Omni: 'Line in' upmix?

Hi guys,
Quick question about the Sound Blaster Omni: http://us.creative.com/p/sound-blast...i-surround-5-1
Does anyone know if it "upmixes" any 'line in' input so that it gets played through all 5 speakers of your 5.1 speaker setup connected to the omni?

I'm afraid the current USB-based Sound Blaster does not have the software implementation for up-mixing audio via Line-In.

Please select Line-In of Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 as the default Input for the Mac computer. It can be configured at Sound under the Mac System Preferences. I hope this helps.

SoundBlaster Omni - How to separate Line In from Mic Array in Win 8.1?

In Windows 8.1, in Control Panel, under Sounds, the Line In is disabled when the Mic Array/Mic In is enabled. So, apparently, for some strange reason, I can't have the mic work and play things from the Line in. If you look at the Omni Utility in the system tray and go to the Mixer, the Mixer combines Line in/Mic In/Mic Array with no option to separate them out. THIS means I can't use the Line In without it also playing everything heard from the mic. Directions say to listen to your line-in by changing settings via the mixer, but the directions are WRONG, because there is no way to separate out the Mic.
What I am trying to do, which I've done successfully using the on-board crappy Realtek sound from the motherboards of various PCs over the past dozen or more years, is have sound from my SECOND PC go to the Line IN on my MAIN PC, so I can have sound from both PCs play out of my main system's speakers or headphones - and still use my Mic (I play WoW/Use Ventrilo and Mumble).
Color me surprised that this is apparently something that I cannot do with an $80 SoundBlaster Omni USB sound card. Then, when I DO set it to just the Line in (which won't work for me when I need to use Ventrilo or Mumble), the sound quality is utter garbage compared to using the Realtek sound on my main PC. Really? How does this USB sound card offer LESS functionality with WORSE sound than the on-board sound from PCs I've owned?
Is there some magic workaround for this, because otherwise, it's going back to the store and I doubt I'll ever trust another Creative product.

It appears that the Targus case has a cutout that would allow you to charge the device with the cover closed. The HP case doesn't allow for that.
I wrote a review here on the HP case. I wouldn't recommend it. I should also note that the HP store personnel chose not to make my review public...seems there's some selective editing going on there which means I will never trust any reviews on that site.
You can search here for my whole review, but basically the HP case has a couple of problems.
1. It's very heavy for a case.
2. The holes don't line up particularly well with things like the camera (no matter how many times you adjust the tablet and tighten loosent the velcro closure.
3. The aforementioned charging issue.
4. You can't have any cables plugged into the device while in Stand mode (probably also an issue with the Targus).

As I have understood, OAS omni portlets understands only J2EE 1.3(oracle) web service (which is chosen on the first step of the making the service from PL/SQL). Since in the event of choice J2EE 1.3(JAX-PRC) OAS can not analyse the answer SOAP on elements.
I try return types:
1. xml. Kind of <rowset><row><id>1</id><name>John</name></row><rowset>.

Black Line going through middle of screen, getting bigger by the day.

Hi,
I was wondering if you would be able to help me fix this problem.
My HP Omni 120-1034 Desktop PC was working fine until 2 weeks ago when a thin lack line appeared through the middle of the screen going horizontally. It is getting darker and bigger as the days go. I just re-installed the Graphics Driver but that is not helping.

That sounds like the display panel which, as you might imagine, is hard to get at on an all-in-one. To be sure, on a laptop we would connect it to an external monitor but yours does not have an external monitor port. Replacement screens are about $130 on eBay.

hello
i think you cannot use the portal built-in packages inside omni portlets. Omni portlets is designed to connect to other data source (not only oracle) and Portal API might not be available at these data sources. Therefore, you should not be using these Packages at all!. i tried very hard, but to no avail.. Omni portlet has its own repository!! if you cannot pass the infomration as a parameter, then find a different approach

This is because the Omniportlet is actually operating within a different context--a separate database connection from the Portal connection. We have similar issues with Java portlets. You might try creating a public parameter on the portlet, then mapping that to the system variable USER (done on the Parameters tab of the page where you deploy it--if you don't see a parameters tab, you must enable Parameters and Events at the page group properties level). I haven't tested any of this, but it should get you going in the right direction.

Sound Blaster OMNI Surround 5.1 - input issue

Hi there all,
Purchased one of the above units today after sales person confirmed I could input three channels. I have three radios and wanted to take there mono output and put 2 into 1 for Line-In (Stereo) and 1 into Mic-in (Mono).
Have tried everything and can't have both Mic-In and Line-In active at the same time in Win7, reviewing manual and sales images its show you can attached to line-in and to Mic-in but does not say anywhere you can only use one at a time.
Can someone please confirm if its possible to use both Line-in and Mic-in at the same time or not.

My point in this project was to set up a surround sound system for my TV. To that point I bought RCA -> Stereo Mini plug and have my DVD plugged into the Line-in of the Li've! 24-bit sound card. After futzing about and finding the CMSS input I was able to get the rear channels enabled. My problem is that it Line-in seems to be ignoring the custom mix levels of the surround sound. Because of the proximity to the speaker while sitting on the couch, we set the Front(s) & Middle to 00% and the rear channels to ~45%. These settings are honored when playing MP3's, AVI's or DVD's from the computer; however, anything from the line-in ignores these custom percentages.
Am I missing something here or just mis-interpreting the way Line-in works. Is it driver related? Should I check the Drivers from the KXProject?
My current drivers are the "Creative Basic Audio Suite for Creative Sound Blaster audio devices" (35.59 MB) right off the downloads, dated 5 Jun 05. I never even tried the Driver CD that came with, I immediately upgraded to the newest.

With the set up you are doing you will not get true sound sound. Currently you are only getting a stereo signal from your DVD player. Ifyou put it into the Line-In on the speakers the audio will only come outof the front speakers. If you plug the DVD player into the Li've 24 Bit's Line-In again you really only are send a stereo signal to the sound card. However will CMSS enable it will upmix the stereo signal out to the other speaker as what it thinks is the rear and center audio but it is just simulated so depending on how the audio tracks are cut inthe movie then it may not sound the same as a true 5. surround sound. Now one thing you want to check is in Speaker Settings make sure the card is set to 5. not 7.. If you have it set to 7. the CMSS may try to send some of the audio to the side speaker and since you have a 5. system you may lose some of the upmix.
Now if you would like true 5. from your DVD Player you could hook the 6channel analog outputs to the speakers. However most likely you have a newer one that does not have the 6 channel analog but it should have a digital output of some type. If it does all you will need is something that will decode the 5. digital signal. With this you will get your true 5. surround sound from your 5. encoded movies. There is 2 thing you can get to do this ether you can get one of our Audigy 2 ZS PlatinumKits. The front dri've bay has connection for digital optical and coax connections. Another option is if you are not able to exchange the cards is get our DDTS-00 Dolby Digital Decoder.

I have one of these myself. This would connect between your sound card and the speakers. What you would then do is plug the DVD Player into the decoder box and it would decode the 5. signal and send it out to all your speaker with out you having to run the DVD Player to your computer. Also you can hook up your other audio devices to as well. This is what I use as the receiver in my living for my Entertainment Center. If you have any more questions let us know.

I have a problem that has me at my wits end. At one time this was working perfectly for me. Now the ONLY thing that will not work is my Line-in to my Audigy 2NX. When I use the Line-in i only get sound from the front 2 speakers of my 5. sounds system.
Everything else works fine (Winamp, Media Player, etc). I have verified CMSS is enabled, removed and reinstalled the software, replaced the device with a new one, all the way to formatting and reinstalling my system. No matter what the line-in only plays from the front 2 speakers. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't Agree with you on that one Jeremy. I had had Creative Labs for the past 8 or so years. I went to USB after my SB audigy 2ZS?pci card. st was Sound Blaster Li've 24 bit external, got cmss upmix from the line in, was great to watch movies and tv. this current upgrade?I just got to audigy 2NX external, there is only stereo true, which is ashame and a sham.

I would have been willing to ante up 5 to 0 dollars a year for creative to keep up with drivers, but as a musician, on a limited budget due to disability from stroke, with enough cogniti've remnants to post, the digital world is becoming a nickel a dime a person to death. SB Audigy 2 ZS and Line in process

I recently bought a HDTV and since I'm low on cash, I wan to find a way to?use my current Klipsch ProMedia 5.'s as my surround sound for televised HDTV and dvd's (through Xbox 360). I've gone over several different senarios, and was curious if I could connect the pre processed analog RCA's from my cable box/360 to my SB audigy 2 ZS cards line in (through RCA -->min jack cord) and have the SB card proceess the 5. off that...is that possible?Ex. Cablebox/360 RCA ---> RCA/mini jack cord ---> SB audigy 2 ZS "Line in" ---> 5. processing ---> output to ProMedia's. Besides the obvious reasons off skipping the $600.00 - $000.00?on a new A/V reciever and speakers, I was planning on placing my computer next to my tv...running dvi from the vid card to the tv and using it for basically everything...cable.360..computer. It is possible but it won't be true 5., it will be a prologic-like processing, if you are OK with the CMSS upmixing then go ahead. For a true 5. solution you can get the DDTS-00 decoder, it allows you to switch your speakers from the PC to several digital sources.

No sound in multiple applications with 5.1 upmix

I already did some research about my problem but I did not find a solution for my problem yet. I configured my .asoundrc so that I have a permanent upmix from 2.0 to 5.1. But with the current configuration I cannot have multiple applications play sound at the same time.

With this configuration Exaile gives an error on playback "Cannot open device for playback". VLC plays just stereo...
What I want to have is this:
Stereo should be upmixed to 5.1. But signals that already are 5.1 should not be changed. With pulseaudio on Ubuntu this was easy to do but I don't want to have pulseaudio at the moment. I had some trouble with it.
I tried some .asoundrc from this thread but they did not work.
Maybe someone can help me?

For some reason it shows nothing. Sound is still not working but the output of mplayer is different now:

VLC shows the same error and Exaile says "konfigured audiosink 'bin1' does not work". But in .asoundrc there is no "bin1"...

I noticed that nano messed the line breaks up. So longer comments started in a new line and were not commented of course. I fixed that. Now the output is:
