On a MAC with OS 10 how do I pinch, tap to make larger, and some other gestures that work on Safari but not FireFox

I can not do all the gestures when I am in FireFox. Example Pinch to increase or decrease size of window. Tap with two fingers to increase the size of window. The other gestures like scrolling, swiping etc work.

Hello Shona37a, if you have the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Places.sqlite places.sqlite] file probably you are ok. the places.sqlite file can be edit with SQLite Manager or a specialized editor BUT you can move it to a [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles#os=mac&browser=fx17 new profile], see informatinos in the above link.
also think if you must go to [http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ TenFourFox] for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 , it is more secure from your 3.6.18 that is unsupported.

When you change to the new router, did you re-run the CD to re-set the new SSID and password to the printer.
Otherwise your iPad will not be able "talk" to your printer.

Firefox has suddenly stopped connecting on one of three user accounts on the same computer. That account still connects with Safari - but not Firefox. A clean-install has not solved the problem. Help?

Three user accounts on the same computer all link to a single copy of Firefox 3.6.8 - but one of them has suddenly lost its ability to use the program. Firefox opens in that account, but it cannot connect to the Internet. 'Done' appears at the lower left of a blank Firefox page [it's set to load a blank page initially], as though a page had finished downloading ... but Firefox does not actually generate any Internet activityx.
Previously, the Firefox connection for this account was smooth and reliable. I haven't added, upgraded or downloaded any new programs, nor made any other computer changes in recent weeks or months.
Puzzlingly - that same account still connects successfully to the Internet via Safari. And the other accounts on the same computer continue to use Firefox with no problem - including a test user-account that I set up today to help troubleshoot the problem. The blockage is restricted solely to Firefox with that one user account.
Following your Support page instructions, I did a clean-install of Firefox 3.6.8, removing both the existing Firefox 3.6.8 and the Library/Application Support/Firefox folder. Going the extra mile, I checked all accounts to be certain that no Firefox folders remained in any of them - then emptied the Trash and restarted before installing a freshly downloaded 3.6.8. But blimey - the blockage still persists for that one user account.
Firefox shows no visible cookies that might influence the connection. [It's set to delete all cookies upon closing anyway.] And I see no obvious instructions in Mac's firewall or any software program to refuse access to Firefox. The computer is stand-alone, not networked. And in any case, Firefox works just fine in the two other user accounts.
Deleting the hobbled user account is not feasible. So what is causing this roadblock? Did I miss a step in the clean-install? How can that account resume using Firefox?

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (stores the update history).

How do I properly emulate the old statusbar and some other features?

I can see the "statusbar issue" have been discussed a lot, but couldn't find a satisfying answer.
I haven't used Internet Explorer for several years in benefit to Firefox. I hope I can keep it that way while I am also able to stay up to date at the same time.
After recently updated my FF 3.6(I think) to 4.0.1, and plenty of time trying to customize the new looks and location of bars and buttons etc to my likings, I need help with a few things:
1. How do I disable the "link hover preview bar" and make it appear on the Add-on Bar(the old statusbar replacement)?
2. How do I remove the X(close button) on the Add-on bar? I don't know if its only me, but something at the back of my head mistakes it for a pop-up or something else that needs to be closed. Very annoying to have to re-enable it every time.
3. How do I put a "border" around the new Add-on bar so it doesn't look like an extension of the webpage im currently at? The lack of a border might be the reason why I subconsciously think it's a popup. But even so, I still see no reason for the X.
4. The new colorless buttons/icons makes it easy to miss click (they all look too similar now), can I get them old ones back?
5. How do I make the Reload button and Stop button stay separate buttons instead of one combined button?
6. Lastly, I am used to have a button at the right side of the last tab to open a new tab. Now I need to add another button at the top instead. Or can I get the old "open new tab" feature back somehow?

Problem with .sitx files (Safari but not Firefox???)

Hi All,
I have a website online (with help from iWeb and BBEdit) but am having a problem I cant figure out (this IS my first website!)
I am hoping that someone much more knowledgeable than me can help me with it.
I basically have a download section. Icons and desktops.
Now, when I (or anyone else) tries to download- everything seems to be fine in FireFox (even IE!) but not in Safari.
My desktops are compressed as .zip files. No problems there, everyone can download and open (including Safari users!)
My icons are compressed as .sitx files. This is where the problems come in. Firefox and IE download them no problem ('save to disk?' etc) However when one attempts to download the icons (.sitx files) with Safari it simply displays pages of gibberish (starting with the word 'Stuffit') which I am presuming is Safari trying to 'display' the contents of the actual stuffit file.
Why is this? Why wont safari simply download the .sitx files as it does .zip files?
Does Safari have some sort of inherent problem with .sitx files? Is it some sort of configuration within Safari preferences? or (and probably most likely!) is it something I have done wrong?

It sounds like the server the website/file is hosted on is not identifying the type correctly. As you've seen, different browsers will handle this situation differently.

Flash with QT 7.3 works in Safari, but not in Firefox

Like many others here, I have been having issues with the upgrade to QT 7.3 and Flash. I've followed a few different suggestions from here on the forums, but I've only been able to get Flash working in Safari; Firefox remains mysteriously broken. Has anyone else been having issues with Flash in Firefox only?
I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.9 and Flash 9.0.47 (the latest version available for download from Adobe's site). I'm planning on upgrading to 10.5.1 soon, and while I didn't see the Flash/QT problem addressed in the list of bugs that it was supposed to fix, I still wonder if that might help.

Well, after about five hours retracing my steps, I finally figured out the offending code - it was the submit button.

Slide show works with Safari but not Firefox!

I'm baffled: I was swapping out some new .jpgs for my site's looping photo slide show on the top of every page, everything was working fine 2 days ago and then... nada. I didn't change anything to cause it AND it displays fine with Safari. I'm pretty sure I have all my plug-ins up to date etc., so WTF?!?!?! Thank you.

Perhaps "slideshow" isn't the best description (I am NOT a programmer). There are six images inside the wood-looking frame on the top of EVERY page, which used to cycle through on a loop. I can still see them with Safari, but although I didn't change anything when swapping out the jpgs a couple of days ago (and they worked fine until yesterday)... they're no longer viewable on Firefox. Again... WTF?!?!?

Dropbox attachment sync with yahoo mail works in Chrome but not firefox.

In the beginning on April 2013, Yahoo mail added the feature of attaching a files straight from dropbox. This feature works fine when I select it in Google Chrome. When I select the option in Firefox it opens up the little window and has the loading wheel. It just stays at that stage forever. Where as in Chrome the dropbox window opens in 2 seconds.
