Old Photoshop stopped working. Dead.
Photoshop 4 came 14 yrs ago with a fancy shmancy scanner and it worked just fine in recent years on VISTA.
One day a couple of weeks back it just stopped. It hung trying to open. No viruses, no system updates, no conflicting processes. I checked all that. It just stopped.
So I uninstalled it and was going to reinstall it. I put the CD in. Clicking the install photoshop button the hourglass went a little, then dead. The other menu buttons on the CD splash screen worked fine. Other CDs worked fine. I downloaded the trial for CS6 and that works fine as well.
But I cannot afford CS6 and frankly it has more things in it than I need. That Photoshop 4 was legit and suited my needs, but somewhere in its programming, deep in the registry, something said "okay 4 yrs on this computer is enough and 14 years on anything is enough" and disabled the product. Only thing that makes sense.
I don't think that's right. Full version is a full version. At least offer an older release for the disenfranchised. A CS3 or CS5 would more than do... unless someone knows what it takes to reset this CD?

You could also try selecting properties and try and going to the compatibility tab. You can then try selecting the option for Windows XP. Otherwise I think we need an error message to diagnose the install issues.

If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.

Photoshop stops working when i do anything 3d on it. Please help.
Photoshop stops working when I try to open a project that I have already started with 3d in it, also does the same thing when I start something new and try putting 3d in it, it stops working. I just bought a new computer only 2 days old.

Installed TWAIN devices: NONEYes, but most likely the graphics card's drivers will be tens if not hundreds of updates old. A brand new computer isn't going to be fresh off the press with updates applied. You need to get the most recent update for your card.

Photoshop stops working after pc comes out of 'sleep mode'
Hello,
Photoshop stops working lately, when I start my pc out of 'sleep mode', I get the warning box 'Photoshop CC doesn't work anymore'.
Is this a known problem, can I do something about that? Thanks in advance!

MarcelIt's not "green" but I suggest never using "sleep" type operations. Windows and its drivers have never been good at making the transitions into/out of such modes, and probably never will be.
Just leave it running or save all your work and fully shut it down. Allowing the display to power down may be okay as a compromise, but even that could be problematic.

Take out 250 fonts. See if the problem goes away. If it does, then you know the bad font is in them. Load the other fonts back in small batches (10-12) and test after each one.
If the first 250 fonts does not solve the problem, take out most of the other 250 ... leave only the basic fonts that came with the system. Then load the others in 10-12 at a time, testing after each.
Free fonts are not always free. Sometimes you have to spend a lot of time to make sure they are good fonts. -

Look at your system crash report for your Photoshop crash. See what module failed. I its is in you printers driver. See if the is an update available for it.

Why has open with photoshop stopped working
I have been using the 'Open With Photoshop' addon since it first became available but it has now stopped working since the last FF update. I've tried reinstalling etc. but makes no difference.
Having the same issue with 'View source in Dreamweaver'
I use these features a lot so any help would be much appreciatedGo to their support sites and check for updates. Also ask questions.

CS 5 Photoshop stopped working Yosemite and Java SE 6.
My Photoshop CS 5 has stopped working on my Mac loaded with Yosemite and Java SE 6. I get a Fatal Error. and must exit. All other products from the Production Premium suite work. How do I get the Photoshop component to work again.
Did you reinstall Photoshop CS5 after upgrading to MacOS 10.10?
You need to reinstall to replace Photoshop files damaged by the MacOS installer.
Then make sure you have all the Photoshop updates installed.
