Old version exp (8.0.5) problem

Hi there!
I4m having problem running EXP on HP-UX. When the dump file
reaches 2gb the export stops with an error message saying it cannot write the output file. The OS is enabled for large files already. Does EXP 8.0.5 have a problem with large files (>2Gb)?

exp, imp and sqlloader does not handle output files > 2Gb.
This applies to Oracle 7.X, 8.0.X and 8.1.X, and is a bug.
However, 8i introduced the FILESIZE option to allow you to specify multople output files.
FILESIZE=0 (default) Causes one file.
FILESIZE=1024 Causes 1K files to be generated.
FILESIZE=1K Same as above.
FILESIZE=1M Causes 1Meg files to be generated.
FILESIZE=1G Causes 1Gig files to be generated.
You must use the 'FILE=' parameter on the Export to specify the multiple filenames.
You must also use the same 'FILE=' and 'FILESIZE=' parameters on the corresponding Import.
If the amount of data exported could not be fit into the list of files provided, export will prompt for more filenames.
Example:
Export the 3G table ORDERS to three 1G export files.
exp demo/demo file=(orders_1.dmp,orders_2.dmp,orders_3.dmp)
log=orders.log filesize=1g tables=orders
I seem to remember reading something about using Unix pipes to split the output file (Pre-8i), but I'm afraid I don't know the syntax.
Maybe one of the other guys will know.

if ur experiencing quitting apps, probs w/ itunes7, etc, and u have oss (ANY version), get rid of it immediately.........
the new updated version is even worse than the original.....
goto the uninstaller or delete it with appzapper (if u can get it to stay open...)

I have done that, several times.
So this is where I'm at now - last night, immediately after finishing a movie that was on my WD hard drive, which holds all of my media, music, movies - I restarted my computer and then it would not read the drive. It said it was unreadable.
I brought the Mac and the drive into an apple store today - they said basically it was my hard drive causing the issues. I used my iPod classic as my media back up as the 160 gb could hold all my stuff. Well, as I mentioned previously, that can't sync and I restored it, with no success. So in essence I lost my media drive and the back up. Tough to swallow, I'm angry, I think it's still mountain lion causing the drive to fail.
So I resolved to go home and restore my computer to one of my time machine back ups and do a Snow Leopard reinstall. Well, the moment I returned from the apple store, the time machine drive is now listed as unreadable. I called support, spent hours with them - I now have two drives which fried within 10 hours of each other in the same error. The senior support manager agreed it sounds like mountain lion is indeed corrupting my drives somehow. My iMac currently won't start into the recovery disk. So I went out spent $200 to get a new hard drive, which I am now backing up my data onto with a new Time machine.
In the last week, I've lost my iPod classic, iPhone 4, two external hard drives and now possibly even the Mac itself. I'm going to install snow leopard and see if it alleviates any of my issues, or hopefully can read my drives. I truly believe Mountain Lion is the problem.

Old Version Of Itunes fixed my problems

Just for those who want to give it a try. I had problems for the last week, unable to get Itunes to work, then Quicktime. I finally uninstalled both products and cleaned out all traces of both programs. The only thing I didn't do was mess with the registry. I then tried to install 7.01 again. I had the same problem, it kept saying "an older version of Quicktime could not be removed" and "Apple Software Updates can not be removed". After reading so many posts of others having similar problems, I did a search for older versions of ITunes. That did it and the problems are gone. For those who are as frustrated as I was, here's a link you might want to consider. All the older versions of Itunes (quicktime). Good luck.

I recently upgraded my apple devices to ios7 can I go back to the old version. I having many problems that I never experienced before the upgrade. Mostly battery drain. I'm an lucky to get 5-6 hours of no use.

What OS version? What's the exact error? Exactly when does the error occur? What previous versions? What is on the screen when the error displays? Does Photoshop get fully open?
Try opening Photoshop holding down Shift key immediately to turn off plug-ins. Lots of good suggestions here: Photoshop: Basic Troubleshooting steps to fix most issues

Do not know about 5, but, just installed PE 6 on I7 64 bit and it works.

How can I fix this "Adobe two-version" problem, so only the latest version stays enabled, the old version stays DISABLED, and/or uninstall the old version?

I went to my add-ons tab, and I DO, in fact, have two versions of shockwave flash, an 11.9...version, and a 13.9..., which, if I'm not mistaken, is the latest version. There is a "ask to activate, always activate, never activate" button for EVERY add-on. I clicked never activate on the older version, and closed the tab. I then tried to play a video off of the Web. It would not play, I tried another site with the same result, so I went back to my add-on tab, and the button for the older version had changed back to "always activate" by itself. It continues to repeat this, and WILL NOT stay on "never activate". Every few times I return to the add-ons page, THE NEW VERSION IS DISABLED, AS WELL AS THE OLD ONE. I've tried to uninstall the old version, but when I go through control panel, and bring up the folder contents, the old version isn't even there! I've done start, find, and typed in "Adobe", and the old version is NOT FOUND! Both versions keep changing back and forth on the activate button, and they both will disable on their own, no matter how many times I fix it! smh!!

@jscher2000: Didn't mean to lose contact. I still don't have my playback problem solved, if you can believe that. I've downloaded the uninstaller / installer links with someones help that's on this forum, used them in the exact same order. It did nothing to help. However, I was in the process of attempting your solution. I made sure all browsers were closed; in fact, I went offline before this procedure. When I used find, and typed in Shockwave, it came back..."no search results". I recalled a path I had previously used, and had to use it instead of find, C:/ Acer/ Windows/SysWOW64/ Macromed/ and here there were files for Shockwave AND Flash. I opened Shockwave, says " this folder is empty". Flash Player and Flash Util plugin, Util32 Active X, NPSWF32_13_0_0_214.dll...all files appear correct, BUT why aren't there ANY files in the Shockwave folder? NONE of the buttons you describe in your steps to let Firefox "clean up" the pluginreg.dat file show in my window...if I am in the right window. My username is at the top, and it's drop-down is "3 button"+sign out. One says settings, but it doesn't take me to any "help", Trobleshooting info, "show folder", nor any way to exit Firefox or to start it back up. Settings goes to "edit settings", and has a list of checkboxes...all with something to do with threads in one aspect or another, and one concerning private messages. Sounds to me like I don't know what I'm doing, am on entirely the wrong Mozilla /Firefox page, and I'm NEVER, EVER going to get this damn video playback crap fixed once and for all. Some sites will let a video play, but they are rare. Vikings.com is the one that has me red-faced. NOTHING plays there. Except ads, of course. You can't get those to STOP.

Problem removing old versions with customization wizard 8

I'm trying to deploy Acrobat Reader 8 to our XP Professional desktops via Active Directory software installation (Windows Server 2003 domain)
I have obtained the MSI release of Reader 8, customised it using Adobe Customization Wizard 8, and deployed it through AD as per the Adobe documentation. This works as expected for new machines without a previous release of Reader installed.
However for desktops that have Reader 6 or 7 installed, we end up with two versions installed side by side (visible in Add/Remove Programs). Reader 8 works fine at this point. Removing the older version causes the PDF file association that Reader 8 created to be broken, also the Internet Explorer browser plugin is broken. Reader 8 has to be reinstalled manually to fix this issue.
I have read that Reader automatically removes old versions of itself when you install a new version. Additionally, when customising the MSI, "Remove previous version of Reader" is greyed out. However it appears that the installer is not removing old versions.
Any ideas as to a solution?

I have the same problem and i have wasted like 50 hours on this s**t. I'm trying to deploy reader 8 on our 1800 XP workstations with SMS 2003.
The cutomization tool is totally useless. The only way i have came up with is to create a script wich checks if earlier versions of Adobe reader is installed by looking if the installation folders exists (for example c:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader ).
If the installation folders exists, the script would run the uninstallatoin string of the reader using its Windows installer product code, like this:
MsiExec.exe /x /qn {AC76BA86-7AD7-1035-7B44-A70000000000}
Now, the problem with the script is that we have several versions of reader 6 and 7 including 3 different languages. The script or the .BAT file would be quite complicated and the testing is allmost impossible.
I think that it would be much more easier to create a script that deletes all the shotcuts for Adobe reader and then installs a Freeware product for openig PDF files.

In my opinion, adobe products are a nightmare for IT admins and their support system is even worse than Microsofts.

You're not saying what problems you have with OE, so how should anyone guess?
There is no such thing as a 'Thunderbird account'. You do have an account with your email provider. You can use OE or Thunderbird to access that account.
But Thunderbird is not your email provider.

Problem transfering info fm old versions of Mail and Safari to new versions

For years I used a G3 iBook with 10.2.8. Now I have a G3 iBook with 10.4.11 newly installed. My problem is with Mail and Safari. I can't get the new version of Mail to import my old emails. And I can't get the new version of Safari to import my old bookmarks. The old versions won't run on 10.4.11. And the new versions can't "see" the old version which I copied over. Any ideas?

The most likely explanation for your bad experince was pre-existing Disk corruption, never messed up on me.
Right you don;t get a choice, and to do it now if the Usernames are the same requires a little footwork, but not too bad if you have Disk space.
There are other ways, like for Mail you could first use Eudora to Import Mail, the import fro Eudora to Mail if you prefer Mail.

In the address bar type "about:config"
You'll see a warning:
Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" and open the configuration page.
Type "java" in the search bar.

Serious problem with old versions of sub-vi's installing on application upload

I am having a series problem which is proving wildly frustrating.
I have recompiled an application but when I upload it on the host computers the host computers seem to upload old versions of the code even though they have been deleted.
I smell a Windows Cache problem but can't see how to get round it.
Anybody have any ideas. If not should I shoot myself before or after I get fired?

I've been compiling and deploying LabVIEW applications for a long time, and never seen a windows-cach problem!
Here are a few (of my) mistakes that resulted in execution of old code:
Forgetting to update the Top-level VI in the .bld, after the top-level VI's location changed.
Compiling to a different location than the one I copied the "new" EXE from.
Compiling with Installer option, then switching-off Installer option (for faster compiles), then, post compile, instead of copying new EXE - doing an Install and installing old EXE!
After copying or installing new EXE to host, forgetting to update menu-options and "shortcuts" - which still point to old EXE.
Some ideas:
Write a new/unique version# to the Main VI's Window Title (VI properties), so you can tell quickly which version is running.
After compiling, pay close attention to the creation time of the "new" EXE to be sure it is new.
After copying or installing, launch the new EXE by double-clicking on it (don't trust existing shortcuts.)

Problems uninstalling old version

I have created a new user and profile on my computer in order to access a SBS2011 domain server.
On the new user, I tried to install the BB Desktop Manager 6.0. So far no problem. but when I start the desktop manager, he always tries to install the BB 8520 Curve driver. I don't have that phone anymore since months as I bought the Torch 9800.
I tried to uninstall both BB desktop managers 5.0 and 6.0. Version 6.0 is no problem at all to uninstall, however, version 5.0 is always asking for the installation drivers for the old Curve.
As a conclusion: I cannot uninstall version 5.0 or use newer version 6.0 as long as desktop manager is asking for the installation drivers of the Curve.
What to do please?

Since the install file is looking for the 8520 files, try downloading and installing the device software for the 8520 on your PC and then trying the uninstall again. You can download it from the provider's download site in this list. http://bbry.lv/ad7CII
