Hi Whiteshaq4,
Welcome to Apple Discussions
Knowledge Base Document #61119 says:
"To clean iPod, unplug all cables and cords and set the Hold switch to Hold. Then use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings.
Don't use aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, or abrasives to clean iPod."
Some people do recommend iKlear Cleaning Kit.
I hope that helps,
Jon

    I need some advice about the macbook pro and iPhone 5.
    I took a video on my iPhone and tried to email it it said it was too big to send? So i downloaded it to my macbook pro and tried to mail it to no avail? The macbook tells me the server won't let it through other mail goes through any ideas how to resize it or what it might take to send it?

    I agree with LowLister, the best option for you to share the video online is to upload it to your online storage account for example : Box, Dropbox, SkyDrive (All of them provide free storage beginning from 2GB).
    You can upload the files which you want to share in this online storage and then they have sharing options in which you'll will get the link of the file to be sent and send the email. You're good to go!
    Tip : You can store multiple files for backup purposes.

  • Need some advice about hot backup under linux

    hi, I want some advice about db files hot backup between two machines(Named A and B).A is primary machine which will write and read database and have the lastest db file. B is backup role and no database file in it.
    Now I want hot backup A's db file to B in order to B have the lastest db file too.
    At A,my db file support transaction and environment, and I set autoremove unnecessary log files.
    The code such as follows:
    dbenv->set_flags(dbenv, DB_AUTO_COMMIT |DB_LOG_AUTOREMOVE | DB_TXN_WRITE_NOSYNC, 1);
    ret = dbenv->open(dbenv, NULL,
    DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_LOCK | DB_INIT_LOG | DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_INIT_TXN ,0)
    I don't want to use db_hotbackup utility. and db_hotbackup may be backup files to the same machine with different dir.
    How can I make machine A's db files backup to machine B.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Hangsy
    Now I want hot backup A's db file to B in order to B
    have the lastest db file too.What do you mean? Do you want to have the latest version... from when you did the latest backup, or you want to keep it updated in the same time with the main database?
    I don't want to use db_hotbackup utility. and
    db_hotbackup may be backup files to the same machine
    with different dir.You can copy the backup anywere you want.
    If you want to run recovery on a different machine, it must be the same pointer size and endianness as the original machine.
    Database and log file archival: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/transapp/archival.html
    It is usually simpler to take the hot backup on the main machine and run recovery there before copying the databases to the remote system.
    In this setup, only the databases are required on the remote system, not the log files.
    Since you are using NOSYNC, you should run a checkpoint which will ensure you that the database files are up to date.
    Please read "Recovery procedures" ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/transapp/recovery.html ) first. "you cannot perform a hot backup of databases and log files, restore the backup and then run normal recovery -- you must always run catastrophic recovery when using hot backups."

  • I need some advice on replacing my ipod touch 4th generation screen. The silver plate won't go back into it's original place and i can't put the screws back in. I really need help i don't want my ipod to be broken!!!

    I started to replace my ipod 4g screen but the silver plate that goes on top of the battery won't go back into place. It's not lining up with the screw holes so i can't finish the repair. Please I'm begging you all to help me with some advice and tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be greatly appreeciated. ASAP

    Your best bet is to email the company that sold you the screen for advice.  Or you could search on YouTube for repair instructions.  Hopefully, you will see where you went wrong.  Apple will not do an out-of-warranty replacement on an iPod that has been opened.

  • Need some advice about possibly getting a MacBook Pro

    I have been offered retail price for my 3 month old PB 17" (see description below). If I decided to do it, I would turn around and buy the new MacBook Pro. I love my PB and really hadn't thought about getting the MacBook Pro because I just got this laptop. I do have some accessories that I wouldn't be able to use on the new latop (FW800 2.5" hard drive and EVDO broadband internet pccard to name a couple). A couple of reasons that I can think of that I wouldn't like to switch are reduced screen size (although due to the better brightness, I could probably deal with it), reduced DVD Drive (although I have yet to burn using Dual Layer), etc. I have been reading about how some people like this or that about the MacBook Pro, but I was curious to get everyone's opinion on a switch from a very new laptop. I am leaning against doing the deal, but would love the input. I don't use it for major video editing, although I do a little, but only for home/family movies. Mainly, it is used for my everyday portable workstation. I do make a living using my computer (I repair computers, mac and pc) so something speedy is a must, but it seems to me that I have suffcient speed already. Well, enough of my rambling, any input would be great.
    Thanks in advance,
    GeNomeZ

    Well, I have a 15" PowerBook G4 as well, the recent high res one that came out in October. I'm taking the plunge but as you can see below I haven't received mine yet so I can't give you too much of my opinion. I did it more for the processor, iSight, the ir for Front Row, the video card, the faster ram, the faster fsb, uhhhh, I could go on. I'll probably notice the 60 pixel loss but I'll deal, I can deal w/o dual layer, ***** about the speed drop, I never used fw800 or the pc card slot. And dial up doesn't exist to me

  • To clean the ipod nano

    Like most of you, I have an ipod nano that after a few days of just being in my pocket, got severely scratched up. It is black, and was really sexy when I took it out of the box, but immediately started getting hairline scratches. I really don't want to cover it with one of the Nano tubes, and I can't order one of those covers online because I don't have a credit card.
    I was wondering if the stuff you can buy to clean CD's would work? I found it was pretty good at removing the smaller scratches from a CD, so I thought about trying it here. I just don't want to try it and screw up my ipod even more.

    a cleaner won't repair the scratches but there was something called novise #2 or something that was included in another post that was a scratch repair formula. It would buff the scratches out. There was a post about a product called Novus #2 or something like that that the user claimed would repair scratches...

    might be something to look at (but at your own risk...)

  • I need some advice about using Leopard on a Power Mac G5

    I purchased a Power Mac G5 (Dual 2.3) in 2006. I have 2 internal hard drives and am currently running Tiger and Leopard. Some of my current apps that are outdated don't run on Leopard (such as Office 2004). I am thinking about switching over completely to Leopard, so I would have to upgrade my remaining apps that need to be updated.
    Is it worth it? Does Leopard (and modern applications) run smoothly on a G5 or are those really intended for Intel Macs? Would it be better for me as a PowerPC user to just stick with Tiger? Are the versions of iTunes and QuickTime available in Leopard the same available in Tiger?
    I really don't need Classic anymore, so that's not holding my back. But I don't want to spend the money to upgrade my applications if they aren't going to work that well on a G5 anyway.

    Actually, Office 2004 runs just fine on Leopard. That's what I'm running now, and I have no intention on going to Office 2008.
    I feel that Leopard runs smoothly on the G5. I've not really seen any issues with it as of yet.
    iTunes and QuickTime are the same version number under Leopard as they are under Tiger. However, there is a different download of QuickTime depending on if you're on Tiger or Leopard.
    What other applications are you using that you think you may need to upgrade?

  • I need some advice on editing the songs I buy

    I have a lengthy list of songs that I have bought from the iTunes store (I guess I only bought the rights to listen to them?) Anyway, there are a couple of these songs that I would like to edit. That is, specifically, I want to cut a few seconds from the start and a few more from the end before I burn them onto a music CD. First, is that legal? If not go no further.. :0). If it's OK to do, how do I (a greenhorn) do it? Do I need a special piece of software, or can I get one somewhere for free? Thanks,
    Rich

    I can now say for sure that this works if you are burning a music CD. I have a play list into which I have dragged all the songs I want to burn onto a CD. Then I used your tip to cut off the front and some of the back of this particular song (it has a LOT of stuff on it I don't want to hear). Once I had the song pared down to the just the part I wanted, I burned the CD and voila!. It worked! It even changes the length of the song _in that play list only_. It doesn't change the original copy, just the one on the play list that I burned the CD from. Awesome!
    Thanks freelancer, I'll mark this one Answered.

  • Need some advice about cross browser display

    Hi, I'm still trying to master css design and having a few
    problems getting my pages to look the same on Opera and FF. I'm not
    sure where I'm going wrong.
    The site looks pretty much how it's meant to in IE (though
    still in draft stage), but all sorts of gaps and spaces appear in
    the other browsers that ruin the look.
    Also in the 'restauraunts' 'shopping' and 'things to do'
    pages the content drops way down on the page and I don't know why
    that is either.
    http://www.sorrentoquay.com.au/new_index.html
    ps: I know I have a 916px image (the dropshadow) which is
    causing the content to drop way down the page in FF and Opera, but
    this is supposed to be in column with the content column lining up
    along side it. It's doing what it's meant to do in IE.
    I appreciate the responses so far, thankyou.

    You must have fixed the original problem, because I don't see
    any dropping
    content in FF as I did when you posted originally.
    However, your 'shadow' is not going all the way down the page
    as it does in
    IE7. Have you thought about moving that image out of the html
    as using it
    as a background image in that dive and repeating it on the
    'y' axis)... may
    also solve some of the gap problems you may be seeing, though
    I can't see
    them this time roung.

  • Need some advice about upgrading my RAM.

    I own a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5.
    I use Final Cut Pro 5 and want to make some upgrades to my Memory.
    I've already got 2 GB DDDR2 SDRAM, and I'd like to add 2 GB more.
    I found this webpage, but being naive at this stuff, I thought I'd run this by the experts here...
    http://www.memorystore.com/product.asp?modelid=18738&famid=132&oemdesc=2GB+Kit&q ty=2
    I was thinking of getting the Samsung brand, as I heard it was exactly what Apple uses.
    I was also confused because I got my G5 in summer of 2006, and I can't be sure which model number I have. All I can guess is I have the "Late 2005" model.
    Thanks anyone for the help.
    Sincerely,
    yoshi

    Hi-
    I'm gonna save you a bunch of money (and possible headache), and direct you to guaranteed Mac compatible RAM.
    The page lists RAM for the dual core Late 2005 G5..
    Check your system profiler, under Memory, and confirm that you have DDR2 PC4200 memory installed.
    You can confirm your memory needs on this page, and confirm your G5 model using the serial number tag, described in this document.

  • Need some advice about Mail Preferences and Rules

    Several months ago, I created a rule in Mail 2.1.3 for my mailboxes that would filter out some of the SPAM that I get on my laptop. I indicated that I only wanted to receive messages from people in my address book.
    As it turns out that was not a great decision, and now I'm missing mail from people that comes right through on our "family" PC running Outlook. I tried to change that rule, but I didn't remember how I had done it. I searched help and found the instruction: Click Mail, Click Preferences, Click Rules.
    However, when I get into Preferences, I don't see Rules anywhere. I only have ACCOUNTS, MAILBOX BEHAVIORS, and ADVANCED. I don't see rules on any of those tabs. Clearly, I had the power before. Can someone please (pretty please) tell me what I'm missing now?
    I would greatly appreciate any advice that you can give.
    Thanks!

    You must have inadvertently clicked on the small gray oval in the upper right-hand corner of the Preferences window sometime in the recent past. Doing so toggles between showing/hiding icons for General, Accounts, ..., Signatures, and Rules.

  • Need some advice on choosing the right iPad

    My wife has been dropping some subtle hints that she'd like an iPad for Christmas.  I'm playing dumb for the time being so she'll be surprised when the time comes but I'm forced to admit that I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to choosing the right model for her.  She wants one specificaly for pictures,but will probably also use it for downloading audio books, e-mail and web.  While I'd like nothing more than to be able to afford the latest and greatest, cost IS a consideration so I'm looking at used & refurbished  2's in the $300-$350 range; maybe a 3 if I can make it fit the budget.
    Of the older generations out there, which one has the better camera and would I better off with a  64 gig rather than a 32?

  • I Need some info about interfacing the PC or laptop to Spectrum analyzer using Labview

    we need to control  the spectrum analyzer using an interface   that will    be   developed  using  Labview  .
    Spectrum analyzer will be connected to tha PC using RS 232C and the waveform observed will be seen in the PC interface of spectrum analyzer.
    Pls send some info regarding dis.

    Using a spectrum analyzer with LabVIEW is a pretty common application, my first program 15 years ago did this. What we need to know to help you though is what model spectrum analyzer are you planning on using? Most of the ones I'm familiar with use the GPIB interface rather than RS232, but that isn't a major issue, the spectrum analyzers command set is the important one. There are a lot of LabVIEW drivers available for a larger number of analyzers, here on the National Instruments' site. Although most use the GPIB interface (or ethernet), they can be used as a starting point to develop an RS232 driver if one isn't available, assuming that there is a driver for the model that you have, or a closely related one (manufacturers frequently use similar command sets within a model type).
    So, what type analyzer are you using, and what types of things are you planning on doing with it?

  • Need some advice about PersistenceManger.

    Is there any disadcantage of using ONE persistenceManager for whole
    application?
    I have this program which is managing Student data, which consist of
    Student, Info, Adress object.
    When each object is loaded with different PersistenceManager,
    I have trouble do the following:
    student.setInfo(info);
    // or
    info.setAddress(address);
    I got an exception saying that they are managed by different
    PersistenceManger.
    I can't think of any way but have them use SAME persistenceManager.
    Which means ONE persistenceManager for whole program.
    But I am worry about if it will cause any problem.
    What would you do?
    Thanks.

    Multiple transactions are a headache with a single persistence manager. I've
    tried a single PM for an entire program and found it to be extremely
    difficult to work around. Plus, I hated the idea of having a singleton
    object (i.e. PM) that everyone had to share.
    You can solve the problem of sharing objects across PM's a number of ways.
    My two favorite ways are to:
    Pass object ID's from thread to thread. i.e. if there are any Queue's or
    Messages sent between threads, use:
    Object id = pm.getObjectID(myObj);
    queue.enqueue(id);
    Object newID = queue.dequeue();
    MyObj newObj = (MyObj )pm.getObjectById(newID);
    Another option is to pass the actual objects around and then at the
    beginning of the method, get local instance of the object. Generally, this
    can be done:
    infoPM = JDOHelper.getPersistenceManager(info);
    infoID = infoPM.getObjectID(info);
    myInfo = pm.getObjectById(infoID);
    student.setInfo(myInfo);
