On boot up, volume is always set to maximum

When I boot the computer, the volume is always set to maximum. I normally run it about 50% but it will always be at max when I boot up.

Hi all,
I was wonder if anyone has this problem before.
When you are logging onto a user account in Vista, first the brightness of the current powerplan takes over the brightness. Then the brightness goes to maximum a little bit after (it seems like it goes to full brightness when Intel Graphics Media accelerator loads up)
I've read the exact same problem from someone using XP, and the BIOS update (2.07-1.08) fixed it for them. Unfortunately I have updated the driver but the problem still exists.
Anyone have any idea or suggestions? I've checked the Intel driver and its at its latest update too.

I think it must be a combination of the Intel display driver and how the default power scheme brightness is applied during startup.
For anyone who finds this thread and has the same issue:
1) create a 'custom' powerplan setting as elaborated by dennischan
2) you might need to update your BIOS to 2.07-1.08 and Intel display adapter (it worked for another person, see thread below

EXS24 samples won't boot: "Specified Volume Doesn't Exist"

My sample library is in my external drive... I scanned the whole thing in Project Manager, which took forever, and I saved it...and I was able to use the samples on EXS24.
But when I reboot Logic, only the samples that were recorded are recognized...
when I try to pick a new sound I get the most lovely message:
"Specified Volume doesn't exist:
Result Code -35"
any suggestions pleez?

Thank you very much for reading my post and for the suggestion... I already have chosen this setting... in addition, I have "Search Project Manager Database and Search Engine" also chosen in that window, and after I boot Logic, the computer always goes through the "updating tree" process.
But I still get the same error message.

Volumes and raid sets disappeared

I booted my machine and it gave me a question mark folder I booted it off an external drive but the internal bay hdds arent mounting. When I was looking through raid utility it says they are all good and viable disks in roaming but no raid sets or volumes are there anymore. This all happened to my xserve (2008 2.8ghz 4gb ram) Three apple brand hdd at 1TB(in a raid 5 configuration) the os I had installed on the external hdd was 10.5.3..... any ideas or thoughts to getting the raid sets or volumes back.... also Disk utility still doesnt recogonize the three internal bays is that cause for concern or do you have to have a raid set and volume before disk utility to recogonize it. Thank you for your time and insight to my problem!

Is it a known but that the outgoing SMTP user ID is always set to the same as the incoming even when set differently?

I'm trying to figure out where to report this: I keep noticing that when I setup a new account and I set the incoming and outgoing user names differently, the outgoing one never is honoured; it always sets it the same as the incoming one and I have to manually go into the outgoing settings to change it. Just wondered if this was known, thought it might be worth reporting.

Slowly I'm beginning to get the impression that "bug" is the word for "user error" or "user inexperience" in your language.
You're looking at colors in the histogram because that's what you have chosen in the dropdown:

The volume always starts at maximum

whenever I start any application which requires audio such as games,youtube,music etc..the volume always starts with maximum..I have to reduce the volume everytime.....it really annoying especially when headphone is used..how can i avoid this...

i tried that..but not working....the volume still starts at maximum...Even when i starst a youtube video at 30% volume and forward the video a little bit the volume goes to mmaximum...any application when i opeen violume starts at maximum...when forward it or start again the volume goes to maximum...

In application builder the top level vi is always set to "run when opened"; how do I turn this off so I don't have to change it each and every time I build a .exe??

I build a lot of executables using Application Builder under LabVIEW and in every one I build, I don't want the top level vi to take off and run when I open the executable. Currently, I edit each .exe I build within Application Builder and change the option of "run when opened" from Yes to No for the top level vi. All the other subvi's are already set to No. It would seem as though there should be some way to "turn this off" if you will so the top level vi is not always set to "run when opened" by default within Application Builder. Is there such a solution that anyone knows of?? Any help would be apprec

Indeed the Application builder forces "run when opened" to true for top levels VIs. If you don't want your VI to make any real work when the application starts, you should simply put a do-nothing loop in the beginning of the VI that will loop until the user presses a boolean. It will be more intuitive for users to press a Run button on the FP than clicking on the white Run arrow in the bar.

IPod Shuffle: How to set the maximum volume limit

How do I get back to the volume default I set at the onset of using my shuffle?
I have speakers in my Ski Helmet and would now like to turn up the volume louder than I have currently set for my in ear earpods.
Any help is appreciated.

Setting the Maximum Volume Limit
You can set a limit for the maximum volume on iPod shuffle. You can also set a
password in iTunes to prevent this setting from being changed by someone else.
If you’ve set a volume limit on iPod shuffle, the status light blinks orange three times if
you try to increase the volume beyond the limit.
To set the maximum volume limit for iPod shuffle:
1 Set iPod shuffle to the desired maximum volume.
2 Connect iPod shuffle to your computer.
3 In iTunes, select iPod shuffle in the Source pane.
4 Click the Settings tab.
5 Select “Limit maximum volume.”
6 Drag the slider to the desired maximum volume.
The initial slider setting shows the volume the iPod shuffle was set to when you

Where did you read that?

The sizing give there is for the initial system setup. It does not contain customer specific requirements.
The usual process is:
- you contact your hardware vendor
- you use http://service.sap.com/quicksizer together with him and fill in the data
- the hardware vendor will offer you the storage and the machines for the setup
- the vendor configures with you the storage and the necessary filesystem layout based on that sizing
Each customers setup is different and requires the experience and knowledge from the respective hardware vendor how to set up the system so it performs well.
You can follow the suggestions given here, this will be enough for the initial setup but the system will grow. This is not taken into account in the installation guide because it's customer specific.

What is the error? Are you following the Bootcamp instructions? Where on the "internet" are you trying to install from? Did you try downloading from here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/downloads/?

Do you mean is it possible to destroy your system from the Terminal? Anyone that has spend long enough working with Unix from a command line knows that answer. Yes! And a painful lesson it has been for many of us.
The real question is, what is your goal?
If you just want to erase lots of files, then the 'rm' command is available. Once all the files are erased, the rm command will be one of them, and so that is the end of the game. You will not be able to execute any more commands. The file system is still there, and the data in all those files is still on the disk, you have just eliminated the easy way to access that data (via file names).
If you want to initialize a new file system on the disk, you could most likely do that (diskutil - it will be the last command you run from the terminal, but you could most likely do it). Again, the data is still there, but the file system structure that held all the names and allocation information has been eliminated.
If you want to securely erase the disk, that is also possible (diskutil), and again, that will be the last command you will run from the terminal. Now nothing is left behind, neither data nor file system structure.
What sort of command would/could allow this?
rm and diskutil come to mind (in combination with sudo).
You could also just boot from the installation DVD, and then from the Menu select the Disk Utility and erase the disk as well as give it a new file system. And since you are running from the OS stored on the DVD, you can do other things after the Disk Utility is finished.

Most of the time you see something like that. The image in question has a color profile other then sRGB. Some image viewers/displayers are color managed and others are not. So the image do not look the same in all of the applications you use. So colors seem to change.
Try converting it to sRGB color and see if then looks the same all around. Also I think PC and Mac displays are set to different gamma something like 1.8 and 2.2
Though I'm colorblind I even see color variations.
