Old Version of QuickTime Link or Incorporate Existing Version?
Greetings, all. I have an old computer with Win ME on it and I started using Firefox not that long ago. It's nice, but it didn't come with all the little doodads preinstalled, like QuickTime. Can someone provide me with a link to an older version of QuickTime that works with ME? I couldn't find it on the site and after looking through five pages of forums (fora?), I didn't find another discussion that was similar. Alternatively, if you can tell me how to incorporate the existing QuickTime (6.5.2) that is already installed for the MSN IE browser into Firefox, that would also be a good solution. Thanks.
p.s. Once when installing QT, it took over my picture-opening process. If there's something I need to do or not do when installing QT to make sure it doesn't do that again, let me know. Thanks.
Greetings, I'm not familiar with Windows ME, or what browsers work with that OS. But it appears QT 5 and 6 will install to ME

ps. when you run the QT installer it usually ask if you want to make it the default media player

When trying to install new version of Quicktime, I get a error message that quicktime cannot uninstall old version. This also affects Itunes to work. Get Message Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I think not having quicktime working affects my Itunes from launching.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Removing an old version of Quicktime
I am trying to install the latest version of Quicktime. However, I get a message towards the end of the installation validation process saing error 2803 followed by a message that says 'unable to uninstall an older version of Quicktime'
I have tried using control pannel/remove programs....but when I click on Quicktime, nothing happens.

let's try the following procedure with that one.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:

Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
now try another QuickTime install. does it go through properly this time? -
Is there any way to delete or have an old version of QuickTime?
After all ... I decided to delete the last version of QuickTime and install my old version ... where iMovie worked perfectly.
Can anyone suggest me a way to complete my mission?

i never throw out an old version of QT player. they break too many useful things with updates. after some change last year i could no longer copy and paste between movies. you can even have 2 versions running at once.
stuff a copy before you update... or copy it to an external drive.
if i knew what you wanted, had a way to get ahold of you, i could upload something and send you a link. not sure what versions i have on hooked up computers, though. or what versions of 7 I saved. -

This happens when I get an email with a link attached. Also, every single time I open up the NEW version, it defaults to the "welcome to Firefox 4" page. Is there a way to make it stop doing that too? Did I just download the new version too soon, before the bugs were worked out?
Version 3.6.16 is opening....as it did when I clicked the link in your email message to me about this situation. The upgraded version (Firefox4) sits in my dock and the old version opens when I click on a link.

Not able to remove old version of QuickTime
I use Windows 7 Professional (64bit) and have been using iTunes with no problems. Got a message today to upgrade to the newest version of iTunes. Downloaded the file (the x64 version). Installer uninstalled old version and started to install new version and hung up when it tried to remove QuickTime. Now neither iTunes nor QuickTime are on my computer.
I followed the instructions on the forum to do a clean uninstall of all Apple products including the verification process. iTunes still will not install... gets to the point of installing QuickTime and says it cannot remove the old version and I need to contact my support personnel.

The FlashPlayer distribution download page still links to old version 14.0.0.176 MSI files
The download links for Flash Player ver 15.0.0.152 still link to the old version 14 MSI files. Please fix. I'm not sure how else to report this issue.
Looks like the files are there, so some simple changing of the copied URLs did the trick for me (change 14 to 15):

I cannot install the latest version of itunes as I have old versions of bonjour and quicktime. I can't remove these programs either. Help please as I have tried almost everything I have found so far on the the web.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour and QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Just upgrade to 33.1.1, terrible! new tab position not configurable, no response for clicking a link, not going to the website by click "enter", "space" keyboard can not be the page down anymore, always die....

Thanks!Just to clarify, let's say you have tab 1 Google results and tab 2 something else. When you Ctrl+click a link in tab 1, it opens between tab 1 and tab 2 instead of at the end? Here's how you switch that:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''tabs''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent''' preference to switch it from true to false.
You can switch back to an earlier tab and test. Success? -
"Unable to uninstall old version of Quicktime" - HELP PLEASE!
I am trying hard to install iTunes 7 on my PC and when running the installer it tries to uninstall the old version of quicktime and it cannot. I uninstalled it manually through the control panel, but it said some parts could not be removed. iTunes 7 still will not install. Is my PC messed up or, though iTunes 7 is released, is it just not at the stage where we want to be installing it? Should I wait for an updated version?
As well, the iTunes installer installed Apple Updater. I ran it, and it said my programs were up to date, which is not true seeing as iTunes 7 is not installed.
Please help!Just goto the control panel and remove/uninstall all listings for iTUnes AND quicktime.

Once installed goto start>all programs>Windows cleanup
Remove each listing of iTUnes one at a time, For example if theres 2 or more listings of iTUnes, highlight ONE and click remove, then highlight the seconnd one and remove it ect ect
Do the same for all listings of quicktime
Now scan the system for malware with Ewido http://www.ewido.com
After that disable your antivirus and security programs then head to apple.com to download and install itunes -
Newer Version of Quicktime that Doesn't Exist?
I'm having issues with Quicktime. I tried downloading iTunes 7. Got that done, rebooted, didn't work. Said I needed quicktime 7.1.3 - so i went to the site to download the new quicktime + iTunes. Did that, it's installed. Quicktime is working, I checked for updates - says there are no updates available. iTunes is STILL telling me it won't run without quicktime 7.1.3 - quicktime is telling me that I already HAVE version 7.1.3.
I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling several times, the same error keeps happening. I would give up if I hadn't already spent so much money on iTunes in the previous versions. Really the only reason I want it is for the easy way to backup my iTunes... that and I no longer have the old version, new version deleted it. headesks Help please?Try to go through this whole article making sure that you remove all the components and reinstall itunes from the web making sure that you download a new installer.....
