Old Photoshop Album Tags used in Lightroom?

I have a very old but often used Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 product with about 8,000 photos tagged. I also have a very old version of PhotoShop CS I use.
I am trying to avoid going back and setting tags (again) for that many photos. If I upgrade and get Lightroom - will it read the "tags" associated with the photos that I set using Adobe Photoshop Album (and allow me to stop using that old product)?
Thx.

Not completely certain about PSE2, but I successfully imported from PSE3 and that worked OK. I believe there's a couple of ways you can do this. Firstly if you write the tags out to the original image files first (I seem to recall an option in PSE3 to explicitly do this) and then just import the image files, the tags should be recognized. Alternatively I think you can actually import the PSE catalog, in which case the tags will be directly picked from there instead (or as well!).
Suggest you just download the free 30 day trial of LR and experiment a little before committing your $$$ (or GBP, EUR, etc.). I had a few gliches, but it basically worked in the end.

I have an old photoshop album starter edition and it used to work fine with the unlock key – now it just shuts down when the code is entered. Is there something else I can do or is there another program that will let me capture the photos that are in the files of the starter edition?

  • Using Photoshop Album tags on iPod

I have uploaded about 7,500 photos form photoshop album on my iPod. It is all in one big directory. How can I organise them using tags as we can with music?

I am sorry but we no longer have older software available for download.  I am not sure Photoshop Album Starter Edition would even function in Windows 7.
I would recommend trying Photoshop Elements 10 on your new computer.  It has all the features of Photoshop Album Starter Editon plus many more.  On top of that it has been designed to work with Windows 7.  You can find more details at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html.

  • Photoshop Album Tags

    Hallo,

  • Old Photoshop Albums

I had an old free version of Photoshop (Starter). When I migrated to Windows 7 that version was not reloaded but Photoshop CS2 was. Now although that looks terrific, I can't find my albums, collections, tags. I can't import them because I don't have the old version adn I can't seem to find how best to organize all of the photos. They just seem to be scattered around.
    Thanks

Nope, no way. Those old tools used custom databases that are not accesible by any modern version of PS.

  • Finding old photoshop albums

    ref: 5719544#5719544
I can still find no obvious way to continue a conversation thread with Patty F.
The screen with the latest question and answer doesn't seem to have a follow-up question link.
I'm after some old albums that were on photoshop.com
and were supposed to migrate if I did nothing.
    When I log into
    https://www.adoberevel.com/libraries/b01b5e138b2f4b6298e6ad225673b19c/albums
there is only one icon and it's for the album that I added recently within Revel (=1308WI), i.e.,
I don't get the 3-4 albums that were supposed to migrate from photoshop.com
by letting the default (move the files) transfer take place.
I appreciate your patience with this thread.
I'm trying hard to make myself clear.

  • Ugrade from Photoshop Album 3.2

Hello, I  still use Adobe Photoshop Album 3.2 Starter Edition and think of upgrading to Photoshop Elements. If I do so, is the database of Photoshop Album (Tags, Albums,...) still available and usable in Elements? Am I loosing information available in Photoshop Album? Is Elements offering all features of Photoshop Album?
    THX for Your answers

You can upgrade from Photoshop album 3.2 to Elements 11 successfully. No information gets lost in conversion process.

  • Trouble converting a catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album into Elements 9

I have looked all over and found instructions for converting a catalog from Adobe Photoshop Album into Photoshop Elements 9, but it does not see my catalog?  I have tried selecting it by clicking "Find More Catalogs" and I select the folder containing the catalog but it does not show up and the option to "Show Previously Converted Catalogs" is disabled?  I am quite frustrated, as the entire reason for purchasing Adobe Photoshop Elements was to be able to import my old Photoshop Album catalog.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion, I have tried converting the catalog from the psa file as well as restoring from the psb (backup) file and neither one is working on my new computer.  It partially converts the catalog from Photoshop Album (PSA) 2 but then all the file links are broken in Photoshop Elements (PSE) 9.  I have about 10,000 photos in this catalog, so it is a lot of files.  I still have my old computer so I tried installing PSE 9 on it and then it converted the PSA catalog fine, so I backup up the PSE 9 catalog on my old computer and tried doing a restore from this backup on my new computer and same thing, only some of the files come through.

  • Lightroom 2 from Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0

I plan to install Lightroom 2 on a Windows 7 PC and move all my photos from an old XP machine with Photoshop Album 2.0.  The old photos are organized in folders extensively.  Any tips on how to do this with the least aggravation and get things reorganized best?  (Or would another Adobe program be easier for migration from Photoshop Album 2.0?)  I hope to share the new photo collection on Windows 7 with 3 different users on the same PC. Thanks for any tips.

I partially agree and partially disagree with dj-paige.
The first thing that i do after importing my photos into PSE or into Lightroom, is to tag my photos. I have more than 30'000 cataloged photos and they are all tagged. Tagging the photos is essential to me, because the tags helps me a lot to find/search-for photos; Tags are without doubts an essential organization tool.
However after tagging my photos, the next thing that i typically do, is to organize my new photos into one or more Collections (typically one Collection per subject). Organizing my photos into Collections allow me to show, see, edit/develop my photos in the sequence of my choice. This sequence is often
    -  the sequence in which i will wish to show/see my photos
    -  or the sequence in which I will wish to edit/develop my photos (typically, the most similar photos, adjacent to each other in the sequence of the Collection - this is often not the chronological shoot sequence).
I understand that not every PSE or Lightroom user wishes to do the same as I do and that not every PSE/Lr user cares much about Collections. But for me, Collections are an essential organization tool.

  • Move photos from old PC running Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition, to new PC running Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.

    Hello,
My old PC (Windows XP) has 8500+ photos with loads of tags attached using Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition.
I'm trying to move all photos, and tags, to my new PC (Windows 7) . I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on my new PC.
All photos have been copied from the hard disk on the old PC to the hard disk on the new PC.
But how do I move the database/tag information between the old and new PC / between' Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition' and 'Photoshop Elements 8'?
All help is highly appreciated, as I really don't want to add all this valuable tag information manually...

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
All tags are correct, but PSE automatically reconnected only approx 5000 of the approx 8500 pictures (the picture directory has been changed)
See this FAQ for how to beat the Reconnect command into submission:
