Owner of a Nokia 5310 Music Xpress
Thays should put a Warning on this phone Will break in a month .

It's a lost cause, PC suite has needed SP2 on XP for ages now. At least the last 6 versions required it.
Just update to SP2 or SP3 it's always been a painless problem free update on the many PC's i've done it on. Both are way better than SP1!
There isn't a version for fedora 9 or any other linux distro.

when you were install your cs3 you should have been prompted for you serial number.  were you?
if not, you probably didn't properly install cs3.  copying/migrating/moving etc is problematic.
if yes, did you see any error messages during installation?
if yes, attach a screenshot of the error message.
if not, check you install logs, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC

Hello anyone with Windows 7, not sure why having followed instructions above, install of latest version of itunes won't work and can no longer open old version either.  anyone help with this?

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
Yes, except n°1 - empty Temp directory, I had tried/checked all of those.
I emptied the local temp folder tonight, but it still won't work.
Please note: the installation doesn't give me any problem. The program was working fine, until at one point *plouf* it stopped working. I can re-install it without any problem, it just crashes when opening.
\\edit\\ I seem to have located the problem, it's in the library files. If I re-install iTunes without my library, it works fine (though there is no music in it, yet). As soon as I import my library, or replace the My Music\iTunes folder with the old one, it stops working.

  • Finding old versions of PC Suite

    Hi all,
I recently got a Nokia 6100 phone and was looking for an older PC Suite version. After a thorough search on both this site and three search engines, I'm asking.
I have Windows 98 SE. PC Suite 5.8 says it "cannot install, old OS version" or words to that effect. My computer meets ALL the listed requirements, but Nokia failed to build its software properly.
where I can find an older version? I want a version of PC Suite that WILL install in Windows 98 SE.
Also, has anyone tried using an older version of PC Suite with newer phones (even if yours isnt' a 6100)? Is the software ubiquitous, or is Nokia deliberately making phone and PC software incompatible (ie. conspiring with microshaft), forcing users into software they don't want? I've heard the horror stories about PC ConcreteSuite being unremovable and other problems.
Before anyone responds to this, take note:
    1) "It installs on my computer" is a stupid response. Don't say it. The discussion here is PC Suite's failure to install on *my* machine, not any "success" on yours. After looking around this "forum" for ten minutes, I lost count of how many times I saw it.
    2) "Buy a new operating system" is equally stupid...unless you're sending me the money to buy a new OS and computer, of course. If you are not sending me money, don't say it.
    3) As stated above, my computer DOES meet all of Nokia's listed requirements for PC Suite 5.8. I say it again because I've lost count of people who don't pay attention, even when they're told the same thing twice.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Text Message Editor seems to store some data to folder C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\PC Suite\. There might be few folders here with name like 453756347647. You can try this:
    1. disconnect your phone
    2. delete or move those 57894353478 folders to somewhere else
    3. reboot your computer
    4. Connect your phone again and start Text Message Editor.
    Does it work now?

First, be aware that Numbers is not MS Excel, and Excel is not Numbers. Features available in one of these two applications are not necessarily available in the other.
LINEST in Numbers works somewhat differently from what you describe. The function is well described in the "iWork Formulas and Functions Help" document, available through the Help menu.
I'd start there, with a search for LINEST.

  • Old version of itunes to help with burning issue.

I first downloaded itunes about a year and a half ago(Feb of 2005). I cannot remember what version it was. Everything worked fine and burning music cds was a piece of cake. About 6 months later I downloaded a later version of itunes and my problem with being unable to burn cds began (error 2123). I have tried about everything I can think of to fix it. I have posted on this forum before. There have been some people on it that have tried to help but nothing seems to work. I've tried contacting Apple but that's been a deadend street(if anyone knows how to get a real person on the phone at Apple please let me know). I've contacted the drive's manufacturer and they have tried to be helpful but they, as I, believe it's an issue with the itunes software. I think the only way I'm going to get this problem fixed is one of three things. First, try to find a new drive that's compatable. Secondly, find a way to install an old version of itunes without losing everything on my machine and my ipod. Thirdly, stop using itunes altogether. Has anyone run into this problem and found a solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    TJ

Hey, I had the exact same problem. Is your drive an AOpen drive? If so, I read somewhere that their site admits that two of their DVD Rewriter drives do not work with ITunes 6.
You can install old ITunes versions at oldapps.com. However, I installed version 5 and it's now saying I need an upgraded version to play or burn these songs. Let me know if you figure anything out.

  • Do I need to uninstall old versions of creative suite

i have all my previous versions of creative suite still in my system.  should i uninstall them every time i upgrade?

No need. They can happily co-exist on your hard drive since they all install into their own separate folders.
It's entirely up to you if you want to uninstall them.

  • Which version of PC suite should I use to copy all...

I have an old Nokia 6610 which is on its last legs. There are about 130 text messages stored on the phone itself, in various subfolders within "My folders", one message in the Archive folder, and about 8 messages in the Inbox (the Inbox messages are stored on the SIM card - Vodafone Pay As You Go). I also have 14 pictures stored in a "Pics" folder in the Gallery. All my Phone book entries are stored on the SIM card. The text message memory is virtually full, and I often have to delete existing messages before new ones will arrive.
My computer is a Power Mac G4 running Mac OS X 10.4.11. For those that are interested, it's this model here:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g4/stats/powermac_g4_1.25_dp_mdd.html
On the Mac I have Microsoft Virtual PC 7.0.2 which runs a copy of Windows 2000 (5.0.0.2195 Service Pack 4) under emulation.
I have a fake/third party DKU-2 cable which came with a CD which contains the installer "Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_150_2_eng.exe" and the installer for PC suite 6.6.
Many months ago I ran the "Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_150_2_eng.exe" installer (within the Windows 2000 Virtual Machine) and also installed the latest Windows 2000 compatible version of PC Suite that I could find at the time - 6.86 (the installer file is called Nokia_PC_Suite_rel_6_86_9_3_eng_web.exe).
The software installed successfully, and it seemed to detect the phone via the DKU-2 cable, but I wasn't able to access any of the information on the phone. This isn't really surprising, given that the phone wasn't really directly connected to Windows - it was going via a Mac USB 1.1 port, masquerading as a port on the "PC".
What I am wondering is what software do I need to use so that I can copy all the text messages from the phone (& the 14 pictures too if possible) to my computer, preferably with the sender names & folder structure intact, so that when I buy a new Nokia phone, I can copy them all to it? I've not decided on which new Nokia to buy yet. It might be the N95 8GB, the N96, or perhaps just a basic model. It will be a current model though, not a second hand one.
My first choice would be to use software that was Mac native, but I'm not sure if there is any that would do the job. My second choice would be for software that could run on the Windows 2000 Virtual Machine. If neither of these options are possible, I could borrow my Dad's 6 month old PC laptop, which runs Windows Vista Home Premium, and use that.
If anyone has any experience/thoughts on this, I'd greatly appreciate their (detailed!) input & advice. Although I've very experienced IT-wise, I have zero experience of mobile phone software.
    Many thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Just to follow up from my previous post - I did indeed decide to keep the 6220 classic as my new phone.
Yesterday I installed the Nokia_Conn_Cable_Driver_150_2_eng.exe driver from the CD
that came with my third party/fake DKU-2 cable onto my Dad's Windows Vista Home Premium laptop. Knowing through 15 years bitter experience working with PCs that once a newer version of a piece of software has been installed on a PC, it can often be impossible to subsequently install an older version, even once the newer one has been successfully "removed", I decided to install the 4 versions of PC Suite at my disposal in version order, with the oldest first, and if a version didn't work, to uninstall it, and then install the next oldest one, and so on.
I started with the version that's on the CD that came with my 6610 - version 5 point something. The installation went fine, and after re-starting, I followed the instructions to connect the phone to the computer with the cable. Unfortunately a Vista error message appeared saying there was a problem with the "unrecognised" USB device. PC Suite meanwhile just got stuck in a loop trying to connect to the phone. (The phone was switched on & unlocked!). After trying unplugging & replugging the phone etc, I uninstalled PC Suite, and then tried the same thing with the next oldest version of PC Suite that I have. This is version 6.6. The exact same problem occurred. I then uninstalled that and tried a version I had downloaded many months ago - version 6.86.9.3. The same thing happened, except this time after a while PC Suite gave up trying to connect and displayed a box offering links to places like this website that might help me solve the problem. I then uninstalled that, and then installed the current version of PC Suite - 7.0.8.2. The same thing happened as with 6.86.9.3.
There are, to my mind, 2 possible explanations for all this. Either the data socket on the phone is damaged in some way, which is possible, given that the phone got wet back in February and had to be repaired, and the first repair shop i took it to managed to dislodge the charging socket (which is right next to the data socket) during their botched attempts to fix the phone (another shop fixed this), OR, as I hope is the case, the cable is the wrong one, despite it fitting perfectly.
I've noticed that in several places (the phone's manual, readme files that come with the various versions of PC Suite, etc) that the DKU-5 cable is mentioned far more often than the DKU-2, which suggests that maybe I need a DKU-5. Also, if you go to the PC Suite download page and select the 6610, the cable that's mentioned is the CA-42. Another alternative is that the DKU-2 I have just doesn't work, given that it's not a proper Nokia cable.
Does anyone have any idea which cable I actually need to use to get the PC to talk to the 6610?
Also, in case you were wondering, the reason I tried 4 different versions of PC Suite rather than just the current version is that I've read on these forums that certain newer versions of PC Suite don't have certain features that certain older versions do, depending on the phone in question. This has caused much frustration for people, judging by the comments I've read. Given that what I want to do is to copy all the text messages from the phone (& the 14 pictures too if possible) to my computer, preferably with the sender names & folder structure intact, it may be a case that an older version of PC Suite will allow me to do that, but a newer version might not. This is especially true given how old the 6610 is. Of course it may be the case that an old version of PC Suite that allows me to copy the texts & pictures to the PC won't work with my new 6220 classic. If that's the case, I hope that I can install the current version of PC Suite over the top of the old version, and then copy everything onto the new phone.
If anyone has any firm ideas about what cable (& version of PC Suite) I should be using, I'd be most grateful.
    Thanks for your attention.

  • Do I need to keep old versions of CS on my PC in order to have the most recent work properly?

I recently started a new position and plesently found my work station already set up with Creative Suite 5.5, but then saw CS 4 and CS 3 as well. When I asked IT why they were all there, the response was that upgrades build off of one another. If we were to uninstall 4 and 3, 5.5 wouldn't work.
Now, this isn't my first time around the block... I've never done this in the past in any other position. In fact, I remember how much work it was to install the new software and then uninstall the old, frequently running into problems along the way.
Is my new IT department right? Or can I uninstall the older versions in the hopes that my computer works faster/better?
    Thanks!

    Hi HeatherSenger,
It is not necessary to have old version of Creative suite already installed in your machine. You can uninstall the old version form your computer and there will not be any problem.
When you buy an upgrade of any creative suite let say for example if you buy an upgrade for CS6 from CS5.
You start the installation of CS6 and it will ask for the serial number --- the moment you enter the serial number for the CS6 upgrade it will ask for the serial number for the previous qualifying version which could be CS5 or any eligible old version
After entering both the keys it will continue the installation.
So you just need to have the serial numbers of the both versions at the time of installation.
    Thanks
    Kapil

  • Empty contacts with the new version of pc suite

    Hi,
I have a nokia 6111 connected to my pc with a usb cable.
When I go to my contacts with the nokia phone browser, the list is empty.
It works well with my old version of pc suite 6.82 but since I'm upgraded it to the 6.83.14.1, the list is empty.
    I'm under vista.
    Thanks

    The data location change from "\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\PC Suite\phone imei" to "\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Nokia\ContactsEditor" for the 6.83.
I try to delete the directory "Nokia", it doesn't work.

loaded movie clips thinking the new iMovie with updates would be better than the pervious version....WRONG!!!  New version is much more difficult to use.  How do I revert to the old version??? HELP!! My job depends on getting this video together my MONDAY!! YIKES!

The install of iMovie 10 doesn't remove the previous iMovie version 9 or any of its files.
Look for it in your HD/Applications folder.

  • Can Creative Cloud members pass on or sell old versions of CS?

As I am now a Creative Cloud subscriber, can I pass on or sell old versions of Ceative Suite (CS4) on CD?

Yes, if you're a Cloud member, you can definitely pass on or sell your Creative Suite perpetual license software.
Follow the license transfer procedure to complete the sale
    Transfer an Adobe product license
Just bear in mind that if you ever cancel your Cloud membership, or allow it to expire, then you'll be left with no software to use. There will be no fall back available to you. If you're OK with that then go for it.

  • Uninstall old version of Sophos 4.54

Hello, First post here & would welcome any advice. I have a user who has recently updated their Mac from an old version of OS X (Maybe 10.5) to 10.10. They had a very old version of Sophos for Mac installed- version 4.54.I cannot find the unintsller in either the Applications forlder or the Main Library under the harddrive.
The removal tools only seem to be for versions 8 & 9. Anyone know how to remove this safely & completely? ThanksKJ

Resolved it myself. Remembered that the application might have installed something in- Hard Drive> Library> Application Support      (~\Library\Application Support) Sure enough, there was a Sophos folder & in there was a removal tool in a .PKGRan this & it cleared out the old version. Possibly some help to other. KJ
