OLD REMOTE WORK ON NEW I MAC

Have  new IMac. Will old rmote work?

No.
If you want to control your new iMac remotely and you own a mobile iDevice, there are remote apps you can use on both your iMac and iDevice.
These apps work over Wifi and/or Bluetooth.
Apple has its own remote app simply called Remote.
Another, which I use and is a very comprehensive remote app, is called Rowmote Pro by a developer called Regular & Rhythm.
If you want complete and total remote control access to your Mac, look at Splashtop Remote.
There is also a dedicated WifI and/or Bluetooth remote for Macs and iDevices by a company called Satechi.
Found here.

  • Old i book and new i mac

    Hello
I have a new i mac with leopard on it but want to get an old i book for going to college to do typing spreadsheets etc and then put it all on the i mac when i get home. Are there any communication problems between new and old. Will an old pages programme work with the new one?

It should, since I'm told that even ancient AppleWorks works with Leopard. I know that AppleWorks works with my MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo running Tiger.

  • Mail not working in new mini mac

i got new mini mac and mail not working. i get this message.
You have Mail version 4.2 (1078/1084). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 (Build 10K549). For more information, click the Help button.
    dont know what to do
    thanks

Should be Mail 4.5.  With Spotlight, check to see if you have more than one version of the Mail app onboard.  Also, make sure that there is one at the root level of the Applications folder, and that it is namely simply Mail before applying the Combo.

  • Transferring iPhoto library from old MacBook Pro to new Yosemite Mac Mini

Please can someone help me figure out how to do this correctly? My old Macbook (4-5 years old) died and I ended up buying a Mac Mini the other day. The store backed my old iPhoto library up for me on an external hard drive. I simply transferred the library across to the new Mac and opened up iPhoto. However, everything is out of sync- no albums etc, plus for some reason tons of photos with people in them now have been duplicated with just close up head shots. Something I have never created. Strange.
I followed the instructions when prompted with this message....'The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.' But just as I think it has been upgraded, I then get this message 'The photo “edit1.jpg” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.' So I press cancel, but then it reappears for so many photos that I just give up.
What to do?! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Dd you download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader?
And did if then open and upgrade the library?
The Mac store did a complete back up of my old Mac on an external disk, but I have a feeling that maybe the library backup within this just isn't right.
There are two ways, your photos could be missing.
Either the iPhoto library has a corruption, iPhoto cannot find the photos inside the library. Then rebuilding the library can help, see Terence Devlin's post:  iMac iPhoto Media library
Try both options 1 and 2 from the post, if the first did not solve it.
The photos may really be missing in the library, but still be somewhere in the home folder backup on your backup drive. First try connecting the missing files by rebuilding as described above. If still files are missing after that, search for them on your backup like this: When you get a warning, that xxxx.jpg is missing, search for that photo on your backup with Find Any File. If you are lucky, all photos are in the same set of folders: You can download Find Any File here: The trial is free: http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/index.htmlhttp://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/index.php
Find Any File can search inside packages, where Spotlight will not search.

  • How to get old functions working on new keyboard

I purchased a new metallic keyboard to replace the original on my Mac G4, and downloaded the specified software update. Now the keyboard works, but some of my applications that had functions attached to the old function keys won't respond to the new function keys, which Apple reconfigured to do other things. Is there a workaround? I tried reconfiguring System Preferences, but nothing there makes sense.

I am trying to get te @ key to function by pressing down the normal shift+' key, It is a windows keyboard I am using. Any clues anyone. cheers Janny
It's the software keyboard layout that determines this. The Mac "British" layout puts @ at Shift + 2. If this drives you crazy, you can download and install a different layout:

  • Trying to get my old macbook working like new again.

I have an old black laptop, probably around 2005/6 not too sure. I dont really have any of the manuals or any of the disks anymore.
I think from years of use from a teenage girl (and a few new batteries) its giving up. It become really really slow and its got to the point where its quicker to use my phone for things or the horrible computers at college.
Really was thinking of wiping it completely clean which i was hoping would give it a new lease of life. I know all my passwords for things like facebook and my emails, i have an external drive i can copy all my files that i need onto, whats the next step?
There is noting apart from photograhs and a few word doc's that i need. I am running version 10.6.8 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM.

No, but Apple is selling the disk on their store website.

  • HDMI audio stopped working on new 2010 Mac Mini

I am running snow-leopard server. I have the HDMI connected to a Pioneer Elite SC-27, then via HDMI to a Panasonic Plasma TV. I get the digital picture feed just fine on the TV, but there is no audio. I checked the audio settings, SC 27 is selected as output.
Audio was running fine earlier today... just stopped working. Anyone else experience bugs with the HDMI out audio?

Try shutting down the computer and turning off the receiver and tv.
Take out the HDMI cable and swap the ends and make sure it's seating fully in both ports.
Then turn on the receiver and tv.
Then power on the Mini and immediately hold down these 4 keys on the keyboard: COMMAND OPTION P R
Hold them down until the computer chimes 3 times.
See if that resolves the problem.
If it doesn't, I would try another HDMI cable.

  • HT1752 F*** THAT MY G4 IS OBSOLETE, CAN'T APPLE MOVE MY OLD OPERATING SYETEM TO NEW IMAC??

MY OLD, STILL WORKING MODEL G4 POWER MAC, HAS APPS & DOC'S THAT ARE NOT SUPPORTED
ON MY NEW IMAC. CAN'T APPLE PARTITION MY HARD DRIVE (ON IMAC) AND INSTALL THE OLD OPERATIONG SYSTEM.
SO THAT I CAN AT LEAST READ MY OLD DOC'S.

Try being a bit more specific and maybe you'll get a useful response.
For example what Applications were you using on your on your G4?
You could move the G4 documents over to the new iMac and potentially use them with updated applications and/or replacement applications.
You got 6 years out of your G4 and it will still function within the parameters that it was purchased for... NOT BAD!
BTW:  You will be unhappy with your new iMac WELL BEFORE 2018....

  • Transferring microsoft works spreadsheets to I mac G4

I am attempting to transfer my business accounts from my old PC to my new I mac g4. The accounts are currently held on microsoft works 2000 version 5 in spreadsheet form. I can move them onto the mac using a flash drive but the mac can't read them. Any ideas?

    Hi supered,
Basically your only going to be able to open those files with Works as it uses it's own file format. A possible solution for you would be to open the files in Works on your Windows PC and then save them in a different format. If they are word type documents then save them as ".doc". If excel then save as ".xls". Now, obviously you'll need to have Office for Mac on your iMac in order to open them there. If you don't have Office for Mac and you don't want to crack out the coin for it then a NeoOffice is a free alternative.

  • Clearin data from my old G4 onto my new computer so I can donate it

How do I transfer all the data from my old G4 onto my new power mac? I want to donate the old one but wnat everything on it to be moved onto my new computer.
Is there a way to then clear the old one before donating it?

What model is your new Mac? Migration assistant is usually the standard means for going from one computer to another, but there are a few caveats.

It Copies your Home Directory onto the New Computer, so the new one will start up with all your old data in its rightful place.

To clear the old drive you should boot to the installer disc and run Disk Utility. Erase the drive with write zeros once selected in the security options. This overwrites the data and makes it hard to recover without very special and costly drive analysis. You can write more than once but unless you have very secret data once should be enough. More times takes much, much longer and I believe the highest option might take days, depending upon the drive size.
Make sure you include the discs that came with the computer to the seller. They will need them to install the OS and for computer hardware testing. If you intend to give them a newer operating system you should give them the newer discs as well. Any operating system on the computer should come with a set of discs for licensing purposes and for use in repairing the drive should problems arise.

I just replaced my old iMac with a new 27" one.    My old Mac had one of those old Apple remote controls that used a magnet to attach to the side of my machine.     Can I use it on my new computer?
