Older versions of Skype

Hi everyone. My first post here.
I'm trying to use Skype with a Axis M1054 camera. I'm using this via the Axis Streaming Assistant software but I've just found out that Skype 6.3 is the last version the Axis Streaming Assistant was compatible with.
I've tried searching for Skype 6.3 to download but I've not been able to find it. Are the older versions of Skype still available and does anyone know where I could download this from?
Tried http://www.oldapps.com/skype.php but all the older versions have been taken down.
Thanks in advance

Same problem: Upgraded to Skype 6.16.0.015 on Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) just to lose my webcam option! I tried reinstalling/updating all drivers and webcam drivers, but nothing made my built-in-webcam come back IN SKYPE.
But, at the same time, all other apps DID recognize my webcam.Weird.
So, I uninstalled Skype 6.16.0.015 and reistalled an older version 6.3.0.017 from

... and the webcam works again. Hurra!!!

  • I prefer the older version of Skype - how can I ge...

    Hello,
Why did Skype have to automatically update to this new version, which I personally think is horrifying (sorry, but it had to be said) - It seems really hard to do anything with the new layout (such as upload photos and see all my contacts)... And I was used to the older version and just prefered the look of the older version overall.
I was just wondering how could I get the older version of Skype back (the one just before the layout turned horrifying)...
I want to keep all my contacts and messages (which go back years) so how could I do this? I don't really want to uninstall anything unless it is completely necessary..
I wish Skype could provide an option to be able to change either the layout or the version. Please sort this out Skype..
    Thank you!

Download Skype 6.21 from here filehippo.com/download_skype/58884/
then go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Skype Updater -> set to DISABLED
then go to Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Security -> Restricted Sites -> Sites -> add apps.skype.com and g.msn.com

  • Can't use older versions of Skype anymore?

Alright, so I hate when things update, and usually I just put up with it for new innovative features. I was very content with Skype 5, and the upgrade to 6.0 was frustrating, but I dealt with it. Never at any point during my use of 6 did I prefer it to 5, even as time went on.
Finally, we get to today. I was forced to download Skype 7, and it is the most horrible, buggy, frustrating thing ever. I can barely do anything without it randomly freezing, or spiking in memory usage. I'm using the right version for my computer, my computer is very up to date on hardware, and I've had no software problems with ANY other program to this magnatude. And that's BESIDE the fact that Skype 7 just looks DISGUSTING. The organization of my recent messages and contacts is downright attrocious and I can barely keep my recent replies in check.
The worst part is that I can't downgrade to a better version. After STRUGGLING to find an older version, it just tells me that Skype can't connect. Are you serious? I'm being FORCED to use this useless piece of junk? I've used a LOT of Skype (at least 5 hours a day daily since I got it.) And I think this is the last straw for me. I don't know what to do, I can't use this version, it's terrible.
The question I'm posing in this thread, is how do I use an older version of Skype. If the answer is "I don't." Then I'm uninstalling and never coming back.

I have the same problem. This morning my skype decided it was time to update itself. Even though (of course), it shouldn't even check for updates or ask me to update. Or at least these are my settings...
However, this has happened before. But before, when skype updated, I could just uninstall it and install the version that I want to (keeping an exe with the proper version always did the trick). The things is that when I tried to install my older version after uninstalling, skype installer says that servers are down. Meaning that skype has stopped working with these older versions. They are now forbidden to install (even if you find an installer somewhere and OldVersion and OldApps have stopped support for skype).
I am seriously considering forgetting about skype and using an alternative. Some people have mentioned the emoticons and the general layout of the new version that disgusts them. But I will also add that the way we used to send pictures over skype is now changed. And it's horrible! Sending a link with the shared photo is just waste of time. You'd need to open a browser, log in, open the photo and download it just so you can have it on your computer (wtf??). Adding to this is the decrease of its quality and resolution and the missing name of the picture.
Thank you for reading (a potato).

    Hey,
I'm looking for an older version of skype (before the overhaul) as the ones after kept crashing my pc, constantly.
Tried to find one via web archive, but that didn't work.
Had issues with other ones I managed to download.
What is the most recent pre-overhaul download?
Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool (do not press the Run 64-bit DxDiag button).
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

  • Need to download an older version of Skype!

So, basically, this new version of Skype and my computer do not get along. There are too many glitches in the newer version that simply makes it unusable on my computer.
To cut to the chase, my timezones are all wrong, my country is wrong, and my chat doesn't work > I get the notifications that someone is talking to me, but cannot see the text as well as when I reply I also cannot see what I've written.
Long story short, please do not bother trying to "fix" my current problems because a) I have already had another forum where my problem could not be fixed and b) I rather the old version anyways because this new version is just a handful of headaches!
SO that out of the way - older versions? Download links? Is it possible to download an older version of Skype through Skype or do I have to go to another website?

I didn't start a new thread for the same problem.
It's like every day I turn on skype it's one step closer to self-destruction.
The other thread is about my timezone problems WHICH may I add, have yet to be solved for version 6.1. My timezones for my contacts and I are still being displayed wrong. Only some seem to be displayed correctly.
I'm having a different problem, on top of the other one, except this one makes Skype UNUSABLE. I cannot chat. My chats are all frozen to yesterday's conversations. I thought it was just the new version of skype (since the problems started upon the upgrade) but now that I've downloaded the older version, I still cannot chat. I'm having the same problem.
EDIT: ALTHOUGH - checking the timezones on the old version of Skype, they seem to be all correct.

  • Can I get my older version of Skype back ?

Hello ! I just upgraded my Skype to the version 6.22.81.105 and for multiples reasons I don't feel comfortable with it and I liked the old one more. Is there a way to get back to an older version of Skype ? Thanks for reading

  • Where can I download an older version of Skype for iPad

I have just restored my ipad to factory settings. I have downloaded Skype, but it is the most recent version and I don't like it.
would like to download version 5.3.59.1093, which is what I have on my imac.
But when I went to a website and tried to download it, it said that it was not able to download it with Safari.
    Please can anyone help?

If you have the older version from the app store and it's in your computer's iTunes library (if it's not then you should be able to add it via File > Add To Library), then you will need to delete the current version from your iPad and then connect the iPad to your computer and sync that older to it (syncing apps). You will need to remember not to 'update all' via the Updates tab in the App Store app, otherwise it will get over written with the current store version.

  • Need older version of skype! [Limk it HEELP!]

    Hello
I just got a new computer (windows 7 still) and this new last version of Skpye is a joke. It's inconvinient and hard to see like people in chats and calling up people not to mention the chat, just disgusting ugly layout. Had an older version before from late 2012 who I could talk with my friends in skype, share screen and webcam.
I want the old version back, Anyone here has some old skype that you could link for me? Because the ones I tried too download haven't worked. Maybe the skype community want you stuck with their new version?:s Though I want the old back, must have it back!

You can uninstall the 6.22 version with the new user interface and install the 6.21.0.104 version with the traditional interface:

  • So my ibook can't support Skype 2.8, but it does run the older versions of skype, but the older ones keep forcing me to upgrade to 2.8, is there a way around this forced upgrade?

Is there a version of skype that won't force me to upgrade to 2.8, since my ibook can't run it?/
Also, I've been having issues with voice, as in, I can't seem to call anyone...I tried ichat and jabber and the option for calling is not available....what do i do?

This is a silly Skype Upgrade bug. On a PowerPC when you've got Skype v.2.x and you (automatically or not) look for updates. It will find you an update, and it will tell you it's the latest 2.8 version, but in fact it will download the latest Intel only version. Which of course won't work on a PowerPC.
What you do is to go to the Skype web site, click on Get Skype - Mac, then you stay on top or go all the way down on the Mac page were you find Download Skype 2.8 for Mac and click on it, and then you download v. 2.8.0.866 and install it.
    Or directly: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/get-skype/on-your-computer/macosx/2-8
Then you open up Skype and go to Preferences (Menu - Skype - Preferences) were you uncheck "Check for updates automatically".
At least I've got no problems and I regularly use Skype on an iBook, much much better interface than the 5.x version that I've got on Windows. I use an USB headset to get a good sound.

  • My Macbook pro 10.5.8 will not download the new version of skype

I am abroad at the moment - suddenly Skype cut out, informing me that the version was outdated.  I need skype to operate for my work -  the new version of skype won't download...  do I need to upgrade my Macbookpro 10.5.8 now?

    MissDizzy,
not necessarily. You can try running Skype 2.8, which Mac OS X 10.5.8 should be able to use if you add the following line to your /etc/hosts file:
    127.0.0.1       ui.skype.com
(The whitespace between the “1” and the “ui” should be a single tab character.)
If you’d rather not use an older version of Skype and edit one of your system files, you could instead purchase the white retail Snow Leopard DVD and install Snow Leopard onto your MacBook Pro, run Software Update to get it updated to Mac OS X 10.6.8, and then see if you can download and run the latest version of Skype.
If the latest version of Skype doesn’t run under Mac OS X 10.6.8, you could then download either Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks from the Mac App Store (which will be available to you once you have Mac OS X 10.6.8 installed), install the newer OS, and run Software Update again to get up to date. (Note that if you have an Early 2006 MacBook Pro, you’ll only be able to upgrade to Snow Leopard; if you have a Late 2006 model, you can only upgrade up to Lion. Lion and Mountain Lion are not gratis; Mavericks is gratis. If you upgrade past Snow Leopard, then you might need more RAM to run well.)

  • Old Versions of Skype (6.x)

Since Microsoft removed all older versions of Skype from their servers and my computer does not run the newest versions withot lag, I am searching an old full-offline Setup of Skype, preferably 6.17.
    inb4: Google it!
I googled and found some setups, however these were versions <6.14 and they can't connect to the skypeservers anymore. (Yes, even those from filehippo & oldapps.com)
    Solved!

It's not about the RAM, it's about the graphical userinterface which is just bloated. I am using a GPU from the stone-age.
However, as I said, all Microsoft Installer Setups were removed from the Skypeservers, so no links from this forum showed me a setup.
Nevertheless, I've managed to download some old setups via archive.org but I don't know how long they are in the cache of it, so I'm just posting some links here now and close this thread.
(All these setups are signed by Skype, if you want you can check the hashes.)

  • Need Original/Older Version of Voice Memos Back

I just upgraded my iphone 3GS to iOS 5. It worked nothing too bad. But I found  one thing is very annoy is that I  could not use the Voice Memo the way I used to, which was I could minimize the voice memo without stop playing it so I could play around with other app a the same time as long as the sound was not involved. I use such as by classroom record and note book. So I could take picture of what's on the board and make recording at the same time and went home study on it by listening and watching the pictures at the same time. Now I could not do it any more-:(((.
I Hope there somebody who could help me with to restore my old Voice Memo back to  my iphone
    Thank you very much,
    Li

No need to install older version. Simply don't install the Click to Call plugin.
You can also download older version of Skype from Old.Apps.com

They may have a do-it-yourself troubleshoot system but that doesnt help my problem at all.

Today my skype updated to 7 and I absolutely hate it.
How do I revert back to my older version skype.
I dont want to lose any of my history etc.

You don't. Msoft have decieded that  treating their customers like **bleep** is more productive. You can of course, go and try the Skype for Web which will equally p*ss you off as it does nothing.
Don't ask me  why MSoft would try to force their entire customer base to change their password and have to reinitiate all their contacts - it is mindboggling that they are so arrogant.
