  • Oracle BI with Oracle Financials

    How easy is it to prepare the Oracle database to allow Oracle BI to integrate with Oracle Financials?
    To expand, our organization is currently using Oracle Financials and we are considering implementing Oracle BI to support reporting. Is this fairly easy to do given the current database structure or would all the dimensions need to be configured?

    If you are using oracle financials , then implementing oracle BI using oracle production like discoverer, portal, BI beans would be easy and straight.
    there would be no requirement like ETL , Datawarehousing etc. Do you have already some support reporting system or is this new conceprt in your workplace.
    if this is new ,that it would be great , else you need to identiy how to map the existing reporting scenarios to be mapped in oracle BI. please explain your query a bit to add more detail, thanks

    Oracle Financials: Constant and High "Read" I/O:
    Problem Description:
    Most of the I/O on all of our 3 Oracle Financial 11.5.9 servers is read intensive and they are all going against 2 “HOT” applsys database files causing constant high I/O even when the application is not in use.

    I have toggled with the Filesystem mount options noatime,forcedirectio,logging but it did not make a difference.
    The Solaris Directory Name Lookup Cache hits is 98% - OK
    The buffer_cache_lookups & buffer_cache_hits numbers are very close - OK
    Question:
    I am pretty sure distributing the applsys tablespace and across six file systems will help?
    What is the best way to do this in Oracle Financials?
    If you are running solaris please run the following command and share your output.

  • Oracle Reports with Oracle Financials (FMIS)

    Hi folks,
    I'm in a bit of a bind at the moment. I really really need a little help getting an understanding of Oracle Report Writer. The situation is as follows:
    I'm currently working on a system that moves data from an SQL Server 7.0 Database into some Oracle Financials (FMIS) Interface Tables. The Interface tables are apparently used to post Customer and Invoicing information into the real Oracle Financials tables, for Invoicing and General Ledger purposes.
    Its come to my understanding that Oracle ReportWriter is no longer available on the market today? Is this true? The reason why I ask is, my client is tossing with the idea of using Oracle ReportWriter over Crystal Reports.
    The only thing that I have heard is that Oracle Report Writer is a much more powerful tool than Crystal Reports. So I guess the main question would be, is Report Writer a more powerful and easy to use application over other report writing tools?
    Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    Vick,
    I believe it is all in the name. Oracle ReportWriter is long gone; however it has evolved to Oracle Reports which is going strong. The current version is Oracle Reports 6i and has been out for more than a year. It was preceeded by Oracle Reports 6.0, 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and finally ReportWriter1.1,.... The Early versions were packaged in various bundles with our other tools.
    Oracle Reports is a very powerful reporting tools and stacks up very well against Crystal. One big advantage is that we work extremely well against an Oracle Database (no external drivers to go through). We also run on a greater variety of machines including Unix. We provide XML output and integration with our other BI tools, Discoverer and Express as well as Oracle Portal. Reports can be deployed over the web using standard CGI/Servlet technology. I don't have room to mention all the advantages, but click on this link to our OTN website for a high level overview Reports 6i. http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/pdf/iasreports.pdf
    Other documentation is also available to show you the power of Oracle Reports 6i.

  • Integrating ApEx with Oracle Financials (Apps)

    I've seen a few questions on how to integrate Oracle Financials (Apps) with ApEx applications. Below are some methods that I use. The main issue with these approaches is that your Apex user will get a new session each time. I have an unsupported routine that will allow me to maintain the same session with each return to ApEx from Apps. Scott Spadafore has commented several times on how you might do that. I'm going to leave it to Scott's posts to explain it as I don't want to post unsupported workarounds.
    1. Utilize Oracle SSO for both Apps and ApEx.
    A. Set up both to use SSO
    B. Put the following code in the Auth Scheme Session Verify Function to establish the users' Apps Context.This will allow a user to run Apps APIs as the correct Apps User.
    declare
    l_id number(20);
    begin
    begin
    select user_id into l_id from fnd_user
    where user_name = :APP_USER;
    exception
    when others then
    l_id := -9999;
    return FALSE;
    end;
    fnd_global.APPS_INITIALIZE(
    user_id => l_id,
    resp_id => 10,
    resp_appl_id => 10,
    security_group_id => 0,
    server_id => -1);
    return true;
    end;
    C. Now you can put a link with the Apps to point to an ApEx page, e.g. f?p=123:456::::456:P456_ID:876
    2. Use your own authentication scheme--this will require the user to log in to the ApEx App with their Apps un/pw.
    A. Create a custom Auth Scheme that utilizes page 101 as a login page (session not valid page = 101 )
    B. Follow Step B in (1) above
    C. On Page 101 put in the following validation (note, this will not log the login -- you can use a different api if you want to log it)
    begin
    if fnd_web_sec.validate_login(:P101_USERNAME
    , :P101_PASSWORD) = 'Y' then
    return true;
    else
    return false;
    end if;
    end;
    D. Put the following process in place
    if not HTMLDB_CUSTOM_AUTH.SESSION_ID_EXISTS THEN
    HTMLDB_CUSTOM_AUTH.SET_SESSION_ID_TO_NEXT_VALUE;
    end if;
    declare
    l_flow_page varchar2(10000);
    l_next_session varchar2(10000);
    begin
    l_flow_page := substr(replace(:FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL,'|',':'),5, length(:FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL));
    l_next_session := HTMLDB_CUSTOM_AUTH.GET_NEXT_SESSION_ID;
    l_flow_page := substr(l_flow_page,1,8) || l_next_session || substr(l_flow_page,9,length(l_flow_page));
    HTMLDB_UTIL.RESET_AUTHORIZATIONS;
    htmldb_custom_auth.post_login(
    P_UNAME => :P101_USERNAME,
    -- P_PASSWORD => :P101_PASSWORD,
    -- P_SESSION_ID => :FLOW_SESSION,
    P_SESSION_ID => l_next_session,
    -- P_SESSION_ID => :APP_SESSION, -- ain
    -- P_FLOW_PAGE => :APP_ID||':10'
    -- P_APP_PAGE => l_flow_page ||':',
    P_APP_PAGE => '&APP_ID.:10',
    p_preserve_case => FALSE
    end;

    All of our XML components (with the exception of the XML Parser for PLSQL) work just fine outside the database.
    Download the XSQL Servlet and with an appropriate JDBC connect string in the XSQLConfig.xml file (see the release notes) you and your 7.3.4.5 database should be in business for XML.

  • WCI single sign on(SSO) configurations with Oracle Access Manager(OAM)

    I have to integrate the oracle access manager with the WCI(ALUI) for the SSO implementation.What are the configurations required to implement SSO with oracle access manager in WCI/ALUI

    Any answer to the last question on..?
    No, better explain my query with 2 scenarios:
    Scenario 1:
    Usual scenario authentication of a user to a web application without the single web functionality on the acces single manager:
    Login screen of the web application ====> Access to the web application home
    Scenario 2:
    Scenario authentication of a user to a single web application with web functionality on the acces single manager:
    Login screen oracle access manager ====> Display login web application ====> Access to the web application home
    My query is:
    You can configure the functionality of single sign on to access manager with a web application that does not have its login screen of the web application. For example:
    Login screen oracle access manager ====> Access to the web application home

  • Integrating Forms6i/Report6i with  Oracle Financials Module

    Hi ,
    I need a step by step guide of how I can integrate my custom forms and report into oracle Financials GL/AP.
    I have developed this modules in forms 6i / report6i, but need to call them from Oracle Finacials module(GL/AP), and my report to be included in the standard reports.
    Thanks
    Jonny

    Is Oracle Finacials module or the page where you want to start the integration, an OAF page? Do you have any interaction defined between the seeded and custom modules or you just want to run your module from Apps.

  • Disk array configurations with oracle redo logs and flash recovery area.

    Dear Oracle users,
    We are planning to buy the new server for oracle database 10g standard edition. We put oracle database file, redo logs, and flash recovery area on each of disk array. My question is what is the best disk array configuration for redo logs and flash recovery area? RAID 10 or RAID 1? Is that possible we can duplicate Flash recovery area to the other location (such as net work drive) at the same time? Since we only have single disk array controller to connect to the disk arrays, I am try to avoid the single failure that will lose archive logs and daily backup.
    thanks,
    Belinda

    Thank you so much for the suggestion. Could you please let me know the answer for my question of FRA redundancy?
