Old photoshop 7 - now what?

I used Photoshop 7 forever but unfortunately realized I lost it when I bought my new computer. I now want to get something (hopefully less expensive) that can do pretty much the same things that Photoshop 7 did. What is a modern day equivelent and do they function in the same way or have the menus and options completely changed over the years? I am trying to figure out how much of a learning curve I'll have by updating. Current computer has a Windows 7 OS. I use the software to alter photos - make people thinner, less wrinkles, better color, generally improve image look. Also used for real estate to replace gray skies with sunny blue skies, get rid of junk in yards etc.

I would look closely at Photoshop Elements. While it will not have CMYK support, as PS 7 did, if you do not do work that goes to a commercial printer, you will never miss that. It has much of the functionality of PS 7, and at a fraction of the price. There is also a very active forum for PSElements, so you will have that for support, if you go with PSE.

I downloaded photoshop elements, now what? I can see all the files and whatnot, but now what do I do? Is there other steps to start using the free trial? I'm not that computer savvy, yet if you tell me in plain english I'm sure I can figure it out;)

Which operating system are you using? I would recommend you begin by launching the setup application to install Photoshop Elements. You might also find the document Install | Adobe Premiere Elements | Photoshop Elements | Windows | Mac OS helpful.

Just installed a new 1tb sata drive into an old g5. Now what is the best practice to use it?

My old g5s memory was full so installed a new internal drive. I have so far partitioned and named it so it is on the desktop because I saw that in a youtube vid. I'm wondering if that was the best thing to do to use it and if so how should I go about using it since my other drive is full and much smaller at 80gb.

Best way to get an exact bootable copy of your old drive to the new one is with Carbon Copy Cloner...

Then boot from the new bigger HDD by setting it in System Preferences>Startup Disk.
BTW, what size Partitions did you use? OSX loves lots & lots of free Space.

Deleted old iPhone update, now what?

I received an error message during the new iPhone update 1.1.1, and I read some of the discussions here about removing a previous iPhone update (iPhone1,11.1.1_3A109aRestore.ipsw) to allow for the new 1.1.1 update. I did that and the update worked, but I am not sure - do I need to keep that other update, or should I just toss it? Thank you!!
P.S. My update worked just fine after deleting the file above.

It won't do you any good to keep the old update since you supposedly cannot revert to it anyway. Trash it and empty the trash.

What can I do password security does not match my birthdate on two of the accounts. Apple can not send me email with a password authorization on several current accounts that I have with them. How can I contact Apple with this annoying problem I can not fix.

settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.
You can't merge apple id.

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

If the old laptop was a mac also, then use your Time Machine backup to restore you user settings and files.

Migrating Presets does not require a network connection and you can still migrate your cc presets if you still have CC installed. Use Photoshop menu Edit>Presets>Migrate Presets... Migrating presets only migrates presets. It does not migrate Plugins, settings, extensions and scripts. CC 2014 is also not completely backwards compatible with CC. Support for Flash Panels and Oil Painter filter have been removed. So extensions like mini bridge no longer work in CC 2014

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

If you have not already done so, repair permissions and restart your computer. Or boot up from your install DVD and run "Repair Disk" from the Utility menu. When done, restart back to your desktop, repair permissions and restart your computer. Suggest that you post in the Microsoft Office for Mac Forums if the above does not work.
