Older Serial #'s

I'm re-installing Indesign 7.5 that I purchased online and I have the Serial #. I got through the process okay, but I'm trying to register/activate the product. It says the Serial # is valid, but since this is an upgrade version, I need the Serial # from a qualifing product. My co-workers must have thrown out the older version without checking with me and I can't find it anywhere. I tried checking with Support and they gave me this link to check. Can somebody help me out??

If the software was registered, the serial number should be available from the Adobe.com account for the ID that registered it.

I believe that you have an upgrade version of Adobe Acrobat Pro, in this case it will ask for the serial number of the previous qualifying version.

CS3 upgrade wont accept older serial number in stage 2 :(

Hi folks,
I have been happily using Photoshop CS for years and then got a retina with Mavericks...
So I had to up the ante but since I couldn't afford CC or CS5+ I got myself CS3 on eBay. Now- it was sold as "full retail" but turns out is only an upgrade but with serial number et al. No HUGE problem as I did have my Photoshop CS serial number and unboxed disk still. Or so I thought.
But it works fine to install and even to trial, but when I get to the point of my CS serial number to "upgrade" from it doesn't like my CS serial number. Meaning- I cannot upgrade!
What could the matter be? My CS serial number is fine and it does work fine on my older Mac running CS still, just not on either Mac (both the retina and the older Mac which I tested just to rule out the retina not acknowledging CS) to upgrade to CS3.
Also- I would like to register CS3 even though it is only an upgrade but it is already registered. IS there provision for owners of preowned Photoshops? I do have the bonafide disk, complete with workshop and box etc.

I just got my transcript from the chat where I am told I cannot be helped with my issue with the CS3 upgrade because I haven't been able to register the serial/licence to myself and where I signed off after apologising to the operative for wasting their time only to find that they had tagged this mysterious bit at the end, after I closed the window:
*bleep* :But in case of the upgrade cs3 serial number , sometimes there are trouble to unlock it .
*bleep* :so we need to unlock the serial number in the different way.
Obviously I cannot now ask what on earth that means.
Wee Moan Alert: I am so stressed by this as the whole reason for this is that my beloved MacBook Pro died on me just ten days after having been "repaired" by the local Apple "mechanic" and they suspect that this time it is the motherboard or logic board which made it uneconomical to repair and I had to stump out for a new retina which can only run Mavericks and Mavericks requires CS3 upward, has no Super Drive and "outdated" any of my non-native software so that this has been EXCEEDINGLY expensive.
I didn't WANT to upgrade CS (I like it- it is familiar and NEVER let me down) but had to so thought that at least buying a bonafide second-hand (full retail) version would be the best of both worlds- genuine (I like genuine and have more ancient boxed software than is sane) AND not going to break me financially (blood and stones, blood and stones!). /end moan

How do I use older serial number?

and for whatever reasons, never downloaded it. Now trying to and its Elements 12 and won't take my serial number. What can I do?

Mac Pro & Older serial ATA drive

I added a second 160 gig ATA drive (Capacity:149.05 GB Model: ST3160023AS
Revision:3.05) two and a half years ago to my 1.8 ghz Power Mac G5. I just bought a Mac Pro. Can I use my older drive in one of its bays? Do I need to do anything special?

If it is SATA then all you should need to do is insert it into a drive sled and plug it in. If you want to boot from it then you will need to erase it and change the partition map scheme in Disk Utility.

Older Serial Number Lookup

i just picked up a DP533 g4 tower at my school's warehouse. It is missing the harddrive carrier and drive. It also has no memory and the openfirmware battery is missing. The family number is M5183 but that doesn't help a lot as that covered a lot of different editions. The serial is XB1230PHKX5. I thought Apple had a link to check serials but maybe this is too old. I know it had a 40 gb drive and a 16 mb AGP card with dvi and vga outs. It had a zip 250 and a cd rw. Does anyone know how to match up the serial number to get an exact picture of how this shipped. Also if anyone happens to know the size/ voltage of the little battery that would help too. I have a drive I can hook up temporarily and some memory I can can pop in assuming this is pc133 but I need the little battery to see if there is any life life in this machine. Thanks

Go to the folder it says, and open the .lrreg file with a text editor, like Notepad or Wordpad, and look for the serial number that will be 6 groups of 4 digits beginning with 1160. Don’t post the serial-number here, of course, as this is a public forum.
If you have had more than one LR version on your computer, e.g. LR3 or LR4, there may be more than one serial number to determine, as you’ll need an older serial-number if your LR5 one is an upgrade.

Two serial numbers requestet - but I only have one

Hello, I bought a version of lightroom 5 today and downloaded it. Now I wanted to start the program and it asked for two serial numbers. The actually serial number was sent per Email but it also asked for an older serial number, but this is the first program I bougt and I do not have any other number. Does anyone has an idea. you must have purchased an upgrade. in that situation you will be prompted for the lr 5 serial number and then when the installer fails to find a qualifying product (eg, a previous lr version), you are prompted for the previous versions serial number.
if you don't own a previous version, you purchased the wrong lr version (ie, an upgrade). Return, cancel, or exchange an Adobe order

Original serial number logic

I'm trying to install a 2nd instance of Logic Studio on my MacBook Pro and the "wizard" is asking for original serial number or insert Logic XSKey. If I don't know what either of these is - how do I move forward with the installation?

You seem to have an upgrade box of Logic Studio. This only contains an upgrade serial number, you still need to proof that you own a full version of Logic. This can either be done by entering an older serial number or plugging in the XSKey, which came with older versions. Without that, you can proceed and later use the app.

InvalidClassException in serialized object

I hope someone can really help me.
This problem has me stumped. I have class "A" that does not implement Serializable, but class "A" subclasses Serializable class "B". Therefore, when reading class "A" it should be read as a serialized class. Class "A" has one data member "private char m_operator".
When I compile with JDK 1.3.1_17, the data file is read correctly. m_operator is read as a char.
When I compile with JDK 1.5.0_06, the data file is read incorrectly. m_operator is tried to be read as a String; thus, the InvalidClassException.
I tried to add the method "private void readObject(ObjectInputStream in)" to class "A" so that I could get the fields using ObjectInputStream.Field inner class. With the inner class I could then write:

(1) Why is JDK 1.5.0_06 reading m_operator as a String?

In my Eclipse debugger I stepped through the execution of the java.io classes in both 1.3.1_17 and 1.5.0_06. I didn't see any type checking in 1.3.1_17, but I did in 1.5.0_06. The type checking in 1.5.0_06 compared the type of m_operator being read in from the file with the type defined in the currently loaded class. The m_operator being read in was a String and the current class is a char.
I found an older version of the class where m_operator was a String. Apparently someone changed m_operator to a char and it works fine in 1.3.1_17.
Unfortunately, there is no solution I know of to override the type checking in 1.5.0_06. I guess you might say that 1.5.0_06 is breaking older serialized files where a type was changed..

What property settings to I need to set in order for VISA Serial Read to read ASCII exactly like the legacy serial read vi?

I have successfully built a vi which communicates with a piece of equipment via the serial port using ASCII characters. I am trying to replace the older versions of Serial Read and Write VIs with the VISA Serial Read and Write VIs. The VISA Write works fine, but the when reading data coming from the "box", the VISA Read VI returns string data with foreign looking characters instead of the usual correct ASCII characters as shown by a dumb terminal which is in parallel with the serial data line. Is there a special property node which needs to be configured on the VISA Serial Read vi, or do I need to set something on the VISA Configure Serial port v

Usually, garbage characters are an indication of a baud rate or parity mismatch, or maybe a stop bit or number of data bits setting. Make sure that you have configured your port correctly with VISA Configure Serial Port. I have used VISA serial successfully many times.

How can I reinstall Motion/DVD Studio Pro using my new serial no.

I used to have my office copy of Motion on my computer. Now that I got my own I want to reinstall it. But whenever I did that I still have the same Motion/DVD Studio Pro as was installed with the older serial no.
How can I get rip of this old serial no so I can use my new serial no?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Logic Pro 9 - Serial # (I DL from app store)

I bought Logic Pro 9 from the app store for my MacBook, I'm trying to download it to my desktop and it's asking for a serial #, it didn' t have a serial #, what do I do?

Did you or someone else previously install Logic Pro on your Macbook... be it an earlier version or LP9 itself from disk images or DVDs?
If so, that is why it is looking for a serial number... and you need to either find that previous serial or you can try and remove the older serials and then try once more to install the App Store version of LP9.
