OLE objects linked to MS Word/MS Excel do not update in InfoView

I am facing the following problem:
- Embedded a Word document as linked OLE object into a crystal report and stored it to Enterprise repository.
- When opening the report with CR Developer from my workstation, links are updated and changes made in the .doc file are reflected, the report is updated
- However when displaying and refreshing the report in InfoView changes aren't reflected.
The OLE link (type document) is set to update automatically. I tried to store the report to the enterprise repository with and without data. Yet no difference - no update in either case. Neither scheduling nor opening and refreshing the report in InfoView helps.
I further inserted an OLE object linked to a bmp image, and for the image refreshing works, even in InfoView
So am I doing something wrong?
Some threads in this forum indicate that only OLE linked pictures (bmp, jpg) can be refreshed dynamically, e.g.

Others indicate that it is also possible to dynamically refresh OLE objects linked to .doc, e.g.

- Is it at all possible to dynamically display the contents of .doc or .xls files in a CR when viewing and refreshing the report in InfoView (without the need to reopen and resave the report with CR Developer first) ?
- We are using BOE XI3.1 SP3 and Crystal Reports 2008 SP3. On the BOE server Crystal Reports Developer is not installed. Can this be a prerequisite for the OLE links to update in InfoView?
- Any other suggestions?

- You say that this works in CR Designer. That's right. As described above, even I can open the report with CR Designer and the links are getting updated.
- However if I do not reopen and resave the report with Designer ... if I just open and refresh the report in InfoView to get the updated information from the files ... changes are not shown. I face this problem ONLY with ole links to .doc and .exe. OLE links to image formats such as .bmp do work. WHY?
My files are already stored locally to the BO server and the (changed) image files are read and updated from exactly this directory. But not the linked Excel and Word files...

I started to download Maverick but then read that Word and Excel do not work with Maverick. I hit pause on the download. How do I stop the download. In non technical terms please!

How do I stop the download of Maverick on my MacBookPro? I started downloading then discovered that 2008 Word and Excel do not work with Maverick. I have too many files in the 2008 version to upgrade them at this time. I just need instructions in non technical terms to stop the Maverick download.

I did the same as Tapmr and have paused the "upgrade". So am I to understand that the upgrade only downloads and will not automatically install it? I am an extreme novice here, and cannot afford any issues after I upgrade/download. I don't know how to make a clone copy as you suggested either.
I need assurance that if the upgrade is allowed to continue that I will be able to delete the upgrade downloaded and continue on as before with my regular system.

Can't open form-protected Web resource from a link in a Word or Excel doc

I've run into an issue with OAM and Web resources protected by a Form authentication scheme.
Summary: I have a form-protected Web resource, and I add a hyperlink to that resource into a Microsoft Word or Excel document. Now, I click on the link in the document, and a Web browser is opened with the login form. However, the browser does not have any of the session cookies (ObFormLoginCookie, ObSSOCookie) required for the form to work, so the login only results in an error page.
(This issue is partly the fault of Word and Excel, because they try to open the link themselves, and so they get the session cookies. If they handed off all of the work to the default browser, this wouldn't be an issue.)
Is there a simple solution to this problem? Can I write code to extend the form authentication scheme to use something like the query string instead of the ObFormLoginCookie? Or am I faced with writing a custom AccessGate?
(I know this problem doesn't effect resources protected by Basic Over LDAP authentication, but then we lose the advantages of a custom login form.)

i am faceing a file download problem too..........
i am protecting jboss application,,,,using apache, and jk....
all work fine except for open a file(word,excel,txt,etc).
Disable the policy domain, everything goes just fine. microsoft file dialogue opens,you can open the file directly, or save it to your computer........
Enable the policy domain,, you can only save the file to your computer(file content is also correct),,,but cannot open it directly.it says the file path could not be found......but if the word/excel application is already running, you can open it fine...
PS:not a computer issue,,,every computers faceing the same problem

Can't open Word and Excel documents after updating to Yosemite

I have updated to Yosemite and now every time I try to open the application of Word or Excel or any of the documents I have i get the following message:
"You can’t open the application “Microsoft Excel” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
I need to fix this please as these are business documents. I also have Templates for MS Office but they don't open what I have.

OLE Automation from Java (MS Word and Excel)

Hello,
I want to insert the data from my Java application into a MS Word document with bookmarks/fields that have to be filled, format the text, run a macro, save and print the document. Similar for MS Excel.
What I have gathered so far: The JavaBean-ActiveX bridge is for treating JavaBeans as ActiveX components, not the other way around. So I have to write native methods that access Word's COM - Component Object Model. Well, I don't "speak" C very well. I have found three commercial and one open source software that can do this:
- Java2Com by Neva Object Technology
- Jacob by Dan Adler
- J-Integra by Intrinsyc
- jacoZoom
Does anyone have experience with any of these and could tell me which ones are good and which ones are not so good? Or is there a completely different solution to doing this?

i've a similar situation. I store a word file containing word fields on a server. I would like to realize a merging between txt file containing datas and my word file, opening the result in word from a jsp. How can i do?

I just upgraded to Lion. Now when I try to open Word, Powerpoint or Excel I get an error which says: You can't open the applicatoin Microsoft Excel because Power PC appliactions are no longer supported.
Has anyone seen this? Is my software too old or do I need another software upgrade?

You software is too old. You need to move to Office 2008, 2011 or use iWork or use Open Office (or Libre Office, or NeoOffice, etc.)

I have installed Mountain Lion. I hate it! All my files in documents that were Word or Excel will not open. I am not that computer savy so this is a real problem

You probably have Microsoft Office 2004 and can upgrade to Microsoft 2011.
Microsoft Office's 2011 version is compatible with Lion and presumably either works with Mountain Lion or an update will make it so. The problem with this approach is that Office 2011 will "convert" your earlier data files and there lies the rub! For example, I have the need to weekly open a chart created in Excel 2004, but Excel 2011 trashes the chart in its "conversion."
So I have approached the overall problem differently.
The reason your applications do not work in Mountain Lion is that they were written for the older PowerPC CPU that all Macs used up to 2006. When Apple made its transition to the Intel CPU, they licensed software that they included in all versions of OS X (from Tiger to Leopard and optionally, Snow Leopard) called Rosetta.
Rosetta miraculously allows PowerPC applications to work on the Intel processor transparently; you do not know it is even present.
The problem is that after 6 years of the transition, Apple's license to use the underlying software expired for OS X Lion and all version thereafter (and it is doubtful that the current owner of the software, IBM, would relicense it, even if Apple were inclined to do so).
So for those of use that need to run Lion, I have offered the option to install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7:

Truncation of leading Zeros when Down Loading into Excel - OLE Objects

Can any one help me on this.
I am using <b>OLE Objects</b> to download Data into Excel Sheet. Data with leading Zeros is getting truncated in Excel.
Ex: Report Output is showing Plant Number as 0002. But when i am downloading to Excel Plant value will become 2 .
   I would like to have it as 0002 in Excel.
I have declared Werks as CHAR of 4.I am using OLE Obects for Downloading into Excel Sheet.
I am using "OLE2_OBJECT" I can not use any other FMs to down load to Excel.As i am modifying this program not creating.

While downloading to excel sheet, u need to change the number format of cell from General to Text, then leading zero's won't get deleted. For that u need to set the property of the cell. Please check this sample code,

Formatting OLE object to variable file paths.

I am currently using the trial version (2008) of Crystal Reports...at least for the next 7 1/2 days! I have worked through all my problems/questions except one. I am trying to insert a SolidWorks drawing document as an OLE object (linked) & the file path for the SW drawing needs to vary by the part name. I placed a column in my Excel worksheet titled "Drawing File" & have tried several different formats to point the OLE to the correct file. Thus far I am successful only in showing the original file the OLE object was created with. The file path is Z:

I got the format right from the start. Crystal '08 simply would not link to a SolidWorks file as it will a JPEG file (or any other picture file). So be warned...if you want a SolidWorks drawing to show on your Crystal Report, you MUST save it as a picture file, which as SolidWorks users know, puts EXTREME limitations on a super product since your drawings & models are dynamically related.

Problem with embedded OLE objects

I am using Outlook as client.
I sent mail with Excel table as embeddet object.
Outlook can after what read and show this mail.
But if I read this mail with SOAP I get a message body without Excel table.
I thought it should be in attachment.
hasAttachments-filed in mail object is true, but attachments-filed is empty (not null!): attachments=AttachmentItemInfo[0].
I am reading mail with getItemRequest and view = "default attachments attachment message attachments".
We are using Groupwise 8.0.1 HP1.
What is hier wrong? How can I read OLE object with SOAP?

If you are trying to save an embedded OLE attachment,
there is no logic to do that on the POA, the attachment
will be dropped.

DMS Object link for PRT Couldnot Display in CV02N

Hi PLM DMS Gurus ,
I have been investigating adding an object link for PRT which is CRVS_B screen 214. I have added this to the one document type. However, when I attempt to see the object link from the CV02N transaction, it does not appear to recognize the PRT assignment from the IA06 Change General Task List PRT Overview screen. Do any one have any idea of why this may be behaving in this way? Any feedback you can provide will be appreciated.
When I add the Documents through transaction CF02/01 then it is showing in the CV02N transaction Object link , But if I attach the same Document# through IA06 then it is not showing it.
steps to attach the document .
1. Go to IA06 select a group
2. Double click the task list and create an Operation
3. Choose the Operation and click into the PRT button in the bottom of the screen.
4 . Here you can find an option to attach your Document .
5. Once you attach note down the document number and goto CV02N and see the object Link . You will not find that .
I am doubted whether I am using the right screen number or not (CRVS_B screen 214) . Do we have any other way or anyother program & screen to show the Object link to the PRT created through IA06 .
How do we find the program and screen which is not listed in the developement class CV ?.
Any Inputs are highly appreciable and rewardable.

What you do in IA06 is using a document as an PRT. This is not the same as a objectlink between a PRT and a document. Thats why you dont see the use of the document in a tasklist in CV02n.

OSX LION UPGRADE AND WORD AND EXCEL

Just upgraded to OSX Lion and my old word and excel will not open. Message is "Power PC applications are no longer supported?" What can I do?
