Older versions of reader, delete or do i have to keep them?

i just d/l reader 11 do i still need the older versions or should i delete them

As I understand things, if in Win, you can use this tool to first remove all traces of all versions of Reader from your computer:

Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
And if in Mac, you may keep them or remove them.

I use Acrobat to create pdfs for my classes. This session, many of my students can not open the pdfs that I created with Acrobat 9. This is especially true of students with older Operating systems and older versions of reader. Is there a way that I can create pdfs in Acrobat 9 that these older readers can open?

You should be able to set the backward compatibility in the Adobe PDF printer. There is a setting for the version there.

PDF saveable in older versions of reader?

We are wanting to make our scholarship application available online and I know that in the past a fillable form could not be saved with just the reader program. I know the newer version permits that, but I was interested to know which versions of the reader do not offer users the feature of being able to save the fillable pdf for future use.

"Backward compatibility" (with older versions of Reader) and "Extended Features" (the ability to save a filled form and email it) are Save settings in Acrobat (Reader has nothing to do with it). Additionally, Acrobat's EULA specifically places a limit on the number of forms you can legally extract data from (500) if created with Acrobat Pro. If you expect more than the limit to be returned, you'll need to look into an Enterprise plan with LiveCycle for form creation or your organization may violate the EULA for Acrobat.

When uninstalling an older version of reader, I get an error message about transform paths

I tried to uninstall version 8.1.2, and I get an error message to verify that the specified transform paths are valid. Some body please help. I could use the 90mb of space it's taking up.
My system is a laptop, vista 32 bit. No security update issues are involved. I am running version 10, and simply want some memory back.

If you feel you need erasing 90 MB. I would suggest getting some additional storage medium (external HD, ...). In any case, you may want to try the following: Run this fix from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall Uninstall Reader using Add/Remove Programs

The only way you can do that is to import them into your library first, but you may have done that already.
The easiest way to tell is to select a photo from the photostream album in iPhoto and ctrl-click on it, if it gives you the option to import it isn't in your iPhoto library, if it offers you the option to show in library it has already been imorted.

I use iTunes Match so I can't confirm this on my computer (my Music tab looks different), but as I recall, on the Music tab you have the option to check to sync selected playlists, artists and genres, and then check which playlists you want to sync below that. Then, like songs, you would uncheck the playlists you don't want on your phone and sync to remove them.

I am using Group Policy to deploy Acrobat reader version 8.1.2 - however this does not do an upgrade to older versions or delete older versions. is there a way to do uninstalls or upgrades to the latest version using group policy?

Most programs unistall easily from the control panels add/remove programs icon application.
This older version i installed on my computer will not uninstall.

It tends to stall out or not uninstall at all.
There is not even an unistall choice available any more on the add/remove programs.

After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

Older version of Reader

I need to have 11.0.2 in order to read a file from Grants.gov. I have 11.0.3 and cannot find the older version on your web site to download. Please help. I must submit the grant very soon.

You may have Acrobat set as the default app for handling PDFs, and that's the cause.
In the Reader Preferences under General
Click Select Default PDF Handler
Select Reader from the drop down and click Apply. This will stop Acrobat 9 from opening PDFs unless you choose to open with it.

Acrobat Javascript and older versions of Reader

Hi,
I have created a basic Acrobat Javascript for my PDFs which reside at the document level.
What i want to know is, how backwards compatible is Acrobat Javascript? Will it work in older versions of Adobe Reader?
I have not managed to find much on this so any info would be appreciated. I just need to make sure the script runs to all my users regardless of what version of reader they are using.
Is this possible?

In addition to George's statement, you might also check the JavaScript version a specific Acrobat version supports; there have been a few useful changes in Core JavaScript 1.7 and 1.8 (in the Array object), which may prevent your script running properly in Acrobat 7 (and older).
On the other hand, with the exception of "security" annoyances, old code (developed in Acrobat 4 or so) usually still works in Acrobat 10. This means, that you can program for a specific Acrobat version, and it should be fine with several newer versions as well. If not sure, check the documentation (mentioned by George) and try it out.
