Older AC adapter w/ Classic ???

just picked up a new 80gig Classic . . . is it OK to use the USB AC converter from the older forth generation iPod ??? . . . (that's the last model with a mono screen) . . .

Yup. I'm using an old firewire adapter from my 3rd gen iPod with my Touch and 3rd gen Nano. Works just fine.

yes.
"For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. • Older 5th Gen IPOD Classic Games not syncing - HELP

I previously had a IPod Classic 30GB and purchased 2 games (Ms PacMan & Mahjong) these worked well on that IPod. I now have a new IPOD Classic 120GB and I have purchased 2 more games (UNO and Scrabble).
All games display in Itunes game although they are displayed on two different lines, but only the two new games (UNO and Scrabble) appear in the Games Sync area.
How do I get the original two games (Ms PacMan & Mahjong) to sync to these new IPod Classic?

Are those older games still available in the iTunes Store +iPod Click-Wheel Games+ section? If they are currently being sold, that current version is certain to be compatible with all game-playing click-wheel iPods.
If so, you may want to try sending an email to the iTunes Store support team. If you go here
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/
and follow one of the links under +Customer Service+, such as +Transfer Purchases+, and you will see a link that says +Contact Us+. Follow that link to a form you can fill out to send the email message. Explain the situation and ask if there is a way to get the newest version of those games you already paid for previously, when you had a 5th gen iPod.

• Older Power Adapter

I just recently replaced my venerable 4th Generation iPod 40GB model with a new iPod Classic 80GB model. Will my apple firewire power adapter from my old iPod work with the new one? How about my Belkin car kit's power adapter? The last thing I want to do is screw up my battery on a new 'pod.

Will my apple firewire power adapter from my old iPod work with the new one?
Yes, most definately.
Don't know about the Belkin, though I don't see why it wouldn't.

• Bought dock adapter for classic 160GB and it doesn't fit

Came in 3 pack, but all three are completely identical and all of them are too big. Product number ma126g/a. What do I do?

The Dock Adaptors dfo usually ship as a three-pack, so that's why you have three identical adaptors. The MA126G/A will fit the early iPod Classic 160GB. So if your iPod Classic is a "late 2009" model (160Gb), the adaptor you would require is the MA125G/A.
However, I think you may be advised to check the model of iPod you have first. You can do that here; http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353.
Your iPod should come with one Dock Adaptor in the box, do you still have it? If you do find it, it may help you to know that on the underside of the adaptor is a number,
and the number on the MA126G/A is 10. So if you find the adaptor that shipped with your iPod, and it says number 9, then you have a "late 2009" iPod Classic 160GB. (I'm not sure why the picture suggests that the number is between 15-20. I have several adaptors with number outside that range!)

• Charging new i-Touch with older AC adapter

I recently purchased a new Touch and wondered if I could use the AC-usb adapter that came with my 2nd gen (old school) iPod to allow my plugging the Touch into the wall instead of always into the computer. Since both iPods use usb cables, will there be any problems with using the same wall adapter and changing cables accordingly?

The Apple charger should work, however there are known 3rd party examples that do not. For example, I had a Sonnet AC-to-USB charger that worked on my iPod 5Gen Video, but failed on my IPT 1stGen, which Sonnet admitted to, and subsequently re-engineered their product.
I now use a newer Apple charger and the same cable for both iPods.

• Monitoring of older RFC Adapter messages - RFC API

Hi,
I have successfully implemented a number of scenarios (File to rfc & File to Idoc)that required external data lookup - using the RFC API (calling a customer RFC FM) (and parsing the response with DOM).
I am also using Global variables to store my lookup responses to help minimize the number of RFC calls invoked.
When trouble shooting - as expected the log in the communication channel for the RFC adapter shows the BAPI response. However the number of records is always restricted to 25.
If I process a message with 30 records, and lets say the first RFC Lookup fails but the remaining 29 are successfully - because the log is limited to 25 I lose a record of this error.
Am I missing another method of search?
Is this just a display restriction and perhaps I could report over the underlying tables myself?
Regards
Andrew

Communication channel monitoring is as i understood primarily für monitoring the module chain a message is eventually running through. Did you try monitoring via RWB->Message Monitoring or sxmb_moni? There also should be a reference to the response. Maybe I didn´t get you right, but as far as I remember RFC Calls are also listed there with a bigger history.

• Charging MacBook Air with older power adapter.

I have just bought MacBook Air. I still own the MacBook Pro 15' dated 2006. Can I use MacBook Pro's power adapter to charge safely MacBook Air?

Power adapters for Intel-based Apple portables are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple portable, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.
For instance If you have a MacBook (13-inch Late 2009) that normally uses a 60W adapter, you can also use an 85W adapter with that computer. You would not use a 45W adapter with that computer; it would not provide enough power for that MacBook. Using an adapter of higher wattage than the adapter that came with the computer will not cause the computer to charge more quickly or otherwise operate any differently than using the adapter that came with the computer.

• Charging with older FW-adapter

I understand my wife's old power adapter (firewire) may not work with her new iPod nano - but will it do any damage if I try anyway?
Cheers t

I have the old FW adapter and a new Nano. I plugged it in, no damage, just says "This accessory is not supported" like you get on newer iPods and iPhones.

• "Compilations" option present on iPod Classic but not on 5th Gen. iPod

I have two iPods, a Classic (newer) and a 5th Generation (older).
On the Classic, there is a nice Compilations menu item (Music > Compilations) so that albums with multiple artists do not clutter up the Music > Artists menu. I'm able to edit tracks in iTunes to mark certain tracks as part of compilations.
However, my iPod 5th Generation does not have the Music > Compilations menu item. As a result, my Music > Artists menu is very cluttered, with a many artists only corresponding to a single track. Is there any way I can get the Compilations menu choice on the 5th Generation iPod? Is there a firmware update that will help?
By the way, in my early days of using iPod (I had an even older device than the 5th Gen.) iTunes would occasionally ask if I wanted to update my firmware. It never does that any more. Does Apple no longer update the firmware in iPods?

On the 6th gen. series enabling either *Settings > Main Menu > Compilations* or *Settings > Music Menu > Compilations* causes artists who only appear on compilation albums to be hidden from the Artists menu. On my 5th gen. model there is a menu option at *Settings > Compilations* which has the same effect.
For avoiding the clutter caused by guest/featured artists see http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp

• Can't find printers on Airport Extreme network when in Classic

I run a lab with 24 computers - 10 new imac flat screens and 14 older imacs using Mac OS 10.3.5. Still have some software I need to use on the older ones which require Classic (PhotoShop 6.0). Problem is that when I'm in Classic I can find the one hplaser printer that is connected to Airport base station through the ethernet port. (I have two Airport Extreme base stations on the same network) I have two color printers (a hp cp1700 and a Canon i950 that are connected to the base stations through the USB port in each one and picked up on the network through Rendezvous. Everything works great when in Mac OS 10 but the two usb printers are not to found in chooser in Classic. Have to muddle through until I can upgrade these 14 machines (it's for a junior high class). Any ideas???

I believe it is because Classic does not interface with Bonjour which is used to run the wireless printing connections.
Simply an observation. Someone please correct me if Im wrong.

• HAL 9.3.1 Essbaes Adapter Error

We recently migrated from Planning 3.5.1 to 9.3.1 and are still using HAL. In several of our Integrations we were able to pull in the new adapters (Planning 9.2 and Essbase 9.2 - we had to use this older Essbase adapter because the newest version wasn't working). And most of my integrations run fine.
However, I have one integration for HAL that is failing on a Dimension extraction step with the message:
Flow ID: 'getMetaActProd'
Adapter ID: 'Essbase2--GrProfit'
Error Message: com.hyperion.essbaseadapter.application.ap.APException: Exception #1: error code - 1033: Essbase Error: native code - 1060000
Most the time we don't get this detail but a 'C++ exception' message and the integration stops (usually when we run this from it's executable). Sometimes running the integration from the executable gives us the other message above - wierd.
Anyway, I go into the integration and run this and this steps is pulling about 4,000 part numbers into an Access database -we're comparing part #'s from our outline to parts that come in through a data source. The integration gets to about 3,000 or so and then looks like it freezes up and we get the above message.
I have basically the same integration running on a smaller applicaiton/database and it gets through this step OK. So, I'm at a bit of a loss here as to what I can check. I suspect the adapter was fine because I have integrations the get into Essbase and load and calc' data and all that fine. But this step on our larger database is bombing.
Anyone have any ideas?

try the method suggested by user609180 in this post: Re: HAL error 1033 when connecting to essbase/ Analytics />

I've got a solution which Ive tested and works! You need the 9.2.0
runtime in order for the VBIS Essbase 9.2.0 Adapter to work. This comes
from installing the 9.2.0 Essbase Client
This is what I did I on my client machine:
1. Uninstall EAS 9.3.1 Console (Not the server), Essbase Client 9.3.1, VBIS
2. Reinstall in this sequence:
2.1 Essbase Client 9.2.0, including runtime, and spreadsheet add-in
2.2 VBIS 7.3
2.3 HAL Essbase Adapter 9.2.0
2.4 EAS 9.3.1 Console
Also
ensure these Window Environment Variables are set(This is based on my
computer settings so could differ from yours) Right mouse click My
Computer > Properties > Advanced Tab > Environment Variables:
/*USER VARIABLES*/
/*CLASS PATH*/
C:\Program Files\Vignette\V7\vbis\Hyperion\EssbaseAdapter
/*PATH*/
C:\Program Files\Vignette\V7\vbis\Hyperion\EssbaseAdapter\adm
/*ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES*/
/*CLASS PATH*/
C:\Program Files\Vignette\V7\vbis\Hyperion\EssbaseAdapter\adm
/*PATH*/
C:\Program Files\Vignette\V7\vbis\Hyperion\EssbaseAdapter\adm;C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\bin\client\
You might have extra variable paths defined under the PATH variables.
Ive
managed to add the adapter in a VBIS project without any errors, it
connects to Essbase though yet to test if it will perform a send
properly. The spreadsheet addin works with 9.2.0 and the EAS Console
works with 9.3.1 connecting to the Essbase Server 9.3.1.
Hope this helps!

• Bad AC Adapter for Inspiron 17r Special Edition

My ac adapter has failed all of a sudden. I use this laptop as a desktop replacement and keep it plugged in most of the time on my desk. I went in tonight and the laptop was off. I hadn't shut it down recently so turned it back on, and it shut down right away. I realized it wasn't getting power. Checked my ac adapter and the blue ring that normally lights on the male end of the plug wasn't lit. I tried the adapter in a few different outlets. No change. I wiggled the connections around. No change.
This is a 130w adapter, model DA130PE1-00, dell p/n wrhkw
I took an older dell adapter i had, 90w, and plugged it in and it worked fine. That tells me it's not the laptop or the wall outlet, but indeed a bad adapter.
This should be covered under my extended warranty plan. I sent an email regarding this but wasn't sure if it would be better to post here or not. Does dell tech support monitor these forums?
Thanks.

• Distorted sound in Classic environment

I followed a thread about setting the speed to 41000Hz in order to resolve a problem I have with the "Chipmunk" sound while running older software in the Classic environment. The speed is set to 41000 Hz in the MIDI setup utility, but the problem still exists. This is kid's learning software and I have contacted the companies like Edmark and The Learning Company with no response from them. Any other suggestions to get these to run in Classic? Thank you!!

Hi, Imuzik. It may or may not be possible or practical to get your older software working properly in Classic. Many old games and kids' educational programs expect to be able to change hardware settings on the computer when they are opened — typically display resolution and color depth, sometimes audio settings and other hardware preferences. But in Classic mode, OS X doesn't allow them to make those adjustments, in much the same way (and for some of the same reasons) that you probably don't give your young children access to your household wiring and plumbing.
It may be possible to overcome this limitation by manually changing the necessary settings to whatever the program requires before you open the program. This is probably the basis for the suggestion you followed in the other thread. But it can be hard to figure out what settings are required, and getting all but one of them right may leave you no better off than if none of them were. If you do figure them all out, then there's the problem of having to change them manually every time your child sits down at the computer, and change them back to your normal settings afterward: that may just not be a practical thing for you to try to do.

As you can see after changing to HTTP AAE I am not receiving a clear parser error back. Instead a generic internal server error is being thrown.
This is a disadvantage for the Sender who does not know which part of his message was in error.
Maybe somebody can give me a hint how to get back the parser message on the HTTP AAE adapter instead of the generic message.

Thank you for your responses!
Yes I am sure that the application is working in the same way on both configurations. Only the response message differs (detailed validation error message vs. generic HTTP 500 message).
In both cases I have activated the "Validation by Adapter" option in ICO and Sender agreement and the validation of the request message is failing (I am sending an invalid enum value). If I send a correct request message, it is being processed fine on both configurations.
In fact if we check the PI logs in NWA, we can also find the detailed validation error for the HTTP_AAE adapter, it is just not sent out with the response message.
It is contained in the following log location:
Category:
/Applications/ExchangeInfrastructure
Location:
com.sap.aii.utilxi.xmlvalidation.impl.XMLSyntaxValidatorImpl
