OLTP Hardware Sizing Guide / Best Approach / Tools

Hi,
Is there a document (or any kind of information) that describes how to determine/specify CPU/Memory/Storage IOPS (HBA speed) etc.. for Oracle OLTP DB for CRM.
BR,
Alen Ruvic

I have a script that among all other things does
dtexec.exe package_name /Validate
Other than that, there is a grater danger down the road from schema changes.

  • What is the best approach/tools/methodolgy to validate data in SSIS

    Hi,
I have implemented ETL packages for more than 200 tables . I logged the row count as a first step for testing. Now i would like to implement automation/validate data using test cases.
Being a single resource to do all this process is little difficult for the give time frame:(
Could you please guide me for effective testing scenarios(automation technique) with optimum effort?

  • Hardware Sizing for EBP, MDM Catalog

    Hi,
This is for an SRM implementation project in extended classic scenario. The plan is to use all 3 components EBP, MDM Catalogs and SUS.
We are sizing hardware for a mid size company with around 10,000 employee base and USD 350 million of spend to be processed. With not more than 50.000 (X) Purchase orders annually, and therefor assumed Goods confirmation document and invoices to be 100.000 (2X).
We are using Quicksizer tool for sizing. Here are some of the areas which we need to validate-
    1. Is there a benchmark or a recommended or empirical percentage (%) of total employee strength that will be concurrent users.
    2. What can be the SAPS number range for EBP for a typical mid size company as described above. Any experience with respect to this would be helpful.
    3. Quicksizer doesnt suppoer MDM catalog sizing. Any inputs on the same would be useful.
    4. We are using EBP sizing template in quicksizer for SUS sizing with object data with respect to SUS. Is this the right approach.
Thanks for the assistance in advance.

  • XI Sizing Guide scenarios

    Hi,
I need to baseline our hardware using the scenarios described in the XI Sizing Guide before testing the performance of our own integration scenarios.
Would you know where are available the design packages of the integrations used for the XI Sizing Guide?
    Thanks for your help,
    Adalbert

    Thanks Prabhu,
Indeed this can be another approach.
Mine was to baseline our dev box with a scenario referenced in the XI Sizing Guide, and then measure the performance with our own scenario and deduce the required number of SAPS for our scenarios to obtain a given range of results.
I believe the use of the XI Quick Sizer is better as it can handle complex scenarios.
I would have 2 questions concerning The Quick Sizer:
    -     how to indicate the <b>Lookups (using the XI Lookup API) overhead</b> we implemented in the mappings
    -     how to indicate a <b>self developed JCA adapter</b> in the adapter fields (outbound or inbound): XI J2EE or Thirdparty? what is the impact?
    -     What means “Acknowledgments: additional Acknowledgment” fields? in addition to standard iDoc ack?
    Thanks for your help

  • Business Objects XI Release 3.0/3.1 Enterprise Sizing Guide

Is there a Business Objects XI Release 3.0/3.1 Enterprise Sizing Guide available yet...?
We are trying to plan our hardware budget for next year.
I have reviewed both the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 Deployment Planning Guide, and the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.0 Deployment Planning Guide - but neither one gives you the actual counts of concurrent and simultaneous connections supported per CPU/Service in 3.0/3.1.
Edited by: Mark Richardson on Sep 16, 2008 4:49 PM

    Hello,
In the deployement document for XI 3.O : "xi3_bip_deploy_plan_en.pdf",
Page 81, one reads : "It is also recommended that you contact your Business Objects sales
representative and request information about the BusinessObjects Enterprise
Sizing Guide. A Business Objects Services consultant can assess your
reporting environment and assist in determining the configuration to best
    integrate with your current environment."
Therefore, such a document should exist.
Any news since the last post?
    Thx in advance

  • R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 Upgrade - Best Approach?

    Hi,
We have to upgrade R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0
We have to do th DB, Unicode and R/3 upgrade. I want to know what are the best approaches available and what risks are associated iwth each approach.
We have been considering the following approaches (but need to understand the risk for each approach).
    1) DB and Unicode in 1st and then R/3 upgrade after 2-3 months
I want to understand that if we have about 700 Include Program changing as part of unicode conversion, how much of the functional testing is required fore this.
    2) DB in 1st step and then Unicode and R/3 together after 2-3 months
Does it makes sense to combine Unicode and R/3 as both require similar testing? Is it possible to do it in 1 weekend with minimum downtime. We have about 2 tera bytes of data and will be using 2 systems fdor import and export during unicode conversion
    3) DB and R/3 in 1st step and then Unicode much later
We had discussion with SAP and they say there is a disclaimer on not doing Unicode. But I also understand that this disclaimer does not apply if we are on single code page. Can someone please let us know if this is correct and also if doing Unicode later will have any key challenges apart from certain language character not being available.
We are on single code pages 1100 and data base size is about 2 tera bytes
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul
regarding your 'Unicode doubt"' some ideas:
    1) The Upgrade Master Guide SAP ERP 6.0 and the Master Guide SAP ERP 6.0 include introductory information. Among other, these guides reference the SAP Service Marketplace-location http://service.sap.com/unicode@sap.
    2) In Unicode@SAP can you find several (content-mighty) FAQs
Conclusion from the FAQ: First of all your strategy needs to follow your busienss model (which we can not see from here):
Example. The "Upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005"-FAQ includes interesting remarks in section "DO CUSTOMERS NEED TO CONVERT TO A UNICODE-COMPLIANT ENVIRONMENT?"
"...The Unicode conversion depends on the customer situation....
... - If your organization runs a single code page system prior to the upgrade to mySAP ERP 2005, then the use of Unicode is not mandatory. ..... However, using Unicode is recommended if the system is deployed globally to facilitate interfaces and connections.
    - If your organization uses Multiple Display Multiple Processing (MDMP) .... the use of Unicode is mandatory for the mySAP ERP 2005 upgrade....."
In the Technical Unicode FAQ you read under "What are the advantages of Unicode ...", that "Proper usage of JAVA is only possible with Unicode systems (for example, ESS/MSS or interfaces to Enterprise Portal). ....
=> Depending on the fact if your systems support global processes, or depending on your use of Java Applications, your strategy might need to look different
    3) In particular in view of your 3rd option, I recommend you to take a look into these FAQs, if not already done.
Remark: mySAP ERP 2005 is the former name of the application, which is named SAP ERP 6.0, now
    regards, and HTH, Andreas R

  • Best approach to "migrate" from BEX reports to Webi reports ?

    Hello,
i have read lots of documents regarding best practices on how to built webi reports and universes on top of BW.
But i can't find any document about best approach, not in performance way of thinking but in best way of using reports.
i mean: when end users are coming from bex reports (where they can drill down through hierarhies and use free filters ) to webi reports (where layout is quite beatiful and user can change it easely), this is not the same way of consuming reports.
I come from BO world and are new on reporting on top of BW.
for me webi is good for quite static layout reporting where data is clear and available.of course you can have prompts for interactivy and more accurate reporting.  Drill down is just a functionality but is not the real purpose of the report tool.
So ,according to me there is a gap between both tools (BEX and WEBI) but end users are the same.
So i 'm wondering if you have any feedback for the best approach to build webi reports where end users are coming from bex reporting.
And how to choose between prompts, drill-down (with available filters on top of the window), fold/unfold and input controls or just having diffrent levels of hierarchies in the table/ section/ breaks but without drill down (because if you drill down, report begins weird with diffrent levels) ...?
So , if you have any feedback , advise....
    thanks in advance,
    Rgds,

WEBI don't replace BEX reports, is for different audience, in fact BEX is for OLAP reports and analysis.

  • Best approach -To create RTF template having more than 50 tables.

    Hi All,
Need your help.I am new to BI publisher. Currently we are using BIP 11g.
I want to develop.rtf template having lots of layout and images.
Data is coming from different tables (example : pulling from around 40 tables). When i tried to pull data from 5 tables by joining tables. It takes more time using data model in BI publisher 11g saved in xml and used in word doc.
Could you please suggest best approach  weather i need to develop .rtf template via data model or query to generate a report.
Also please suggest / guide me .
    Regards & Thanks in advance.

    it's very specific requirements
first of all it's relate to logic behind
as example 50 tables are related ? or 50 independent tables ? or may be 5 related and another independent ?
based on relation of tables you create sql statement(s)
how many sql statement(s) you'll have lead to identify ways to get data, as example, by package or trigger etc
kim size of resulting select statement(s)
if size say 1mb it's must be fast to get report but for 1000mb it can consume many time
also kim what time it's not only to select data but to merge data and template
looks like experimenting and knowing full logic of report is only ways to get needed output in projection of data and time

  • Work Manager 6.1 Sizing Guide Query

    Hi,
Looking at the official Work Manager 6.1 sizing guide and comparing it to the Work Manager 6.0 guide and it seems there has been a large jump in the suggested hardware for SMP.
I understand the WM6.0 runs on SMP 2.3 and WM6.1 is on SMP 3.0, but I'm surprised that the difference seems so large.
    E.g. For a medium landscape with 1000 syncs/hour:
    Work Manager / SMP
    SMP SAPS (suggested)
    Work Manager 6.0
    2,000
    Work Manager 6.1
    55,500
Could someone clarify why this would be?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

The Sizing Document has been updated for the SMP Server and appear to be much more reasonable.
The SAP ABAP & DB Server recommondations are still the same and don't seem right.
    E.g
    Large Data Volume & 2000 syncs/hr
SAP DB Server -  393,500 SAPS
SAP ABAP Server - 127,500 SAPS
From the Sizing benchmarks an IBM Server with 271,080 SAPS has 8 Processors / 120 Cores / 1TB of RAM
    Cheers,
    Stephen

  • Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA 10g hardware sizing

    Hi All,
To give you the background, we have integration requirements where in one of the interface about 20000 sales orders come in the system everyday and they have about 3-5 lines per sales order. Most of these orders come between 3-6 PM. We have 50 other interfaces along with this but this is a major one. Client is concerned about performance and so we have to give right design and right hardware sizing so that the system is able to handle all the load without causing performance issues. We are planing to use Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 (10g)
Any processes, documentation on how to go about hardware sizing, tools will be helpful
    Thanks,
    Rahul

  • What's the best approach to resetting Calendar data on Server?

I have a database format error in a calendar that I only noticed after the migration to Server on Yosemite.  I'll paste a snippet from the Error Log in at the bottom that shows the error - I've highlighted the description of the problem in red.
I found a pretty cool writeup from Linc in a different thread, but it's aimed at fixing a similar problem for a local user on their own machine rather that an iCal server like what we're running.  Here's the link to that thread: Re: Calendar crashes on open  For example, does something like Calendar Cleaner work on our server database as well?
In my case I think I'd basically like to gracefully remove all the Calendar databases from Server and start fresh (all the users' calendars are backed up on their local machines, so they can just import them into fresh/empty calendars once I've cleaned out the old stuff).  Any thoughts on "best approach" would be much appreciated.

<facepalm>  Well, there you go.  It turns out I was over-thinking this.  The Calendar app on a Mac can manage this database just fine.  Sorry about that.  There may be an easier way to do this, but here's how I did it.
Use the Calendar.app on a local computer to:
    - Export the corrupted calendar to an ICS file on the local computer (Calendar -> File -> Export -> Export)
    - Create a new local calendar (Calendar -> File -> New Calendar -> On My Mac)
    - Import the corrupted calendar into the new/empty local calendar (Calendar -> File -> Import...)
    - Delete years and years of old events, including the one that was triggering that error message
    - Export the (now much smaller) local calendar to another ICS file on my computer (Calendar -> File -> Export -> Export)
    - Create a new calendar on the server (Calendar -> File -> New Calendar -> in the offending server-based iCal account)
    - Import the edited/fixed/smaller/no-longer-corrupted calendar into the new/empty server calendar (Calendar -> File -> Import...)
    - Make the newly-created iCal calendar the primary calendar (drag it to the top of the list of calendars on the server)
    - Delete the old/corrupted calendar (right-clicking on the bad calendar in the calendar list - you can only delete it once it's NOT the primary calendar any more)

  • Best Approach for Reporting on SAP HANA Views

    Hi,
Kindly provide information w.r.t the best approach for the reporting on HANA views for the architecture displayed below:
We are on a lookout for information mainly around the following points:
There are two reporting options which are known to us and listed below namely:
Reporting on HANA views through SAP BW  (View > VirtualProvider > BEx > BI 4.1)
Reporting on HANA views in ECC using BI 4.1 tools
Which is the best option for reporting (please provide supportive reasons : as in advantages and limitations)?
In case a better approach exists, please let us know of the same.
Best approach for reporting option on a mixed scenario wherein data of BW and HANA views is to be utilized together.

    Hi Alston,
To be honest I did not understand the architecture that you have figured out in your message.
Do you have HANA instance as far as I understood and one ERP and BW is running on HANA. Or there might be 2 HANA instance and ERP and BW are running independently.
Anyway If you have HANA you have many options to present data by using analytic views. Also you have BW on HANA as EDW. So for both you can use BO and Lumira as well for presenting data.
Check this document as well: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-34403

A personal observation; In PI 1.1, with the small ova we were running around 300 AP's and I had noticable slowness and issues.  At that time, TAC mentioned that I should go with the medium as it was a known problem  Now, despite being on 1.2 and alot of the issues resolved (and now new ones), if faced with the need to start over and I could spare the hardware, I would still go with the medium.   My personal opinion is that Cisco VM's require way to much.  On the other hand, knowing that it's relying on a built in Oracle DB, which from my experience with virtual servers, databases in VM = bad, it's understandable.  Not everyone agrees with this point from vm gurus to db geniuses, and I'm not a professional vm guy, just play one on tv, but personally i shove as much hardware as I can afford from my host at it if it's a db in a vm.  This comes from being in an enterprise with multiple oracle db's in multiple vm environments.  My 2cents.

  • Best approach with jsp

    hi,
i have a scenario that's sending data from jsp.
i have two options, soap and client java proxy.
what is best approach for this?,  becasue jsp is calling java which contains coding to call webservice,  so this is similar with client java proxy.
if you are me,  what is the best?  soap or cleint java proxy?  eventually, soap also proxy.
please guide me what is big point?  i do not want to get you with basically different point that i know that client java proxy is ejb. soap is wsdl...

    Hi,
As you already have a J2EE application ( a JSP ), i would suggest that you use Java Proxies for the same to integrate with XI. Proxies allow you to have a better perfromance and so, I would suggest to go with Java Proxies.
For Java proxies this how to guide would help,

  • Best approach to read IDOC flatfiles using XI in mass number

    Hi,
We have a requirement like, we will be provided with IDOC PO flatfile structures(Exactly same as IDOC,but in flatfile format) .
We have to read those flafiles and create POs in our SAP system.
please note there is no sender system, will be provided with IDOC structured flatfiles and receiving system is SAP,so I can use IDOC adapter on the recv side.We can use file adapter with FCC ,but as file adapter cannot support multiple heirarchies,I cannot go for sender File Adapter to read those files.
so what is the best approach to do this interface using XI?
    thank you in advance.
    ..Sri

    Hi
You could refer the below link for reference
If you need XI to convert IDOC XML format to IDOC Flat format, refer to:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/xi/xi-how-to-guides/how%20to%20convert%20between%20idoc%20and%20xml%20in%20xi%203.0.pdf
    https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700001795162005E/HowToIDocXMLToFlat.pdf
(Section 3.2 of the how to guide mentions how to "Convert a flat file representation of an IDoc to IDoc-XML" !!!)
Converting Idoc flat file representation to XML
Otherwise creating a flat file from the IDOC XML using the file-content conversion will be very cumbersome.
If you need the file in the idoc structure itself, I would suggest to create the file in R/3 and poll the file from XI.
Probably above links could give you some hitch on it
    Thanks
