On-Board video and AGP conflit? Possible?
Hey all,
I just got this board today and it works great except that my ATI 9500 Pro will not work? My PC will not give an image with my ATI card inserted but the PC still boots? But if I hook up my video cord to the on-board video with my ATI card still installed, the same thing happens...boot with no image. When I pull out my ATI and hook up the cord to the on-board, it works great. Does the ATI, or any AGP card that is installed, automatically disable the on-board or? I can't seem to get my ATI going...maybe it's fried? Not sure how that would happen but....thanks in advance for the assistance!

Maybe not dead, just incompatible?Try it in another system before shelving it.

K7N2G-ILSR: On-board video too unstable to use
Putting together a new computer for my son. Using K7N2G-ILSR and was really looking forward to the onboard video. Using Athlon XP 2100 (from my prior machine -- 100 percent solid CPU) and initially bought Corsair 2700 256MB with the new board. As an immediate downer, the board refused to work with the memory (nonstop beeping/D-LED stuff, etc.) at power up (tried all slots -- same result). Observation: this compares very unfavorably with my highly-favorable experience with Soyo boards, by the way. Swapped out that memory with Kingston 2700 256MB from my daughter's machine, which is running Soyo Dragon Lite.
Ok, so after some immediate (and unnecessary) memory hassle, got system to boot. CPU is running fine and cool at 50 deg C.
Next (BIG, BIG) problem: Onboard Video is WAY, WAY too unstable in Windows 2000 to be usable. At the outset, the video is showing random horizontal streaks (of trash) across the screen. The only time I've seen that before in my 15 years of PC use is in a Diamond video card a long time ago that was also defective. However, I can live with streaks. The problem is that the machine crashes every time, 100 percent of the time, within 15-90 seconds of booting into Windows 2000 (SP3). (Of course, used latest video driver from a web site, different settings, different refresh rates, and all the other usual stuff, etc., etc., etc.) By the way, I had the patience to try this with and without SP3, and tried a zillon different bios settings. Nothing worked -- same immediate crash problem. Also booted into safe mode and same deal -- but at least that confirms that the problem is probably underlying hardware-related problem, not software/driver problem. (If it can't run under generic Windows VGA driver, then it probably can't run under anything else.)
Only solution is to swap in an existing AGP card. That solves the problem 100 percent but I am not exactly happy camper since I paid for the on-board video (and for budget reasons the card that I am swapping in is not exactly cutting-edge.)
If anyone has a silver bullet fix for this, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, I will assume that the onboard AGP is defective and/or poorly designed, whereupon I would have been better off not spending the extra money for it. My best guess is that the memory and/or other video circuitry is defective.
Otherwise, happy with the underlying performance of the motherboard itself but the video fiasco is a BIG letdown. :O
Thanks.SILVER BULLET FOUND!!! (and it was free) BIG, BIG, BIG cigar to Bikeman for his above post, which focused my attention on the BIOS. Had considered it at the outset, but figured there was no way I was going to need to flash a brand spanking new board. But when you read the BIOS update notes, one of its fixes is with Kingston memory which is currently in the board. Recall from above, however, that Kingston was a fallback as board complained bitterly about the Corsair memory that I bought with the board. (My daugher's Dragon Lite is quite happy with either memory.)
So here's the rundown. Actually couldn't see what bios ver. I had at POST as text went by way too fast. So install live update software which confirmed that I had older v. 1.2 bios. (Interestingly, the live update itself was old enough that it itself had to self-update before I could use). Flashed BIOS to 1.3 using the Windows version of update, which I will report worked real smooth.
Rebooted and proceeded to install fresh nVidia driver from nVidia website. However, I can tell you that the BIOS was definitely the problem because before I wouldn't have been able to easily get to the point of installing video driver without 5-10 crash/reboot cycles -- so the new-found stability made it very clear that the BIOS update was the "silver bullet" I was looking for.
Postscript impressions: (1) MSI boards are VERY finiky about memory (which is a problem that I have never had with Soyo boards), and (2) this is the 2nd MSI board I have bought and the 2nd one that has had severe bios issues. The first board was a low-end A socket board with AMI bios that arrived faulty/trashed -- half way thru POST, bios would start spitting out garbage ASCII characters.
Again thanks again to Bikeman for saving me from spending any more money (on psu or other memory) and for letting my son's system now run 8X AGP. -
USB Ports and AGP Video Card on same IRQ
I've got a tough one. I have 6 USB ports. Call them 1,2,3,4,5,6. Ports 1 and 2 work fine with my new USB 2.0 80GB External Harddrive. This pair of ports 1 and 2 are direct into motherboard.
However system crashes when I plug USB 2.0 External Drive into ports 3,4,5,6. These are Dports with cables that plug into the MB. One of these Dports has the four error lights which are all green. Western Digital has cautioned against sharing this drive with other IRQs. Says that the video card and the WD harddrive require dedicated IRQs...but I have no control of how W XP assigns them.
Ports #3-6 work fine with mouse, scanner, and printer etc. However they fail when trying to use WD External Hardrive.
I also checked IRQ settings and IRQ 16 is used for a USB Port and for my MSI AGP video card. I believe this conflict is the cause of the problem.
So help..how do I fix this dilemma?
I have Windows XP and see no way to change IRQs.
BIOS does not even show IRQ as a choice..only 1-15. Also BIOS is latests version for my MSI 845G Max L MS-6580 mother Board. USB drivers are all Intel. Video Card Is MSI AGP MS-8878 G4Ti/MX 420 w TV out. Bios and Drivers are current.
How can I run the USB 2.0 External Harddrive in Ports 3-6?I did load new Intel INF Drivers and AGP drivers yesterday.
No luck USB Ports 3-6 still fail with External Hard Drive.
I'm not clear on how to turn back on AICP or ACIP. BIOS?
Also not IRQs 16-23 are listed with active devices on the Device Manager
16 has a USB Controller at 24c2
16 also has AGP video card
17 has Audio '97
17 also has Fast Eternet.
18 has USB Controller at 24c7
19 has USB Controller at 24c4
23 has PCI to USB Interface.
Port 3-6 do work fine with mouse, dig cam, Scanner, printer. These ports only fail with External Harddrive plugged in. Ports 1and2 work fine with external HD??
So question is how do I check on the IRQ ports using AIPC or APIC...or whatever the name is...thanks folks. -
Yeah so I previously deleted videos and recently had to do a factory reset because the phone was freezing on me. I hadn't ever backup up my phone, so is there any way to retrieve the videos?
Anything is possible. Some things. like recovering those videos, are just not very likely. What is likely is that a friend who "plays with data retrieval and forensics software" is likely to create problems with your phone.

In fcp7 there is a "close gap" option so you don't have to highlight and move everything every time you delete a small section in the middle of a video. Is it possible to do this in fcpx? I can't seem to find it...Thanks!
This isn't the actual clip, I fixed it by highlighting and moving everything over but it'd still be a good thing to know for the future. This is essentially the situation i'm talking about. I would never use it for something this simple, but when more complicated editing is being done it isn't so easy to just move all the clips over.

I can't find where I can change this in Finder or OSX. Is this really hardoded in the OS? Get Info gives me no options, but that is where I set the default apps for file kinds (types).
I hope this is possible because I have lot of document kinds and the arrange by kind view in Finder is thus not very useful.

You can set preferences using the tool that you created the video with/
For example, if you are using Adobe Captivate you can set videos to start automatically?

Hi - Re Keynote I'm trying to figure out how to create a music album (as an artist) on USB flash drive, (accessible by both Mac and PC). What I want is a background picture with 'click-buttons' to play each track listed, and play in order (like a cd) - also similar for embedded videos and photos etc. This should all be on the one page.
Is this possible with Keynote, or any other software package for Mac (am using Macbook Pro) ?

I am shooting aerial video with a GoPro H3+ at 1080p 30fps and would like to edit videos and give them to my clients to use in as much media as possible for their advertising and marketing needs. I would like to give it to them at the highest quality allowed. What form should I save it in 'Publish and Share'? I have Premier Elements 12.

Can we assume that your 1080p30 is an AVCHD.mp4 file or other?

(If your frame rate is really 30 instead of 29.97, then go with DSLR 1080p30 instead of DLSR 1080p30 @29.97)

Help out? i was watching a 43 min episode and it works fine in the first like 20 minutes but later on in freezes, it turns the screen completely black afterwards, there's still sound, but theres no video, the screen is completely black while audio continues to play. How to fix this? and what were the possible causes for this?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Delete/unsunc he video and then resync/redownload
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

Is it possible to group video and audio tracks separately in the timeline?

Since I get to use both Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro frequently at work, I would find it more natural if audio and video were grouped separately.You are welcome.
I find it interesting, as about 10% of the users of PrE would like to arrange the Audio & Video Tracks in the form of PrPro, however, about 10% of the users of PrPro would like to arrange them like PrE!
Personally, I find the PrPro arrangement (as you were requesting) to be the most logical for my workflow. I do my Video first, and like all Tracks grouped atop the divider line, and when done there, move down to my Audio. I still get lost and confused in PrE, because of the grouping there.
Now one little tip, that might help you a bit: one can Add, or Delete Tracks pretty easily. I have a Sequence (think multiple Timelines in PrE) Preset that gives me 4 Video Tracks, 1 mono Audio Track, 4 stereo Audio Tracks, and a DD 5.1 SS Master Track. This is the "average" of the normal Timelines that I work with. When doing an edit, where the extra Tracks are not needed, I choose Sequence>Delete Unused Tracks to "clean" things up a bit. Then, I am only looking at Tracks (Video and Audio) that are in use.

Is it possible to transfer music, videos, and pics from iTouch to iTunes?
The PC I am using was reformatted due to some viruses present. Together with the files that were deleted was my iTunes software. Right after the PC was restored, I downloaded iTunes. I was wondering if I could transfer the music, videos, and pics in my iTouch to my new iTunes library. If not, what else can I do? Please help.

I am rebuilding (ack!) my clone PC using a MSI 65IM-V M/B. So far, so good. But I am wanting to install a new AGP video card. I am some what rusty at this so forgive my ignorance, it's been a while.
Should I disable the on-board video graphics chip and uninstall the drivers first? I can't locate my M/B manual. Would appreciate a kick start here.

Shutdown your system after this, do not restart.
Slot in your VGA card, start the system > Hit Del to BIOS > Integrated Pheriperals > Onboard graphic > Disable > Save and Exit. You'll be prompted to install the drivers in windows but I would strongly suggest that you download the drivers from nVidia Drivers for nVidia cards or ATi Drivers for ATI cards and do the installation maunally.
Sounds about right. Running Windows 2000, device manager is under a differant file name I think....
