Old Themes - 'Portfolio B&W' - Menu Toggle is WACKY

Hello Hello
I'm using FCEHD, and have created 4 DV clips that I exported into the Movies Folder.
I've tried repeated to create a properly functioning Menu and it's not going well .....
I'm using an Old Theme template called: B&W Portfolio
I drag the clips into the template and when I try to adjust and edit the Menu Buttons (using preview), I can't get the up-right-left-bottom toggle functions to work properly. And of course this malfunction is transfered onto a burned disc. The remote control on the DVD player also gets SCREWY
What the heck could be going on??
Guess I'll try using a different Menu Template, but it seems (I've already discovered), that the other templates that don't have the motion thumbnail style, seem to respond correctly (toggle correctly)
Ummm??

Hi and thank you for your reply
The problem is that at least ONE of the thumnail images
(buttons), cannot be reached easily. Cannot be accessed by the remote control button. It does seem I can pretty much get three of them to work properly, but I can't get to the 4th button to work.
Let me try to be very specific:
As I mentioned, I would prefer to use the template called 'B&W Portfolio'. I would love to be able to drag 4 movie clips into the template. The template itself is designed for a maximum of 5 movie clips, so this SHOULDN'T be a problem.
Everytime I try to rearrange the buttons, to try to get them to work properly, it seems that NO matter what configuration I try, (using the 'free-style' technique),
the buttons will NOT respond in the correct manner.
The controls will NOT toggle over to at least ONE particular button, (one particular thumnail).
And this is reflected in both the 'preview control', and on the actual burned disc.
It's frustrating ....
And as I said, this problem doesn't seem to appear on the other template types, (especially the templates that do not have the moving thumnails - previews).

  • Moving panes from 4.0 and Old Themes does not move/motion on burned DVD

I have iDVD 5.0.1 (626) and am in the process of creating DVD menus. iDVD 5 gives you the option of using menu Themes from *5.0, 4.0* and *Old Themes*. I have noticed that the sliding pane feature found in Montage in 4.0 and +Moving Bars+ in *Old Themes* function properly when creating the menus (and you click on "Motion"). But after the DVD has burned (both DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs), the moving panes are not moving.
    Why no motion?

It's possible in that version of iDVD that there's no motion unless you click the motion button before you burn the disc (looks like a man walking; button turns green when clicked).

  • How to get Old Themes into iDVD 7.1.2?

I'm running iDVD 7.1.2 on an iMac running Mavericks 10.9.1.  When I open an iDVD project I have access to theme for iDVD 7 and iDVD 6.  When try to select an Old Theme a window opens inviting me to install additional themes by choosing Download Now.
However, when I choose OK to download now the App Store opens to the Update screen and tells me there are no updates available.  What gives?  How are the old themes to be installed?

Did you have all of the themes previously on the iMac?  Look in the Home/LIbrary/Applicatiion Support/iWeb folder or in the HD/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to see if all the themes are there.
Did your Mac or a previous Mac come with install disks and was iDVD preinstalled on it?  If so and you still have the disks you can use those disks  to do a custom install of iDVD's themes,  If you have trouble getting the disks to work you can always use  Pacifist to extract and install just the themes.
Otherwise you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • IDVD old themes

    Hallo!
I'do like to know where i can download the old themes for IDVD.
I have The 7.0 themes, the 6.0 themes but i can't use the old themes.
Do you know where i can download and install them?
    Thx
    Richard

If you have access to a Mac that hat all of the themes you can copy the iDVD folder that resides in the HD/LIbrary/Application Support or the ~/Library/Application Support folder to the same location on your Mac, replacing the existing folder there.  That should give you access to all themes.  Otherwise a purchase of the iLife 09 disk is needed to get all themes.

  • Getting back old themes in Keynote 13

I upgraded to the new Keynote, and while I like some of the new Apple themes, I'm missing a few that they decided to get rid of. Specifcally, I used the "Imagine" and "Story" themes all the time (I teach), and now they're gone??
Is there any way to get them back?
I use keynote every single day, and I think this might be one of the biggest Apple changes I've ever had to get used to (and I've been using Macs for 20+ years)!

If you upgraded from iWork '09, you should still have a copy of Keynote 5.x in your Applications folder.  It is probably in an iWork '09 folder now.  Anyways, if you still have it then you should be able to create documents using those two themes.  Once you do that, you can then open them in Keynote 6 and go to "Save Theme…" in the File menu.  Then you will be asked if you want add it to your theme chooser.  After adding it, you will now see a My Themes tab in the theme chooser in Keynote 6.  Hope that helps.

  • Can't Install Old Themes (using iDVD '08 on Leopard)

    Hello,
I have a problem opening old projects (created using iDVD 3 or 4, can't remember) in iDVD '08 because I'm not able to install the old themes that are necessary. When I try to download the themes the software update program doesn't seem to find them as an available update. Trying to install them from my Max OS X disc fails with an error message that I need at least iDVD version 7.0.
    Any ideas?

iDVD will be on the system install disk. Use Pacifist to locate, extract and install iDVD from it. Move your current iDVD to another location or rename it so you can go back to it after the themes are installed. You might even be able to locate the themes package with Pacifist and just extract and install them. I'd look at that first.

  • IDVD 08 "old themes" won't download in Software Update

I have iDVD '08 (v7.0.1 1091) installed from an iLife 08 DVD running on a Macbook Pro with 10.5.4
This is my first time using iDVD, and I want to use one of the old themes that are grayed out. I get 3 options to install the old themes
1 and 2 are "download now" or "download later", which are both supposed to download the themes the next Software Update runs. I've tried both options several times, though, and the themes never show up in Software UPdate.
Furthermore, the 3rd option is "install from DVD" and it asks for Mac OS X Install Disc 2. When i try this option, in put in disc 2, then the package opens and starts the install and it says "This update required iDVD version 7.0 or newer", which I obviously have....

EDIT - i completely reinstalled iDVD from the OS X discs, then went through the disc-based theme installation again, and now I have all the themes.
Nonetheless, it would still be nice for the Software Update theme installation to work...

  • Blackberry bold, old theme - precision verizon

So Verizon recently sent me a new phone to replace my old one which is having problems. but I'm debating on whether I want the new phone because of the new theme/layout. I really do not like the new layout of the icons and stuff... I know the theme that I like on my current Blackberry is called Precision Verizon, and the layout is Zen. Can I get the same theme/layout on the new Blackberry even though it has the new update on it? I did not see the Precision Verizon theme when I went to options > theme on the new phone.
Please answer ASAP, I only have 4 days to send back the old phone, or the new one if I cannot have the old theme on it.

    Hi,
If, on your new device, you go to Options>Theme, then you have OS 5 installed.  On OS 6, themes are under Options>Display>Screen Display.  You can double check your OS version by holding down the left Alt and Shift key and pressing the H key.  Your version will be listed next to App Version.  The default theme installed on all Verizon Wireless Bold 9650 devices is called Blackberry 6 for Verizon.  If you want to install the Precision Verizon theme on OS 5, you can do so with Blackberry Desktop Software.  Hope this helps.

  • How to install old themes on Tiger

    Hey folks,
I bought iLife 08 or whatever (iWorks maybe?) with my MacBook Pro back in the days of Tiger, installed it and am now running iDVD 7.0.3 and missing the older themes. I have not gone over to Leopard although I got it with the MBPro.
I read up on it and see that I am to reinsert the original installation disks and run the Additional Software installer. No can do- there IS only the Optional Software installer and it did not do the trick. In fact I ought not have done it... Am worried I overwrote perfectly good, updated, apps with old versions. Hmm...
Is there somewhere where I can get the old themes, perhaps even just pick and choose? I am only interested in Wedding Silver, Picture in Picture and a couple of the others like the one with the old cine projector.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I used Google for some more themes and eventually also installed iLife's ones again. Not ideal but at least there are a few new ones. Now- if we could completely customise them...?
