Old Wireless Network Found

First of all, I am a newbie in regard to wireless networks, so please be patient with me!!!
Here's my problem:
About a year ago, I set up a wireless network on my computer.  It worked great.  My son was able to access the Internet with his laptop just fine anywhere in our home.
Recently my son disconnected the wireless router and used it at a party with his friends.  (They connected a couple of XBox gaming systems together to play XBox Live).
After the party, my son reconnected the router to the computer, but he was not able to get his laptop to connect to the Internet.  In our troubleshooting, we ended up recreating a wireless network on my PC.  My son's laptop finds the wireless signal from my PC, but it finds an old network name -- not the new network name that we recently created.
We are at a loss on what to do next.  Can anyway give us some direction?
Thank you very much!

I think that with some routers you can have multiple networks running at the same time. If you reset the router it will restore to factory defaults and delete all metworks running. From there if you just recreate a network again it will only have the 1 network on it.

  • Connecting to old wireless network drive

I've just bought a macbook pro. With my old pc laptop, I connected to the internet via a belkin wireless g mimo router/modem. Connected to this router via a ethernet cable was a lacie 250gb drive which I could access via a wireless network connection. Now my macbook sees the modem.router and I can connect to the internet, but I cannot see the external drive. All my network setu assistant seems to do is give me options on what wireless modem to use for a internet connection. The lacie drive is pc nfts formatted. Any easy step by step advice?!

    Actually it's all PC roadblocks.

  • WVC54GCA camera, no wireless network found

I just purchased a WVC54GCA camera and I am having problems getting it set up.  I have the power plugged in, and the network cable plugged directly into my router, (the solid blue light is on), but when I get to step 2 in the Setup Wizard, no wireless network is found. I know I have a wireless network running, because I have another PC connected, and that PC is also able to find my neighbors wireless network.
The routher is a SMCWBR14-G2 EU Barricade™ g Wireless Broadband Router set up in 11b/g mixed mode.
Has anyone solved this problem? Right now I only see one solution - to return it to the shop where I bought it, but I would like to have the camera working in the wireless mode.

I've just been working on the same problem for the past 4 hours...
I tried so many things, but finally found something that seemed to work.
Forget about the Linksys set up software. You'll have to work with your web browser to access your modem/network settings and your camera settings. Just manually enter the information into the linksys BASIC SETUP section (SSID, etc). I chose a fixed IP address and set that up with my modem settings too.
If you can set your camera up manually, ie. through the default http://192.168.1.115 or whatever yours is set at, then pull up your modem/router settings page (mine is a 2wire - http://192.168...etc)
Find the "device details" for your camera. Copy the hardware address. Something like
    00:21:29:7f:6c:c2
Under the wireless settings for your home network, try to find something that says "MAC filtering" or something similar. ENABLE this, if it is not already and see if you can ADD the camera's hardware address to the list of allowed devices.
After doing this, and powering off and on my camera - Hey Presto! It was working. Don't even know why I tried this - I guess I'd tried everything else and it looked like a good idea...
Hope it works for you too. I'd love to think that all these hours of my trying to find a solution pays off for someone else!

  • No Wireless networks found (WIFI adapter not visible)

From 2-3 days , my laptop's wifi adapter was disabled automatically.
The wireless network doesn't showing WIFI option.
Therefore I am not able to connect to any WIFI network.
    Please help

    Hi @21_95,
    Thank you for your inquiry.
I grasp that your wireless was automatically disabled and you are unable to enable it.
If you check Device Manager is there any errors on it?
You can check this setting also while you are in Device Manager.
Click on the network adapters to expand the list.
Right click on the wireless adapter and choose properties.
Click on the power management tab.
If allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is checked please remove it .
Repeat that process for any additional network adapters.
Here is  link to HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) that may also help.
As this is a recent occurrence you could test for a hardware failure of the card.
HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8)
You could also try a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) which will reinstall your Windows but should not affect your files.  I do suggest that you do a backup of your files just to be on the safe side.
    Good Luck!

  • No wireless networks found

Last night while browsing ITunes on my Touch the network was disconnected. I checked to see if the router was down, it wasn't. Tried connecting other wireless devices to the network and they got on. I even connected to my network with my wife's Touch. This touch is brand new (as of yesterday) and now I'm not able to find any wireless networks whatsoever. Like I said, I was able to browse the internet and all yesterday until the abrupt disconnect. I tried shutting down and restarting (both the router and my touch). I've done the soft reboot of the Touch. I'm at a loss as to why my Touch won't find any wireless networks...any ideas?

Same problem with my Intel iMac. When I boot up from an off state ('reboot' doesn't work) I get a perfect connection for a time, about 15 minutes. If I don't use wifi at all during that time, then I lose all 'bars' (in the Airport menu item), and cannot see any networks, my own or otherwise (there are 4-5 in my neighborhood). Turning Airport off and on from the menu item does nothing, nor does a reboot.
The kicker is that if I use the network aggressively from the start (streaming video, big downloads, network games) it can stay on for hours. But when it gets 'bored' it just quits out on me. I'm about two days away from bringing it in for service.

  • Blinking amber, "no wireless networks found", rescanning, but internet work

OK - so, everything was fine at home with my airport extreme, hardwired to the modem and my Mac Pro. Wireless worked fine on laptop & iPhone. Today I bought an Airport Express so I can stream music to my stereo. Ran Airport Utility and POOF - blinking amber lights everywhere, utility asking me to rescan over and over because it says I now no longer have any wireless networks - even though the internet works fine. Blinking yellow on base station, blinking yellow on express, yet utility just tells me to rescan, and everything else is grayed out. Banging my head against a wall. Anyone have an idea?

You configure the Express via AirPort Utility. If you cannot see the Express when you open the AU app, click on the AirPort icon (of your Mac) on the upper menu. See if the Express network shows up there. If so, log into that network and open AU again to configure it. If that does not work, get an ethernet cable and connect the Express to your computer. If the Express still does not show up on AU, do a hard reset and try again. Once in AU, you can configure it to try and join or extend your network.

  • WRT54G router set up, Wireless network found, but cant connect.

I've had this router working for over a year but for whatever reason, it stopped working about a week ago. Powering off the router and cable modem usually works but not this time, so I attached a cable from a laptop to the router and tried to run the setupWRT54G setup CD. After step 7, it kept repeating itself in a loop... trying to reconfigure the router and asking for the password. Finally, I exited and the window message box said "Setup is not complete, continue exiting?"  So I accessed the router setup thru IE via the cable:  Http:\\192.168.1.1 and set up the network and gave it a new name, channel 7, etc. My wife can access the network from her work laptop via wireless, so its working for her. As for the other laptop and other desktop in our home, when we search for available networks, we can see out network and click "Connect", ... supply the router password that I issued in the router setup, but it says that it cant connect after a minute of trying. What have I done wrong? One laptop can access the network and two cant. Before last week, all 3 could access the wireless network. FYI - I downloaded and installed ther latest fimware from the LINKSYS website (V8.XX), but no difference. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

    Maccer wrote:

Keep in mind that the router setup password is not the same thing as the encryption key that you use to connect wirelessly to the router.
If it works normally from your wife's computer, I'd be looking at the settings on your computer first, rather than the router's.
In network -> TCP/IP -> properties is it set to get an IP address automaticaly?
If the above aren't the issue, I would do a hardware reset of the router back to factory defaults and enter your settings again from scratch. That's a recommended step after upgrading or reloading the firmware anyway, even if you weren't having this trouble

  • Wifi sync searching for old wireless network

I believe a wireless sync on my iPod Touch was started on a hotel's network sometime last year and it must have gotten interupted and is now apparently only willing to resume the wireless sync (or commence a new wireless sync) if and when it finds that hotel's wireless network again.  I have tried disabling wireless sync, restarting itunes and device and re-enabling wireless sync but no luck.  Anyone have this issue and figure out a solution?  One thing I have thought of is renaming my wireless network but ... I would prefer not to because that will just confuse all my other devices.

I finally realized that I incorrectly identified the issue.  It apparenlty was looking for the computer and unable to find it....  I had to turn Internet sharing on to make it work.  So, if I am tethered to my macbook, it works fine but if I am just on the same wifi network, it's a no go.

  • How can I remove old wireless networks as a choice on my iphone?

I just picked up a new time capsule and i'm using my old time capsule to backup just one mac, just not wirelessly.  I need the rest of the Macs and Iphones in the house to no longer default to the old time capsule.  How can I delete networks I no longer use?

  • Extend my old wireless network with help of Airport Express

    Hello,
I have a one year old Siemens SL2_141 router which I was using to create a WiFi Network and simultaneously use the Ethernet port to connect to my PC.
Now recently I purchased a new Airport Express, and I am not able to extend my old Siemens WiFi Network with the help of this, it shows me "This network can't be extended". Can anyone help me if I am missing something here.
Do I need to change and other settings on my old router.
I have uploaded few snapshot of settings of my old router here: http://cl.ly/2v8I

But many people here pointed out that, they can extend there Linksys router's WiFi network with Airport Express
Sorry, but the only known compatible Linksys routers are the models WRT54G and WRT54GS. All of the other Linksys models are not compatible.
You have a Siemens router. It is not on the list of known compatible devices, so as Tesserax points out, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to configure it to work with the AirPort Express.
Lists of the the known compatible devices are on the Internet and have been posted many times on this forum. The list is as follows:
3com OfficeConnect ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router model 3crwdr100a-72 but ONLY with NO encryption
    Belkin F5D7230-4 and F5D7231
    BT Voyager 2091 or 2100
    Buffalo WGR-G54
Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not latest versions v5)
    Netgear WGR614 v6
Thompson 585v6 wireless router (40 bit WEP works but stronger encryption does not)

  • No wireless network found

I cannot find the network of my router, he couldn't find any connections to that network. Other people tried it (with acer=windows)and for them it worked perfect, so they can connect to that network. What should I do, cause I really need that wireless internet for my studies?
    Thx

are you wireless? check if your airport card works.. can it see the wireless router at all?
under network setings, make sure it is set up at the default configuration so that your computer automatically searches for networks, connects via DHCP and that both airport and ethernet is tickered to be on.

  • Adding Airport Express to an existing Windows WEP enabled wireless network

I have can't find anything to help me add my new Airport Express to my existing WEP network. All I want is to use to play my Itunes through the sitting room stereo. I've upgraded the firmware on my Netgear 802.11b wireless access point so I can have a 13 digit WEP password. I've installed the latest install software from the apple website for the express box.
I can access the express box fine on its own but not add it to the existing network. Now the only thing that works is the apple connection! My old wireless network has stopped working. I tried the same at my office yesterday and the only way to resolve the situation was to uninstall all the Apple software and then my Wireless network was able to work again. I'm pulling my hair out here and getting in to trouble with the rest of the family because it is taking so much time up!
Someone mentioned somewhere some new firmware - I can only find one for MAcs not PCs - I don't have any Macs on my network.
    Please help.
    THANKS

Make sure you have installed at least Airport 4.1 on your PC:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airport41forwindows.html
Most Netgear wireless routes will tell you the hex equivalent of the plain text WEP password you enter into it - and this is found using the same web browser based process you use to configure the router. This information cannot be found by any other means (like "pinging" the router's IP address). If you can get the WEP key in this manner, configure the Airport Express with the same WEP key *while it is still cabled to the router*.
The alternative is to come up with a 26-digit hex format WEP key of your own choosing. You can then wirelessly access the Airport Express and enter that WEP key on it first, followed by doing the same on the router second.

  • Can't connect to Wireless Network. Officejet 6500a

I just bought an Officejet 6500A and can't seem to have it connect to my wireless network via Ethernet. All the cables are connected, however when I try to install using the network connection I keep gettting an error saying no networks are found.
I have tried the HP Network Diagnostic Utility and even there after it scans it says no wireless networks found. What is the deal? The printout from the printer says it is ready and wired.

    Hi Romex,
The HP Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One (CN557A#B1H) is the only model that offers wireless capability.
The HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One (CN555AB1H) only offers wired Ethernet capability.
You can always exchange the product since you didn't know it was Ethernet only.

  • HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw does not connect to wireless network

I recently upgraded my wireless network router. I had my HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw connected to the old wireless network router. The SSID is password protected (WPA2)
I need to connect the printer to the new wireless network router. However, neither the control panel nor blue wireless connection button provide any way for me to do this. The manual has not walked through a way to do this.
There really needs to be a simple, no-nonsense way to just connect the printer to the wireless network. How do I connect this printer to a new wireless network?

    Hi @shakayumi ,
I see that you are having issues configuring the printer on the new router. I would like to help.
    Restore the printer's network defaults.
    Touch the Setup button. (wrench)
    Select Network Setup Menu.
    Then select Restore Defaults.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is 0.0.0.0 and the SSID is cleared.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
Here are the directions for setting up the printer through the Wireless Direct to configure the printer over the network as Infrastructure.
Turn the Wireless Direct on the printer.
On the printer touch the setup button, (wrench) then select network setup menu, select wireless menu, select wireless direct and turn it on.
On the computer, in the bottom right corner click on the wireless icon and select the printer from the list to connect to. Then open Internet Explorer and type in the IP address (192.168.223.1) for the printer in the address bar.
This will load the embedded web server for the printer.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption. Apply settings.
Click on the wireless icon and connect back to your network name.
Print out a configuration report to make sure the IP address is valid. (192... or 10....)
Now create a new port, this will save you the time, instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
Go to Start, Devices and Printers, right click the printer, go to Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
If you are still having issues, then try this method:
If you have a Ethernet cable, connect it from the printer to the router.
Wait about a minute, print the configuration page to see if you get a IP address.
Then type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar to bring up the printer's web page.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption. Apply settings.
    Then disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Then wait a minute to see if you get a wireless light on the printer, print the configuration page and check the IP address again. Then type the IP address into Internet Explorer's address bar to bring up the printer's web page.
If the printer is back on the network, create a new port. Steps are listed above.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Try and print now.
