Olympus OMD e M1

Can't seem to download a lot of pics from my new Olympus OMD M1. Some download others won't. Any thoughts? I am using the new MAC Yosemite OS which also makes LR behave weird at times, like dropping menus in the Develop module or the color brush not working etc.
Don

@newbieDon please answer a few questions so we can understand what you are trying to achieve, and how we can better advise you.
a. When you refer to the card, is the card still in the Camera?
b. You have the Camera attached to the computer via a USB cable?
c. You have the card in a card reader which is attached to the computer?
d. Is the card inserted to a SD slot on your computer?
If the answer to a + b is yes, then when importing the image files to Lightroom you will need to use the "Copy" option and decide where you wish to copy the original files to. Your HDD, and external HDD or even a HDD on a NAS.
If the answer to c is yes, then do the above.
If the answer to d is yes, then do the above.
If the answer to all the above is no then provide some more details.

how do you get camera raw plugin for cs5.1 extented for new olympus omd e-m1 camera?

Native support requires ACR version 8.3, which will only run under CS6 or CC.
Use the free DNG converter to make DNGs readable in older ACR versions. http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html

  • Raw support for Olympus OMD E-M10, When ?

I purchased a Olympus OMD E-M10 camera few weeks ago. Bad surprise when I loaded my shoots in Aperture ... Raw files not supoorted !
After the 5.05 update for raw compatibilty ... again a bad surprise ! The Olympus OMD E-M10 is not in the list of supported cameras :-(
When my E-M10 will be supported by Aperture ??????

This is always true when a new camera is introduced.
    I own the OM-D10.
My work around is to shoot in Raw + JpegSF. Import both into Aperture and set Jpeg as master.
If I need to use the Raw, I go to Olympus View 3. So far the Jpeg's have been perfect for my use. Please note that you have to go to a sub-menu to activae JpegSF.
Another website compared using Adobe's Raw converter to Olympus View 3 converter for OM-D1 files. The Olympus conversion was far superior.
So I do want Aperture Raw support. However, I am not sure how much I will use it.

  • Process Version 2012 for photos taken with Olympus OMD EM5

I have just purchased an Olympus OMD EM5. When I download images to Lightroom (v4.4) I have to manually convert to Process 2012. Am I doing something wrong? Why does this not happen automatically?

I can't tell you why it is doing that.  Are you applying a preset on import that includes the older PV?  Just a suggestion; you could create a preset that applies to the 2012 PV when images are imported.
Pardon my ignorance, but does that camera shoot DNG natively?  If it does, I wonder if it is using an older spec.  Don't know anything at all about this, just wondering.

  • RAW support for Olympus OMD EM5

Outfitting for a year long back pack trip. My MacBook Pro is going. Am in processof purchasing an Olympus OMD EM5 micro 4/3 camera for the trip. I use Aperture for photo processing. Any idea when or if  Aperture will add support for developing the RAW shots from the EM5?
    thnx

The usual interim approach for raw support has been to use Adobe's DNG converter to create DNGs that Aperture could read. This has always worked with the esception of non-Bayer sensors like the Foveon in Sigma cameras. But I can't get Aperure to read DNGs created from my E-M5's ORFs using DNG Converter v6.7 and have no idea where the problem lies.
It's taken Apple months to support Olympus cameras in the past, so I'm not optimistic.

  • Olympus OMD EM-5 Mark IIraw files not supported?

I just bought an Olympus OMD EM-5 Mark II, a brand new version of the EM-5.  I can't import raw files from the camera into Lightroom.  I see a message saying that the raw format is not supported.  There was no such problem with the earlier version of the camera.  Any suggestions?

  • Snow leopard and orf file from Olympus OMD EM1

Hello, is there any chance to see the preview of these orf file without upgrading to 10.8.5 or later?
I have Aperture 3.2.4 with Digital Camera Raw 3.13.0 and it works fine with the Olympus E 620 orf files.
I can see the preview of these orf also from desktop. without opening Aperture.
Upgrading to Olympus OMD EM1, the new orf files aren't read anymore...it seems that  I need Digital camera Raw 5.03 to see them, but the dmg can't be opened with 10.6.8....
I don't want to upgrade , because I like very much Snow leopard, but it is frustrating not to see the preview of the Olympus EM1 orf files...every time I have to open them with Olympus Raw Converter ( Olympus Viewer 3), that is very slow....
    Any suggestion?
    Thank You for the attention
    Bye
    Susanna

Hy Brody, thank You for your kind reply
I think that I won't be able to fix this because I've read somewhere that Preview share the same raw converter of Aperture and IPhoto, but I run Aperture 3.2.4 ( Aperture 3.5 is required for EM1 and doesn't support my SL !!) and a very old Iphoto ( I don't use it since a long time ago), that I can upgrade only to 9.2.3.
Now I must find if Iphoto 9.2.3 can open these raw from EM1, so probably also Preview could...but I'm not hopefully.
    Thank U very much again!!

  • I'm running PS 5 on my iMac (OSX 10.4.9) and have been using an Olympus OMD EM-1  To treat my raw images I need Plug-in 8.3  Is there an easy way to download this? Many thanks in advance. pah

Yes, upgrading is certainly an option, but you could also use the 8.5 Dng Converter to convert your Olympus OMD EM-1 camera raw files to dng copies, which then you would be able to open in photoshop cs5.
(i just wanted us to be sure of what version of photoshop and mac os you were using, so we could could the correct advice)

What level of Elements will support Olympus OMD-M-5 Raw Files (.ORF) ??

Yes it is the OM-D E-M5 Newly purchased. Love the camera but don't like the Olympus software.
I have Elements 7, but have previously been a Canon user and have hitherto used Canon DPP software to process my CR2 Raw files.

  • RAW conversion from Olympus OMD

When importing RAW images into Aperture 3 form Olympus OMD, the thumbnails appear properly exposed, however when I select images to apply adjustments, the images then appear markedly underexposed. Any help on this would be appreciated. (This does not happen when shooting JPEGS)> Thanks.

  • LR5 does not recognize Olympus OMD-EM 5 II

How do I get Adobe Lightroom 5 to work with my Olympus OMD-EM 5 II camera?

Support for the OMD-EM5 11 was introduced with the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin version 8.8 for Photoshop CS6 and CC. There has been no corresponding update to LR 5.8, the latest version is 5.7.1.
See the link below which provides additional info.

  • How long till Raw compatibility for the Olympus Omd Em1

I just got the Olympus Omd Em1 to use on a month long trip through Europe in December. I want to shoot in Raw but I can't even save the files on my Mac Book because it doesn't recognise the files. As i see it I can shoot in both Jpeg and Raw, but that takes up a lot of space on the SD cards and doubles the photos on Aperture, when I can eventually download the Raw files, also I will have to keep the SD Cards full till I can download the Picks in Raw.  So I will have to have additional cards that I don't really need. (also added expense). I can only download to the Olympus Viewer 3,but It looks like I can export the pick's only in Jpeg or Tiff, Not in Raw? I got the Em1 specifically for this once in a lifetime trip and now I find out Aperture won't accept the Raw files. Is there any chance that the Apple Software engineers will update the program faster than the normal 3-6 months? If there are Apple Employees out there this is the only way I can find to ask?

I can not at all confirm getting tons of noise in Lightroom. I downloaded the Lightroom 5.3 RC (release candidate), because I couldn't stand it any longer to have to shoot JPEG and not RAW. I've been using Aperture for years now and simple am used to work with raw images. And the slowness of the Olympus viewer is simply unexceptable for me. In comparison, I also like the results that I'm getting from Lightroom better than those from the Oly viewer.
So, at least until Apple comes out with E-M1 support, I will stick with Lightroom to have a solution that actually works. The release candidate expires at the end of December.
But then, Adobe also sells Lightroom with a huge discount at the moment. So far I like it quite a lot. So I might also just buy it and stick with it.
