Omni 10 SD performance

I ran some benchmarks on the Omni 10's SD performance, and came away disappointed.  Using a Samsung MB-MGCGB 64GB MicroSDHC Pro card and CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3, I got the following results:
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.3 (C) 2007-2013 hiyohiyo
                           Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/
* MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s]
Sequential Read :    11.222 MB/s
Sequential Write :     6.438 MB/s
Random Read 512KB :    11.074 MB/s
Random Write 512KB :     0.742 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) :     4.797 MB/s [  1171.2 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) :     0.008 MB/s [     2.0 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) :     5.176 MB/s [  1263.8 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) :     0.008 MB/s [     2.0 IOPS]
Test : 500 MB [D: 0.0% (0.0/62.5 GB)] (x3)
Date : 2013/12/25 17:00:02
OS : Windows 8.1  [6.3 Build 9600] (x86)
This is a UHS-1 card, so I was expecting better.  I have the latest driver package installed, and HP's Omni 10 specs page says it has an "Integrated micro SD card, support SDXC in DDR50, SDR25 and SDR12 mode".  I've seen much better results reported for the Venue 8 Pro, so I'm not sure what to think.
This is fast enough for media files, but hopelessly slow for hosting applications.  I'd appreciate additional data points and/or insights from the community.

Thanks for the info; very helpful.  It turns out the card I tested was an elaborate fake (complete with nearly perfect foil-printed packaging).  I bought a nominally identical Samsung card at Best Buy, and the results improved.  Under H2benchw, the genuine Samsung card managed 18.3 MB/s for reads and 13.6 MB/s for writes.  This is very close to what you reported, so it looks like that might be the best the Omni 10 can do.
CrystalDiskMark results for the genuine card:
Sequential Read :    23.445 MB/s
Sequential Write :    15.836 MB/s
Random Read 512KB :    22.781 MB/s
Random Write 512KB :    15.355 MB/s
Random Read 4KB (QD=1) :     7.033 MB/s [  1717.0 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=1) :     2.138 MB/s [   521.9 IOPS]
Random Read 4KB (QD=32) :     7.265 MB/s [  1773.7 IOPS]
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) :     2.099 MB/s [   512.6 IOPS]
Comparison to performance of the 32GB internal eMMC, in percentage terms:
27.06%  Sequential Read
35.58%  Sequential Write
28.71%  Random Read 512KB
42.00%  Random Write 512KB
63.37%  Random Read 4KB (QD=1)
18.71%  Random Write 4KB (QD=1)
23.53%  Random Read 4KB (QD=32)
14.18%  Random Write 4KB (QD=32)
This level of performance remains lower than I was hoping for, but might be adequate for applications with modest I/O demands.  I suppose it's acceptable for a device that's otherwise such a good value.  If only they could provide drivers that keep it from freezing every few hours...

    Hi,
is it possible to install Windows 8.1 Professional (32 bit) on the Omni 10 without problems?
    Are there any how-tos available?
    Regards
    Andreas

Hi @AndreasN  , welcome to the HP Forums. I understand you are looking for an instructional to install Windows 8.1 Pro x 32 on your Omni tablet.
If you are saying that you want to install a retail copy of Windows on it, I do not have an instructional for you and I have never done it on an Omni tablet. I cannot guarantee you wouldn't have any problems, but I can give you a few things you will need. Here are the drivers you will need:
HP Omni 10 5600eg Tablet Drivers
If you have Windows 8.1 DVD's you would need a computer to make an installation USB drive to get it on your tablet:
Create installation media for Windows 8.1. There are many other instructionals out there as well, if you need more info.
If I am wrong, and you just mean to do a factory reset, these instructions cover that: Recovering Software on Your HP Tablet (Windows 8)
    I hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue with a file called IMG_2353.MOV that was imported into iPhoto from my iPhone and also have to manually select the items to import (so the rogue file doesn't error everything out). I've tried using Image Capture to locate/delete the file directly from my iPhone, but even though I can SEE it in Image Capture, I can't delete it or anything. This is VERY frustrating! My friend/Apple guru's only suggestion was to backup my phone then restore it through iTunes. Risky but should do the trick. I'm too scared to try, though!

  • Omni 10 touch screen does not work / Tablet Omni 10 non funziona il touch screen

After updates to Windows, the tablet does not recognize the touch screen.
I tried all the recommendations of the forum but to no avail !! it is impossible that HP does not have a solution to the problem? I see that others have similar problems, so it is a manufacturing defect? Amazon also because I would replace the product with another Omni 10 but if this has the same problem, I take the money and make change. thanks
Grazie

    Hey @MaxAlex72 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're experiencing issues with the touch screen on your Omni 10 tablet.
I would suggest following these guides:

  • Omni 10 touchscreen does not work

    I have a 4 month old OMNI 10 5600US, S/N [edited by Moderator]
The touchcsreen fails to start when I turn on the tablet.  Since this is a tablet, I am perty much dead in the water.
How do i go about getting this fixed?

@george-p: Are you serious? This is just a bad joke, isn't?! Instead of helping a user to troubleshoot his problems and fix them, all you do is to quote the forum rules while completely ignoring the question itself. Great support you guys from HP doing there, just as I experienced also in the past. That's why I am done with this company's products!
@joe: you sure the touchscreen stopped working or the device maybe locked up after start? Try connecting a mouse and keyboard via USB hub and a USB OTG cable. If this works you can try to refresh windows without loosing your data.

  • How to call a web service that is managed by web services manager from omni

Ok gurus... here is an interesting one for you.
We have a set of web services that are deployed to our server. We have Oracle Web Services Manager deployed to another server and is acting as a gateway to our web services.
We would like to call our web service and pass it the username and password that were specified in the omniportlet connection information screen. How do we go about doing this?
PS. We are using the latest version of portal (10.1.4).
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers,
    Cory

Just a follow up. What I would like to do is to have omni portlet add standard header information for security such as the following:
    <soap:Header>
    <wsse:Security xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">
    <wsse:UsernameToken xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">
    <wsse:Username>theusername</wsse:Username>
    <wsse:Password>thepassword</wsse:Password>
    </wsse:UsernameToken>
    </wsse:Security>
    </soap:Header>
Any ideas on how to get omniportlet do this? Any ideas on where to look for the answer? Oracle dudes: Any plans to add this to future releases?
    Thanks again folks :-)

  • I want to output from my 27-1007ev Omni to my tv using hdmi ...

    Hi
My Omni 27-1007ev has an HDMI port that I want to use to output online tv from my pc to my actual tv (in order to get UK tv here in Cyprus).
The manual is not clear on this but trials show that the connection appears to be one way only and that is from a games console into the pc. I want to go the other way.
With an HDMI cable attached pressing the top button (pc right hand side adjacent to HDMI port) brings up a game mode message on a grey screen.
The second from top button brings up a facimile of the buttons on screen with this button having a no entry sign over it. The volume buttons have no effect on pc screen as stated in the manual.
The TV screen stays blank throughout.
    Anyone got any ideas.
    Thanks Rop
    This question was solved.

Here are the specs for your HP Omni 27-1007ev Desktop Computer. According to the specs, the HMDI port on the side is for "Game console and/or video player input only". Please see this HP document entitled "Using an HDMI Game Console or HDMI Video Player with your Omni27 PC" for the proper connection and use of the HDMI input on your computer.
To connect your HDMI TV to your Omni 27-1007ev computer will require the use of a USB-to-video adapter such as the EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 or similar adapter.

  • Problems with Modbus OMNI driver

    Lookout version 5.1 (build 8)
I am using the Modbus OMNI driver to communicate with 6 OMNI 6000 flow computers at 56K (Hardwired) with a poll rate of every 20 seconds, receive gap 270 bytes and a failure of 1000mS.
The problem I have is that when scanning the OMNI, not only are they slow to respond hence the long delays between scans, but I am also finding that the OMNI data for handling digital outputs is being corrupted causing?? them to fire faster than the period I have set in the OMNI. i.e. if I set a pulse output to occur when 1m3 of fluid has past I should get one pulse from the digital output. What is happening is that the outputs slowly start firing much quicker than this until we lose control of the signal and have to reconfigure the flow computer.
Is there a possibility that Lookout is corrupting some of the memory areas within the OMNI and causing this.
I see from other users that they are having problem with slow responses from this driver.
Any advice you have on this matter would be useful
    Derek

  • Looking for a decent high quality case for the Omni10 Omni 10

For anyone looking for the best case for the Omni 10 then this fits perfectly and is the best match for this tablet currently
    http://targus.com/uk/product_details.asp?sku=THZ200EU
In the UK, where I live, it is available from John Lewis

It appears that the Targus case has a cutout that would allow you to charge the device with the cover closed. The HP case doesn't allow for that.
I wrote a review here on the HP case. I wouldn't recommend it. I should also note that the HP store personnel chose not to make my review public...seems there's some selective editing going on there which means I will never trust any reviews on that site.
You can search here for my whole review, but basically the HP case has a couple of problems.
    1. It's very heavy for a case.
    2. The holes don't line up particularly well with things like the camera (no matter how many times you adjust the tablet and tighten loosent the velcro closure.
    3. The aforementioned charging issue.
    4. You can't have any cables plugged into the device while in Stand mode (probably also an issue with the Targus).

  • Can I connect an external Optical drive to Omni 10

I am thinking to buy an Omni 10 tab. I want to confirm thad does it support external Optical Drives via USB OTG.
I have found from other threads on HP Support that it supports External HDD bt I am not sure about External ODD.
I asume that External ODD Requires more power than External HDD.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

@ Ritaban: The micro-USB port on an Omni 10 is capable of supplying only a limited amount of power to operate attached devices (500 mA maximum). Most USB devices which contain motors (hard drives, scanners, optical drives) require substantially more sustained power than an Omni tablet can deliver. (for example, HP-branded portable DVD drives require 2 Amps — that's 4x what an Omni can deliver.)
However, there is a straightforward solution to attaching a wide variety of high-power USB peripherals to an Omni tablet, if they are connected via a Powered USB Hub. Although the Omni micro-USB port limits data transfers to USB 2.0 speeds, I recommend employing a USB 3.0 hub, because they typically are bundled with higher-output power supplies than their USB 2.0 counterparts.
Most low-power USB devices — keyboard, mouse, flash stick, card reader — can usually be connected directly to an Omni tablet, via a micro-usb adapter cable, and won't require any supplemental operating power. However, if you intend to operate an Omni tablet for sustained periods with any USB devices attached, time between charges will be substantially reduced, so attach the supplied charger as well, whenever possible ...
I hope to see you back here at some point, to tell us about how-much you're enjoying your new Omni 10 tablet! Your questions are welcome as well...
    Enjoy!

  • Can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US

Since this a Windows tablet, can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US?
I know there is a micro-sd reader for additional storage but can you use the usb for external hard drives like a regular pc?
I tried looking at the spec's for this tablet and it said the usb port was host only. I'm not sure what that means exactly.

Yes you can.  You'll need to purchase a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable.  I recommend using a drive that has its own power supply but I've successfully used small USB powered drives also.

  • How do I install Quicken Delixe 2011 from a CD onto my HP Omni 10?

I just purchased an HP Omni 10 with Windows 8.1 and I want to install my Quicken 2011 Deluxe onto the HP tablet.  I have the Quicken Deluxe CD which I have copied onto a thumb drive.   Is Quicken 2011 Deluxe (which is installed on my Windows 7 computer compatible with Windows 8.1 and if it is, how do i install it onto the HP Omni 10?

    Hello, kmlevin.
There are many editions of Quicken, and your version also pre-dates the Windows 8.1 Operating System by 2 ~ 3 years.  I believe that you will get the best advice on compatibility and System Requirements for your specific version from the Quicken website. The Quicken user forum could also be a good place to learn about challenges when using a 10" display and a touchscreen.
If you've managed to copy all the installer files to a USB flash drive, you will only need a micro-USB 2.0 Adapter to connect to your Omni's USB port. The one offered by HP Home Shopping is not fully compatible and will prevent attaching an external display at the same time as a USB device; here are 2 fully-compatible choices from reliable USA-based suppliers:
    http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-5in-Micro-Host-Adapter/dp/B00B4GGW5Q/
    http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY%C2%AE-Universal-Female-Adapter-Samsung/dp/B00I3J59FG

  • Omni 10 Windows 8.1 won't always charge

Recently my Omni 10 has been intemittently refusing to begin charging when the power adaptor is connected.   When this occurs, the battery must completely drain before it will begin charging.  The charging brick is not getting hot.  I tried disabling the power option for sleeping the USB controller, and this had no effect either.  All drivers and BIOS are updated, and no applications have been loaded recently that might be causing the issue.
Short of a full factory reset, which is a real PITA, any ideas of what to try next?
