Old pictures on the desktop and invisible dock when I change user

I have a late 2011 macbook pro with Mountain Lion installed. This problem came out with this OS. In practice, when I log in with my secondary account (without password) and change to the administrator account (with password), the Mac loads old pictures on the desktop, and the thing where the dock's icons usually stand is invisible.
This appears not to be shown when I log back into the secondary one and re-log in the Admin.
Why this happens? And how do I fix it? Help please, it's getting quite annoying...

Most likely one of the two computers has a corrupt data which is not allowing the Sync to complete.
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Sorry your pictures are gone.
you should be doing this for all your pictures/videos http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 that way you can sync it back via itunes.

Moving gif Picture on the desktop

On my old pc, I had a gif picture on the desktop that moved. It was an American flag waving in the wind. I would like to have that on my iMac. Is there a way I can do this? Help is appreciated.

This might solve your problem: Open IPhoto and click on Share, select Desktop. Then go to System preferences, select the Desktop and Screensaver, then select Choose Folder, then select IPhoto, and a new folder called IPhoto should appear along with the other background folders (e.g. Plants, Pictures Folder). Click the new IPhoto and select the photo you want. In my case, I like to select the feature that allows random changes every 15 minutes. Hope this works.

A Volume-like icon appeared on the desktop and it stays on every application I open.

I have a month old HP Pavillion 23 with Windows 8.1. About 2 weeks ago an icon that looks like a volume guage appeared on the upper left side of the screen on the desktop and it stays on every application I open. If I clck on it, the purple guage goes from the bottom to the top and the numbers on the bottom go up to 100. What-ever it is, it's also preventing me from opening/clicking on the Start icon or tabbing between open apps. How do I get rid of this?

I understand that about 2 weeks ago the volume gauge appeared on your computer and is it causing you grief. I recommend that you follow the steps in the HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8), which is also good for Windows 8.1 and restore your computer back to just before the volume control appeared. This will in effect remove the control and allow you to continue to use your computer without it's interference.

Thank You. This helps me alot to get into the masters and to see events and photos in a utilitarian way, but it is not as easy as viewing the normal iphoto format to find photos. Can I do something else or did I not do something right to not see normal iphoto in Time Machine ?

Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing. Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade. The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back. When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again. Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.

I accepted iOS 8.3 upgrade last night on our iPad and now cannot turn it on - get as far as a black screen with the picture of the charger and itunes logo - help please!

I accepted the latest 8.3 iOS upgrade last night which resulted in my not being able to turn on the iPad.
Following the troubleshooting guidelines I can get as far as the black screen by forcing a restart (holding both buttons) all I can see is the diagrammatic picture of the charger and the iTunes red logo. I cannot move on from here and the instructions indicated that a message should show offering the iOS upgrade - but this is not happening for me!
If anyone can help it would be hugely appreciated - many thanks.

It sounds like your iPad is in recovery mode after an error in the update process that may have occurred. The solution to this would be to plug it into a computer running the latest version of iTunes and press the restore button. This will ease the iPad and reinstall iOS. Hopefully you setup an iCloud or iTunes backup for the device.

Iphoto 6 will not allow me to make a picture on the desktop

The desktop button is greyed out in the lower menu bar (and upper menu bar too).I looked at the system pref - security that was suggested in the post for another person but I do not have that issue. Nothing is checked. I did not have this problem in iphoto 5. Could you please help me?

How do i download pictures from the internet and convert them to jpg file?

im a fulltime mom and i help my children a lot on their projects. just got my new macbook pro and was surprised that i cant easily save pictures form the net to my macbook using jpg format. please help

as I am not a Mac user, I cannot fully respond to this, but as Klaus1 said, you will probably be able to just drag a picture to the desktop. This will not change the original format of the image though. So if the image you are trying to get is a gif, png or (best case for you) a jpg file, it will still be that.
In order to change that, you'll need some sort of program to edit the picture (like Photoshop, Picasa or Gimp where you can then save it in the desired format.

Sounds like you have assistive services activated (There is a three finger short cut you may have in accidentally pressed)
Check Accessiblity in system preferences
under display make sure Grayscale is not checked
under audio make sure flash display is not checked
As for the dock make sure you haven't got it hidden by placing mouse pointer to each of the left/right and bottom screen edges
If not go to the following folder in finder.
Open Finder window and mouse and click to the Go menu to view list of actions. On your key board press the Option (alt) key and you see a extra action location added after Home - this is the hidden library folder in your Home directory
This contains all sorts of personal setting preferences
Now continue to hold down the option key and mouse click on the Library item to open the contents in the main finder window.
Within the window locate and open the folder - Preferences
Locate this file from within
com.apple.dock.plist
move this to the trash
Shut and restart your Mac
The default dock setting will appear - Empty trash

You don't. Backup your itunes library on the old computer and move it to the new computer.
