Old Rosetta Stone disk is asking for an administrator
I have had an "old" Rosetta Stone 2.2a (version 2) disk that keeps crashing on my 1 year old (10.6.6) Macbook. I also use it on my imac and it works fine.
I've uninstalled the application by dragging it to the trash and emptied the trash.
Now putting the application CD back in; it is saying that I am not the administrator. Which I am; I have to sign on everytime I use the computer; I'm the only one on it.
Rosetta Stone tech support sent me back to apple to become the administrator.
Someone have an Idea what I need to do?
What I would like to see happen is for the program to work on both computers.

Try entering a wrong password- or simply leaving it blank- and tap Enter key. After 3 times it should give you a disabled code. Post the code.

New to the community! I'm having problems downloading the new OSX Maverick. I come to last step and the system asks for the Administrator password.

Reset Password using Recovery HD
Boot into Recovery Partition.
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click in the menubar and select Restart.
Log in.
If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”. -
i cant install the new firefox 6 on my laptop because it keeps asking for the administrator password during the installation and i dont know what is it for this laptop
I read a way on another forum to fix this problem. Right click on the setup.exe and select "Run as administrator" this should solve your problem.

Have down loaded Maverick two days ago. To activate it asked for my Administrator ID which I had forgotten.
Now i have managed to change my ID. Now to instal Maverick I cannot find it on my computer. If I down load it again it will use my Internet plans %gb mor from out provider. I am trying to install an app in my iphone. When I click Install, my old gmail account comes up for verification and it asks for my password etc. I dont use this account anymore and have a new gmail account that is associated with my apple account. How can I get the new gmail to default when I am trying to install apps?
Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID. -
I Changed my Apple ID and PW they work fine. But the old Apple ID keeps popping up asking for a PW, how can I get rid of the pop up request Or the old Apple ID? This only happens on the iPad.
Sign out and back into your apple id from Settings>iTunes and App stores>(Your apple ID)>Sign Out and then sign in again with the new address. Close app store from running in the background (or restart the phone if your unsure how to do this). If when trying to update any apps they are still asking for the old apple ID, delete and re-install those apps.

backed up my old i-phone 3 to my computer. tried to sync new i-phone 4S to computer to restore info. It is asking for a password. I never assigned one. How do I get to my info????
iTunes will recognize your new phone as a different device from your old phone. Do you have any information on your new phone that you want to save? Restoring to the backup of your old phone will overwrite your data and settings with those of your old phone. If you want to save any data on your new phone, you'll need to do this first. After doing so, connect it to iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left side and select Restore from Backup, when prompted, selecte the backup of your old phone to restore from.

I have a small portion of hy hard drive set aside as an encrypted disk image. Since installing OSX Lion, various actions that dont require access to that disk image (printing to PDF, opening Aperture) ask for the password, and wont do anything til I provide that password. Has anyone else run into this, or more importantly, found a solution?

Download firefox, extract, it ask for administrator name and password or you can click current account (current account is administrator in my case) I click current account. The window goes away and nothing else happens.
i have this problem too but its done now,
just right click in your firefox.exe than choice run as administrator.

Macbook pro mid 2012 backing up from disk ulitiy asking for "login" keychain?
I bought a "WD My passport For Mac 1TB" portable external hard drive since I can't get into my macbook pro mid 2012 10.9 because when I turn it on its just grey screen with apple logo and spinning wheel. I went to future shop to the geek squad and they did diagnose of it that is wasn't the hard drive but the operating system with problem. Which makes sense since I did the apple hardware test, disk repair/verfy, permissions repair/verify and they all came back with saying my volume is ok etc.
SO my question is to back up my files etc. I do the command + r and go to disk ulitiy and click on "Macintosh HD" and then click "New Image" and then select "My Passport for Mac" to save on there. What I want to know should I put "compressed", "read/write", "read only" or "DVD/CD master" for Image Format? AND For encrytion, do i pick "128-bit AES encryption (recommended)" or "256-bit AES encryption (more secure, but slower)"?
Also I have one more option before I go to my genius appointment on saturday is to do the "erase and reinstall" option. Of course I need to back up my files to do that which is why I am asking the questions above. Can any one link me to the "erase and reinstall" option OR tell me your experience on how to do it OR how to do in overall? Also, is it an effective method? I already have the important files on my google drive, have my microsoft disk stuff on my USB, the only app I kind of don't want to lose is my "Notes" app. Also for the apps I downloaded in Apple store they should be still there even if I erase my hard drive?

Also If I erase hard drive and then reinstall mavericks OS X from "command + r mode" and after that hopefully I can get back in would I hook my external hard drive and then open the copy of the "macintosh".dmg and drag everything back on? or...? -
Disk utility asks for password for authopen when creating images
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion from Lion 10.7.4.
Now, whenever I use disk utility to create a image from a CD/DVD, I get a dialog window saying that :
authopen is trying to open the chosen file.
Type your password to allow this.
I never saw this dialog in Lion. Why am I getting this message?
Also, after upgrading to ML I cannot eject the CD/DVD after my cdr or dmg file is created. I have to wait a few minutes. In Lion I only had to wait a few seconds.
I tried the usual permissions repair, reboot, etc.

Target disk clone asking for restart not starting up
Hi. this is regarding a macbook pro 2 which came without an OS. We are transferring the HD of another MB Pro to the new one. We connected the two machines with a firewire 800 cable and made a clone of the HD on the new computer.
When we go to start up the new computer (with the cloned drive), the apple comes up followed by a screen that says : you need to restart the computer, hold down the power button or press restart. Since there is no restart button on the keyboard (my assumption-I'm doing this remotely with a friend 1000 miles away), I had him hold the power button and restart the computer. After six attempts, including removing the battery and power cord for thirty seconds between attempts, nothing has worked and the same message appears. We cannot startup from a supposedly bootable disk (CCC clone of presenet HD).
Any suggestions? Am I missing something?As stated above, I had him clone his MBP HD to two separate partitions on an external HD for safety reasons only. When we tried to add a few (recent) files from his desktop to either of the clones we got a dialogue box that said files could not be added. There was tons of space, and both were fully bootable, so my thought was that there might be some sort of protection software installed on his drive that was preventing the addition of files (which I do all the time to the clones on my machines). It turns out there isn't any strange unknown software, so I'm at a loss to explain the dialogue. It's a good point about the formatting. We made it a two partition drive via disk utility, so I would assume the formatting would automatically be updated to Mac at that juncture, and also each clone is (and has been tested as) bootable.
He currently has a macbook pro 2 running 10.4.11 and is installing to another one of the same. Don't know the model numbers yet. Is there a way to find out whether it's an intel machine without first installing an OS? Adding to our difficulties: it's a used computer from ebay, he doesn't know squat about computers, I'm a thousand miles away.
There is no installer disk being used at all. He is cloning his HD from the computer he has to return to the university to a newly purchased (used) computer. CCC is the software.
It would be nice to get him up and running at least by the time he gets here, although the news today was that the IT guy with the University will upload everything onto the new machine (I guess with Leopard, if necessary) when he returns. so at this point it's a matter of convenience and curiosity.
