chose the option to turn on Photo Stream there. After a minute, I saw only the one photo I took yesterday. I dragged a bunch of photos from my "Photos" library to the Photo Stream, and after a few minutes, they started showing up on my iPhone.
I had spent an hour on the phone with Apple Tech Support before this - talked first to iPhone support, then they transferred me to iApp support when they somehow figured out that I only had one photo on iCloud. The iPhoto person told me that there was essentially no way for them to do that, and that it looked like an iPhone problem, then transferred me to a "supervisor" who sounded like she was from iPhone support again. She had me reboot the phone, and wanted me to reset it completely, but when I balked at losing all my passwords, she told me she had to consult with other people and would call me back in 15 minutes, but sent me her contact info just in case. In the meantime, I figured it out myself.

  • How can I retrieve old Photo Stream photos from a lost iPhoto Library?

My laptop was stolen and with it an external drive that had my iPhoto library.  I had an old backup and when I opened the backup and turned on Photo Stream, I saw all my old photos appear again!  After a short while, it was removing old photos from the photostream and replacing them with newer ones.  I'm now missing months of Photo Stream photos that I really want back.  I tried creating a new library and enabling Photo Stream to try to capture those missing images, but I am not able to see anything older than Oct.  I could really use some help if somebody knows a way to get those memories back...
    Thanks
    -Rob

    I had an old backup
What kind of backup? Do you have a Time Machine Backup of your complete system from the time before the laptop was stolen?
To restore the Photo Stream images from that time you need to restore the folder
    your home folder /Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/Assets
This folder contains the PhotoStream pictures that were part of the PhotoStream at that time.
To restore this folder from TimeMachine, open a Finder window showing this folder, make it the active window, and then enter TimeMachine. Go back in time in the TimeTunnel, till you see the correct date. Don't restore to the library but to a folder on the Desktop.

  • Photo Stream photos not showing up in Photos Collections

I've noticed on my iPhone 5s, many photos from Photo Stream are not appearing in the "Photos" tab where I can view photos by year, collections, moments, etc.  I have many Photo Stream photos appearing, but it is sporadic.
On my iPad, all Photo Stream photos appear in the Photos tab just fine.
I've attached a screen shot from each of my devices as an example.  Both devices are pulling from the same Photo Stream, so theoretically, they should be showing the same photos.  My iPad shows 10 photos.  My iPhone shows 2 (shows 3 in the screen grab because one is a video).
How can I force the Photos tab to update to reflect all the photos in my Photo Stream?

I FIGURED OUT THE ISSUE.  But no resolution.
It appears that my iPhone 5s's Photos tab only shows Photo Stream photos of photos RECEIVED from other devices, but not Photo Stream photos of photos that ORIGINATED on my iPhone.  Does this make sense?  Here's an example:
    1) Take Photo A on iPhone
    2) Take Photo B on iPad
    3) Allow Photo A and Photo B to upload to Photo Stream
    4) See Photo A and B in Photo Stream on both devices
    5) See Photo A and B in Photos tab on both devices.
    6) Delete the camera roll copy of Photo A from the iPhone.
    7) Photo A is now MISSING from the Photos tab of iPhone, but is still viewable in iPhone Photo Stream
THUS =  Photos tab is not accessing Photo Stream
I can replicate this on my iPad
    4) See Photo A and B in Photo Stream on both devices
    5) See Photo A and B in Photos tab on both devices.
    6) Delete the camera roll copy of Photo B from the iPad.
    7) Photo B is now MISSING from the Photos tab of iPad, but is still viewable in iPad Photo Stream
This appears to be some way to prevent duplications on your local device.  Apple doesn't want you to see the Photo Stream copy and the Camera Roll copy BOTH in the Photos tab.  However, if you delete the Camera Roll copy, the Photo Stream copy DOES NOT appear in the Photos tab.  This is dumb because I delete the Camera Roll copy as soon as it finishes uploading to Photo Stream.  There is no reason to keep both copies on your iOS device.  However, now I can't enjoy the Photo Stream photos in the Photos tab.

  • TS3989 Photo Stream Photos not showing up on new phone

I bought the iPhone 5 and the photos in my Photo Stream on my iPhone 4 ard not all showing up on the new iPhone 5.

    Hi beverlyfromsk,
Check all your PhotoStream and iCloud settings on your phone and PC:
    1.     Settings>Photos & Camera, make sure My Photo Stream is turned on
    2.     On the PC, make sure iCloud is signed on to the same iCloud account as your device, and make sure that the Photo Stream option is turned on
    3.     In the app where you are normally seeing your Photo Stream, make sure that the settings for Photo Stream are also turned on correctly there.
    Cheers,

  • HT201317 how to transfer OLD my photo stream photos from ipad2 to my laptop

I am trying to transfer all of my My Photo Stream photos from my ipad 2 to my windows laptop. A few of them did transfer, but the majority did not. I have seen posts that say this has happened to them, but no direct answer as to why or how to get them ALL to tranfer?? If that for some reason cannot be done, does anyone have any advice as to how to hook up my ipad2 to some type of device and print them off on a printer?? Is that even possible?? My basic problem is I do not want to lose some special photos that are on my photo stream. If I ever update my ipad2 again, it will obviously wipe them all out. Which make absolutely NO SENSE to me. I just want to save my photos somewhere other than icloud, BUT that is where they are stored??? This is exhausting to say the least!!! Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just to add to my above dilemma...they were initially on my iphone and on my ipad until an update was done on my phone and to my surprise, my backup icloud was not "on" on my phone, BUT it was on my ipad2 so at least they weren't gone FOREVER. I am scared to update ANYTHING on any of my Apple devices for fear of losing what I already have on them. That also makes no sense...but here I am asking anyway.

  • When I switch on Photo Stream I don't see an option to switch on shared photo stream

I am wanting to share an album from iphoto on my Mac (I have Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5) but when I switch on Photo Stream, I am not getting an option to switch on Shared Photo Stream.  Consequently, when I share the photos I've selected from the album to photo stream, I don't get asked for the email addresses of the people with whom I want to share the photos.  Any suggestions?

this is my problem....I have OS X Mountain Lion v 10.7.5 ie not v 10.8.2 or later...
That's your problem. You have 10.7.5 -  which is Lion.
You need to upgrade your OS to 10.8 - which is Mountain Lion.

  • Photo Stream photo syncing on iPad?

I just bought a new iPad, and the Photos app only shows a fraction of my Photo Stream photos. (My Mac's iPhoto app and my iPhone both show more than 700; the iPad shows just a couple dozen of the most recent.) Any idea what's going on? I'd appreciate your help! Thanks.

    Hi astapple,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
To start with troubleshooting this issue where your Photo Stream is not appearing on your iPad, please follow the steps below.
I don't see photos from My Photo Stream on my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
Make sure that Wi-Fi is on and your device is connected to a wireless network. You can use these steps to troubleshoot your Internet connection on your iOS device.
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos.
Make sure that My Photo Stream is on. If it’s already on, turn it off and tap Delete. After it turns off, turn My Photo Stream on again.
Close the Camera app on the device that took the photo. Photos won't upload from an iOS device to the Recently Added album (or the My Photo Stream album in iOS 7) until you close the Camera app.
See if your iOS device is below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, downloads and uploads from My Photo Stream are disabled when the battery reaches 20%. Downloads and uploads will continue after you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.
Due to storage limitations, your Apple TV might display only your most recent photos.

Is there a way to stop iPhoto storing my photo stream photos on the mac hard drive when enabled? They have not been imported to my library. I have no photos saved on my MacBook Air yet 50gb of Hardrive space is taken up by photos. When I turn off photo stream on iCloud preferences the memory is freed up. I like to be able to access my icloud photo streams on
my macbook but it has a small Hardrive and loosing that much space is annoying and it kind of voids the point of photo streams. Is there a way I can stop

Is there a way I can stop
    this ?
No, Photo Stream is syncing with iCloud. The most recent 1000 photos in iCloud will be buffered on your mac, even if you do not import them to your photo library, if you enable My Photo Stream.
See this link:   iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
iCloud pushes all your photos to the My Photo Stream album on your devices and computers, and manages them efficiently, so you don’t run out of storage space.

  • HT201317 how do I save my photo stream photos to my camera roll? It's not working.

how do I save my photo stream photos to my camera roll? It's not working.

Photo stream photos are not included in your backup, only camera roll photos are.  Photo stream photos can only be accessed from an iOS device or computer that is signed into your iCloud account and has photo stream enabled.  However, they only remain in iCloud for 30 days; if the photos are older than that they are no longer available to download.
If the photos were in the camera roll on your 3GS when you last backed it up, restoring the backup to another iPHone should recover them.  If this is an iCloud backup, you'll need to do this before the backup is 180 days old or Apple will delete it.
If you need to restore the iCloud backup to your 4s, back up your 4s to your computer using iTunes, then restore the iCloud backup of your old phone to it, import the recovered photos to your computer (as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then restore your phone to the iTunes backup your made earler to recover your data.

  • HT201317 How can I delete photo stream photos on specific device while keeping it on others??

I am trying to clean up my iphoto because my computer is a snail due to too many photos & I've transferred my photo stream photos onto a thumb drive but now want to delete them from iphoto BUT I DON'T want them to be deleted from my iphone & ipad??  Is it possible to specify that? What are my options??
    THANK YOU!!

Welcome to the Apple Community Katie.
It is the purpose of photo stream to sync all photos to all devices, the only way to remove the photos from the computer without affecting other devices is to turn photo stream off.

  • How to stop Automatic import of photo stream photos?

Photos app is automatically importing every picture from photo stream. Even after deleting the photos in photo stream they are still showing up in the photos library. How do I stop auto import? There does not seem to be a way to stop this. It is saving every pic I take with my iPhone. I have to manually delete hundreds of photos I do not want .

On your Mac, how do you have the options in Photos > Preferences > iCloud set? Is either iCloud Photo Library or My Photo Stream checked?
On your iPhone, how do you have the options in Settings > iCloud > Photos set? Is either iCloud Photo Library or Upload to My Photo Stream set?
You will get the effect you mention if either both iCloud Photo Library options are set or both My Photo Stream options are set (or all four are set).

  • HT201077 photo stream photos not on pc

My photo stream photos do not show up on pc......sometimes I see them for a second and then they disappear......making me nuts....

You need to ask that on the iCloud forum.

  • HT201077 where do your photo stream photos store? I can not find mine anywhere within my icloud.

ive looked through that and it hasn't really been of any help as it doesn't guide you as to where they may ave been saved within a computer or where within the iCloud they might be saved.

Yes.  If you have a PC but don't have the iCloud control panel for Windows, you aren't syncing your computer with your iCloud account, and are not therefore receiving photo stream photos from iCloud directly to your computer.
If you want to back up photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there), then import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.  To save them to your camera roll, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.
If you are running Windows Vista SP2 or higher and wish to sync your computer with your iCloud account and enable photo stream, download and install the iCloud control panel for Windows from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.  Then sign into your iCloud account and turn on photo stream, as explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html.

  • HT204022 If I delete my photo stream photos off of my iPhone will they also delete from my photo stream on my MacBook Pro? If so how can I ensure that those photos are saved?

If I delete my photo stream photos off of my iPhone will they also delete from my photo stream on my MacBook Pro? If so how can I ensure that those photos are saved?

They will not be deleted if they have been imported to your iPhoto library.  To ensure this happens automatically, go to iPhoto>Preferences>iCloud and check Automatic Import:
To confirm that they have been imported to your library, click on iCloud on the left sidebar of iPhoto, open your My Photo Stream album on the right, then Control-Click on your pictures.  If you see "Show in Library" in the pop-up, the picture has been imported to your library and you can safely delete it from photo stream.
