Old versions of Apps not removed from iTunes

Hello All,
In iTunes I have 60 Apps on the Apps page.
In my User Folder/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications, I have 77 Applications, some named 1 2 3 etc. after the App Name.
Is it safe to remove the original, and older versions with a number added to the name?
Looking at the date in Finder, the newest App appears to be the one with the highest number added to the name.
Can I remove the original App and then remove the number from the name of the latest version, then remove the other numbered versions of the App?
Why doesn't iTunes remove the old version when updating the App?

Yes, you can safely delete the older versions (the lower numbers). Actually, iTunes now does delete the old versions (that was fixed in iTunes 8.0.1), and new apps are now named with their version number (e.g. AirSharing 1.0.3.ipa). But, that change only applies to apps downloaded/updated after Apple fixed that issue, so you must clean out the old ones manually.

Hi,
I have downloaded app in my computer, since size was more than 500MB.
Now when i try to update or sync my app from itunes to iPod touch 5th generation, it not working.
It shows determining apps to sync and stops immediately.
I have disabled restrictions, resetted my ipod and tried to drag and drop.
Its not working.
Please help me.

Why have my apps not restored from itunes backup?

I just got a new phone from the apple store and had backed up my old phone on itunes on my laptop. I restored the new phone from the back up on itunes and it has restored my contacts and text messages etc but has not restored any of my purchased apps?? Can anyone help?

WHen you click on file on the upper left hand corner and choose device, there will be 4 option, sync, transfer purchase, back up and restore from back up. You can always download again your purchase from the apple id you used to purchase the apps if you forget 1 step

Apps not transferring from iTunes to iPod

I tried to find a thread about this but couldn't so here goes:
I just bought an iPhone and have found a bunch of apps that i downloaded on my computer's iTunes.
But when I sync my iPhone the apps are not transferred onto the phone. I tried downloading some of them directly from the phone and a message telling me that I already downloaded this app shows up, I can then get it again, but the idea was that I would find them on my mac, and then transfer them to the phone.
There is no error message during syncing, the apps just don't show up.

Are you sure that they aren't on another page of your homescreen?

Apps not installing from iTunes

iPad 3 - iOS version 7.1.2
I have a problem with my iPad. I have just recently restored it to factory settings, and the apps did not go on. I decided to go onto my computer and transfer the apps that way. Whenever I click the install button next to the app I want and click apply, it begins to go on it loads for the time needed for it to load and then it goes gray transparent and I cannot open it. Whenever I click it to open it just says 'Installing' and doesn't progress, there is no timer just the transparent grey app which is useless. This happens with every app I have tried. Any help would be appreciated.

Apps not loading from iTunes to iPod Touch

I recently purchased two games. They show up in my iTunes purchases and apps, at one point they claimed to be downloading, but I cannot locate them on my iPod Touch.
I'm leaving for vacation Friday and would like to get this figured out. Any help appreciated.

All my old pusrshased apps have dissapeard from iTunes and AppStore, what can I do?

All my old pusrshased and even the free apps have dissapeard from iTunes and AppStore, theres only ten apps that appear on the list, what can I do?

This suddenly happened overnight and you haven't touched your devices since you last saw the apps, or have you been doing things that might indicate a cause for this?
If you really haven't done anything at all and these are old, old apps and they were withdrawn by the distributors then perhaps they are gone (which is why you need to make your own backup of everything you buy and not rely upon it always being on the Apple site).

I have my personal music (not purchased from Itunes) stored in two locations, on my PC and on an external HD. How can I find out which directory itunes uses to access this music? I am using Itunes version 11.4.0.18. Thanks

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Well, if you didn't keep it in your iTunes library, on your computer, & then back that data up, you're out of luck if it's no longer available in the App store.
Apple warns to backup your purchases for this very reason.

You don't really delete app that way, that way to stop backup for that app in icloud.
You need to delete it from your home screen and then while it still will look like download from icloud - app will start fresh.
However if app uses any account sign in the stuff that is attached to sign in will come back, so if you do not want to you need to use
fresh account as well.

How to keep old versions of apps before updating

I may want to retain the old version of some of my apps. On my Mac whenever I download updates to software, I always keep the installers for the old versions, just in case. However on iOS, when you download an update, it unceremoniously erases your old version, which has caused me to lose data in some cases!
I noticed that in iTunes, "Transfer Purchases" moves the current .IPA files to your Mac. I've also noticed that when you "Transfer Purchases" again, the new versions replace the old versions, which get moved into the Trash (but not fully deleted yet). I've started keeping folders of old versions of apps. You can then manually put those older versions back into the proper folder and resync them to the iPhone if you liked the old version better
I wish the iOS let you roll back to the old version of the app, in case the new version breaks something (like Time Machine for iOS). I think I'm going to write a letter to Apple

That is correct Dancingjewel. Migrating/transferring/copying Adobe applications is not supported and often leads to unexpected behavior. To resolve this you will want to attempt to completely remove the current installations utilizing the CC Cleaner Tool and then reinstall. If you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Other downloads.

1) Removing all music from phone and resynced to iTunes PC library.
2) Erased phone and restored from back up
3) Erased phone and started as a new iPhone
4) Reformated the music files in my library that weren't playing
5) Deleted songs from iPhone and computer and re-imported CDs
6) Tried to redownload my COMPLETE MUSIC LIBRARY from iCloud.
7) I have also turned it off and turned it back on several times
8) I tried syncing through my macbook (only moved partial songs to it to see if it would even work).
9) I have tried to get Siri to play them, did not work.
10) All music does play fine on my iPod Touch 3rd (iOS6 i think) gen and iTunes on Mac and PC
11) I added a CD to my roommates iTunes and it plays on their iPhone 5S but not mine.
After all of these things it is now WORSE!!! My iTunes purchased songs are now experiencing the same issue along with some (not all) of the original music files that were skipping and grayed out. My conclusion is i have no clue at this point! I have done everything i have found online in EVERY discussion, i have spent over 60 hours trying to get this to work and i am asking myself, i bought this product why am having to fix this when it worked just fine on my iPod touch (3rd Gen) and iPod Classic!!!! PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS ISSUE FOR US!!!!

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

Can't drag and drop apps and ringtones from itunes into the iphone.

I'm sure it's something that I have to enable in itunes or the iphone, but I can't seem to drag and drop my apps or ringtones from itunes. This started when I got a replacement phone from my provider. I can't transfer them on my itunes. I get a block icon when I try to drag and drop. So the only way to get all the apps back is by re-downloading on the phone itself, but some apps are huge and I wouldn't want to do that. All the apps I backed up and even new ones I purchased can't seem to transfer. I tried deauthorizing and authorizing, re-downloading apps, syncing. So far nothing. Any tips?

"I have reviewed your email. I understand that you have questions related to rearranging the order of the apps on the printer. I know this can be frustrating, and I want you to know you're certainly valuable to us and I want to do everything possible to ensure your complete satisfaction. The following information should provide the answers you need:
1) Unfortunately when HP launched the new website (www.hpconnected.com) they did not include a method of rearranging the apps on the printer. They may include this feature in a future update, however as this time it is not available.
2) If you have made the upgrade from eprintcenter to HP Connected you do not have the option of returning. Eprintcenter is in the process of being eliminated and unfortunately retuning to the old site is not possible."
I hope <<S-O-O-N>> HP fixes this new website -- it's crazy to take away any controls like this from their customers and not either embellish them or at least leave them be.
I may take this 7610 OJ back for a new Brother 11x17 all-in-one --- they look nice )
