On Firefox 3.6.10 on MacOS X 10.5.8, I cannot navigate all fields in all forms with keyboard.

On Firefox 3.6.10 on MacOS X 10.5.8, I cannot navigate some or all fields in some forms with my keyboard.
- In the worst case, the TAB key doesn't work at all: TAB simply toggles between address bar and tab bar, instead of moving from field to field.
- On this form (Firefox Support Forum, Ask a New Question), TAB works on some fields, but not on other fields: TAB just skips over the drop-down select list for the "This happened" field and the submit button ("Post Question") . I cannot find any way to navigate to these fields with the keyboard.
I feel that filling in a form is most efficient when I don't have to keep moving my right hand from keyboard to mouse and back again.

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/accessibility.tabfocus
Note: In OS X (as of 2005-01), if this preference is not explicitly set, the “Full Keyboard Access” setting in System Preferences will be honored. All builds before that date (e.g., Firefox 1.0.x) will ignore that setting.

  • I am running Firefox 3.6.13 on MacOS X 10.6.6 and cannot edit bookmarks saved under folders on the bookmarks toolbar, by right clicking on them.

This problem concerns the bookmarks I have saved under folders that are visible in the Bookmarks Toolbar just under the URL window on Firefox. On my firefox browser in Windows XP I can expand one of these folders, right click on a bookmark underneath and I get the properties option which allows me to modify the Name or Location of the Bookmark. Unfortunately I cannot do the same on Firefox running on my Macbook Pro.

If it doesn't work with the Bookmarks toolbar then you can try to do it in the Library (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).

  • Why do PDFs no longer appear in Firefox after registering CS6 in MacOS?

I have a 2-year-old MacBook Pro with (I think Mountain Lion (MacOS X 10.8.1). I have Creative Suite Design Premium installed. I went to buy Creative Suite Web & Design Premium CS6. While I waited for it to arrive, I installed the demo, and when my package arrived, I simply entered the serial number.
That was the key change between then and now. Then, when I browsed with my primary browser (Firefox) and encountered a PDF file, it opened fine. Now, I get a blank window.
I did notice I was using an older version of Firefox. I upgraded to the lates version (15.0.1, I think). No change. I updated all my CS6 products. No change. I shut down and restarted my machine. No change.
I can go to the same place and open PDFs fine in Safari and Chrome. The fundamental bottom line is that before I entered my serial #, I could open PDFs fine within a Firefox window, and after I entered my serial #, I can't. I get just a blank window with the address to the PDF file clearly in the address bar. A refresh of the window still leaves in blank.
(Note, this isn't the first functionality problem I've found on the MacOS version--I have a Mac and a Windows version--In Dreamweaver, the default Preview in Browser items did not work and I was instructed to delete all my browsers and re-add them.)
I have tried viewing PDF files from several different sites, including my portfolio site (http://chuck.martin.name/portfolio/), and none of them work. Anyone else having this issue with CS6 and Firefox on MacOS?

None of the persons responding to your post are Googlers or Google fanboys. Manish is an Adobe technical support engineer and both Steve Werner and Bob Levine are exceptionally competent and knowledgeable contributors to these forums.
It is indeed true that we at Adobe and other software developers have had significant problems with rapid updates of FireFox that have automatically disabled what the FireFox developers believe to be incompatible plug-ins. FireFox updates (either explicit or without your knowledge) may or may not the cause of the problem you see.
What we can tell you is that as far as we know at Adobe about the code and based on the lack of similar reports from others with such a symptom, there is absolutely nothing in the serialization / activation / registering of the Adobe Creative Suite software that would muck around in any way with the Adobe PDF plug-in for Safari or the plumbing used therein.
Manish asked whether you checked as to whether the PDF plug-in to FireFox is enabled. Please check on that. If it was somehow disabled, try re-enabling it and see if that resolves the problem after restarting FireFox. If the PDF plug-in was already enabled, re-enabling the plug-in doesn't resolve the problem, or you don't see the PDF plug-in option at all, please advise.

  • Flash freezes in Firefox when I scroll the mouse wheel over a drop down list or text field (possibly others as well).

Whenever I scroll in a drop down menu in Flash in Firefox (for example, I move the mouse wheel just one detent), it just continues scrolling on its own all the way to the bottom of the list and freezes all interaction for about 10 seconds.  It's really bizarre.
If I start click and dragging things, nothing happens, and then all of the sudden everything catches up and moves.  As an experienced programmer, I can say that it looks like some kind of queuing of keyboard/mouse events with delayed execution.   Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I found something from 2008 that sounds similar, although I am not using the sIFR they mentioned: sIFR mouse wheel scrolling freeze in Firefox - Stack Overflow
Seems to be a Firefox-specific issue, although it also seems to be something that has just recently started occurring since updating Firefox.
UPDATE:  I was checking my Firefox version in Help > About Firefox, and it showed version 33, but also had a pending update so I restarted Firefox.  The problem was no longer occurring at that point.  When I checked the version again, it said 33.0.2, but it also said "applying update", with another pending restart. I restarted Firefox again.  It's now stable at version 33.1.  So perhaps it was a problem with that particular version, or even a temporary issue with that running browser instance.

    Hi James,
Thank you for sharing your solution with us. It will help other users with a similar issue.

  • On startup I get a warning "Could not initialize the application' security component...", click OK Firefox starts but I cannot navigate to any URL but home.

Click the Firefox 4 icon. A window opens with the warning:
"Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory. Please check that this directory has no read/write restrictions and your hard disk is not full or close to full. It is recommended that you exit the application and fix the problem. If you continue to use this session, you might see incorrect application behaviour when accessing security features"
(There are no read/write restrictions on my Applications folder and plenty of room on the hard drive.)
Click OK and Firefox opens at the home page, but I cannot navigate to any other URL or link. I had the same behavior when I tried FireFox 3)

First, use a specific [[Managing profiles|profile]] for Firefox 4.0 Beta and keep your current one for Firefox 3.6 to prevent interferences between both versions.
Then, see [[Could not initialize the browser security component]].

  • Filling in forms with adobe reader in firefox on ubuntu64

    Hi
I am trying to fill in pdf forms with adobe reader 8.12 in firefox 3.03 and ubuntu64 8.04.
The forms display in firefox and I can check boxes, but when I try to select a text box I am unable to type. I can enter text by right clicking on the box and pasting. I also cannot use tab to move between boxes.
If I save a pdf to disk and open it with adobe reader then I can enter text and cycle through boxes with tab.
Sometimes I am unable to load pdfs in firefox that I have viewed before. When I click on the link a blank page is displayed. I can open them if I set firefox to open them externally with acroread rather than in the browser window.
    Thanks for any help.
    Paul

It's completely up to the IRS to create a form where the information fits in the field. There is nothing you can do with Reader since it is simply what it is called, a reader.
For you to change the document properties would require using the full version of Acrobat.

  • Updated Firefox on my mac; now it cannot open, fear have lost all my bookmarks. How do I get it back?!

Fire fox has always been my preferred browser. I received a message that i needed to update Firefox. I did this and moved the icon to my application file as shown; noting only one of two steps was completed. there was no opportunity to do anything else. I opened it by clicking that i agreed it was an application from the internet. It worked that afternoon. I then turned off my computer, and now the old and the new mozilla firefox icons will not work. I have all my bookmarks on Firefox and need to use it constantly while I work; how do I get it back?!

You calendar info should also be mirrored on your computer. Use the option to replace all events on the iPod with the info on your computer during the next sync. You can find this option in the info pane, Advanced section.
You can also use the latest backup to restore from, it contains the calendar info as well: iTunes: About iOS backups

  • Adobe Interactive Forms with Browser Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to implement HCM P&F using Adobe Interactive Forms. These Adobe Forms will be accessed using Browser Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox. I have come across that the Adobe Interactive Forms are not supported on these browsers. In the same regard I have also gone through the Product Availability Matrix by SAP which specifies that Forms are not support on these browser and neither SAP has future plans to support them.
PAM can be found on link:          http://service.sap.com/pam
I would like to know from experts that if any of the project has successfully implemented Adobe Interactive Forms with browser Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox or
is there any solution which can make these forms work successfully on browser Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox.
Your early reply will be highly appreciated.
    thanks
    Manoj

    Hello,
Mozilla Firefox is supported for Adobe Interactive Forms on Windows operation system.
Unfortunatelly we do not have support for Mac OS and Safari browser.
    Please re-check the PAM.
    Best regards,
    Dezso

  • 5.0.1 Firefox, application froze then crashed. Restarted it, but no 'restore session' and i've lost all my tabs. Help please?!?!

    Can anyone help please?
5.0.1 Firefox, application froze then crashed. Restarted it, but no 'restore session' and i've lost all my tabs. Help please?!?!
    Done config:restoresession, and nothing.

There shouldn't be any numbered sessionstore-##.js in the Firefox Profile Folder
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
The presence of such files usually indicates that that was a problem with accessing the main sessionstore.js file that prevented Firefox from renaming the temp file with the number.<br />
In this case you may be lucky that the file with the highest number may have that session.<br />
You can try to rename the file sessionstore-3.js to sessionstore.js to see if that brings back the lost tabs.
If you use the Time Machine then you can try to restore a copy of sessionstore.js from around the time that you lost that session.

  • I have just downloaded Firefox 4 and my autofill on the google toolbar is not working for any webpages it previously worked with. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

    Question
I have just downloaded Firefox 4 and my autofill on the google toolbar is not working for any webpages it previously worked with. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

Crap. That's what I was afraid of...Well, since I'm away from home and not near my pc, it sounds like I'm out of luck. The problem is that I need my phone to be at least functional for making and receiving calls. There's an apple store nearby. Perhaps I can go there and have them restore it and at least I'll be able to make and receive calls until I get home and restore from my backup. Does that sound feasible, or am I missing something?
P.s. I tried to click "correct answer" and accidentally hit "helpful". Sorry about that...

  • Bought a new monitor.. wide screen 23"... Firefox is not filling the full window. IE works fine but I prefer Firefox. What do I need to do to fill entire window, not just the way it was with the old monitor?

Bought a new monitor.. wide screen 23"... Firefox is not filling the full window. IE works fine but I prefer Firefox. What do I need to do to fill entire window, not just the way it was with the old monitor? edit

Most pages are defined to be a certain size, regardless of how large or small your monitor is. You can use Firefox's zoom feature (View menu) to enlarge the text and images (or just the text, if you prefer) on a page.
In addition to making individual site adjustments, there are some add-ons that will default every site to a higher zoom level. For example, check out:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965/ Default FullZoom Level]
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2592/ NoSquint]
    Does that help?

  • I had several tab groups, but the last time I opened Firefox they'd all disappeared, and been replaced with an advert - can I recover my tab groups somehow?

I've set Firefox so it re-opens my old tabs every time I run the program, and also installed Tab Groups. Usually it opens all the tabs in all the groups with no problem, but this time they'd all disappeared and been replaced with a single advert. Is there a way to recover the old tab groups?

It's likely that by the time there is an answer the data to allow recovery will be long gone, but this really make me angry. I have been operating with the same tabs for months now, and by using tab groups... poof, now all gone. I use tabs precisely because digging around to find all these pages is a time consuming task. some I don't use for a week or two, but when I needed them, there they were. '''BIG BLACK MARK''' awarded to Firefox on this one! My trust level of this software, which had been very high just went to below IE, which is really saying something.

when I try to update Firefox I get a window saying it can't be loaded because I do not have all the necessary permissions. What does this mean and what do I do?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
