Old version of Elements

History
Happily running, and quite at ease with, my copy of Photoshop Elementsb on WinXP
Have now upgraded to Win7 64bit with a new hard drive and the copy will not load!
I am being advised that i require IE4 or above, yet IE10 IS installed
Any way i can get around this problem?
Thanks
Ron
( could i ask it be advised in KISS mode!!!)

Version is, according to the disc 1.0.1   !!!!,which was working ok on XP
The new HD was a brand new install from 'cold' of Win& and is 500gb. I do have a 2TB sitting on the PC as the E drive with only photos on
I did read somewhere, that there is a site where you can download  Elements/Photoshop that will work on Win7 and by inputting the original security  code will unlock everything, but surely that is an urban myth.
Even though the OS has changed I would have thought it would work
The 'timeline' when i install the disc is
The Adobe Welcome ascreen appears...press next
Choice of language screen....select  US English press next
Licence Agrrement  ...Accept
Adobe photoshop screen with four buttons
Installation    explore
Adobe Photshop Elements
Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05
Click elements and install...... disc spins ...get a message asking if this prog can amend the PC  OK
Then get message saying IE4.0 or greater needs to be installed, BUT i have !E10
Could it be it is a 64bit Win7 that is the problem?

Hi Ian, thanks for the suggestion.  That means I will have to write a vi that executes after the application loads and it has a list of all the vi's with front panels that I want to minimise.  Seems do-able as long as I can be sure the vi does its work after all the vi front panels have loaded.  Maybe a time delay before getting into the nitty gritty work of shutting front panels, will do that.  Cheers.
    Hi Herbert,
Assuming that you already know which are the VIs that will be loaded with FP, by placing and setting that Front Panel Windowtate property in each of those VIs (as first portion of code to be executed; could be made into an sub-vi), those VIs shall minimize themselves at when loaded (and run).
Hope I am correct up to this point of time as for my existing projects, only one FP has to be minimized
    Cheers!

  • Troubles with the installation of an old version of Elements

I have a quite old version of Elements, regularly purchased. I have just changed my system and I would like to install my Elements Package on my new PC. But it seems to be impossible as an error message appears, saying : "before the installation it is necessary to get Explorer 4.0 (or a more recent version). In fact, MS Explorer is already installed on my machine (the most recent version). My operative system is MS Windows 7 Professional. How can I solve my problem? Many thanks in advance.

There is apparently a problem with IE10+ in that it is mistakenly seen as being IE1.  To get around this either use a different browser or use compatibility view (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility -view#ie=ie-10)
It might not be possible to install your older version on a new machine but it depends on just how old it is.

  • Installation old version Photoshop Elements 4.0 Windows 7, IE 4.0 required, what if you have IE 11.0

I have an old Version of Photoshop Elements 4.0 on CD and used it long time on Win XP, now i use Win 7.1 and need a new installation.
Worked till i was asked after Internetexplorer 4.0 was required, and i have IE 11.0 - that is higher - and the Install stopped and doesn't go further.
How can i install it? IE 6 or 7 won't work with Win7.
Any ideas? Will not buy another PSE, for my business it's good.
    Thanks!

You might try XP mode if you have the right version of Windows 7:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7
Otherwise, you can buy PSE12 from Amazon for about $60:

  • I need to download an old version of Elements

I have/had Elements 8 and loved it. I had to restore my computer and now I can't find a way to download Photoshop Elements 8. I have my serial number and all that stuff, just can't find a way to downloa it. HELP...... I am not able to upgrade at this time.

You can look for online if anyone is still selling old versions but you can try using trial of PSE11 and see if you love it.
    Thanks,

  • Deleting old versions of elements?

I would like to delete older versions of Elements to save room on my hard drive.  My question is if I do this will it effect the new PE6 that I just installed or can it stand alone not dependent on the older versions?  I am using a Mac OSX 10.4.11
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much for all your help.

  • Uninstalling old version of elements

I just bought elements 10 yesterday when it was on sale.  I was under the impression that it would update my version 8 of elements, not leave it on.  So I now have two versions of elements on my computer.  Much as I like elements, it is a big space hog.  Is there a way I can remove version 8 without messing up my new version 10?
    thanks

Yes, they're separate installations.  Use Start...Control Panel...Programs and Features to uninstall PSE8.

  • Install old version of Elements?

I am trying to install an older version of Photoshop Elements (I have the disk and serial number) I don't even see a version number.    When I run the installation it says that I need to have at least IE version 4.    I am running Windows 7 with IE 11.   Any ideas?

    Which version of Elements exactly?
Re: IE4 message. There's a known bug in Adobe's download managers (reported to Adobe but not yet fixed) whereby they struggle to recognize IE10+. They seem to think it's IE1 for some reason.
    Try a different browser.

  • Is there any reason to keep old versions of Elements?

I have installed Elements 6, 9 & 11 and in addition Premier Elements 11. Given that I have Elements 11 and Premier Elements 11 is that any use for versions 6 and 9?

It's best not to drag to trash. See these notes:

I have used Elements 2.0 for years.  Although I have purchased two newer versions, I always go back to 2.0 because it runs faster.  I recently did a Windows update on my Windows 7 computer and now the 2.0 won't run.  Any suggestions?

  • Download old version of Elements (version 10)

    Hello,
I received Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 as part of a package deal from Adorama. It came with the installation disk and a serial number. However, I do not have a disk drive to install the sofware and I cannot find a place to download version 10 online.
Where can I go to download Elements 10?
    Thanks for your help.

Try http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-10-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l and follow the instructions carefully.

  • Deleting old versions of PhotoShop Elements

Jeez, all kinds of hoops to jump through just to get one stupid question answered.
I just installed PhotoShop Elements 12. Is it safe to delete my old version, PhotoShop Elements 8, from my hard drive?
P.S. Does anyone know why I had to submit my birthday to join the forum? With the latest security breaches on the Adobe site, giving out such personal information is dangerous. I guess Adobe doesn't really care about our security.

No, that's not true, although you might get asked for a serial number from the old version on reinstall. However, if you're using windows, you might want to read through this, about the features missing from PSE 12:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1302663?tstart=0
Many of them can be reinstalled from your older version. (Macs are missing the same features, but since the mac version is now 64 bits, reinstalling old bits doesn't work.)

You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.
Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads
That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met.
