On certain pages, my screen is flashing just happened I have it for now about three years
my screen is flashing on certain sites, or parts of some (images, grpahics, etc...). It just happened suddenly
Open System Preferences > Universal Access
Select the Hearing tab.
If the box next to; Flash screen when an alert sound occurs is selected, deselect that then restart your Mac.
If the box was not already checked, just to rule out any hardware issues, run the Apple Hardware Test

Th problem with HD video is it needs a fast external interface, so you should pick a external drive that uses the fastest interface your computer has to offer.
Performance rank fastest to slowest is
Thunderbolt, USB3, (newer Mac's)
Firewire 800, USB 2, Firewire 400, USB 1 (older Mac's)
Newer Windows PC's have USB3, older one's USB 2,1.
You need to format the drive if it comes FAT which a lot do, as FAT has a 4GB file size limit, so this won't work with large HD video files.
So if your going to use the drive only with a Mac, then head to Utlities > Disk Utility and format it Options: GUID Format: OS X Extended Journaled. (select the drive makers name and click Partition tab)
If your going to use the external drive with a PC, take it to the oldest PC you have and right click and format exFAT.
If you have a Windows XP machine and there is no exFAT, it can be downloaded for free from Microsoft.

I have a 4 year old macbook pro and when I turn it on, the screen and fan come on but there is a flashing question mark folder that appears. Nothing beyond that point....help?
There is no installed OS or you have a dead hard drive. Start by booting from the original installer disc that came with the computer or an installer disc that has a later version than the original such as a Snow Leopard DVD. Then you can do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. -
I cannot print certain web pages while in Firefox. It is not a printer problem as I checked by printing the pages in IE and they print fine.

http://I have reset the selected printer in my Firefox preferences as described in the link that was sent from the-edmeister.
I am still having problems printing. All I see in the print preview is the address link on top of the page and that is all that prints.
I have tried using the print-selection also with no luck.
My printer works with any other application such as Word or Excel.
This all started after I updated Firefox to Ver. 3.6.3
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks -

Why does my IPad 3 tell me I have no SIM card. This just happened after owning it for 2 yrs
When I just turned on ipad3 no SIM card came up on screen. This has not ever happened. Went to settings and cellular data but cannot get in. Turned off and on still showing no SIM card. Should I take it to Verizon to check out SIM card?
Remove and re-insert the SIM.
Replace the SIM.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation. -
Just did a sync on my phone after 2yrs. all my contacts are gone and so are the texts. also old contacts from a former email address are in there now. how can i fix this?

My flash player seems to have glitched for youtuber
My web browsers: firefox and chrome
My OS: Windows 7
Flash ver.: lastest update.
I don't know what happened but the player keeps turning into that, its a bit ugly and annoying...
It only happen on youtube, really. every time I try to view a video that's not on a created playlist, the video player turns into that. I tried testing it on twitch, vimeo and so on and so far it's only really messed with youtube.

My internet explorer stoped working, i got to the point where i reinstalled windows.
Certain pages work well others will just not open(of course the majority are websites that i use for work(insurance)).
No other browser can open this certain pages.
Majority of the time i have no problem surfing the web. 1 week ago i had no such problem.
So:
Fresh windows.
Updated the computer.
No additional software installed.
changed the TWC modem.
Flashed ip address, released and renew ip address, everything possible has been done.
CAN IT BE A HARDWARE PROBLEM????

By saying "No other browser can open this certain pages", do you mean that page is only configured to open in Internet Explorer or it means the page just can't open due to the connection problem?
And what is your Internet Explorer version and your operating system version?

Certain pages aren't opening in safari
certain pages aren't opening in safari when they have worked before. I havent got any extensions loaded and most pages work fine but its a select few that wont load and they're working on my iPhone.
Example? What happens when you try to load these pages?

A problem has just started with my IPAD Air after 3 months of use.
If I try to open Safari by tapping on the icon the screen briefly flashes white but does not display the page.
Similarly if I try to open Settings page, Mail page, Calendar or Clock the screen just briefly flashes but the Apps do not run.
Some of the Apps do work on tapping the icon e.g. Maps, iBooks, Appstore, iTunes, Newstand etc.
I do have some website links which display when the icon is tapped e.g. John Lewis but some links do not work.
I have ensured that the ipad is fully charged, powered it off an on again, and cleaned the screen with a lint free cloth but the
same problem keeps occurring.I saume you used a second display at one time, otherwise the Display settings wouldn't be treating your primary display as a secondary.
IF you open your System Preferences>Displays (-System Preferences) and click "Gather Windows" it should pull everything to the display on which you clicked it. -
When I click on some buttons on certain pages of certain websites, there is no response and "javascript:void(0)" is flashed in the status bar; then "Done". When I click on same button on same site/page in IE, it works fine. Have detailed one site/page but this is not the only one. I am not a developer, just a user, so please keep it simple!

Make sure that you do not block [[JavaScript]]
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
