Olympus Digital Camera with HP 950PSC printer

Hi there.. i have a IMac G4 flat panel, the pod design.
I just bought a Olympus Camedia X-550 Digital camera... I have a HP 3-in-one printer, scanner, copier, fax. It is model PSC 950.
I know that the Olympus takes a xD memory card. Can those be used for the HP PSC 950? If not.. is there some adaptor i can use.
I don't have the printer hooked up with the computer yet.. as i don't have room for everything on my computer table.
Of course I'd like to download picture onto my computer too.. but don't want them to hog all my memory.. or worse lose them altogether should the computer crash... Wouldn't it be wise to put these photos onto CD disc and can these be the same type of CD disc that i use to burn my music CD's?
thanks for your time

When you print, there is a setup dialogue. Select "Page Setup" then your printer should show up in the drop-down box, click "Properties" you should see three tabs. click on advanced and uncheck the box for automatic enhancement. Keep pluggin' away, we'll find something eventually.

i have Quik Time 4 as part of Olympus Digital Camera(Camedia)software and it will not work it this XP computer.( itused to)

You need to purchase mac os 10.6 or later, assuming your computer is comptible, and install it.
I believe the requirements are printed on the box the iphone came in and the website:
Apple ID (required for some features)
    Internet access5
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)

  • How do I prevent automatic caption of OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA?

The caption field of Metadata automatically fills with OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA.  How can I prevent this?  How can I get rid of this on my 3000 pictures of Turkey without manually deleting each caption?  I am new to Lightroom, and have version 4.1.  I use an iMAC, OSX10.6.8.  Thanks.

Some camera manufacturers do write the camera type in the caption :
See this note by John R Ellis in his faqs for Elements:
"Some camera manufacturers insert the name of the camera in the caption field of a photo’s metadata, and when you import the photo into PSE, it shows up as a caption.  To stop this from happening, uncheck the option Edit > Preferences > Files > Import EXIF Caption.  To remove the caption from photos that have already been imported:
Do Find > By Caption Or Note and type in the name of the camera.
    Edit > Select All.
Right-click one of the photos and select Add Caption To Selected Items.
Leave the caption field blank, check Replace Existing Captions, and click OK."
There must be an equivalent solution in LR ?

  • Digital camera with iChat

I have a digital camera with a usb connection. Can I use that for a video chat? I'm using chat 3.1.9
    Thanks, Michael

    Hi,
Most likely the answer is No.
I have a Kodak DC4800 It connects to iPhoto over USB.
It can not be seen as a Live Camera over this route.
It does in fact have a very small single channel socket (Smaller than a 3.5mm jack) that has a RCA connector on the other end.
This can be used to Display pics on a TV Screen (There is a Menu item in the Set up for PAL or NTSC) which can be handy to take Indoor pics if you can not see the display properly. If you have a VCR Recorder you can record video that way.
I used it to go through a DV converter.
This was used to convert an Analogue CamCorder but I tried it with the camera.
If the Video can be seen over USB in say iMovie (It can see many more Video codecs than iChat or Photo Booth) or Quicktime Player (if you have the Pro capabilities to Record) then it will be a question of an Utility for iChat. (http://www.ecamm.com/mac/iusbcam/) This can change the codecs of some USB cameras that have drivers and can be "Seen" in various other apps. (Essentially it converts it to DV format).
If the USB feed can not be seen in any App you would need a Mac Driver for it much like you would for a WebCam.
There are Third party Drivers fro many web cams as well as some cameras coming with drivers on the Install Disk or downloadable from the Manufacturer's Web Site.
However these tend not to exist for Stills cameras, nor do the third Party ones work.

  • Digital Camera with Video Capability

Being the father of newborn twins, I've agonized over the pros and cons of having either a digital video camera that can take skills, or quality digital camera with video capability.  What digital cameras offer the best video options?

    TheLexMachine wrote:
If you can afford it, get a camcorder that takes stills. The quality is on par with a point and shoot camera and you get better video than you'd get out of a digital still camera that takes video.
Camcorders take terrible stills.  I have tried all of the top-of-the-lines camcorders from Panasonic, Canon and Sony and none of them takes even a halkfway decent still.  A P&S will still take far superior photos to any camcorder.
    Rrrrrrr wrote:
Taking photos or taking videos. I'd go for the one you think you'd do more of.
    I would agree with that.
If you can afford both, get both.  If you can't, then check out the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3.  It takes good stills and pretty good 720p video for about $240.  If you want a very good camera that takes better 1080p video than most (all?) consumer camcorders, then check the Panasonic DMC-GH1K, which goes for over $1000.  It is a DSLR so its stil capabilities will be well beyond any of the other cameras I mentioned.  If you decide to purchase 2 seperate pieces of equipment, then you could also check out the Fujifilm FinePix F70EXR for stills(about $200) and the Sony Handycam HDR-CX500V for video (about $750) or the Panasonic HDC-HS250 ($600).  I would avoid the Canon camcorders right now unless you can afford the S-series cams, as the lower models don't provide very good indoor video for the money.

  • Best Nikon/Sony/Canon Digital Camera with Movie Mode

I'm a senior in high school and I'm interested in film and photography; I lik to record EVERYTHING and take a LOTS of pictures. So I'd like a camera that performs fairly well using both picture and video mode.
And because I'm a senior my budget is about $400. So any tips or suggestions would help a lot.
    Thanks so much,
    Jasmine

    Hi jasmine,
I have to start by saying that for $400 you are restricted to point-and-shoot cameras, and although you should be able to get a very nice point-and-shoot camera for still photography in this price range the video capability of the camera will be limited.
I would suggest getting point-and-shoot camera for your still images, and a camcorder for your videos. You should be able to get both for around $400. I would say budget $200 for the still camera, and $200 for a camcorder. To see the digital cameras we sell for $200 or less you could look here, and to see the camcorders we sell for $200 or less you could look here.
    I hope this helps!

  • Using digital camera with ibook

i have a nikon coolpix 5600 and i cant get it to come up onthe desktop.
my computer recognizes it, when i plug it into the computer (via usb) it automatically opens iphoto to upload the pictures, but it doesnt come up on the desktop or anything. i want it to so that i could upload movies from the camera.
are there any preferences that i'm supposed to set? or is this just going to always be like this and i not be able to use the movie function.
the camera came with a program (picture project) and that used to upload/organize the photos and videos, but it ran very slow and would crash all ther time, so i stopped using and uninstalled it in favor of iphoto.
    any advice?

Which version of iPhoto do you have? Version 5 should import movies as well as pictures. You can also use the Image Capture application (in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder) to download the movies and pictures individually.

  • Using a digital camera with iPhoto 5

I have a nice Kodak camera that is 3.1 MP. It seems like I can only connect my camera to my computer via iPhoto or Kodak's software. I cannot browse the SD card from the computer directly.
Is there some way with iPhoto to browse the cameras images and videos, or do I always have to import the images and videos?
    John

    Hi John
you can browse the images and video with the image capture application. connect and turn on the camera before launching the application. you can then choose which to import. one other thing, does your camera show up as a removable drive? if it does, open it up as you would a folder.

  • New user of G4 - need advice on selection of printer, DV and digital camera

I am a recent convert to mac and need advice from experts on the following:
I plan to use my G4 MDD primarily for home computing, experimenting with digital photography, create DVDs and explore multimedia primarily as a hobby. Please advice me on selection of a decent digital camera and or a DV camera. I am not sure if I have a decent DV camera - whether this will be good enough for still photos as well. My G4 has firewire ports.
Also I am interested in buying a printer that I can use with my mac as well as connect to a two other windows systems. My printing needs are primarily documents and maybe photos.. I think that going in for a laser printer makes sense in terms of reliability .
I am not looking for the highend equipment - willing to spend upto 750 $ on all items. Thanks in advance.

    raja,
    welcome to discussions.
Digital Camera, DV camera and colour Laser Printer all for $750 ??
I'm afraid you'll have to go for an inkjet printer if you want colour photos. Expensive doesn't even begin to describe Colour Laser Printers. HP make good printers, but tend to be a bit more expensive to run, Epson make excellent photo printers, are are a bit more economical to run, take a look at the iP4000 and iP5000. I still use my old HP DeskJet 1200 (does A3), and a DeskJet 970Cxi (everyday), both use the same cartidges. These are about 7 years old, there are modern versions retailing now at about half of what I paid for these then(always the case).
Digital cameras can be decided by what purpose you intend to use them for. I have an 18 month old Nikon D100 digital SLR. 6M pixel (which was a lot then) but that might not matter, it takes Nikon lenses (and other manufacturer lenses to the same spec), so I can shoot with a 300mm, 400mm, 600mm lens. Nikon has a D50 out now, a cheaper, newer version of my camera. I can print A3 photo real from 6M pixels and with the right lens I don't need to crop my pictures too much. If you want to print photo real A4 (and that's a LOT of ink) a 3-4M pixel camera would be fine. Most cameras now are 5-8 M pixel, this is because the pictures they take have to be cropped drastically because they have an inadequate lens. On top of that my Nikon takes really great pictures, better than any of my other digi cameras (but not as good as my ancient Olympus 35mm muji-zoom compact with 200 film).
So if you're going to take a lot of close ups in well lit areas, product shots, interior shots with flash, ie. "snaps" rather than photography, any cheap digi camera will do. Good points are
    - USB / Firewire connectivity,
    - non-proprietry battery technology, ie. it uses 4 x recharable AAs instead of a battery that only fits that camera, and it comes with a AA recharger.
    - non-proprietry storage technology, ie. it uses Compact Flash or some other that is used by a large portion of cameras, rather than just be that manufacturer.
    - digital zoom is worthless.
If you're doing outdoor photography, wildlife, landscapes, etc, you may want something with a changeable lens and SLR technology, a digital SLR. Not all digital SLR cameras have changeable lenses. Same good points as above, but be prepared to sacrifice one of the points for a good camera. Heavy cameras are easier to hold steady with a big lens, so try for a metal case (it'll be coated in plastic anyway).
For outdoors the most important thing is the amount of light entering the camera (indoors you can control the lighting with flash / fitted lighting), digital SLRs can have enormous lenses (my 28mm hyperzoom lens has a 72mm diameter), compare this to a compact digital camera with a 12mm diameter lens, I take 36x the light of a compact. And it shows in the picture quality.
I'm a complete duffer with DV cameras so I won't lead you astray with this, but be aware some do offer the option to take digital pictures. Indeed some digital cameras can take low quality short movies.
Let us know if you have any more questions.

  • Canon digital camera integration with Labview

    thanks and regards,

    hi there,
there's a function SetOutputPath(path) where you can specify the path where the driver of the camera saves the pictures. for more information see the SDK docs. after the pictures have been saved to disk you can read the files with the LV-VIs from the "Graphics & Sound" palette. there are some examples shipped with LV of how to read image files.

  • Does "RAW files from Canon digital cameras cannot be downloaded" MATTER??

Need to buy new camera to use with my G5 and iPHoto 5. I desire (1) affordability, (2) more optical zoom than what I've had in past (want to move from 4x to 6x), and (3) compatible with my G5.
I've had 2 canon powershost (my last, the 570, but a kid dropped it). Easy to use. So maybe simliar, or something nicer.
Been studying the Canon web site about their various cameras. For the above reasons I like thePowerShot SX100 IS, about $240. 6x optical zoom.
HOWEVER, in the MAC OSX compatibility section at Canon it has this quote:
    * Mac OS X 10.1 and newer come with Image Capture drivers that support most of Canon's digital cameras with USB interfaces. When a compatible camera is connected to a compatible Mac computer running OS X 10.1 and newer, the computer detects the camera and automatically launches Image Capture. This Apple program allows JPEG images in the camera to be downloaded to the Macintosh. NOTE: RAW files from Canon digital cameras cannot be downloaded in OS X via Image Capture. We suggest the use of File Viewer Utility or an external card reader. Also, movie files shot with PowerShot cameras cannot be downloaded in OS X via Image Capture or iPhoto. We suggest the use of ImageBrowser or an external card reader.
Additionally, Image Capture can access JPEG images directly from a CompactFlash card using an OS X-compatible card reader or using a PC Card Adapter in the PC Card slot of an Apple PowerBook.**
This line caught me confused: *RAW files from Canon digital cameras cannot be downloaded*
In the past, I just plugged in the Canon Camera, and iPhoto 5 opened, and I h appily downloaded the picts and off and away I was.
Will this still happen??? And if I'm not getting the "RAW" picts (whatever that is), but just the JPEGS I'm used to, am I not getting "all" the picts, or the best that my camera could be given me for eventually printing?
    Am I worrying about nothing?
Finally, any camera suggestions? Under $300 , super picts, 5-10x zoom, and friendly with my Mac
    Thanks
    JON

    Jon
You know, because you ask the question, I'll guess that it won't really matter to you...
Every camera shoots RAW - that's the total information that the sensor on the camera sees, but mid- and lower end cameras process this RAW data into an easy to use format such as jpegs.
Many (but not all) Pros demand that the camera provide all the data to the computer, so that the photographer can process the images him/her self. For most casual and family users this is not an issue. For the serious hobbyist and the Pro it might well be.
For more on Raw have a look at this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rawimageformat
Btw, later versions of iPhoto do work with Some Raw formats.
    As to cameras:
I used a Canon S2 IS for a couple of years and found it really good. There's and S3 and an S5 now too. Currently I'm using a Panasonic FZ8. I really like it.

  • All of my iTunes music/apps have been deleted, and my iPod is being recognized as a digital camera by the computer. Help?

    Hi!
I went on my iTunes today, and it kept saying "
The itunes library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" I restarted my computer and opened iTunes, only to find that all of my apps and songs have been deleted. When I plug in my iPod, it says that this iPod is registered with another computer. My computer, however, is recognizing my iPod as a digital camera, with the name of my father's iPod. I have no idea how to fix this and get all of my songs/apps back. Someone please help!

Check your iTunes version - although your 5th gen works with older iTunes versions, at least 7.4 is required for the IPT - older versions will not even recognize it.
As for the Apple site not working, there have been sporadic reports of that, no known reason, usually resolved in a few hours.
You could also try updating using Apple Software Update (usually found in Start > All Programs), or from within iTunes (Help menu > Check for Updates).
    Hope this helps...
