Omni graffle doesn't open .vsd documents.
I get sent a lot of visio documents that i need to open at work.
all of them have the .vsd extension but i downloaded the trial versions of omni graffle (standard) and omni graffle pro and with both versions, i get an error stating omni graffle can only open Visio documents with .vdx extensions.
is there another program that can open Visio documents with the .vsd extensions?
i did a search on the forum but what i didn't find the answer to my question. many suggested to try omni graffle but as i mentioned above, i tried that but it doesn't work.

i just downloaded and tried to open a file with a .vsd extension and it doesn't even recognize it.
i also tried drag and drop the file into the app and that didn't work.
i know that visio uses a M$ proprietary format and i am about to resign to the fact that no one has made a mac application that can open .vsd files.

Pages 2 is iWork '06, two versions behind what the iOS Pages creates. You need to use Pages '09 which you can purchase from the Mac App Store as a stand-alone application or a retail box of the iWork '09 suite.

Pages doesn't open (iCloud) documents
Pages on my iMac doesn't open my documents stored in iCloud. However, I can drag documents from iCloud to my desktop, then open them with Pages and save them in iCloud. Then I can't open them again..

I'm getting sick of this problem and it's ruining my productivity. I hope someone knows the solution to this problem.I have Pages ’09 v4.3 on OS X 10.8.4.
I just created a new blank document in the beta iCloud Pages. I then launched Pages in OS X and opened some boiler-plate latin text in a local Pages document. I copied and pasted this from OS X to the open blank document in the beta iCloud Pages. Next, I opened the Media tool in Pages v4.3 and dragged an image from there onto the iCloud Pages document and dropped it. I was then able to resize and position it with latin text flowing around it.
As there is no save/save as... ability in the iCloud Pages beta, I clicked on the blank icon and it updated. I then clicked on the name and changed it from Blank to another name.
Back in Pages v4.3, I chose the open dialog and switched it to iCloud. There was the document that I had created with the beta iCloud Pages. I selected it and was immediately opened in Pages v4.3. Then, locally in Pages v4.3, I selected another image and dragged and resized it in Pages v4.3. I saved it and watched it immediately update in the beta iCloud Pages document panel.
I was able to create a PDF in beta iCloud Pages and email it to myself. I was able to download the Pages document created in beta iCloud to my hard drive without dragging and dropping it.
I do not appear to be having issues creating, interacting, saving, updating, or emailing content from beta iCloud Pages, or between my version of OS X Pages and the beta iCloud version. -
Word 2007 doesn't open any documents.

Our team are running Outlook 2010 and all the other office apps in 2007.
However, Word 2007 always has a problem with opening documents.
It works, shows none of error messages and the Word 2007 window opens properly but just doesn't show any documents.
To open a document, I have to drag and drop a document in Word 2007 that I want to.
After this small bothering task, everything works really fine.
I have changed every settings and add-in that could cause this issue.
To solve this problem Word 2007 has to be removed and installed again.
I'm really struggling to fix this issue but haven't found any reason.

What I found was 2010 changed something in 2007 after Windwos Update.
This might be registries.
An error message box pops up saying 2007 got damaged when I try to remove 2007 from Programs and Features and the list of 2007 is just gone leaving all the functions and feature stayed on a computer.
Office 2007 still works after removing just 'the Office 2007 list' though.
In this case 2007 has to be installed(actually over-installed) AGAIN to write 2007's registry properly, remove 2007 than install 2007 again.
So annoying... to fix this issue, have to do this task...
As you mentioned, I need something to manage the registry and will read the description on the web page carefully.

PDF-Portfolio: link doesn't open a document in a new window

i use Acrobat 9 Pro on Win XP SP3.
I will use a link from a maindocument into a PDF-portfolio to another Portfolio document in the same file.
But the (linked) document should be open in a new window.
I can customize the option: targetdocument open in a new window, but this option/function doesn't work.
The document will always open in the same portfolio-window.
(Create link with link tool>add action>go to a page view in another doc> set link> edit action> open targetdocument in: a new window)

Is there a change to use a JavaScript in the link?

Eprint doesn't open word documents
officejet 8600 plus & mac 10.7.5
eprint (version 2.0.0) will not allow me to open anything but pdf. i can't open Word docs or images of any kind. any help?

Thanks for the post. I suspect this is a setting change on your system. I've included some great information below regarding ePrint. Word docs are supported if they meet the file size requirements. Images the same depending on format type and file size. Good Luck!

Yes, it is identified as as Adobe document at the site where it comes from. But as I told before, when I touch the screen "open with Adobe", I receive another one asking me to subscribe the paid version of the Adobe app, for US$ 7,50 by month. Or I receive a screen "open with Dropbox", wich is free but doesn't open the document at all. -
Can't open appleworks6 documents in pages09 after upgrade to lion
i upgraded to lion a few weeks ago and today tried to access an appleworks 6 .cwk word processing document in pages 09 and it returns an error saying it can not be opened because it is not a word processing document.
i have gone into 'get info' to set pages as the default application to open the document with no luck. i am absolutely sure it is an appleworks 6.2.9 word processing document. my pages application is up to date.
all of our older business contracts and word processing documents are appleworks 6 files. any ideas why pages won't open the document? everything i have read indicates that pages should have no problem opening the file. our spreadsheet files open fine with numbers.

Serious users took time to convert their documents before switching to the new operating system.
If Pages doesn't open the documents I'm quite sure that they aren't AppleWorks 6 WP documents.

When I try to click on a link to a document within a website, that document doesn't open like it should. For instance, if I go to the census website and click on a link to open an excel spreadsheet, Firefox doesn't do it. I just bought a new macbook pro and my CS6 migrated, but now when I open existing documents, it launches a free trial version. There doesn't appear to be a way to enter my serial number or communicate that I simply have a new computer. HELP! There is no customer support for this. I can't believe what a poor service company Adobe is!!
The problem was that you migrated CS6. Unfortunately, migration doesn't work because it doesn't move all the files.
First, you'll need to use the Adobe Cleaner Tool to remove the components that were installed:

I cannot open any documents in InDesign after downloading Yosemite. Says I need Java 6. I have Java 8 and still doesn't open.
It may seem strange indeed, but yes, you have to ALSO install the older version 6 for Apple's system; other applications will use your Java (which I believe is now even 9) and others will use that version 6.

All my Pages and Numbers documents on iCloud.com have suddenly become impossible to open. On iCloud.com (from IE10 or Google Chrome 40/Win 8) their file names appear scrambled (encrypted?) and if I try to open them I get this error message: "You have signed in to an iCloud account that doesn't have permission to open this documents". I can still open the files with Pages (2.5.2) and Numbers (2.5.2) on my iPad 2 (iOS 8.2). I haven't tried to access from my Macs.
I have tried to disconnect Pages on my iPad from iCloud, delete all files from Pages on iCloud.com, and reactivate the iCloud sync on my iPad. The files are uploaded but I still have the same problem.
I should say that I also cannot access my iCloud Drive ("Can't load iCloud Drive. There was a problem loading the application") or Photos (same error message).
The problem seems to be fairly recent as I have worked on my documents on iCloud.com for weeks without any problem (last successful access two days ago).
Since my last successful access I have updated my iPad to iOS 8.2 and modified a few Pages files from it.
Does anyone now what the problem might be?Goto settings, iCloud, click on your user account at the top, login with your password, if you can successfully login, you will see your files are no longer encrypted. I had this issue when I upgraded to 8.2 on my iPad, for some reason I had access to iCloud drive, but the files were encrypted, it never prompted that something was wrong with my token.
