Older itune version 10.6 trying to reinstall, library problem?

I reinstalled older itune version 10.6 on Win7 after I reformatted the drive.
1. Now i have a  library problem? the itunes will not open and i get a message "itunes library.itl" is from newer pgm. how can i work around it?
2. i want to restore my itunes music library like it was before with the old libray i had from my backup, how can i do that?

your serial number is for an upgrade version.  you need to prove you have a qualifying upgrade product.
after you enter your upgrade serial number and the installer failing to find a previous version, you should be given the option to choose the previous version and enter its (the older version's) serial number.
if that's not working, what version are you trying to install and why didn't the above work?

I was recently prompted to update my Itunes player to the latest version. I'm using Windows Vista. I was left with an error message MSVCR80.dll and consequently no new update. I uninstalled the old version and have tried to reinstall manually several times. No luck. Consequently I have no player.
    Any ideas for a fix?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Install older iTunes version?

i want to install an older iTunes version. how can i do this?
i've recently installed the latest iTunes update on my computer (which has been out of service for 5 months) and now iTunes skips and stutters constantly whether i'm playing songs through iTunes or my iPod. i've tried all the "fixes" i can find on the web, quicktime settings, system audio preferences, itunes settings, etc. and i am fed up. i've spent the past 2 weeks trying to get this latest version of iTunes to work, and i just want my older version back.
    please help!

thanks so much! i'm back to version 7 and all my stuttering and skipping problems are gone!!!
my ipod syncs just fine, and i can access the itunes store with no problems!
i'm not sure what happened with the updates over the past 5 months, but whatever it was certainly effects the functionality of itunes on older (2 year old system!!) computer set ups.

  • Hi, in my older Itunes version next to my library I had Itunes "Genius" suggesting songs. I don't have it anymore

Hi, in my older Itunes version next to my library I had Itunes "Genius" suggesting songs. I don't have it anymore. Hpw do I reset it?

Go to iTunes prefs, general, Genius checkbox. It should be checked if you want it. Is it? If so, go to the Sidebar and look for Genius (should appear near SHARED or ITUNES DJ). Click it. Does it have a button for "turn on Genius"? If so, click that.

Since updating to iTunes 11.0.03 my ION Turntable fails to upload music on PC. Process Works up to point that it tries to upload .  Turntable still works on laptop with older iTunes version

Your question involves too much detailed reading for me, but here's the way to create a custom ringtone for your iPhone on your Mac:
    Use GarageBand.
Check Help > Create Ringtone there.

  • Downgrade to older itunes version that came w/ipod

i recently downloaded the new ipod update(why did i do that?) and the new itunes upgrade. after all the mess that the ipod update did, i decided to try to restore the ipod and go back to the older stuff that worked. when i installed the old ipod update everything seemed to be working fine, but then when i connect the ipod to itunes it says that it cant read or write to the ipod. it told me to go and restore the ipod with the ipod updater i went there and it gave me an internal manager error. i then looked around on the site and it told me that that happens when theres a "disagreement" between the versions of the update and the itunes version. it says to uninstall itunes and then install it again w/ a newer version. now, what do i do? do i uninstall itunes and then install it again with the newer version or do i uninstall itunes and then go back to the original version that came with the ipod? if i do that, where do i get the older version?
    any help will be appreciated
    thanks

I had trouble with the new version, also, so I downloaded the Quicktime standalone version, that many people here have mentioned. Then, I went to the "downloads" here on the apple site-- it should be up above on that purple strip of buttons under the support tab. And, I found the iTunes version 6.1, and downloaded that. I am using it, and it seems to be fine. The iTunes 6.1 was back a few pages in the downloads.

  • ITunes 7 hangs while trying to update Library

I installed 1Tunes 7 onto my Jukebox Mac - contains 16,450+ tracks, 90Gb. iiTunes hangs when trying to update the library. I keep all my actual music files on an external LaCie D2 160Gb drive. Even if I move the drive to a different Mac, and attempt to update the Library there, it also hangs.
    Has anybody got a suggestion?

Sorry to not be of any direct help, but I'm having the same problem and my situation is almost identical. iTunes 7 in general has been buggy for me and I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I have 100GB of music which is located on an external drive (not an uncommon set-up). I've tried the reinstall from the download of 7.02 as well as software update and have tried repairing permissions vs. not. I've also trashed the itunes plist files in my usr library.
And now I'm just reflecting on how practiaclly everytime I update something from apple I have to spend days trying to figure out how to fix it. I would consider myself a pro user as well which makes me wonder what the millions of novice mac users do to keep their systems running... oh yea, I almost forgot, for $350 for 2 years beyond the year you get for free (175/yr) apple's novice apple 'care' customer service staff will attempt to help you fix their faulty, seemingly untested (in a real world working situation) upgrades (or they'll just deny the fact that the problem exists and make any attempt to blame it on the fact that you probably just forgot to plug your machine in). Makes me wonder if the faulty upgrades and applecare have anything directly in common. Is Steve Jobs republican?
Sorry, years of dealing with apple products, just had to vent...

  • Reinstalling an older itunes version 6 from 7 query

Well the title says it all really, given all the trouble I have had in getting itunes to recognise my ipod when I connect it to the computer, I would like to go back to version 6 until such time as Apple have all these problems sorted. How exactly does one go about it is it as straight foward as simply uninstalling and then reinstalling the older version? Or is there a process of going about it so that one doesn't lose important saved songs playlist etc.
    Cheers
    Athlon 64 bit   Windows XP

I'm trying to do this now. iTunes 7 is terrible. Does Apple even bother troubleshooting its programs or does it feel thats what its customers are for? LoL
I'm torn about how I feel about the iPod. On one hand, its really a nifty device, but it's far from perfect. My first problems began within 2 months of owning my 5th gen 30GB: the sound went out and apple replaced it with a refurbished model. Then, I got this terrible upgrade for iTunes. I began having problems with the video aspect and now my computer freezes everytime I try to update my ipod. I've uninstalled iTunes 7 and reinstalled 6, but now I can't even get iTunes to come up on my computer!!!!

  • Empty packages when I try to reinstall older Itunes version

    Hello.
I just updated Itunes to 7.3, only to realize that it doesn't work with OS X 10.4. As updating my system doesn't work (long history), I need an older version of Itunes.
But when I get them, either from Oldapps or here (6.0.5), and proced to install, I get an empty package, 0 bytes, in the installer. Is this related to having a newer version previously installed? Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Care to let us know which specific version of 10.4 you are using?
iTunes 7.3 requires 10.3.9 or later.
If you want to use iTunes 7.3 with the iPhone, you will need 10.4.10.

  • Want to reinstall older iTunes version

    Hi,
I've been having problems with streaming radio stations (Virgin Radio Groove, for one) since I upgraded to iTunes 7.5. How do I uninstall this version and return to the previous version. Would appreciate also an answer to the same question for Quicktime 7.3. I've not been able to access newscasts nor youtube since I uploaded this QT version. And yes, I did repair disk permissions as was suggested in another thread.
Both problems occur whether I'm using Safari or Firefox. Thanks in advance for any responses.

To downgrade - D/L what version you want at - http://www.oldapps.com/downloadiTunesmac.php
Go to HD>Library>Receipts - remove the iTunesX.pkg to the trash.
Close iTunes and drag your iTunes app to the trash. B/U your iTunes Library and .xml files. B/U your iTS purchases.
Repair permissions with Disk Utility - install iTunes - repair permissions again.
Open iTunes - if all is well you can empty the trash.
