Older songs tied to old account

I had an old account name from a couple of years ago. So, now when I try to play the old songs that were purchased under that account, it ask to authorize the account. I remember the password, but it says that the account is no longer a valid account.
How can I transfer these songs to my current account or re-activate the old account.
Thanks!

iTunes accounts do not go bad, and they are needed forever in order to authorize songs that were bought under than account. If the authorization is not working, use this page to request help from Customer Service.

  • TS1389 Hi, I am Natalie Prince and I opened my Itunes account in 2006 when I got my Ipod.  I purchased lots of music.  Over the years I haved changed computers and phones.  I now have an HTC One and I want all the songs from my old account on it.

I think I had an old itunes id.  When I go to Itunes on my program list all of my music comes up, there are probably a hundred or two songs.  But it never let me burn them to anything other than my Ipod.  I changed my password so now when I pull up my account there is no music.  Can anyone tell me how to find my old account and then copy that music to my HTC One.?

Either you did or did not.  Do you not remember?

Media is not burned to iDevices.  Burning an iDevice would destroy it.
Why will iTunes not allow you to sync media to the iDevice?  What happens when trying to sync media to an iDevice?

    Changed password to what?
    Pull up what account?
What does this have to do with iTunes?
One does not pull up an account to access their media, they simply launch iTunes.
Changing a password has nothing to do with accessing the media on the computer when one launches iTunes.
What is the actual issue that is occurring?

iTunes has nothing to do with putting media on a non-Apple device.

  • Authorizations - songs reverting to old accounts

Hello-  I am having songs that I've purchased with my current account revert back to old accounts that no longer exist.  It says I am not authorized to play the file, so I am losing library slowly and surely.  Any help?
    Thanks,
    KP

    Old accounts?
You have created new/multiple itunes accounts rather than simply updating the original account?
When you purcahse a song, the iTunes account info used to purchase is embedded in the song file. This cannot be changed.
If you have updated/changed your iTunes account name, and you play a song previously purchased and the box pops up with the old account name, just change it to the new name/password.

  • Song transferred from old account suddenly no longer plays after years of having no issues

A song I transferred from an old apple account years ago stopped working today and to play it in itunes, I am immediately prompted to log into my old account which is no longer active because I deleted the email address that was linked to the account.  How do I retrieve the song?  It is no longer available for purchase on itunes.

    Hello there,
We have heard about your issue from the discussion thread below:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6564372
We would like to know if you would be able to provide the following:
    - What is the title of your book?
    Thank you,
    The iWork Team
    18493399
Which was the same as no response — since they never followed up.
I did provide them with the title of the book, which is:
Jesus' Message to the Church of Pergamum by Rick Renner.

The customer just emailed me again to find out if I knew why their videos won't play in the iBooks Author eBook — since upgrading to iOS8. She states:
"I was wondering if you ever heard anything about this.  My iBook still does not work. Today there was a upgrade this morning for IOS 8.1 which I downloaded and it made no difference for my vimeo on the iBook."

  • HOW CAN I AUTHORISE SONGS FROM AN OLD ACCOUNT? PLEASE HELP

I recently upgraded to a ner version of itunes, at the same time, i reset my ipod software, which has now been sent off for repair. Itunes wont let me play approz 1000 songs that i have purchased.
It says to provide a password to authorise, only problem is, i no longer use that account ID, despite still knowing my password.
I can authorise more recent purchases, as that ID is current. Is there any way i can get old songs back, or have itunes ripped me off out of about £800? I dont understand why this happened.

I dont understand why this happened.
For one thing, you created a new iTunes account.
No need to do that. Just edit your account with any new info if you move or get a new email address/ISP.

  • Songs from an old account

i had an apple id that was terminated by accident and now i cant authorize songs from that account onto my new laptop i can only play them on the original computer. can i transfer purchases from the terminated account to the new one?

iTunes has no idea your old netscape account was deleted. The same username and password as before should work just fine if you're inserting it correctly. If you've forgotten the old password and need your email changed, try emailing the iTunes team:

  • Songs tied to dead account

i have some songs on my computer that are tied to a dead account.
I do not remember the password.. ( thought i did but does not work )..
Password recovery is not accepting birthday to continue and a password reset to the email account registered won't work because the email account is dead.
I have a new computer and I'm trying to set up itunes and sync to ipod, but I ran across this issue when syncing.  If I sync without fixing this authorization issue i'm gonna lose a lot of songs of my ipod and I'm worried that when I attempt to sync on the working computer I will run into the same issue.

    thanks for the info.
I have all my itunes info and music on an external so I'm not going to lose it.. Its just if I sync my ipod to the new computer it will remove from the ipod the songs that are registered under that account.
The fix is for apple just to reset and give me a password for that account.  But it looks like i will need to jump through hoops to get that.

  • How do I convert songs bought on old account IDs to a single account ID?

Over the years I have bought songs under different account IDs. They all show up and play when I am in iTunes or iPhone, but only newer ones will play over my Apple TV. Any clues?

    Yes.
iTunes menu Store > Authorize this computer for all the accounts you have.

  • NONSENSE problem: can anyone help authorize iTunes 7.0.2 old account?

iTunes 7 is the right proof that perfect is enemy of good!
Used to live in Austria for 3 years where I purchased iTunes songs with an old Austrian account. Half a year ago moved to Sweden and changed my account, having cancelled the old one. Few days ago tried to listen my songs withe recently installed iTunes - bad surprise - I cannot do it now, because it asks for authorization for the songs which I legally purchased while in Austria! And I can't authorize half of my "Austrian" songs, because the old account and old email do not exist anymore.
What the heck is going on there in Apple!!!? Playing bad disappointing tricks on devoted users...
    Can anyone help?

  • Transfer music from old account to new?

I had an old iTunes account, before this new one. How do I transfer those songs from the old account to the new one? They were on my phone but have all disappeared since I last synced it with my computer. Thanks

It isn't possible to transfer content from one account to another, I'm afraid.

  • Old account can't play music

I have a bunch of songs on an old account I can't play on my new computer.  It wants me to type in a password for the old account email and I can't figure out the password.  Tried everything I have on file. I can't change the password either nothing works it just doesn't recognize me at all. Is there any way to disable the old account that is the old email account and get the songs to play?  I still have the old computer in the garage do I have to burn everything to a cd?

Exactly what I'm trying to do.  When I first downloaded Itunes, I used my AOL account.  Since then,I have gone to apple account but can't get to my AOL account purchases.  Itunes keeps taking me in a circle.  Just keeps telling me I need apple account.
To make matters worse now, I just got new PC and it isn't recognizing as authorized computer on all my devices.  I'm not a computer whiz at all, so getting really frustrated.

  • Old Account 2 New Account

    Hello,
I want to create a new account on iTunes and import all the songs from the old account on iTunes. Is this possible or do I have to purchase all the songs again on the new account?

See this -> About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
"Make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations. If you find you have reached 5 authorizations due to system upgrades, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen. Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers or if you have used this option within the last 12 months.
*To deauthorize all computers associated with your account*
Click iTunes Store in the Source pane.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All."

  • I have an older generation of Ipod and I am trying to upload all my songs from my old Ipod to my new Itunes account. How can I change my old Apple ID to my new one so I can keep all my songs without having to buy or hunt for them all over again?

Please help I am having the hardest time trying to get all my songs on to one account to make my life easier, but my Ipod is registered under an old apple account and I want to change it so all my old songs go onto my new apple ID. Any suggestions, please help?

Sorry meffie, you cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another. Are the songs under the old ID all purchased via iTunes?
If so, then sign onto the iTunes on the computer with your old ID and Authorize the computer for that Apple ID: Store on the top menu, then click on Authorize This Computer.
Once it is Authorized, you can then go to the iTunes Store and under Quick Links on the right-hand side, click on Purchased. Then click on Music, Songs, Not In this Library, and you should be able to see all of your purchased music, which you can download to your iTunes library individually by clicking on the cloud next to the song, or you can click on Download All at the bottom of the screen to download all of the tunes.
    Cheers,
