Old problem new angle:EXS24 instrument audio file not found -but its THERE!

So I know this has been posted on before, but I've read the forums and my problem seems slightly different.
Was trying to open tenor sax, or alto sax.
Created a new EXS24 track. In the Logic Studio Library it comes up with a long list of folders, bottom is '12 Legacy Instruments', inside that all there is is '05 Horns and Woodwinds' and '08 Drum Kits'. I go into Horns and Woodwinds, there are my instruments. When I click them it says not found.
I checked in my finder window, (application support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/ 12 Legacy Instruments/05 Horns and Woodwinds). They ARE there. So that baffles me.
Now, someone said on another forum its because they arent in the right place and SHOULD be in garage band (application support/garage band/Instrument Library/Sampler/Sampler Files/12 Legacy Instruments/05 Horns and Woodwinds), so I copied them from the previously described Logic destination to there.
They STILL aren't working. It seems like Logic is looking in the right place but it says it cant find them?!
Please help!
(P.S - Annoyingly if it comes to reinstalling Logic Studio, I don't think I can do that. I bought my Mac Mini off ebay, and have forgotten the admin password, and have no OS discs to reset it. So until I can do that, I can't install anything (as you need the admin password. Any solutions that don't involve reinstalling Logic gratefully welcomed!)

What I think you have to do is refresh the Spotlight index. Open the prefpanel Spotlight, go to the Privacy Tab, put all your disks on it (just drag 'm), close the panel, reopen it, remove the disks, close the panel, let your Mac sit for an hour or so while it is creating Spotlight indeces from scratch. Use *Activity Monitor* to check if Spotlight is done indexing. If you see MDS or MDWorker still active (=using CPU), it is not done.
O and BTW, you should create an account for yourself of which you do have the admin password, or you will not be able to solve many possible problems.

  • Audition CS 5.5 new computer QTCF.DLL not found but its there

I have Adobe Audition CS 5.5 and the latest Quicktime installed on both my old Windows 7 laptop and the new Windows 8.1 laptop that I'm working on setting up right now.
On the old laptop I am able to open an MP4 video file (downloaded from youtube) and get the audio.
On the new laptop I get a message that QTCF.dll is not installed and it won't let me open audio from the mp4 file.
I used Winmerge to compare the various program files directories of both Audition and Quicktime and they are identical! And the directory that has QTCF.dll is on the PATH.
So why am I getting this error and how do I fix it?

    Hi srothkin,
It sounds like there may be an issue with the installation of iTunes and it's related software. Try running through the removal and reinstallation steps in the article linked below on your new Windows 8 laptop.

  • Logic X EXS24 - audio file not found

I know this question crops up often and is usually a Garageband/missing downloadable contents issue but that's not the case here.
I'm a long time Logic user (pre Apple)  and can usually work my way around issue or find answers online, but I'm completely stuck with this one.
I've been running my current setup for about eight months now (new Mac Pro, latest versions of Logic Pro and OS) with no problem at all.
I have an extensive sound library stored on external drives (Pegasus2) via Firewire and everything has been zipping along, then yesterday for no know reason EXS24 suddenly gives me the "audio file not found" message when trying to create a new instrument.
All previously created EXS24 instruments load just fine as the audio files were copied onto the project drive, but Logic no longer sees the library on my external drive.
The external drive is working just fine (troubleshooting shows no errors or issues) and I can access it just fine, load sounds into other applications etc), I can also manually drag individual samples into my EXS24 instrument so that it "sees" them, but very impractical to do this with so many audio files, and obviously that's not how it's supposed to work.
I thought I had found a workaround yesterday by making an alias of the folder containing the sound library and copying the alias to User/Music/Audio Music Apps and that worked while I was working yesterday, but on loading Logic today the problem is back.
I've reindexed the drive in question with Spotlight..
As mentioned, this setup has worked for months (and for years on my previous hardware) but suddenly Logic can no longer see those files via EXS24.
Any suggestions as to why this suddenly happened, and more importantly, on a permanent fix?
    B.

It doesn't really matter where you put the samples, as the EXS will search for them when you try to load an instrument that references them.
The reason why the "davidfelton" bit is in there, is that the location of the samples is stored inside EXS files. At load time, if the samples are not at that location, the EXS will search for them, and once found, will write the new location back to the EXS file so it doesn't have to search next time.
If the EXS cannot find your samples, then open the EXS preferences and make sure your default search locations will find the files (ie you don't have it set to look on one drive, when the samples are on a different one).
Or you can use the project managers "resolve" function to update the sample locations to all the EXS files in one go.
    Any probs, post back...

  • Logic Pro X: Audio file not found?

I have Logic Pro X, and this problem has never occurred before but...
I was mixing one of my songs and everything was perfect, then I made sure to save it.
As I reopened literally 10 seconds later (not sure why I even closed it) it was showing me a message that said "Audio file not found"
At least 12 audio files went missing out of nowhere. It's only the files recorded from Logic that are not found.
I tried to locate them through my Finder but I don't know where my audio files are stored onto my macbook, and it doesn't seem to be in an easily accessible place.
It's just weird because they were all fine just before I closed Logic, then they disappeared.
I checked the audio bin in Logic and they seem to be there but they seem corrupted.
If anyone can help, or at least show me where audio files are stored on your mac from recording through Logic, that may help.
    Thank you.

    To clarify:
    Logic Pro X
I have also experienced this issue as a result of having recording delay set other than zero, and rectified it by returning to 0.
    Otherwise,
    [Command 8] or
Window > Open Project Audio, select audio files that appear flatline, click 'Audio File' menu at top left, click 'Refresh Overview(s)'.
No way I know of to auto-enable this.

  • When i try to open my projekt in logic pro x it say audio files not found?

when i try to open up a projekt in logic pro x it say audio files not found why is this heppends?

This error typically means the audio files you used in this project are no longer found in their original location.. (did you move or delete them?) or you have renamed the audio files..... or they were located on an external HD etcand that drive or disk is no longer available.... because its not plugged in.

  • I have 3.6 & am trying to upgrade to current version. When trying to update didn't work, I trashed 3.6 & tried new install. Keep getting "File not Found" page.

Could not update from 3.6 (said I was not authorized). Tried trashing 3.6 and accompanying files and do a clean install of new version. When I click to download I am redirected to a Mozilla "File not found" page. From there I try clicking on Firefox and downloading the English(US) for OSX file and it directs me back to the same file not found page. I have tried this several times.

  • When I attempt to load a new webpage, I receive a "File not Found" message, then multiple new tabs open with the same message; additional browsers pop up with same message. This happens when attempting to load any page. I've unloaded Firefox once already.

  • [Solved] grub2: file not found but booting fine

I just ran grub-mkconfig to update my grub.cfg because I installed E4rat. But now I have a problem: Every entry in grub2 can be booted and E4rat really boosted my boot process so actually everything is fine. But while grub2 is loading it says something like:
    Grub 2 is loading...
    Welcome to Grub 2!
    error: file not found.
    error: file not found.
    error: file not found.
Now grub shows up and everything is as it should be. When I select Arch it again says "error: file not found." three times and continues with a normal boot process. So basically it's nothing that would brake my system but something seems not right and that's just a huge annoyance.
Here's my grub.cfg just in case:

I have the same error message as in the first post.  "error: file not found" listed three times when I first choose Arch from the Grub2 menu.  The solution linked to by the.ridikulus.rat would not seem to apply as I do not have the locales en* in /boot/grub/locale  BTW, I am in the US.  The system does boot though.
I just fixed this a few seconds ago and was going to post how, basically I just did "cp /boot/grub/locale/[email protected] /boot/grub/locale/en_US.mo" which seem to do the trick, the reason I didn't fix this sooner is the error only stays up for a very small fraction of a second making it hard to read.
    # ls /boot/grub/locale
    ast.mo da.mo fi.mo hu.mo it.mo nl.mo ru.mo uk.mo zh_CN.mo
    ca.mo de.mo fr.mo id.mo ko.mo pl.mo sv.mo vi.mo
EDIT:  I get the same three "error: file not found" messages when I boot Fedora (a multiboot system).  This is with grub2 installed from Arch Linux.

  • File Not found, but music is on iPod

OK, this is strange. I just added some more music to my iPod. But it said that 27 songs hadn't been added. But, they ARE on my iPod, and in my iTunes library and the preferences is pointing in the right direction for the library of all my music. So why do I keep getting file not found?

I think you misunderstood the problem. Music is on my computer in my iTunes folder under the correct file name and when i try to play the file using itunes there is an error message 'original file cannot be found, would you like to locate it?' If you locate the file where it is supposed to be, it will play the song. It seems to just be losing information about where files are stored on my computer randomly. Could this be because my files are stored on an external hdd?

  • Audio file not found - deleted

(I've read some of the old threads about this, however none of them seem to have a solution as far as I can see.)
So the problem is that I'm regularly receiving error messages when I open a project, which say "Audio file x not found", and this repeats for all the audio clips previously recorded. The "search" function is pointless because the lost audio clips are nowhere to be found, not even in the recycle bin.
To say that this is annoying is an understatement - when you've spent a day working on a song only to find that everything has been deleted it is very very annoying. And this is simply NOT acceptable behaviour for a program - I mean, it's not a bug ... a bug would be that it changes an audio effect every now and again, or changes the timing ... deleting all the audio tracks recorded is a SERIOUS problem, and I don't want to use Garageband again until I feel safe that it's fixed.
I should add that I recently did a clean install of OS X and that didn't seem to help. Yes, I've repaired disk permissions, that didn't help either. Interestingly I hadn't experienced this problem while I was using M-Audio's fast-track for the mic. It's hard to say that it's connected but I've been using a Samson USB mic for the past 9 months, however the problem only really started in January/February. I'm using GB 09 (v5.1, 398), on a mid-2009 Macbook Pro, OS X 10.6.7.
If you have a solution, I promise I'll give you a credit in the album notes of my next EP. Thanks!

The same thing just happened to me. I spent a whole day working on a song rough draft and opened it up to work on it again and it had resorted back to a saved file from days before. I know I had saved it because I had opened it up this morning and it was fine. I restarted my macbook pro and it was all gone. Now I have to rearrange the drums and record guitar and vocals again. Big problem apple....not cool.

  • Problem saving png error (Hex 0xBFF604A5) File not found.

Does anyone have some insight into how to correctly save a .png file that I grabbed from an IMAQ image?  I've been trying to use IMAQ write file 2.vi, but it doesn't seem to be able to create a file.  My code works fine if I pass it an existing .png file to write to, but it chokes once I tell it to save the image to a non-existing file.  I'm not very familiar with the IMAQ file I/O, but I assumed (wrongly) that it would work the same as the normal Open/Close file vi's that you can give write/replace/create permission to.  I attached my vi (sorry it's kind of a mess at this point).  Any suggestions?  Thanks,

    drummerguy-
We have encountered this problem before. Typically the solution is checking the permissions.
-The most common reason is if you don't have 'write' privileges in the folder you are trying to write to.
*If are unsure about this, you can check by trying to create a new file manually through windows explorer in the directory that LabVIEW is trying to write a file to. If you can create a file there, but LabVIEW cannot, then we can try something else.
-Another possible reason is if you have any illegal characters in your filename such as "%, /, \"
*A good filename would be something like "C:\test\test.png" for PNG files. If you are writing to a specific file type, could you try to write to a different type (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP) and see if you get the same results?
I would try these things first and see it your problem persists. I hope this works for you

  • "Error Result code = -43" AND "Audio file not found"

In Garageband I was trying to  click Join, but kept getting "Error Result code = -43"
    What does this mean?
Also, I thought saving the file and restarting Garageband would help, but upon re-opening the program BIG problem: the file (just this one, others are opening fine) has this error message upon opening "Audio file “07 I See the Light.aif” not found!"

    mcgregorsgal wrote:
so do I have to basically start over?
for that one recording, it looks like it.
the error -43 is a system level error, so i HIGHLY doubt this will help, however you can ctrl-click the project file, choose Show Package Contents, open the media folder and preview any audio files in there to see if the missing file is there, but in all likelihood, you will need to re-record it

  • Guitar Lesson 2 - Audio file not found

This is the error I receive when I try to load "Guitar Lesson 2" of the "Learn to Play" lessons. (Audio file "Guitar2GTRs2MiXv3.caf" not found.) I've tried deleting and re-downloading the lesson several times. I found the missing file but only when I browse to it myself, nothing appears in Spotlight. This is the only lesson I'm having this problem with. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for referring me to the proper thread. It works fine now. I was deleting only the downloaded lesson not the cached lesson file. Hopefully Apple will check into this.

    1. Quit GarageBand.
    2. Goto /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Working Copies
    3. Delete the Guitar Lesson 2_Chords - G, C
    4. Start GarageBand up and enjoy Lesson 2.

  • "Audio File Not Found"

What do I do to stop this message from popping up every time I open my Logic project?
I've deleted all my tracks in the project and started fresh so there's no recorded files in the project and there's only one track and this still comes up. If I click skip, it comes up about 10 times (I know skip all would only require once but I just want it to stop).
I'm recording with 5 mice at one time and if we get off time I just hit the delete key on the file like in this image.
Am I deleting these files incorrectly or something?
EDIT: I tried find this question in the forums already just to make sure I wasn't asking something that had been answered already.

    Hi
Open the Project Audio Browser, select all the files and regions that you don't need ( use Edit:Select Un-used) and delete.

  • Audio file not found. Please help restore??

Arrgh! Hopefully someone can help me! A section of recording has gone missing from my podcast made in Garageband 3 and I have no idea how to get it back!
The podcast was intact when I saved and closed down for the night, then in the morning when I opened the file, a message box popped up saying 'Audio file "Recording#586.aif" not found! It gave me the option to search for it, which I did, but nothing came up.
I've tried searching my computer and servers, but nothing again.
I have no idea how this could have happened! The strand of lost recording is in the middle of the podcast and the rest of the file is unaffected. Unfortunately, the strand was recorded separate to the preceding and following strands, so I can't recover the missing file by extending out the other strands. ****.
If anyone has any suggestions or can offer any help, I'd be super grateful!
    Thanks

Ah okay, that's handy to know, thanks. But that shouldn't affect the original files that I'm salvaging, right?
I'm able to retrieve the unedited GB project files using FileSalvage, but that end bit of the recording is always missing. Even though these are the original files and nothing's been edited or chopped away.
The only thing that I can think might have caused this mysterious disappearance is that the segment that's gone missing is the very end bit of the project, and the recording only stopped because GB automatically stopped it. Due to lack of space or recording capacity or something. Maybe there wasn't enough memory or something to conserve that final segment. I don't really know...
