On going Query about MSN/Live Messenger and T-Mobi...

I have this question running on two other boards with no cast iron answer.
Are there any T-mob UK N900 users who can use the MSN plugin for conversation be it Butterfly, Haze or Pecan?
If the answer is yes please let me know so I can rule out that it's my T-Mob account set up incorrectly.
I have a work around at the moment as I'm connnecting via jabber
Thanks

I'm having a great deal of issues trying to access hotmail.co.uk which results in it just timing out. Router restart didn't help. Starting to think there may be a problem somewhere else. Is this happening to anybody else?

  • Equium A210 - after BIOS update problems signing into MSN Live Messenger

    Hi
I have just installed the latest Bios update for my Equium A210, as this was the first time \i have ever attempted this \i watched carefully and all appeared to go correctly but, when the notebook restarted, it beeped and showed a checksum error, I chose the option to restart with 'Default Settings'
Since doing this I have had problems signing into MSN Live Messenger and wondered if this could be something to do with the Bios update, also is it possible to 'go back' to the old Bios somehow?
    Thanks
    Widdy

    Hi there,
your issue is actually not an machine related problem. The "Checksum Error" is normal after every BIOS update since the checksum of the BIOS which consists the the BIOS settings and the BIOS version is not correct due an altered BIOS version.
So, next time you update your BIOS you will get a "BIOS checksum error" again. Dont worry, its nothing serious.
    Regarding your Messenger:
    1. Uninstall the messenger
    2. Download the latest version from the MSN site
    3. Install the new one
    4. Have fun

  • Send webcam in msn live messenger

hi iam new to mac i was wondering if some one is willing to help me,just to save me some time searching for the answers, here are my questions:can i use my isight in msn live messenger.if not what can i do to send webcam in live messenger.how can i backup and copy my dvd's.and last do i realy don't need an antivirus....tnx in advance.

    Welcome to Mac, lamanblou
Tony has already given you a link to the app you need to connect to PC users who use ONLY Messenger.
I don't think anyone needs anti-virus (AV) on any Mac running OS X. This search of Tiger (10.4) Discussions will give you a look at what others say. Personally, I do not think it necessary to use AV software even for things you send to your PC friends because any PC that is working well enough to get email is already running its own AV software. Of course, if you are running a PC Operating System on your iNtel Mac, you will need to use PC AV software just like any PC would.
As for backing up (and any other Mac questions), the first place you should look is in your Mac's Finder > Help > Mac Help. Just search for "backup" without the quotation marks, and your Mac will give you a list of help topics.
Your next source of good info is the "Support" link at the top of this page. This search of Apple's Support pages duplicates many of the same pages that your Mac Help will find, but the web pages may be useful if you are away from or are having problems with your Mac.
Whether you use your Mac's Help or the Support link, you should be backing up all the important files on your Mac as well as you important DVDs. Use your Mac's "Disk Utility" application (located in the Finder > Go > Utilities folder.) When you have launched Disk Utility, click its Help command for more info about making backups with CDs or DVDs.
To duplicate an existing DVD or CD with Disk Utility (versus merely make a file copy), select "DVD/CD master" from the Image Format choices bar when you create the new disk image of the source disk. When a disk image that was created in the "DVD/CD master" format is burned to disk, Disk Utility creates a duplicate of the source disk. Other Image Formats are used for other purposes and offer different advantages such as compression to allow more data to fit on one disk.

  • Query about Keep Buffer Pool and Recycle Buffer Pool

I know the definitions but need to know the practical aspects about them.I believe you have already got the answer from the experts. Just to echo the same, in any cache, either Buffer Cache(default), Keep or Recycle, its going to be data buffers which are actually the placeholders for the data blocks that are available on the disk. The default cache is going to throw away the lesser used buffers as fast as possible. And if you don't want this to happen, you can use either of the other two, indepandant caches-Recycle and Keep. The keep cache , as the name suggests would keep the buffers in it for a more loonger duration compared to the default cache. This probably would be a better idea when you know that some buffers are meant to be reused again and again. Recycle is going tobe for those, which are very seldom used and you don't want them to choke up the caches at all. For the buffers kept in the Recycle cache, they would be thrown out almost instantly.
Read the link that's given to you. It contains a lot of stuff that would further make things clear.

  • Another query about installing BT Infinity2 and lo...

    History.
We occupied a new build house in 1998.  It was fitted with a BT Master Socket (Line Box) which is situated in a front corner of the Living Room.  We wanted to have the 'phone in a different corner of the room and also wanted to install some more electrical sockets and television aerial sockets, so before we moved in we set about doing that.  While we had holes in the walls and floors lifted we took the opportunity to install some telephone extension sockets.
    The Telephone Installation.
Using a BT extension kit and BT junction boxes.  (and connecting all six wires of the cable into the appropriate locations)
From Line Box in Living Room to Bedroom 3, which is immediately above -  one cable within the cavity wall to a junction box under the floor of Bedroom 3.
From that junction box -  one cable to Bedroom 3 telephone wall plate and
one cable to another junction box under the landing floor.
From the landing floor junction box - one cable within the wall back down to an inner corner of the Living Room to a telephone wall plate   and
one cable within a wall down to the Kitchen telephone wall plate and
one cable under the floor to Bedroom 1 telephone wall plate.
All extensions have worked well since then.
My Line Rental has always been with BT and except for a brief period with Talk Talk my calls have also been with BT.
We later obtained AOL Dial Up which worked fine then later AOL Broadband. When we obtained the Broadband service we fitted BT Filters to each of the extensions in use and had no problems. The AOL Router and desktop computer are in Bedroom 3 plugged into that extension. Lately, the AOL Broadband has become impossibly slow so we have ordered BT Infinity 2 which is due to be installed next week.
    Question 1.
I understand that the normal installation installs a Broadband Filter plate, which includes a Broadband socket,  in the Line Box between the BT line and the telephone plug socket.  Is it possible for the extension wall plate in Bedroom 3 to be changed to a Line Box to accomodate said Filter plate without any other work being necessary?
    Question 2.
If the above is possible, can the original Line Box in the Living Room be left in situ and useable as an extension ?
    Question 3.
If the two above are possible can we then remove all the Line Filters from the extension sockets or will one always be necessary in the original Line Box in the Living Room as the new Filter fitted in Bedroom 3 is "downstream" of the incoming BT line?
    Question 4.
    What does backwiring mean?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Well it's installed and working.
I have to admit that after reading some of the threads on this site I was rather apprehensive as to what to expect and what could or could not be  done.
I received two email reminders/confirmations from BT about the forthcoming engineer visit.
The engineer telephoned on the morning of the appointment to confirm that he was en route and he arrived on time.
I explained my wiring set up and he advised that this was not a problem as he could install wireless.  I commented that BT advised ethernet cabling for the fastest speed.  He replied that in his experience the speed was subject to many variables and that he personally used wireless and that it was just as fast)
He fitted a replacement Master Socket (didn't just alter the already fitted one), connected up the Hub and Modem, went off to the street cabinet, returned and confirmed that my daughter's laptop was connected to the Hub, and that was it. He gave us the standard advice about the speed that we could expect and that it may vary considerably for the first few days.  I cannot recall the actual speed quoted but do know that it was many times faster than we had been forced to endure from our previous provider.    BT call centre had advised us that the engineer would be able to supply a wireless adapter to replace the one I was using in my laptop, but that was wrong information as he advised us that in his experience this had never been the case.
After he had left we simply deinstalled the Netgear from my laptop and re-connected the Netgear adapter I already had to the Hub and that was my laptop connected.
We bought another Netgear Wireless Adapter for the Desktop and installed & connected that to the Hub.
My wife and daughter both have Kindle Fire devices which happily talk to the Hub by Wi-Fi  and my daughter's Smartphone also talks to it, so everyone is happy.
The only problem that we encountered was when I switched off the power to the Hub and Modem whilst tidying up the cabling. When I powered up again we had lost Broadband and the Lan1 light on the Modem was not lit. The troubleshooting guidance advised re-starting the Hub, but that didn't solve the problem.  Our instructions advised that if this occurred on the day of installation that we should wait until after midnight on that day to ascertain whether Broadband had re-connected.
The following morning I re-read the troubleshooting guide in the brochure and tried re-starting the Hub but it still made no difference. We called the helpline number who advised us to press the "re-set" button on the Modem for 20 seconds then the re-start button on the Hub for 10 seconds.  (The troubleshooting guide made no mention of re-setting the Modem. )    That worked.
We've had one slight problem since then when I tried mounting the Modem on the wall instead of it lying on the carpeted floor and moved the Hub to the end of the window sill behind the curtain. Shortly after that we lost the wirless connection although all the relevant lights on the Modem and Hub were lit.    The connection returned when I moved them back to where they had been previously. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

  • A query about Time Capsule, Ethernet, and DSL modems...

When I originally set up my modem, I used the network assistant and it seemed to "auto-connect", where the assistant tells you that your ISP "may allow you" etc. This was done with the ethernet cable as Modem to Macbook Pro. Then when I purchased a TC, I simply connected the ethernet cable to the TC and let Airport Utility set up a wireless network.
All was fine, until I was trying to ensure my security was half-decent. I changed a few settings in the TC, and then spent an afternoon trying to get my MBP to "see" the wireless network. I got that managed as well.
What's confusing me is this, and I hope someone can help me and explain it like I'm a 5-year-old.
    1. In speaking with the ISP tech support, they seemed pretty sure I had to enter specific DCHP, DNS, etc. values in their fields, yet with the network assistant, it seemed to do this not only on its own, but with different values (numbers) then the one tech support told me to use, including an assigned "public" 192 IP address.
    2. Moreover, the ISP told me I should use PPPoE, yet the network assistant seemed just fine with Ethernet and DCHP.
    3. My ethernet IP address (System preferences/Network) is different from my Airport IP address. Is this normal?
    4. Strangely, when I connect another ethernet cable from the TC ethernet out port to the MBP (I was attempting a quicker Time Machine incremental back up), and turned Airport off (as an experiment), I still have internet connectivity. I thought TC ethernet out to MBP would only be for disk data transfer. Is this normal? If I have Airport "ON", would that cable then only be used for data transfer?
    5. I have the TC in Bridge Mode, with Access Control to "Not Enabled". I originally had my MBP and iPod Touch MAC addresses added to Access Control, until I read that this doesn't really help with security. As it stands now, I increased my WPA2 password from an easy to remember one to a random 25 character one. Basically, I am hoping someone can tell me the settings I should use (with detail) to make both the network settings AND the wireless network as safe as possible without having a computer science degree.
Additional information: I only use my MBP and iPod Touch, and the wireless network is only for my use. No guests whatsoever. I do have a usb printer connected to the TC. The modem has a wireless "WLAN" feature which I have turned off since I have the TC. For my email accounts, I have the correct ports entered, as far as I can tell and as far as I've been told by those providers. I occasionally use Acquisition (not sure how safe it is security wise), and I'm often online playing Call of Duty 4 (wirelessly). I think that all I can think of that's important.
I really appreciate everyone's comments and guidance.

Whichever connection is toward the top of the list in System Preferences-> Network preference pane is the one which will be used.
WPA2 with a long non-dictionary password is the best wireless security.
    2. Moreover, the ISP told me I should use PPPoE, yet the network assistant seemed just fine with Ethernet and DCHP.
If your ISP uses PPPoE for Internet connections, the device connecting directly to the DSL modem should be configured to use PPPoE.
    3. My ethernet IP address (System preferences/Network) is different from my Airport IP address. Is this normal?
    Yes

  • Query about Proforma Invoice (F5) and Excise proforma Invoice (JEX)

    Dear all,
I would like to know for excisable goods, customer should be sent two separate invoice? i.e. Pro forma invoice (F5) and Excise Invoice India (JEX). or only excise invoice India (JEX) should be sent. Please help me for the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If excise is relevant then use JEX proforma invoice. So that excise values will flow from invoice to excise transaction "J1IIN"-factory excise invoice.
Configuration to move excise values from proforma has been done for Billing type "JEX"
in Excise configuration Logistics General>Tax on Goods Movement>India>Outgoing Excise invoice>Assign billing types to Delivery types. you will find the JEX been assigned.
In the standard system, there are two document flows that you can use:
Standard order (document type OR) -> Outbound delivery (LF) -> Proforma excise invoice (JEX) -> Invoice (F2)
Standard order (OR) -> Excise invoice (JF) -> Invoice (F2).
Assign Billing Types to Delivery Types
    Use
You enter outgoing excise invoices by referring to either of the following documents:
    Customer invoices
    Pro forma excise invoices
These options are represented in the system by different document types and document flows.
    In this IMG activity, you:
Specify which billing document types you use as a reference for CENVAT utilization
Assign them to the appropriate delivery document types
    Requirements
You have set up the delivery types and copy control as follows:
Create separate delivery types in Customizing for Logistics Execution (LE), by choosing Shipping -> Deliveries -> Define Delivery Types.
Set up copy control for the delivery types in Customizing for LE, by choosing Shipping -> Copying Control -> Specify Copy Control for Deliveries.
Create billing types in Customizing for Sales and Distribution (SD), by choosing Billing -> Billing Documents -> Define Billing Types.
Set up copy control for the billing types in Customizing for SD, by choosing Billing -> Billing Documents -> Maintain Copying Control for Billing Documents

  • All my windows live messenger contact have disappeared of windows messenger and appeared in my phone contact list on my curve 9360, Why, and how can I get them back where they should be?

I went onto windows live messenger today and all my contacts have disappeared from it, but I also noticed that they had somehow now appeared in my curve 9360 phone contacts. How did this happen, and how can I get them back into windows live messenger and out of my phone contacts on my phone? This is driving me crazy, can anybody help please?
My phone is the curve 9360, OS is 7.0.0 bundle 2259 And it was purchased Easter Monday
    Thanks.

Thanks, but I checked iCloud and it has none of them.
If it backed up to my laptop, that died and I just got the new computer. The one that's crashed won't even boot, so there's no way to even tell if it was syncing the contacts along with all the phone photos. Literally happened at the same time - it was because I had the new computer that I was finally able to pull the photos off the phone and make room for the upgrade. It had refused to upgrade for lack of space for some time.
I had thought it was set to sync to iCloud but it vanished from BOTH my phone and the cloud. That's why I'm so angry about it.

  • MSN Messenger and camera.

So, I noticed you can't web cam chat using msn messenger on a mac.
Are there any alternatives similar to MSN where you can while still keeping your MSN contact list?
I tried using 'aMSN' and that didn't work either.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Alanna.
There's really no good MSN solutions out there for Mac OS X (yet) if you are planning to use the video-conference functionality. If you just want basic MSN functonality I would recommend trying out Adium (www.adium.com).
If you are on an Intel based Mac, you could try running MSN Live Messenger from Windows XP running in e.g. Parallels or VMWare Fusion (which let you run Windows on top of Mac OS X on Intel-based macs). You should probably have at least 2 GB RAM though...
Another option you might have is Skype (though your "buddies" would need to use that too).

  • ITunes & Windows Live Messenger (MSN) - Now Playing Feature.

    Hey Guys!
I'm a lover of iTunes over Windows Media Player and made the switch approximately a year and a half ago when I bought my iPod. At first I was upset I would lose the "Now Playing" feature of my Messenger and said the pros were far more beneficial. However after a month or two I noticed that suddenly it worked and all was well...
However, Just recently, I believe when I bought an iPod Nano recently and synced it for the first time. It has stopped working and no longer displays no matter what I've tried... now before you go tell me something you'd tell a noobie, Let me first say... Yes, "Show What I'm Listening To" is checked... and I've tried those stupid little work arounds that make no sense such as the option of iTunes not being minimised to the system tray and Messenger being the main window...
Why did it work before and why did it stop, was it the new iPod syncing causing iTunes to malfunction? I've uninstalled and reinstalled both to no fix... Please help!

Okay... I've solved my issue using a work-around. the iTunes code for broadcasting these things definintely needs to be looked into. Its pretty trivial that syncing an iPod that doesn't have the "manual ejection" option ticked could cause a detrimental issue such as this.
As Hinted, to fix the issue. Make sure the iPod is set to be 'manually ejected' once its finished syncing. This means you will effectively have to eject it yourself using iTunes once you've synced it.
    The steps I did was...
*1. Set iPod to be 'manually ejected' once synced and hit apply.*
*2. Sync iPod... again, for good measure.*
    *3. Restart the computer.*
*4. Start iTunes with the iPod still connected, Sync it again.*
*5. Open Windows Live Messenger and make sure 'show what im listening to' is ticked.*
*6. Play a song in iTunes and see if it worked.*
*Please post if this helped you.* Im sure a few of those steps like re-syncing aren't neccesary, then again it's "Apple" iTunes so it's best to be safe then sorry.
Currently, the wonderful world of iTunes (7.7) is saying I don't have permission to set it as my default audio player, and im the friggin Admin...
    *Bravo! Apple Team, Bravo!*

  • Windows Live Messenger crash with Adobe Flash Player

    operating system : Windows 7, 64
browser: Mozilla Firefox (latest version. I have problems with WLM's latest version).
    Flash Player version: 10.1
Everytime I install Adobe Flash Player for Windows Live Messenger (it has to be done by Internet Explorer) the Messenger crashes with no message. It just goes white and I can't even close it (I close it with the Task manager). I also have Messenger Plus! installed.
What's the problem? I have a Windows XP (32) with the same Messenger, Flash Player and Plus! version installedand I don't get the crash.
    Thanks for your support.

    Let me explain it better:
A message appears telling me that I need Adobe Flash Player. Y Download it for Internet Explorer (becaouse it doesn't work with Firefox's plug-in) and I install it with no programs opened. Then, once is installed, I open Windows Live Messenger and at first it goes well... but then, after 1 munute or so (maby less) the program goes white (not the hole computer, just the Messenger) and that's cause it has crashed.

  • Download windows live messenger n96

where cn i download windows live messenger for my nokia n96 fanxs

    Hello guys,
Having read about your discussion about windows live messenger for N96 I thought i'd throw in a few things.
First off the windows live messenger isn't out for the N96, Like few of you here who has an N96 I have purchased one aswell and I tried various different forums and went into the download but I still have no success for the messenger.
As for those of you who are looking for the .sisx file, it is possible to get it, the tip is if you can get hold of an N95/N95 8GB,
1 - Download the 'Nokia Download' software onto your pc and install it.
2 - Once installation has finished connect the N95/N95 8GB to your pc then run the 'Download' program from your PC, wait till the application detects the phone.
3 - After this process is done, in the 'Download' program you will see a tab for 'Applications' click on it and you will find the 'Windows Live I.M' click on it and download it.
4 - After the download has finished look at the bottom right hand corner of the 'Download' application, you will see a status bar showing you how much has been downloaded or if it shows the bar is full it means its fully downloaded, if this is the case then you will notice that it is automatically installing the 'windows Live I.M' into your phone however you have to cancell it by pressing the 'X' button located beside the status bar as mentioned before.
5 - Once you cancel the installation you can either leave you phone connected to your PC or disconnected but the next step is on your PC find and select your user folder on C: drive then go to 'Appata/Roaming/Nokia/Nokia Download!' then you will see two files in .sisx one is called 'Nokia Internet Service Support Pack 1' (This file is to be installed into you phone before Windows Live I.M to support messenger) and the second file is 'Windows Live I.M' which should be installed in to your phone after the 'Nokia Internet Service Support pack l') you can install both files in the order explained into your phone buy connecting your N96 to your PC and double click on the files one at a time then run the installation or transfer both files directly into your phone and install it that way.
I have actually tried this myself but I had no luck in being able to install either of the files because I keep getting an error messages but if anyone else wants to give it a try then do so, if you have any luck with your N96 then post us the outcome here please.
The only thing I can think of is the N96 is not recognising the 'Signed Certificate' which is encrypted into the 'Nokia Internet Support Pack 1' file hence why I or anyone else will have trouble installing it. Remember without the 'Nokia Internet Support Pack 1', Windowes Live I.M will not install into your phone.
Sorry for the long essay guys but that was the process from my experience and I hope Nokia and Windows Live do something about this to make the software available for the N96 soon.
    Bless to all.
