Omni Antenna For Cisco 1410 Bridge

Is there a third party omni antenna that is more powerful then the cisco 9bi antenna (AIR-ANT58G9VOA-N ) that I can purchase?
Thanks
Justin

There are some 12dbi onmi's:

  • What is the suitable outdoor antenna for cisco 819 4g router ?

what is the suitable and highest gain outdoor antenna for cisco 819 4g router ?

I believe your trying to ask a different question.  But here are the three options i know of:
Multiband Omni-Directional Stick Outdoor 4G Antenna (We have used a number of times)
Multiband Low-Profile Saucer Outdoor 4G Antenna
    Multiband Panel Outdoor 4G Antenna
The panel I have no experience with, so I can not speak on what gains you will receive.  But that is the hard part of the question for me to answer, high gains.  Because in my experience, there is so many factors to account for and most of them are outside our control.  But it looks like the Panel is the winner.  Again I have zero experience with, but we install the Omnidirectional stick all the time and make good connections.  Of course for the areas that have good cell coverage.  Also to add, the length of the connecting cable plays a part.
    Hope that help.

  • Problem in Cisco 1410 Bridge - Install LED in solid amber all the time

Hi, have anyone encountered during power up of Cisco Aironet 1410 (with integrated antenna), the Install LED status is solid amber all the time?
    At Bridge LEDs
    Install LED - solid amber
    3 LEDS - none
    At power injector
    Uplink - Off
    Injector - Blinking Green
    Ethernet - Off

    Two things.
    1. Did you assign the role of that bridge? Root, non-root, etc.,
    2. Check for "install" mode on the GUI itself and that may lead to finding the problem.

  • Sector antenna for Cisco 1524

We have some Cisco aironet 1524 AP's. Can I connect these AP's to a 21 dBi Sector Antenna and use it for Wi-Fi Broadcasting. Maybe even for indoor penetration for a distance of 150 to 200 meters?

    Scott,
If by "over-powering of the client" you mean pumping more EIRP from the AP than from the client than I would object your statement. Antenna gain doesn't lead to over-powering the client, antenna gain is symmetrical in transmitting and receiving parts of the equation. You can use a high gain antenna at the AP and use clients with weak antennas and achieve better range of coverage. You also can penetrate structures and increase the effective "listening" capabilities at the AP while clients are still "whispering" their signals through the obstruction.
However it is indeed a bad idea to use high gain antennas indoors to penetrate through obstructions. High gain directional antenna will receive clients signals from larger distances increasing the cell radius - true. But this, in its turn, will lead to other RF issues, such as Hidden Nodes and Near-Far situations. As Scott mentioned this is not a common strategy of increasing the coverage indoor.
1524 access points also have more available transmit power - and that can lead to over-powering of the client. At Level 1 they transmit 28 dBm (while normal laptop trasmits at 17 dBm). While antennas can be mismatched the transmit power must be set to same or lower than wireless clients.

  • Antenna Options for Cisco 1941w router

    Hi All,
I have a 1941w router which I would like to extend the 3 MIMO antennas as the unit is installed in our comms cabinet.
Really need help in choosing the correct antenna for this unit, if possible as well as extending the length increase the gain for better reception, been looking at 3x AIR-ANT1728 but these only run at 2.4GHz where the 1941w has both 2.4 and 5GHz.
If anyone has any information for me I would be most grateful.
    Thanks
    Ben

I take this back.  Maybe the newly-released AIR-ANT2547V-N might work.  You need to investigate it out because I have no other information other than the product number.

  • 1410 Bridges link fail

    Hi,
I have a point to point link of 9.27 km using 1410 bridges and AIR-ANT58G28SDA-N antennas as per the documentation that would be an easy to deploy link and it should work at 54 Mbps, eventhough it drops the link, it's so slow and the power measurments indicate -70 dbm (aprox) right under the antenna which is at 9 m height.
This is not the first time I have troubles with 1410 bridges, the other two times I had to change them for 1310 bridges. I wonder if it has to do with some configuration tunning like, external antena gain, link distance or anything else? By the wat this is ocurring in México don't know if that might be worth of taking into consideration in order to deploy a 1410 link.
Please let me know if you need to know any other information to figure out the scenario.
    Thanks in advance!
    Roberto.

Take a look a the specs of that antennae. IT's a parabolic dish with a narrow beam
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps7183/ps469/product_data_sheet09186a008022b11b.html
4.75°H, 4.75°V is the beam width.  if you are standing 9m below the antannae, -70 is pretty impressive, since you're getting bleed signal.
What does the signal look like up by the antennae? What errors are you seeing in the logs on the bridges?  Are there any trees that could be blown into the way?
    Cheers,
    Steve

  • Antenna for 3700 series

    Hi all,
I have done a lot of research regarding the best antennas for the warehouse but would like to hear your views on what I have chosen.
We are deploying in the warehouse and the ceiling is 10m high. We will be installing the 3700e and am eyeing the low profile omnidirectional antenna AIR-ANT2535SDW-R.
Well, one is because I read this: Choice of antenna as recommended by Cisco for the warehouse is that when configuring coverage for aisles, try to use directional (Patch) antennas on the wall and shoot down the aisles; or use low-gain Omni-directional antennas on the ceiling (such as dipoles) or units with integrated antennas because high gain omni-directional antennas tend to have more nulls.
And also there was a thread where Scott mentioned that he almost always goes for the omnidirectional. The guy there was deploying in a warehouse that is 12 m high.
Yes, I know that survey is best option. and no, I do not have an antenna or a 3700 to test. So basically, am looking for ideal figures. If the AP is to be mounted 10 m high, will this antenna handle it or otherwise? If not, what antenna is best?
Oh yer, also saw this from CCNP guide...
Antennas should not be too high (20 feet = 6m or higher ), otherwise, the client signal is seen as weak even below the antenna, and there is no clear difference in the client signal when close or far from the AP.
    How confusing! Please assist me.

    Hey Scott,
Thank you for taking your time to reply.
    1) What is the safe distance for the small profile omnis? Like up to 6 m up ?
    2) Read an earlier comment where you mentioned that best to use patches if you have a height of about 50" due to the signal bouncing back. Does that comment refer to only ceiling mounted patches or also wall mounted ones? If it refers to ceiling mounted ones, then doesnt that mean that we should not prefer it in this case?
    3) I am looking for a ceiling mounted option to cover from 12 m high...Due to cost, what would be your second option? The antenna you in the link is good but it basically radiates omni directional, meaning that the signal is also radiated above the ceiling, where I do not need it...
    4) Do you think the 2524 ones would be able to radiate from that high up?

  • 1310 with integrated antenna for 100M client conneciton

I would like to use as a AP to connect from my laptop which 100M away. Is it possible to use aironet 1310 with integrated antenna for this approach? Any experience?

Yes, You can use the 1310 device and configure it as a AP and connect it to your Wireless laptop. The Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor Access Point/Bridge is a flexible platform with the capability of access point, bridge, and workgroup bridge functionality.

  • AP1310 bridge w/Yagi antenna, repeater between two bridges

I have two sets of AP1310 bridge and yagi antenna to connect them but realized need a repeater between them due to line of sight.
I'm thinking purchase another AP1310 bridge with two Yagi antennas with pointing one(right) to Root and the other(left) to Non-Root. Is this valid solution? or advise please.
    Thanks,

I believe your throughput when using dual bridges in the middle will be very limited. The link from the central location to the first bridge in the middle will have one SSID and channel and the second bridge in the middle will have another SSID and channel. Also, if you do two bridges back to back, you should use channel's 1 and 11. Using channel 6 in close proximaty will actually overlap slightly into 1 and 11.
The link between the two back to back bridges will be 100M full duplex and therefore almost no loss of throughput.
The extra cost for the extra bridge is worth it.

  • Firmware crash on cisco 1310 Bridge while upgrade to higher version

    rgds,
    woo.

It appears that you are assigning IP address properly. For some reason we are not getting a response from TFTP server. This is typically one of 2 things:
    1. Firewall on the TFTP server workstation
    2. Connectivity issue between AP and TFTP server
I would check firewall settings on the TFTP workstation. Are you connecting the AP to the workstation directly or through a switch? If it is through a switch, you could plugin a different workstation to the AP switchport to make sure it could reach the server as well.

  • Which cisco wireless bridges support point to multipoint

hi all i am really new to wireless. i am looking for information as which cisco wireless bridges support point to multipoint configuration.
    i have a cisco 1230G access-point will it support the same .
    any help would be great.
    regards

    The Cisco 1300's and 1400's support point-to-point and point-to-multipoint. The 1230G can only support point-to-point (i think)

    Hi,
Following are the answers for your questions.
How often does this happen ?
This is happnenig two or three times in a day and mostly at eavening when the data traffic is high.
What is the distance between the bridges and RSSI ?
Distance is near to 600 mtr and RSSI is continously keep on changing between -51 dBM to -75dBM
Did this ever work without this issue or is this a new install ?
This installed one year before as a back up to my fiber link. This problem started recently only.
    Thanks,

Well its hard to find on which antenna you will be connected and which antenna will be sending you the RX or TX data. May be you can search of google and you might find any software which finds out which wireless antenna is sending RX or TX data.
