  • Flash Player won't install - says Flash Player Settings Manager is open

I cannot install Flash Player on my Win7 64-bit PC. When running the install from the download page, I simply get the error "Installation failed - Unknown Error". If I run the install from the standalone installer I get the message "Flash Player Settings Manager is Open" and a "quit" button".
I don't know what the Flash Player Settings Manager is or where to find it. It certainly does not seem to be "open" anywhere that I can see.

There was a discussion about this topic. One answer that many people found useful is:
    1. Check for the file 'FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl' in the following folders:
    On 32-bit systems, C:\Windows\system32
    On 64-bit systems, C:\Windows\syswow64
    2. Delete this file.
If you don't have the permission to delete the same, use a third-party application, such as Unlocker. (http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/)
    3.Try installation or uninstallation.
    Thanks

  • Manage "Flash Player Settings Manager" in IT Environment

    Hello Community,
Is there an IT Administrators guide or document for managing and configuring the "Flash Player Settings Manager" Control Panel app for version 10.3?  We have approximately 1000 systems that we need to manage and push the software to and basically want to turn off the "check for updates automatically" and "Check Now" Updates features.  I would like to be able to configure the Settings Manager applet in the configuration of Flash Player before deployment so that we don't have to manually configure each workstation post install (which will never happen anyway...too many systems ).
Flash Player updates will be managed through our Altiris Notification server to keep all systems up to date.
Any help in this direction would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, while you can disable checking for updates with the mms.cfg file, the UI on Windows does not reflect the changes that the admin has enacted.  The mms.cfg functionality is still applied, we just didn't have enough time in the current release to reflect that in the UI.  I believe our next release will address this, you should be able to verify by testing out our FP 11 RC release.

  • No prompt to update when Flash Player Settings Manager is set to check for updates automatically

My understading of http://forums.adobe.com/message/3562892#3562892 (March 2011) is that when an outdated version of the Player is used on Windows, the prompt to update should occur after the next restart of the operating system.
So, when http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ in Safari for Windows shows an outdated version 10.x of the Player:
    I restart Windows
    I log on
    I wait a few minutes.
    Problem
Usually, no matter how long I wait, there is no prompt to update; Flash Player Settings Manager continues to show an outdated plug-in alongside a greater version of the ActiveX item.
I see this problem with multiple computers running Windows XP and Windows 7.
    Any suggestions?

Flash Player checks for updates every 7 days. The NCP doesn’t change this.  Where the user in that post is getting confused is that only after Flash Player detected an update (on average 3.5 days after a new version is released), the dialog will appear after a restart.

  • Trying to access Flash Player Settings Manager always asks to install but I already have it installe

I am trying to access Flash player website settings manager.  I link from a browser to the settings manager but instead of a panel there is a download required to get latest Flash Player which I already have.  I download it successfully. Windows 7 control panel has Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX 64-bit. When I link again, I get the same message to download flash player as if I never did it before.  What am I missing? There is also Flash Player (32-bit) icon that invokes Flash Player settings manager. Is this the best I can do to get the website storage settings?  My ultimate goal is to remove Flash player cookies which I learned about today to be a problem. Thanks.

I have no idea what you are talking about.  Just at what site are you getting this message to download instead of the settings panel?
My ultimate goal is to remove Flash player cookies which I learned about today to be a problem. Thanks.
If you want to temporarily remove Flash Player LSO's(cookies), just delete the browser's temporary files.  If you want to permanently remove LSO's, go to your control panel and activate the Flash Player Settings Manager.  Change the Local Storage Settings to Block all sites from storing information on this computer.  However, most sites with Flash Player videos will not work with this setting.

  • I cannot add a site to the list of allow micro sites on Flash Player settings manager

I cannot add a site to the list of allow micro sites on Flash Player settings manager.
as Adobe says at his help document (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlayer/LSM/WS6aa5ec234ff3f285139dc56112e3786b68c-7ff8.htm l):
Displays a list of previously visited websites that have asked to use the camera or microphone on your computer. You can allow or block the use of your camera and microphone by sites on the list. You can also ask to be prompted for permission to use them. Finally, you can choose to remove sites from the list. Removing a site deletes all settings and data stored for that site in Flash Player.
The list initially contains only the sites you have already visited. If you want to specify camera and microphone settings for sites you have not yet visited, you can choose to add sites to the list. Once a site is on the list, you can specify whether to always allow camera and microphone use, ask permission, or never allow camera and microphone use by that site.
I cannot find any button to add a website. Can you help me please.
    Thanks in advanced

  • Flash Player Settings Manager - Text Missing

I am running Windows XP Professional on several machines.  When I launch the "Flash Player Settings Manager" Control Panel applet, I have noticed some missing text in the line items with radio buttons.  This is happening on all of my computers.  For example, under the "Storage" tab, here is what I see...
Notice that at the end of each of the lines with radio buttons, it stops at "this" rather than "this computer" as it should.  On all four of the tabs, each of the lines that have a radio button is missing the last word.
After a bit of trial and error, I figured out the cause of this problem - I just don't have a solution.  Under the "Display" Control Panel applet, I am running the "Windows Classic" theme rather than the default "Windows XP" theme (I don't care for the "cartooney" look).  Anyway, I run all of my computers like this.  When I change to the "Windows XP" theme, the text is displayed correctly...
I wanted to see if anyone else can replicate this.  If so, hopefully Adobe can fix this in a future release.
    -Steve

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the excellent bug report!  I really appreciate the level of detail you gave (I love screenshots) and providing others with a workaround.  I wanted to let you know that this is a known issue (our internal bug number is 2876437) and it should be fixed in our next scheduled release.  Please feel free to ping me anytime for future updates.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.135 Active X failing

Adobe Flash Player 11.5.502.135 Active X failing through SCCM 2007. Tried to use uninstaller but that too is failing... i am trying to push this to 3500 machine but on 1700 machine Adobe flash player is not getting installed and the error message which we are getting is stated below, please suggest:
Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action NewCustomAction1, location: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\InstallAX_11_5_502_135.exe
Error 2753.The File 'InstallAX.exe' is not marked for installation.

The two links (which I have asked the moderators to remove) do not actually go to image files, as they would appear to, but instead point to files that are identified by at least a few anti-virus engines as Windows malware. This is not a legitimate message.
Can you clarify where you are seeing this message? You say it appears every time you open a website... do you mean that it appears any time you open Safari, or every time you load a new page on any site you get a popup with that message, or what? If you could provide a screenshot of the message that would be exceptionally helpful.
Make a screenshot by pressing command-shift-3 to capture the entire screen, or pressing command-shift-4 and then selecting a region on the screen to capture. Be sure no sensitive personal information is displayed. To add that image to a post here, click the camera icon in the post editor toolbar.

  • Adobe Flash Player Setting ?

I play an online golf game at WGT (World Golf Tour), which has operated fine using the latest IE  browser, until an Adobe Flash Player icon appeared on my login/play screen (sse screen grab below). It appears that the operators of the game MEDIA5.wgt.com want to increase the amount of information stored from 13 KB to 100KB. Unfortunately the icon buttons to allow (or deny) does not appear to work, so I am unable to remove the icon from the screen and enter the WGT site to play.
I have been advised that entry to the site can be obtained using other browsers, and I have been successful in accessing the site via Google Chrome. However, the game play is extremely jerky using this browser and I would rather stay with the IE browser if possible. I have checked all the usual issues (Flash Player is Enabled for this particular site) etc, but I am at a loss on how to solve this particular problem. Can anyone please help ?
    Jeff

Use the Flash Player Settings Manager to change the local storage size for that site.

  • Where is the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manage?

I want to get rid of "Press escape to exit full screen mode." You tell me to go to "Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager." Where is this?

I am not sure what the instructions may be that you are following.
For FlashPlayer control panel try this
    * http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
The link should actually open the control panel.

  • Close flash player device management

    dear expert,
When i install adobe flash player for firefox , the installing process could not be continue. The message was to let me close the device management. But i could not close it. Please help me.

Hi, Flash Player is a browser plugin and works thru the browser. I'm not familiar with all of the many Adobe programs. Perhaps the Action Script forums or another forum would be more helpful to you.
You can find a list of the Adobe forums here. The drop down arrow lists them all.

  • Installing flash player gpo 11.4 - wont uninstall previous version

I created a GPO and it installs flash player 11.4 successfully on some machines, however, on machines with some previous versions of flash 10.x, the GPO doesnt install version 11.4. If you reboot the computer on the problemmachines, during the GPO appying computer settings you actually see "install adobe flash player active x 11.4..." but it doesnt install. In control panel the old 10.x version that was pushed out via GPO is still there. I do not have the GPO or files\install for the 10.x version, it has been mistakenly deleted.
This is the error in the application log on the machine:
Product: Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX -- Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group. System Error 1612.
Even if I try the manual uninstall from Adobe, I still cannot install version 11.4 from the GPO. Any ideas someone please?
Adobe - It shouldnt be this hard!!!

All of these keys have broken Flash installs at one point or another here until they were removed as part of the update install. The most recent one I found was the entry at the top, the Safe Versions key broke a lot of systems when I rolled out 11.4 until I found it.
