Old QT refuses to uninstall...causing iTunes to not install and work.

How can I uninstall QT?
I've gone to the Add/Remove Programs and tried to uninstall it, but a window pops up titled InstallShield Wizard and says: Quicktime setup is preparing the InstallShield Wizard, which will guide you through the Program Setup Process. Please wait.
Can anyone who knows what I'm talking about help?
  Windows XP

Okay. First: you are amazing!
& thank you so much for helping me.
Second: I changed the Folder Options, and I did another search, and instead of just searching drives C and D, I searched the whole computer, and came up with a lot more (42) files. Although almost half was Apple/QuickTime history from the web, the others were actual QT files, and most of them deleted right away. The leftovers are 2 notepad files that can be deleted, but I don't know if they'd have anything important in them, so I just left them. As for the other 2, one is a File Folder that is holding that QTtask. The other is an MPP file (not sure what that is), and when it's right-clicked, deleting isn't even an option.

Itune was not installed and i defaulted to pictures to open iphone 5s in windows 8, how do i change default to itune or nothing?

You need to try and explain your problem again. I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to describe the problem as. What do you mean you defaulted pictures to open phone? What default are you referring to here?
You can import pictures from the Camera Roll of the iPhone to the computer, and you can sync pictures from the computer to the iPhone using iTunes, but I don't know what you mean when you say defaulted pictures.

  • Update to iTunes will NOT install and all subsequent attempts to reinstall fail.

I was informed of an update to iTunes tonight so I tried to install it. It would not install. "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." A second error message pop up stating "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (WIndows error 126)"
I've tried reinstalling iTunes 3 times. After each time I've cleared cache and temporary internet files and re-booted. I've used Firefox, IE 10 and Google Chrome. Nothing works.
I need this fixed. It was working great until Apple decided to put out an update that screwed everything up.

Go it done. The key appears to have been UTTERLY removing EVERYTHING - even going so far as to delete every iTune folder under Users/Local, LocalLow, and Roaming, and Programs Files, and clearing out all Temp files.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes will NOT install (and presents no errors either...)

Had iTunes on the machine, had to uninstall it for some reason.
Trying to put iTunes back on, so I downloaded the latest version (32bit just like my Win7) directly from Apple, and when I double click on iTunesSetup.exe, the mouse pointer goes busy for a short time, and then NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS.
No errors or any other clues or information.
Here is what I have tried:
    -running chkdsks on all drives
-removing all apple software on machine
    -removing iPod device from Devices
-trying to install different versions of iTunes or iTunes from different sources
-uninstalling my security and antivirus programs
-Edit: Also, yes, I did Run As Administrator
No matter what I do, nothing happens. I can see the iTunesSetup.exe process show up in the Processes tab of the Task Manager for one second, before it quietly vanishes again.
What should I do? I NEED iTunes for my iPod Touch.
How can I get iTunes installed?
Running a very nice Quad Core machine with a GTX285, windows 7 RC.

I tried downloading iTunes to my computer. It gives me an error where it says can not find iTunes Helper. I uninstalled all iTunes, restarted my computer, and then tried again. I keep getting the same error everyime. What can I do?

Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.  Please uninstall iTunes,  then install iTunes again.  Error 2 (Windows error 2).
Many thanks. That issue will be causing the iTuneshelper error message too.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes won't open. it says "Error 7 iTunes was not installed correctly" I know I did though. Now what? Should I uninstall? I don't want to loose my music!

I have the latest version of iTunes and when I went to go open it, it can't! It says: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.Error 7 (Windows error 126)"  What do I do now? Should I uninstall and try installing it again? I don't want to loose any of my music and info. PLEASE HELP!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • When opening iTunes I continue to get the same messages, 'The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing' and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7 (Windows error 126)' I've uninstalled, reinstalled many times - nothing! help please.

When opening iTunes on my new Windows 7 PC I continue to get the same messages, 'The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing' and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7 (Windows error 126)' I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times to no avail, even tried it on a different user account and still nothing. I recently installed Panda Internet Security 2012 (about 12 days ago), initially iTunes worked fine as usual but within the last few days I've been  unable to open it with the same messages appearing. I've read through some of these pages and tried everything that's been advised, uninstalling and reinstalling while internet and laptop security is swithched off, downloading tools to completely remove anything related to iTunes, tried it in Safe Mode, nothing has worked. I've also noticed that in the start menu when I click on iTunes, it says '(empty)' where it should have the logo and ability to start the program, does this mean it doesn't download + install properly each time I've tried? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

  • HT2731 how can i sync my Apple ID to my iTunes sign-in?  I have an old ID showing up in my iTunes sign-in window and cannot get rid of it to show my current Apple ID.  I don't have the old password to the old ID in order to "manage" my account.

how can I sync my Apple ID to my iTunes store sign-in window?  An old ID keeps showing in the iTunes sign-in window and I cannot get rid of it to show my current Apple ID. I don't have the password for the old ID in order to "manage" my account and make changes. Help.  Thanks.

Did you create a new account or did you update your existing account with a new email address ? You can tap on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stpre and sign out of it and you can then sign with the new/updated account.
If you did create a new account then your existing content will remain tied to your old account, so only that old account will be able to redownload that content and/or download updates to its apps. If you can't remember the password for it then you can try getting it reset via this page : http://iforgot.apple.com

  • I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searxhed evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason.

I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Tried to upgrade and after uninstalling and reinstalling several times, keep getting "procedure entry point could not be located in dynamic link library" followed by "iTunes was not installed properly"  Error 7.....Help, please??

Tried to upgrade as instructed and after uninstalling and reinstalling (even back to the former iTunes which I was happy with)several times, keep getting message "Procedure entry point could not be located in dynamic link library"  followed by "iTunes was not installed properly"  "Error 7".    Help, please??

Entry point errors can usually be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of from the programs and features control panel. Unfortunately you neglected to include the detail of which dll is mentioned.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Take a look at iTunes for Windows: "Error 7" message when opening iTunes. Perhaps your .NET Framework needs a repair.
