Older versions of Developer Tools?

I am a Mac newbie. I'm also a newbie at Java (just getting ready to start teaching myself). I have a G3 Blue Clamshell laptop with 192 megs of RAM and I'm running 10.3.12. I can't run the latest version of OS X because it requires at least 256 RAM. I've tried installing Java142Update1Tools.dmg but it says it can't install because I don't have the Developer Tools installed. But I can't find the version of Developer Tools that will work on my computer. I haven't been able to find any links to the older versions of the Developer Tools and/or XCode.
Does anyone know where I can find these? Thanks in advance for any and all information you can give.

I'm fairly sure you want Xcode 1.5. It may be on your 10.3 disks already, or you can download it from here:
http://connect.apple.com
Log in (get a free online membership if you don't have one) and go to Downloads, then Developer tools. Search for "v1.5" (no quotes) and you'll be in the right place. Warning, it is pretty huge (372 MB).

  • Older versions of toolkits

    Hello,
is there a site from which I can download older versions of toolkits. At my workplace, I am eligible to use some of the tool kits (DSC, Database connectivity toolkit, etc). Since we are using older version (2009) of LabVIEW, I cannot use the toolkit versions available on the NI evaluation site. I could not find the older version also in ftp site. Could you tell me where I can download the older versions of the tool kits.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Zacharia

    Hi Zacharia,
    Thanks for your post.
Unfortunately only the latest versions of the toolkits are available to download via the NI website. However I would encourage you to get in touch with your local NI office for further assistance as they may be able to provide you with a copy.
    Hope that helps!

Apple is more likely to see your comments if you send feedback via:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
You may be able to go back with Time Machine but this may involve restoring other items too (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441404).  Alternatively:
Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
    Quit iTunes.
Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at:  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394.  Do steps 3 and 4.  Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential.  Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved.  Two ways to do this are:
    1.  Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
    2. Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:
Delete iTunes in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/13/delete-itunes-in-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/
After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7.  I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:
    AirTrafficHost.framework
    CoreFP.framework
    DeviceLink.framework
    iTunesAccess.framework
    MobileDevice.framework
After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl"  and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since.  See:

Alternatively, check https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441424 which requires you have a Time Machine backup (though possibly if you remove the newer version of these files old ones may be installed with the iTunes 10.7 installer - untested).  A  variant of this is at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20448184

Removing the favicons, changing the titles to 1-4 characters without spaces, and putting some or most into folders still readily accessible from the bookmarks toolbar
would help a lot. Also changing the size of the bookmarks toolbar text and color with a Style to differentiate between folders and bookmark/bookmarklets would help, see

Hi bluefleetwood, the options on this site are Mozilla's current support options for Firefox.
Try the addons site again in case it was a temporary problem, or if it's an SSL certificate problem, please indicate what the page says about the certificate.
You have a serif font for most of your Firefox UI. Can you let us know what font that is? Most likely it was selected in your Windows display settings (right-click Desktop, then Properties) and appears on many of your applications. It appears to be the same one for Menu text and Message Box text.

  • Application developed \in older versions is not workin in current version

Has anyone else had a problem running applications developed in previous versions of Jdeveloper with the new version? I started developing using the TUHRA example with using 3 previous versions and until I downloaded the current version it ran fine. In the current version I get strange errors that I have not gotten in older versions like The content of this page failed to load as expected because data transmission was interrupted. Please try again, or contact your system administrator and java.lang.String cannot be cast to oracle.jbo.domain.Number on things that used to work.

Spot color are just channels. You could use a green spot color and give your printer a note to print it red and it would come out perfect. Except for preview purposes the actual color used does not matter. That's the whole point of spot colors. So for what it's worth, take out your reference chart and find a matching color to use in the meantime if you don't have the original color library. Otherwise perhaps Pantone are providing suitable color books for download on their site...

  • Tools to test websites on older versions of safari / hardware

Sorry if this appears elsewhere but did look to see if there was an answer and couldn't find one. We are having problems with our transactional website with older versions of Safari (OSX Tiger Safari version Safari  Version 4. 1. 3.  (4533.19.4 ) and leopard safari version Safari Version 5.0.6) on Pwer mac and Intel macs. Do you know if there are any enulation tools about so we can test these because we don't have the hardware / software to do it.

Yes, we have a website which I want to support all flavours of OSX and Safari. We don't havea problem with later versions, but going back to Lion on Intel and power mac, users are experiencing problems. We cannot replicate the problems because we don't have the hardware or software versions to replicate, so was wondering if there were any tools out there that we could simulate those versions for testing / debugging.
We could, as etresoft said, check the agent and advise that we don't support the version, but as a mac user myself, I have it when websites don't support Mac browsers, plus we have a large Mac using user base.

  • Question about doing application development against older versions of Access

I'll be working on a MS Access 2007 application written by someone else, whose no longer here. I've no experience writing MS Access applications, however I've used MS Access several times through the years as a desktop database. Therefore I know it's possible
to open an older Access database, say Access 2007, with a newer version of Access. You can bring up tables, query definitions, etc. and do normal database things in newer versions of Access against older .mdb's or .accdb's.
What I don't know is if it is possible to also do development against older versions of Access. Can I have MS Access 2013 on my development PC, but open a MS Access 2007 database with the Access application in it, and do development? Or will Access 2013
insist that I upgrade the older database file to Access 2013?
    Rod

One can definitely open and use it with Access 2013 (note - we haven't gotten to 'develop' it yet.....)
Generally an app written with the 2007 edition is going to be a .accdb file - but it is possible it is the older .mdb file format.
In development is your issue; the latest edition has newer features that the older edition can't possibly know about.  Nothing unique about Access on this point.  It just is.  So if you invoke any of those - then you'll lose your backward
ability as a 2007 user won't be able to open it.
I definitely have tried to open an app in 07 only to receive a 'not recognized' type error message - and moved that app over to my 13 machine where it opened fine....and was never able to find which feature unique to 13 was the culprit....
So if you tread cautiously you can be okay - and while I think I know the features that differentiate the products, I still prefer to play it safe and do all development in the edition that is used.

  • Do I need to and how to uninstall older version of JDK 7.0

Hi,all I have installed both JDK 1.7 update 21(1.7.0.210) and 51(1.7.0.510), and so I wonder do I need to uninstall the older version which is JDK 1.7 update 21, as they both show up in the list of `Programs and Features` on Windows. Second, I tried Java Uninstall Tool, it only reports `There are no older versions of Java on your computer`. So I wonder can I just use the `Programs and Features` that manually uninstall any version of Java if I need to.
    cheers

As I also set up `JAVA_HOME` to `jdk1.7.0_21` when I tried to install Android Developer Kit, so do I need to update `JAVA_HOME` accordingly? The installation was tricky, and I don't know if it is this setting up `JAVA_HOME` step made the ADT installation work.
If the installation instructions of this product require setting a JAVA_HOME variable then yes, otherwise no.
Trying is certainly a good teacher, but I'd rather read documentation first to at least make it educated tries.

  • Opening ver 8 PDF files in older versions

We are processing documents with Professional 7, and are starting to receive documents created in Acrobat 8. Each document that does this throws up the pop-up regarding "created in an older version, may not be supported, etc. etc". Is this pop-up embedded in the structure of the incoming document? We have set Acrobat 7 to suppress any pop-ups, since we are processing in an automated setting on servers with no active users. I've selected "Don't show this message again" more than one time now, which leads me to think that the warning is attached to the document. Can anyone verify that?

I don't speak for Adobe, but I would recommend that, unless you have
negotated a special license for this, you stop immediately, since use
of Acrobat on a server is usually held, including by Adobe reps, to be
a breach of the EULA. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm sure
your company won't want to continue in this situation. Check out the
Developer FAQ for some written support for this statement.
In general, a different license is potentially needed for anything run
on a server, and such licenses are sometimes unavailable. Checking is
vital, and not checking can be an expensive mistake that has cost some
    companies millions of dollars.
In practice, Acrobat is also wildly technically unsuitable too, so
changing now may save much grief in the future.
Adobe sell the PDF Library for server use, or there are third party
tools. Maybe Appligent's AppendPDF is the sort of tool you need.

  • Developer tools for 10.3 (or help compiling for 10.3)

I want to use the 'date' command to adjust the date but the -v (adjust) flag isn't available on the 10.3.9 server where the script needs to run.
So i'm trying to install 'yest' (a date manipulation tool) on the same 10.3 server. (maybe someone has a better idea?)
I've downloaded the latest xcode 3.1 dev tools but it won't install on this 10.3 server. Installer opens but never gets to the main installation window.
i've installed 'yest' on another ppc computer (10.5) and copied the binary to this 10.3 server but it gives errors when running... ("stderrp expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib")
so i'm thinking that i need to compile 'yest' on a 10.3 computer but i can't get the developer tools to install on one. i can't find any older versions of the developer tools online either... and can't find one on an installer cd/dvd.
does anyone know where i can get a 10.3 compatible developer tools installer?
or is there a flag i can use when compiling 'yest' on a 10.5 computer so that it'll work on a 10.3 computer? (i'm compiling using "gcc -o /usr/bin/yest yest-2.7.0.4.c")
    any other ideas?
    thanks!

per this url, i copied 4 files from a different 10.3 system to the one i'm trying to compile on. it then worked. i copied the 'yest' binary to the 10.3 server where i want the script to run and now 'yest' works on my 10.3 ppc server.
i think i'll be able to move on now...
