On-Demand picture kinda fuzzy

I have noticed that the movies that I play from the on-demand guide for subscription channels have a very different look.  The picture is usually somewhat fuzzy compared to regular programming.  What's the deal?  Anyone else had this problem?

Does anyone know if Verizon (a) puts out customer surveys and (b) responds to them in any meaningful way? I just tried three different non-HD movies and they're unwatchable because they're so blurry.  To say you offer the most HD is great, but let's be honest, without paying a lot extra, there aren't a heck of a lot of useful HD channels. Without getting all of the premium channels (we get the non-HBO/Cinemax package, whatever that's called) that cuts back even more on HD content.  All of that would be fine if the "standard" on-demand movies, shows, etc. were of decent quality, but they're absolute crap.  I can't believe it, but Comcast had more offerings for OD and much better quality.
Come on Verizon, plenty of customers are complaining, but I have yet to see a response ... be it an actual change in service or at least anything more than lip service to future plans.  How is it you can be content to be compared to Comcast and to come out in second place?

  • PICTURES ARE FUZZY WHEN IMPORTED TO DVD DISC

I'm new to creating dvds.  Pictures are fuzzy when imported to dvd disc ( memorex DVD-R).  What am i doing wrong?

    Hi
Hard to say as You don't suply any info on
    • What photo file format, size You use
    • How You go from photo to iDVD
And ! - Please do not Yell ! - Capitalized letters = Yelling in most forums and here a low and polite conversation most often will get better and more rapid results.
    Some thoughts about DVD Quality
    • DVD can only be SD-Video what ever tool used to encode it. And that is much less than what Your Mac screen can show.
    • Tools used to create the SlideShow - give a very different (quality) result
iMovie'08 to 11 - discard every second line = less resolution
iMovie HD6 and FinalCut - full interlaced video over to iDVD (as good as it can be)
FotoMagico™ _ Great and even more so if result is burned as a Blu-Ray Disk
Some notes follows - if You are of interest.
    DVD quality
    1. iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1)
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus  less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    About double on DL DVDs.
    2. Video from
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not self-containing, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly eg x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09  this can also be set)
This can also be done with Apple’s Disk Utilities application.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc).
    5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVD at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while before next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • DVD is a standard in it self. It is Standard Definition Quality = Same as on old CRT-TV sets and can not
    deliver anything better that this.
HD-DVD was a short-lived standard and it was only a few Toshiba DVD-players that could playback.
These DVDs could be made in DVD-Studio Pro. But they don’t playback on any other standard DVD-layer.
Blu-Ray / BD can be coded onto DVDs but limited in time to - about 20-30 minutes and then need
    _ Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl. BD-component
_ BD disks and burner if full length movies are to be stored
_ BD-Player or PlayStation3 - to be able to playback
The BD-encoded DVDs can be play-backed IF Mac also have Roxio DVD-player tool. Not on any standard Mac or DVD-player
Full BD-disks needs a BD-player (in Mac) as they need blue-laser to be read. No red-laser can do this.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx. 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • How it was recorded - Tripod vs Handheld Camera. A stable picture will give a much higher quality
    • Audio is most often more critical than picture. Bad audio and with dropouts usually results in a non-viewed movie.
    • Use of Video-editor. iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not the tools for DVD-production. They discard every second line resulting in a close to VHS-tape quality.
iMovie 1 to HD6 and FinalCut any version delivers same quality as Camera record in = 100% to iDVD
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JES_Deinterlacer_3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are play-backed by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choice before Pro Quality)
    Yours Bengt W

  • When using iPhoto edit, pictures are fuzzy

When I download photos from my SD card they are downloaded clear, then I hit edit in iphoto and pictures are fuzzy. In Apeture and Preview they are clear.

You should be able to click and drag/drop the albums into the order you wish.

  • Iphoto library pictures all fuzzy

All was fine until I upgraded to iOS4.0. The pictures that are synchronized with iphoto library (one folder of about 1000 pictures) are all fuzzy and out of focus. The pictures (some of the same picture) still on the camera roll are fine in the iphone but all the archived pictures are too fuzzy to use.

oups! sorry!! i thought i had synchronized already but did not!!
    the problem has been fixed

  • On Demand picture is scrambled on some stations

When I attempt to watch a program on demand on NBC, CBS or ABC the picture is scrambled. I was watching a show and it was fine, had to get out and when I went back to finish it, the whole picture was scrambled. I tried changing to SD from HD but that too was scrambled. However, cable stations (TBS, TNT, Nick at night) came through fine.

Try performing the Fix FiOS TV Issues in the Main Menu>>Customer Support>>Top Support Tools area.  This corrected a similar issue for me.

  • On Demand picture quality....shocking

Hi all, first time poster as only just started with BTVision. Everything seems fine, except the picture quality of the On Demand section - its awful. Blocky, jerky, pixellated - considering its a large part of what we pay for, im distinctly underwhelmed.
Also - where are the HD programmes? Before i joined there was a list of available programmes such as Planet Earth in HD...i sure as hell cant find any, many 2 or 3 films at £5 a go - where are Terminator/Star trek etc as listed on the website?
If this is good as it gets, i'll be heading back to Sky ASAP.

  • Screen picture went fuzzy

What do I do? My iPod screen went b/w and very fuzzy.  Looks like a tv screen that's been hit.  Didn't drop it or anything else.  HELP! Can't live without my iPod!

At times, my x230 screen looks like the photograph you attached. Only, mine affects the entire screen. Is there a solution for this issue? Thanks for your input.
Call Lenovo and request a new case, it wouldn't be a faulty ribbon cable if it looks like that. More like some failure somewhere in the motherboard. Try connecting it up to an external monitor and see if it happens there too.

  • Iphoto pictures turn fuzzy

I have my photos in iphoto and usually take them to imovie and make movie clips of them when I get enough. They look great in iPhoto and then when they show up in iMovie they are fuzzy and distorted any ideas? This is the first time I have tried this with iPhoto 6 and iMovie. I have the latest updates.

    gkcraig:
That's because in iPhoto the files are rendered with square pixels like the monitor. iMovie renders them in a rectangular pixel that's designed for TV sets. It's the nature of the beast.

  • My daughter and I have iPhone 5, I update mine and my pictures are fuzzy, she did not update her phone and her camera is clear and sharp, why?

my camera use to take a beautiful sharp clear photo, since updating to iOS 8 my picture quality is poor, why has this happened? what can I do about it.

    Roz53,
Thank you for your reply.  The section that I included has a couple more steps than restarting the phone.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
If you have gone through every step in that section, click on the link below to reach out to us.

  • Does anyone know why the lockscreen picture is fuzzy on IOS7?

the screen is blurry and im not able to see the picture i chose for my lock screen pic... anyone know why this is happening

It seems to be there for the US store as well
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/bridesmaids/id450702554
Distribution rights and their management can be a tricky subject around the world.  So depending on where you are, the distribution rights might have been removed for the iTunes store where you are.

  • Pictures look fuzzy when playing in timeline and even after export.

This is a major headache for me.
I have brought high resolution photos into FCP 7 and they look great when scaled down when I pause or scrub the video in my timeline. When I play my video in the timeline or after an export, it looks fuzzy or pixelated.
I was given the suggestion to mess with interlacing, change the photos to 72dpi before importing to FCP, and other suggestions. Changing the dpi didn't seem to make any difference. Is this a render issue? I've been checking the render setting but haven't had any luck.
    Any suggestions?
I'm not great at determining what my settings should be at for FCP on my MacBook Pro. I have been messing with the settings so much in the past few days trying to fix my fuzzy/pixelated photos problem, and I now am having a difficult time trying to remember what everything was originally set at.
    Help!

I am using QT 7.6.4 as I'm still hanging back on Leopard - not Snow Leopard.
If you look in your "Utilities" folder you might a copy of QT (non-X) in that folder. If not there already, it's an "additional install" on the OS DVD I think.
from here: (Oddly, the corresponding Apple Support page was down. This is Apple's info really...somone else has copied/pasted)
    1. Insert your Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Install DVD.
    2. Open the "Optional Installs folder" and double-click "Optional Installs.mpkg".
    3. Select the QuickTime 7 option and click Continue.
    4. QuickTime Player 7 will be installed in your Utilities folder.
If you have QuickTime 7 installed, Snow Leopard handles the division of labor for you, using QuickTime X when it can and QuickTime 7 when it needs to.
If you don't already have QuickTime 7 installed, then the first time you try to do something that requires it -- such as play a video that needs a non-standard codec, for example -- Snow Leopard will ask if you want to install it.

  • Pictures are fuzzy

So when you take a picture, at the time that you touch the screen the phone is moved a little bit and the pictures are blurred because of it.
Any chance there could be a 0.5 seconds delay of when the pictures are captured to ensure that the phone is not moved by the touching of the screen?

Mine are so sharp, great quality.
Do you have the flash set to off or perhaps the camera is focusing?
I've found if I drag the focus square to the focal point before touching for the picture, it's quicker.

This is about the fifth post I've read that states all the 'recent' user problems and the totally 'new' user problems.
Such as, a request for On Demand content has 'been re-routed incorrectly to the box', resulting in a VO4 error. And blank recordings. And stuttering On Demand, on a users previously faultless Vision sevice.

How do i fix the colour on my ipad? it is fuzzy, dull and unclear!!

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
