Olympus E-3 not supported in Leopard 10.5.2!

This is unbelievable! Am I missing something? Is there a way to read E-3 Raw files? If not, that is it for Aperture and maybe Apple itself. I definitely will replace Aperture and may migrate to Windows software so I can ditch Apple altogether when it is time to replace my computer. Many a company whose business was booming has subsequently failed, due to letting quality and customer service slide. Apple appears to be doing precisely thia with the delays in updating Aperture and the premature release of Leopard. Also, their unwillingness to tell customers when they can expect an update is unforgivable.
Is there a way to process E-3 Raw files - am I missing something?

DNG is a great step forward I agree, but it's an added step. Keep in mind there have been problems in the past with E-1 files and DNG conversion adding black lines around things shot against white bg for example and while DNG is a great Idea, it's not supporting the actual RAW files.
I don't think this is about customer relations to me anyways it's about a competitive professional editing product. In every way I love aperture over others. [Capture One Pro being a close second] Thats why it burns so much that there is no E-3 support.
Castro steps down, Blue-Ray wins the format war what a week! Back to playing with Aperture 2. I know Apple devs check out the forums so please do another graphics support update for cameras not yet supported like the E-3. I'll play with Capture One Pro demo and compare the output vs. DNG aperture and then make a call, but even so tethered shooting is out then and it's an extra step every import with Aperture.
Thanks,
-Jonathan

  • Olympus E-420 not supported?

I have an Olympus E-420 DSLR and use Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 (with Bridge) on Windows Vista Home 32-bit. I recently updated the Camera Raw to version 4.4.1 to see if that could solve the problem with opening my camera's RAW images (.orf), but that didn't work (I have confirmed a proper installation). Neither does the latest version of the DNG Converter, so I'm guessing Olympus E420 isn't supported yet, am I right?
Anyone knows when it will? Or of any other way I can open the RAW images? (I'm attempting to merge them into HDR)
    Thanks in advance /John

It will probably be supported as soon as the development team can acquire some raw files they can use to create a profile. Nobody here will ever know when that will happen. I cannot speak for Thomas, but he has sometimes asked people to send him a raw file for a new camera. I am not suggesting that you do that. It just takes time to provide support for new cameras. In the meantime, just enjoy shooting JPEG images. Remember, you can edit those JPEG images in ACR 4.4.1.

  • Palm 755p not supported in Leopard?

I have been syncing my Palm 755p in Tiger using Missing Sync for some time. Then I upgraded to Leopard... Missing Sync didn't hold a connection, and the 6.0 version seems to have it's own problems, so I decided to try iSync.
The problem is that iSync won't even recognize the phone! When I try to add the device it says, "This device is not supported by iSync". But I see that others are using it with iSync in this forum. Any idea what's happening here?
    I'm on a MacBook, with a 10.5.1
    Brad

i had the same issue. I just did not use isync. Only certain devices are supported by isync. i have a 755p Palm. The Palm Treo 755p is not supported on the palm Tungsten and Zire families. The Pocket PC is also not supported see http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/.
You must purchase third party software from http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php from mark sync for $39.95. Then your palm Treo 755p can sync with ical and mac address book. Then you can publish your ical and address book to .mac (dotmac).
First, I installed the version of Palm that came on the CD with my phone. Then, I installed the latest version of the Palm v 4.2.1 Rev D from the website at http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html#sysreq. Then I did a hot sync to secure my information. Then I purchased and installed the missing palm sync from mark space. Then I hot synced again. I followed the instructions of letting the mac overwrite the handheld for the first sync. So after the sync i had to export my calendar and contacts from palm then import into ical and address book. Then I synced again.
Afterwards, I published to my .mac and selected update automatically. No problems ever since.
PS. I am running Leopard 10.5.1 on the new 24" imac.

  • V3xx calendar sync not supported in Leopard

With Tiger, I had found a sync plugin that worked for the Motorola V3xx with the exception that calendar synchronization worked only for copying items from the phone to iCal, but not from iCal to the phone. I was looking forward to full functionality. The phone is listed on Apple's list of supported devices for Leopard. I have just installed Leopard and was looking forward to syncing my phone, a Motorola V3xx.
During the setup, iSync reported that: "This phone does not support calendar synchronization."
    Very disappointing.

    Hey all,
So I just spent 100 minutes and 45 seconds on the phone with various Apple support agents and have come to the following two conclusions:
Apple’s support far surpasses most other companies I’ve dealt with. All the agents were friendly, helpful (as much as possible), and willing to get me to someone who could help (usually I have to argue to get to an engineer)...
The inclusion of the Motorola V3xx on http://www.apple.com/isync was a complete mistake.
It seems as though this phone is still being tested by Apple for inclusion later (Please, Jobs, make them do it soon). Also, there are apparently users within Apple who monitor these forums, so if any of them read this, GET YOUR A$$ IN GEAR!!!
Overall, my experience trying to sync has been this: bluetooth was faulty (probably a bad USB BT adaptor) but once used the USB connection to my phone, iSync adequately synced with my contacts ONLY. Even though the site says it can do both contacts and calendars, it will ONLY do contacts. You MAY need to download a plugin from http://www.clockslew.com/forum and install it by clicking on iSync once in the finder (highlighting it) and typing Cmd-I (for info) or go to the menu and click Get Info. Scroll all the way down and you can find the plugin section. You MUST add it this way or iSync will not run.
In the end, I’m ****** that Apple didn’t follow through on it’s “promise” of support (via the device list site), but I’m glad support was so kind and helpful. I just hope someone who can pass this problem on to the iSync engineers will find this.

  • APPLE DVD PLAYER 5.0 HD PLAYBACK NOT SUPPORTED IN LEOPARD!

Using TIGER I have been able to play the HDDVD containing the HVDVD_TS folders created with DVD Studio PRO 4, using the Apple DVD player, either from the hard drive (Open DVD Media) or from a DVD recorded by DVDSP4.
I am very dissapointed with LEOPARD because the HD feature of the Apple DVD player is not supported and missing from the preferences of the player.
What is the problem?. Is Apple turning its back on its HD customers?. I thought by now, we would not only be able to play our home made HD DVD's, but also the commercial discs with the new player and operating system. Apple has always been at the forefront of home video editing. I want to be able to preserve my HD footage as HD on optical media to play on all HD players. It is embarrassing that Windows already has software to record and play HD and Blu-ray commercial discs, but Apple does NOT!!
I tried using the older Tiger DVD player (version 4.6.5) with Leopard, but the HD support is still missing.
PLEASE HELP ME RESTORE THIS FEATURE TO THE APPLE DVD PLAYER WHICH IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT OR MY HOME VIDEO EDITING AND BURNING!!!

The HD tab in my player preferences dissappeared when I upgraded to Leopard. The supported features under the HELP menu of the new DVD player displays "HD UNSUPPORTED". This changed when I upgraded to Leopard. I am still running Tiger on my wife's Imac Intel and the HD is supported. I copied the OLD DVD player from her computer unto my hard drive and the HD tab is missing and HD is unsupported. I am assuming it is a problem in Leopard in my iMac G5. I know that HD is supported on the iMac G5's as stated in the help MENU, and I had been using it all along. I don't know where to go for help on this. Can you guide me?
    Thanks

  • Raw Format from Olympus E-10 not support

Does anyone know how to import this raw format (Olympus E-10) into iphoto. The apple web site says it is compatibly but iphoto says it is not. Thanks for any help.

    mitch:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. This page will tell you if your camera is supported: Digital camera RAW formats supported by Mac OS X 10.5.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Airport Express not Supported by Leopard?

Total newbie, just tried to set up airport express hub, installer says the version of Mac OS X (Leopard) on my machine isn't supported and thus airport can't be installed. Any advice?

Hello JPunk. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Sounds like you tried to install the software that came on the CD with your AirPort Express Base Station (AX). Fortunately, it's not needed (nor will it work under Leopard). You will find the updated AirPort Utility in your /Applications/Utilities folder on your Mac.

  • Running older games on OS X when classic is not supported

Could someone please advise me as how to run an old game (master of orion 2) on OS 10.5? When I try to run it, it states that classic environment is not supported. I don't understand why latest versions of mac OS would not be capable of running older games, which are apparently only runnable in an older frame. Is there a patch that can be installed to support classic environment programs, or is the only solution downgrading operating systems? This seems way more complicated than it should be, especially for a very simple game to run as far as graphics and cpu, etc.
    Please help! Thank you.

ebk0 , welcome to Apple Discussions.
Classic is not supported using Leopard, Snow Leopard or Intel Macs. Some users do use Sheep Shaver, with varying degrees of success. Many games do not work properly in classic mode, because some games use OS 9 to control the Mac hardware. They require the Mac to be booted in OS 9 (or below). Your best solution is to buy a used Mac capable of running OS 9.

  • AS I  FOUND OUT LATE, LION DOES NOT SUPPORT ROSETTA, WHICH SUPPORTS QUICKEN AND CLASSIC AOL, AND MANY OTHER APPS. CAN I TAKE LION AWAY AND GO BACK TO SNOW LEOPARD?

I found out after the install of LION, that it does not support Rosetta, which runs Quicken and the classic AOL software and a myriad of other apps.
Can I go back to Snow Leopard? Is there a way to retrieve my thousands of saved E mails, which are saved on my Mac?
I still see the filing cabinet with my screen name but cannot get them to open.
Please help! Lion may roar, but the fact it does not support apps like quicken means it purrs.

I had the Apple store wiped out my hard drive and I restore my last hard drive downloard by first placing Snow leopard DVD in the DVD drive and holding "C" when turning on the machine then I follow the instructions. I am back on snow leopard and trying out two finance software to replace Quicken for mac 2007. I am trialing Quicken essentials and ibank. They are both compatable with LION. So when I am ready will download Lion again. Also, Micorsoft Office needs to be 2011 version for it to work on Lion

  • Print to PDF - using Snow Leopard (Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose

i have a PDF form that i created that is used as a custom proposal that my company sends out to potential clients. the form in its editable state is only used internally. we recently upgraded to snow leopard, but prior to the upgrade, we were able to fill the custom proposal form out using adobe reader, and, as you well know, we weren't able to save that edited document as a PDF with the custom form fields filled out. our work around using adobe reader was to print to a pdf using the adobe pdf printer in the printer dialog. with the addition of snow leopard, however, instead of choosing the adobe pdf printer, we were to choose PDF from the bottom left corner, then Save As PDF, and it would spit out an uneditable pdf that then allowed us to email it to the potential client without them being able to edit it as well as have an internal, digital copy for our records instead of having lots of paper floating around (i know this is also doable using security that disallows the client certain editing privileges, but printing to a pdf is much quicker and more efficient, and the pdf security isn't really that secure at its best).
in any case, i came across this gem of a post here on the support forums that installs another option from the PDF drop down on the bottom left of the print dialog menu that reads Save As Adobe PDF and is supposed to do exactly what i am trying to get it to do...print to a pdf file from adobe reader.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50981.html
once i updated to acrobat 9.2 (as the link above suggests 9.1), however, the Save As Adobe PDF does appear in the print dialog menu, but it still gives me the same error that acrobat 8 - 9 gave me while using Snow Leopard — Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save — and as i've already explained, you can't save an edited pdf form in reader (as i am the only one in the office with acrobat) and still keep the fields as you've entered them in. the only work around is to print to a pdf but is apparently having some recent problems.
using acrobat, however, i know that i can save the editable pdf as a new file with the fields customized as i have left them, but it still saves it as an editable pdf and the print to a pdf option still remains the best option...that way we have digital copies internally that are uneditable that can be printed at any time or emailed to the client.
how can i do print to a pdf, based on what i've written above, using snow leopard and acrobat and reader?

A simple way is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript or PDF Optimizer (Advanced > PDF Optimizer > Discard Objects > Flatten form fields). A very nice script that adds a custom menu item can be found here: http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/flattener/

  • Cannot use program, not supported by architecture?  I have a MacBook running 10.5 and have a Snow Leopard upgrade disk to 10.6.3, and that is the error message that I keep getting as to why my update won't install.

I have a MacBook that I am trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that I may upgrade it then to Lion to make better use of my iPad and some of the n we tools that Apple has made available in Lion.  I have checked and double checked that my MacBook meets the hardware expectations, and it does exceed the ones for Snow Leopard.  however, every time that I try to run the install disk it tells me that the program is not supported by the current architecture.  I have even tried to backend the processes by opening the install folder with "View Package Contents" option, but it still gives the same error message!  Someone please help!

Obtain one of these Snow Leopard DVDs instead. They are not expensive.
To get one, there are some details at this link.

Since updating OS to Mountain Lion from leopard, I get the following error message when trying to backup with time machine on external drive.  "Could not complete backup to media share.  The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features."  What are AFP features and how do I get Time Machine to backup to my current external backup?

This means that your NAS does not support the required encryption. Update your NAS to the latest firmware or ditch it and buy a Time Capsule (they are the most reliable when using TM).

  • Had to buy NEW HP due to Lexmark will not support Leopard

I purchased a new HP PSC7280 due to the fact that LEXMARK tech support sent me an email stating that they will not support LEOPARD on my printer and X9350 (top of the line consumer product for lexmark) even though they state on their website they should have a supported driver out in March of 2008. First, I can't wait six months to be able to print. Second, they did this with the printer I had before and when the printer driver was released it was just the printer driver no scanning or faxing support. Had to buy a new printer then. Third I think I remember something that the new OSX Leopard was announced and developers had free copies made available back at WWDC so Lexmark evidentially does not want to support Macintosh... By the way the Hewlett Packard PSC 7280 works seamlessly with no problems for printing, scanning, or faxing and it does it wirelessly... (Better than Lexmark ever did for me)

I have had the same problem...can't even print on my x9350 using bonjour. How hard is it to keep up to date with a driver? I am not impressed with Lexmark - when I first bought the printer, I couldn't even order supplies for it. I think they are a bit disorganized. Next time, I am buying HP - the last HP I had lasted 8 years. And for the cost of the consumables, its not that big a deal to switch. Too bad - nice printer.

  • AcroPro9, snow leopard, "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported"

    Hi,
I have AcroPro9.1.3 (and 8 and 7 and Dreamweaver CS3, and probably other stuff too) on Snow Leopard (10.6.1).
I've read about de-installing the Acrobat printer and using "save as Adobe PDF" from the PDF button on the print menu.  However, when I try this, I'm told "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported".  Note that this is AcroPro9, not AcroReader.  I get the same message when I try any of the other options under the PDF menu on the printer menu in Acrobat.  In other applications, tho, (eg powerpoint), the PDF button works fine.
Before the upgrade, the PDF button on the print menu didn't work either (same message), so I used the Adobe printer, but now I can't.  I had always assumed that AcroPro was stopping me from using Apple's PDF generator in favour of the Adobe one.  But maybe some of my settings are wrong.
I now cannot print to PDF from Acrobat.  Help.  There are 120 fourth year software engineering students who will appreciate any help I get, as I can then post my recent lecture notes for them.
(What I really want to do is to take my powerpoint slides and print 4-up versions directly.  But the PPT idea of 4up wastes a lot of space, so I generate 1up PDF, and the 4up PDF from that using Acrobat.  At least, I used to.  It was so much easier in the old days with Latex and psnup ...)
    -- Mike G.

My current solution is to print from Preview instead (which will let me use the Adobe print facility, unlike Acrobat itself).
In fact, I pretty much have no need for Acrobat at the moment.
Adobe and Apple between them seem to have some real problems with Snow Leopard.  I can't get Dreamweaver to run anymore without immediately crashing (yes I looked through the help forums, deleted settings, etc etc).  So I'm now looking for a replacement tool for Dreamweaver and will likely use that from now on.
Adobe is not looking very good to me at the moment.  YMMV.
