Olympus E-510 Camera Raw support

I've been using and Olympus E-500 and CS2 suite and have had no problem bringing in raw files (ORF) into Photoshop. However, I just started using the new Olympus E-510 and the raw files from this camera cannot be imported into Photoshop.
Does anyone know of a plug-in that will allow me to bring in the E-510's raw files (or does anyone know when an Adobe update will happen to include the E-510)?
Thanks very much.

The E-510 apparently is not yet supported, but probably within a couple of months.
(I had been reading about a magenta cast for near blown highlights for this camera at the DPReview Oly DSLR forum. I seem to remember some users checking these highlights with ACR, but I could be mistaken. Check it out.)
Unfortunately for you, it will only be supported by CS3's ACR version 4.x. You will need convert to DNG to be able to use ACR3.x with CS2. When the 510 is supported, you'll be able to download the DNG converter.

  • Olympus pen ep-1 raw support

Hi i just buy an olympus pen ep-1 , who seams to buy a very succesfull camera
i would like to know if it's exist a camera raw support for this camera at this time ?
and if not how long must we waiting for it ?
    thanks for ur help

Strange. Hmm, well I don't know the answer then.
I suppose it's possible that when you set the backwards compatibility to DNG
1.1 or 1.2, you are getting linear DNGs created from the E-P1 files, and
that Aperture does not support reading linear DNGs.
In any case, I am reasonably confident that the DNGs produced by Camera Raw
5.5 RC and DNG Converter 5.5 RC from the E-P1 .ORF files are valid DNGs.
Hence there is not much that we can do.
I maintain that if you wish to resolve this, you need to follow up with
    Apple.
    Eric
Same thing happens when I set DNG Converter to use DNG 1.1S
Well, I guess I'll continue using Capture One for the 30 days of the trying
periodS After that, I'll have to shoot in JPG
Because if I have to wait for Apple, I'll wait for a long long timeS

I need Camera RAW support for Lightroom 4.4 and Canon 7D Mark ii.  Is there a Camera RAW version for me?

Thanks for your help.  I checked out DNG on YouTube and understand more
about it.  I downloaded the DNG converter and transferred in files from my
camera.  Then I imported into Lightroom.  It works!   Thanks again.

  • Camera Raw Support for Canon 7D MkII

Just trying to get some idea if I should spend the $99.00 to buy Aperture from the Apple Store.  This might sound a little over the top, but the work flow I miss by not having RAW support in Lightroom is worth the expense of buying Aperture.
I do find it very disappointing that Adobe have not as yet provided support for the new Canon 7D MkII.  This will be a VERY popular camera.
More importantly I find this tardiness on Adobe's part very disappointing because they market CC buy saying "You will always have up to date software".  When you consider Apple and Google Picasa have both already supported the Canon 7D MkII.  I might add they both had support for the camera within days of it's release on 31 of Oct.
    So after my little rant.
Can anybody from Adobe advise when we will see Camera Raw support the new Canon 7DMkII?
Even if it is in Beta form I would be very happy to be a Beta tester.  I have very extensive experience in testing software and would be prepared to do structured Beta testing.  I would be very happy if someone from Adobe Labs would contact me for the purpose of Beta testing Camera Raw support for the 7D MkII.
    Kind Regards
    Tom Croll

Thanks ssprengel, you have clearly put into words what is currently reality at Adobe, and confirmed my suspicion of Aperture being a dead product.  Although Google's Picasa is not dead.
I do realize Adobe Products are very well developed and software does take time to perfect before it gets released.  I have been in the software development game for 35 years
But Camera RAW is an adjunct to Lightroom, Photoshop, Premier Pro etc.  As such the support for new camera models should be a relatively simple exercise and should not be held up by other R&D on the products that Camera Raw plugs into.  I believe they have in the past released updates to Camera Raw that essentially was just for new camera models.  I do realize I could be wrong on this point, but I fail to see why they can't achieve this outcome.
Also, as I said Adobe Market Creative Cloud membership saying you will always be up to date. Or words to that effect.
To have an Adobe support person get upset because he has a large number of people pestering Adobe, and not him personally, trying to get ans answer as to the timing of the release of support for a new camera model, quite frankly is totally unacceptable.  Not acceptable to the customers and not acceptable to the poor support person who has to handle disgruntled customers due to poor planning on Adobe's part.
In my original post I made a very serious offer to do Beta Testing on support for the Canon 7DMkII Raw files.  But when i last checked with Adobe Labs the current Beta does not include support for this camera.
There maybe extenuating circumstances around the timely supply of this support.  Like when did Canon provide the Specs for the 7D MkII and are those specs so different from other currently supported models.   Even some feedback as to what the problem is, would help us understand.
I hope I have expressed my thoughts objectively and hope this discussion stream will get to management at Adobe.  In fact I am very inclined to ensure it does get to senior management.  I don't want to start writing a personal letter to the Chairman of Adobe's Board, but sometimes things do need a shake up.
    Kind Regards

  • Can I upgrade Camera Raw support in Elements 10 to level 8.3 or 8.4?

I just bought a Nikon D5300 and I wanted to shoot see some test images I shot in Camera Raw.  Trouble is that Elements 10 support for NEF files is at level 6.7, and, according to the Adobe charts, the D5300 NEF files are supported at level 8.3 or 8.4 because the camera is newer than Elements 10.  So, I tried to run an update in Elements 10, but it's telling me that it's up to date.
So, how do I get support for my new camera in Elements 10?  Is there a way to upgrade the Camera Raw support to level 8.3 or 8.4?

I posted a second question because I tried the DNG converter, but it doesn't support the 5300, or I can't get it to work.  So, my thought was to try to find a copy of PSE 11 I could register, and then try to upgrade it.
    Soapbox mode on.
Much of the conversation about raw files relates to the continuous improvement process of both the camera manufacturers and the software makers.  In my case, Nikon released the D5300 in November 2013 with full support for it in its View NX software.  And I can use that software to create JPEG's that PSE 10 can work with, but it's far from an optimal solution.
Adobe brought out PSE12, and the Camera Raw plug in covers a host of new cameras including mine.  OK, but the issue is that those of us who have 'older' software then are forced to upgrade to the PSE version that will support our cameras, instead of just installing a plug-in, as we do to our browsers when a new version of Flash Player comes out.  the only thing constant is 'change'.
It's apparent from comments I've been reading on the Forum that many of the Adobe employees who answer questions here are put out by the pace of change and the amount of work they have to do in order to respond to new cameras, etc.  That's their job, and they should complain less and work more, IMO.  If those Adobe employees are irritated by the questions we users ask, perhaps they should reconsider the attitude they display in answering them, or maybe even a career change.
However, Adobe itself should be making the plug-ins for PS, LR and PSE so they can apply to older versions when possible.  Adobe needs to set a horizon on what older products to work with, and not just the latest version.  When I worked in software development, that horizon was -2 versions plus the two in development.  By that logic, PSE 10 should be capable of supporting the latest versions of the Camera Raw plug-in.  And if I were in Adobe's software development unit, this is what I'd pitch for.  Microsoft does it, and Adobe does it too with Microsoft products, so why not with PS, LR and PSE?  It's not that hard, people.
    Soapbox mode off.
I can and probably will use the Nikon software for raw images.  If I want to use some special effects, I can come back to PSE or LR.  But I'm not disposed to throw another $80 to Adobe for a product every time I buy a new camera.
    Would you be?

  • Camera RAW Support for Canon 7D Mark II

    Hi,
I've just purchased the Canon 7D Mark II, connected it to my PC, but then found that Adobe Camera RAW doesn't support it yet. Any updates when this camera might be possibly supported?

Would it really do any good for Adobe to communicate an official release date? If they didn't meet that date then you would just call Adobe a liar. Adobe has users from several different companies waiting for support. And whether you believe it or not, there is no providing of specs from camera makers. They don't care whether Adobe Camera Raw supports the camera. Adobe is just another company to them. Adobe has to purchase each camera and then create the profiles for it. The real solution? Camera makers, agree on a common file format. If you won't do that, then YOU take the blame for this delay that happens about four times every year.
Actually, it would help, Jim. It does not have to be exact... it would help to know "this quarter" or "by the end of the year" or "mid-December". It would help because I could decide whether to find a workaround patch, or switch to a different system.
The camera makers are more than willing to provide that info, but according to a contact at Canon USA, in 2008 Adobe changed the game and decided to be more proprietary with their compatibility, presumably so that people would be required to upgrade their software every year just to be able to use new camera technology. It was Adobe's decision, and they could easily decide to play nice. But it is an unfair characterization to say that the camera makers don't care if Adobe supports their camera. That is just a silly assertion.
It comes down to he said - she said, and the two companies are simply pointing fingers at each other. Neither you nor I know the absolute truth about who is right... I only know that I am dissatisfied with Adobe's lack of communication, and slow response when compared to other companies, larger and smaller.

  • Can I upgrade the Camera Raw support in PSE 11 to version 8.3 or 8.4, so it supports my Nikon D5300?

I just upgraded my camera - and the Camera Raw support in PSE 11 is not able to support it.  Can I upgrade the Camera Raw plugin, or is Adobe going to force me to buy an upgrade to PSE 12 or another of their products?

You'd better complain to Nikon... Just like other camera manufacturers who issue new raw formats for each and every new camera. Adobe and all other software companies have to reverse engineer each new format. Those manufacturers could use the open and public DNG format (a few do).
Adobe answer to that problem is to provide a free software, the DNGconverter which can batch convert a folder of raw files to the universal DNG raw format which your old Elements version can read.

  • Camera Raw support for new Nikon D810

Hi, could you please advise when we can expect to see camera raw support for the new nikon D810.
    Thanks

Adriana – I installed the download from the link in the 7/27 post and was able to convert my NEF files to DNG format from my new D810 camera, but could not view/edit the NEF-smalls. When I saw your latest post I used your link to go to that download and noticed that in the description it mentioned that the issues with the D810 NEF-small have been resolved.  I deleted/emptied trash of the 7/27 download and re-installed the one mentioned from your link – although they were both identical in file size and version: 8.6 – hmm?  I tried the converter – but nothing new was converted (I presume because all had already been converted before?).  However, CS6 is still not able to open/edit neither the NEF-small file formats, nor the DNG created from it.  I am thinking maybe I am missing a step, because when I select properties for Camera Raw in CS6, the version is 8.5.0.236 – is that ok (my CS6 version is 13.0.6 – and no other updates appear available)? I only downloaded the DNGConverter_8_6.dmg; installed the .pkg – did I forget a step? Thanks for your help!

  • Camera RAW support 2.2 update and Nikon .NEF unsupported image format

    Hi,
I Use a Nikon D2x and only take raw images (.NEF file)
After I update from RAW support 2.1.1 update to RAW support 2.2 update, all my raw image file (.NEF file) taken before 13th September 2006 ! would not display - In the Aperture program, if i navigate to a project / folder and clicked on a thumb nail in the browser, I get a magenta / cyan screen showing in the main viewer panel with unsupported image format. ?
This is my worst-case scenario ! - I have entrusted Aperture with all my digital images (all raw .NEF) images taken before 13th September 2006 are un accessible with camera RAW support 2.2 update installed !
I have deleted (the 2.2 update) “from” System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle and reinstall the RAW support 2.1.1 update.
    * NOW I can now see all my raw Nikon .NEF images and they are now all fully functional again *.
Their is a problem with the Apple digital camera RAW support 2.2 update, it rendered the Aperture program useless to me for my older .NEF image/files (as above).
    This requires a fix ASAP
    Martin

Thankfully, I wasn't affected by the issue given I'm currently with Canon. There have been Canon woes in the past though.
On a side note, I never update anything until it has been out for a few weeks just to be sure. Because Aperture is such an integral component of my studio and business, I make sure everything always works before making any updates or changes - including upgrading cameras.
I'm sure the next update will fix the magenta issues.
    Best,
    CD

there is no camera raw support for Leaf Aptus-II 8? I need to be able to read MOS files

OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats seems to indicate that you are correct.
Are you are trying to provide  Apple - Aperture - Feedback or Apple - iPhoto - Feedback?
If so, use you can send direct feedback via the above link(s).  You will not likely get a direct response, but you can be certain that the responsible Apple people  will see your input for consideration in future product development.
If you seek a solution rather than to offer feedback, or until Apple supports your needs within the Mac OS, check whether Mamiya's Leaf RAW converter 1.2.6 for Mac meets your needs.

Does camera raw support the Nikon D5300, if not when there will be an update for this camera model?

The asterisk next the model number on the download page linked above means there is preliminary support, which usually means the camera is supported by pretending it is an earlier model with similar sensor.  This can lead to color issues, so while you can convert your NEFs to DNGs with the DNG Converter, and open them with PSE12, now, save your NEFs and be prepared to revisit those pictures once the final release of ACR 8.3 occurs probably in the next few weeks, with finalized support.

  • Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.2. update

After todays Apple Security Update 2008-007 the Apple Digital Camera RAW Support 2.2. update finally works correctly and the data can be aquired via card reader.
    Message was edited by: jdonath

    Lucky you jdonath....
I have still have the problem that have been mentioned in a number of posts in the forum, and what I guess you are refering to. And I have tried the advices I have found in those posts. I must admit that I might not have found them all.
The CF card on my Nikon D2Xs shows in finder, .nef files are there, but Aperture 2.1.1 don´t recognize my files only the card itself.
I use a card reader-not transferring files directly from the camera. I have installed the latest security update and camera raw 2.2. I have tried to go back to version 2.1 of the raw converter with no luck. I have repaired permissions, both with Onyx and with the disk tool in OSX.
Aperture opens when I put the CF card in the reader and it shows in the import option/drives window in Aperture, but the files are somewhere in outer space or at least hidden and unavailable for import.
So for now my solution is to dump the files to a picture dump folder on my hard-drive and import them from there to one of the libraries I use.
I have different libraries for work and private files in case someone wondered
It does not make any difference which library I use the problem is persistent. This feels like unnecessary work and not a very satisfying sollution in my workflow.
Yeah, yeah i use both belt and suspenders so the files are kept safe on an external drive as well. Manually copied of course... and btw i use a combo of referenced and managed files, but that should not make any difference. I have tried to alter that in the import options, with no apparent result of course.
Can anyone give me a hint what could (still) be wrong or do I have to be moderately patient and wait till next sunrise (it is late autumn and dark in Norway this time of year) , when Apple sends out version 2.3 and make a prayer that they remember that some photographers are still back in the stone age when comes to cameraequipment... ( I wish someone gave me a D3)
And just to make the confusion complete... It used to work BEFORE the security update last night...
    Cheers and my 2 cents
