On apple tv why are photos too large on slideshow

I set up album in my iphoto,
selected it on apple tv
why are some photos too large and chopping off top of photos?

When you first sync photos to your iPod, or everytime you add new photos, iTunes goes through a process of optimizing your photos for the iPod before actually sync'ing. You can see it countdown on the screen. The results are kept in the "iPod Photo Cache" folder.
I was under the impression that this optimizing was more a process of collecting together 25 thumbnails and putting them together in a single file together so that it enabled the ipod to show 25 pictures at once with the option to select one.. Are you sure the thumbnails are actually altered in any way.

  • PSE 6 slide show photos too large for TV screen

I have been collecting, scanning and saving family photos for over a year to create a slide show for my 81 yr. old Dad. I create a slide show with PSE 6, save to a CD and play on the TV. No matter what pixel size I resize the photos to they are still too large for the TV screen - not just one TV screen but different ones I try. I loose heads at the top, feet at the bottom, people on the sides. I have been researching but have not found the answer to solve my problem. Anyone have the answer or some suggestions I would be very appreciative.  Thanks.

Well, first of all, choose the right resolution and frame-rate...
Are you working in NTSC (30 fps), or PAL (25 fps)...?
Use one of the common DV formats /
if you choose HD, 1080i, then your TV must be able to recognize that format,
    otherwise images get cut off...
    Format                                           Rectangular Size              Square Size
    DV NTSC................................................720x480.............................. ...720x540
    DV PAL...................................................720x576............................ .....768x576
    HDV 720p..................................................NA................................. ....1280x720
    HDV 1080i.................................................NA................................. ....1920x1080
Stay with your chosen format through-out your whole project...
(PNG, TIFF or PSD), import those files into your video editor.
Depending on the Operational System (Mac or Windows), one has many choices...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_editing_software
After editing, import those files into your chosen Authoring software for burning,
they will take care of the appropriate compression.
(I would recommend burning to DVD, not CD, one will achieve much better quality...

Why are photos e mailled to me not coming through to my icloud.com e mail?

You may also want to check your space available as you only get 5GB free.  It's unlikely that this is what you are experiencing, but it can certainly cause you not to receive any emails that don't fit.

How do I get my web pages back to original size? My fonts are all too large and keep reverting after I change them back!

That has not worked. I do it and still it reverts. Isn't there a way to tell Firefox to just go back to default settings?

  • Why are photos save as .jpeg instead of .jpg?  Can this be corrected?

Why are photos save as .jpeg instead of .jpg?  Can this be corrected?  In certain applications I have to manually change the ending so that the application can open the photo.  Is there a setting to control to correct this?

When I mail photos (via GMail) from my iPhone they are received on my PC as .jpg files, even if sent at full resolution.  Perhaps your e-mail service has imposed an attachment size limit, and in the process scales the attached picture down and alters the file extension?
What happens if you e-mail a photo from your iPhone and open the message from a PC instead of the Surface?  What e-mail service are you using? (e.g. your ISP's service, or Yahoo, Gmail, iCloud, etc.)  When you send the photo from your iPhone, are you selecting a reduced resolution?

  • NoSquint properly resized web pages, but the upper taskbars are still too large--for instance, I can only the beginning of the URL. How to fix?

After the latest Firefox version magnified everything, I used the NoSquint add-on (at 60%), which now makes web pages look as they did before. However, although the top two bars at the top of the screen are of normal size, the lower ones are still too large. The bar that contains the URL on the left and a Google search space on the right, for instance, can display only the first couple of letters of a URL (after the //).
How do I make these bars look the way they used to? Thanks.

Hi Anne, there is a setting in Firefox that controls the scaling of both the toolbar area and the content area. I'm guessing that you have your Windows font setting at 150%. In that case, I'm going to suggest you try to manually adjust the scaling in Firefox to 125% and then set NoSquint to 80%.
    Here we go!
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''pix''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx''' and change its value to '''1.25''' for the equivalent of 125% font size in Windows display settings.
If you view a tab with an address bar and this is not quite right you can adjust it to a different value, such as 1.2 (120%) or 1.3 (130%).
Please do not go lower than 1.0 or everything will start to get tiny.
Once that looks right, you can go back into your NoSquint settings and up your global zoom level for content to a comfortable number.
Can you get it the way you want?

  • Bookmark arrow icons are suddenly too large and pixelated

Don't know what happened but the icons are way too large - Acrobat Pro 8 MacOS 10.9.1
How can I restore them to the original size ?

    Hello flexstone,
I think it could related to the imcompatiablity between Acrobat Pro and Mac OS X 10.9. It is not a supported version either. My suggestion would be to upgrade to the latest version.

  • Why are photos again available on the fotostream even that I have deleted them?

    Hi,
why are photos again available on the Fotostream, even that I have deleted them with using an iphone?

    Hi Ghallsa,
I don't know why you believe that emails would be using 6go if you deleted them all.  I think you concluded this from the available space left and what you know is using space.  You have to understand that what is taking storage space is not only apps, music and emails.  There is also the iOS which is taking space as well as a lot of data cached on your devices that will usually be shown as 'Other' category if you are to look at your space usage from iTunes.
If the total 'Other' space appears excessive, I suggest you should 'restore' your device (after a full recent backup); this sometimes helps to remove any data left behind.  But before this, try a look at Settings->General->Usage->Manage Storage.  This will list apps from the most space consuming to the less.  It could also help you to identify which apps may take to much of your precious space not only by apps size but also from the data the apps had stored.
    good luck,

  • Photos to large in slideshow and exceed the monitor display.

I have created a slideshow and the photos that are vertical or portrait are appearing too large to display instead of fitting to the screen. I have tried all aspects (tv, this screen, etc) and still the photo exceeds the display window. How do I fix this? I have ilife 09 version 8.0

This question probably be better in the elements forum. However if you crop or not depends on how much control you want for aligning the picture on the screen. In general the picture will fill the screen, But there will be times when you want to make sure a persons face is on the left 1/3 of the screen for example. When you crop or scale a picture is best to make sure it is the same size as the screen so there are no surprises.
Technically the apps generating the slideshow can determine if the full size photo will be a fill or fit, which is why its a good idea to scale or crop the photo's first. Fit means all the image will be in view and can result in bars either top/bottom or left/right. Whereas fill will scale a photo until the entire picture meets all four edges of the screen and can leave part of the image out of view.
As for what size to crop or scale to, that is depentant on the TV. Older TV's (pre-flat screen) were 720x480 or SD. Newer TV's are 1280x720 or 1440x1080.
Since you are burning to DVD and not Blu-ray you are limited to 720x480. Widescreen means the size of the pixel or the ratio I should say is no longer square which gives you a wide screen even though the resolution is the same.

  • Photos too large on face book

The new OS on my I pod touch current gen and current FaceBook Inc app has started making my photos on FB my Timeline too large, any ideas?. John

I have tried everything from deleting the app, deleting the app and logging out of Facebook from the settings, to looking for updates and info on the 'net and NOTHING.  This is not happening to everyone though.  I went to an apple store to see if they had some insight and two employees I spoke to couldn't offer any real solutions except for what I had already tried.  It is only on the iPod Touc, not the other devices.

  • IOS 4.2 issue, or App issue? Photos too large.

I spent two weeks in Japan, taking photos on my DSLR, and uploading them via SD card into the camera connector to the iPad. All worked fine.
I ran Photoshop Express and iOS3.2 (can't remember if it was 3.2.1 or 3.2.2), and was able to edit all the photos, and upload them to FaceBook, and all was well.
Since I've been back, I installed the iOS4.2 update, and an update to PS Express.
Now, all of the photos (including ones I had previously edited) cannot be edited in PS Express, it gives me a message "This photo is too large to be viewed".
Similarly, I've tried another program called Fluid FX, which either gives a similar message, or just crashes.
I've made sure there are no other apps running, have tried a hard reset, and nothing has helped.
I'm wondering if anyone might have any insights before I try downgrading back to iOS3 (and get back my orientation lock button, yay!).
(and yes, it seems another solution is just to take lower resolution images on my camera, but who wants to do that?)

I thought I had updated PS Express for iOS4, but checking the app in iTunes says:
    # Updated: 29 September 2010
    # Current Version: 1.3.2
    # 1.3.2 (iOS 4.0 Tested)
which is before the iOS4.2 release.
Fluid FX has been updated for iOS4.2

  • Why are my aliases larger than 4k ?

I just set up a whole lot of image files in a special alias folder. I expected each alias to be 4k in size. About 10% are 4k, the rest are between 44k and 56k.
The originals are all Photoshop JPEGs, created in Photoshop 2 and Photoshop 7.
I thought an alias was just a file pointer. Why are some of them so large? Is there any way to make them smaller? They are taking up way too much space on my USB thumb drive.
    iMac G5 17" 1.5Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Ok Niel - so far, so good. I have done what you suggested, and yes I now have a folder of 4k aliases - so thank you for that idea.
The one small problem is that there is no icon of the image that the alias represents, at least not until I click on the alias name in column view, when it shows up nicely. But in list view, icon view, or unselected in column view, I can't see what it is. Is there any way around this? I have tried using Get Info to paste the image into the icon field, but it won't let me do it, and I suspect that would increase the size to more than 4k. What I want is the old OS 9 system that would create a 4k alias AND give me a tiny image of the file as well.
If I really can't do it, then I will have to live with using the filename alone, but at least I have 4k aliases.

  • Why are Updates so large?

Why are iTunes updates for Windows so large in file size? Downloading a fresh version of iTunes + Quicktime is currently a 55mb download. However, the Automatic Updates that I am prompted for regularly are always around 65-70mb in file size. Why so big?
Is this a hint of poor coding for the Windows version of iTunes? A patch should be no where near the size of the original download, much less LARGER.
    Thoughts?

Well, duh. The point is why. Designing software (that they know will have regular updates) without a patch system in-place is obviously a poor design choice.
And why the 'update' is consistently larger than the original full download is beyond ridiculous. I can download 7.6.1 from apple.com/itunes for 55mb, or I can let the automatic update run and be a 65mb download. Makes no sense.
I guess I can't expect a real answer to this (unless a representative from the Apple team is aware of why such a ridiculous decision was made) - but figured I'd rant about it anyway.
